    We keep most of our logs in a dedicated database table. We have written custom appenders for log4j and log4net, have a fixed log schema with lots of handy columns, and are quite happy with it. Is that the "best practice" (for sites smaller in scale than Facebook, where a simple DB table just won't scale)?

    I have a datatable. I need to fetch a certain column value based on the user input. For example, lets say the datatable has two columns CountryID and CountryName. I need to find CountryID in the datatable based on the user input country name. I could just open a connection with DB and run the query select countryID from Country where countryName = @userinput. Is there anyway i could do this on the datatable.

    I have a database with which I wish to expose data with a ContentProvider. However, it is important that all the colums are not exposed, and also they should be renamed. Is there any good way of doing this? I was thinking maybe some kind of proxy-cursor which takes a cursor and translates its columns to the desired ones, and calls to close and the like would just be replayed to the original cursor. Does something like this exist, or would it be hard to make?

    Hi all, I'd like to add my custom control into a template column of data grid. The custom control is very similar to a text box, but has an icon in it. The user can click the icon, and selects an item from a prompted window, then the selected item will be filled into the text box. My problem is when the text box is filled, after I click the second column, the text will disappear. If I replace the custom control with a simple text box, the result is the same. I am using said table as a dimension for my cube, so now the cube won't process. Presumably I need to make updates in the analysis server to reflect changes to the source database?
