  • ASP.Net: Insert null DateTime

    - by Vinzcent
    Hey I'am using a SQLDatasource in combination with a Formview. When I want to insert or update a DateTime that has no value, I always get an error. How do you insert a DateTime null. My SQLDataSource <asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqldsDetailOrder" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:csBookStore %>" SelectCommand="SELECT 'AUTHOR' = tblAuthors.FIRSTNAME + ' ' + tblAuthors.LASTNAME, tblBooks.*, tblGenres.*, tblLanguages.*, tblOrders.* FROM tblAuthors INNER JOIN tblBooks ON tblAuthors.AUTHOR_ID = tblBooks.AUTHOR_ID INNER JOIN tblGenres ON tblBooks.GENRE_ID = tblGenres.GENRE_ID INNER JOIN tblLanguages ON tblBooks.LANG_ID = tblLanguages.LANG_ID INNER JOIN tblOrders ON tblBooks.BOOK_ID = tblOrders.BOOK_ID WHERE tblOrders.ID = @ID" DeleteCommand="DELETE FROM [tblOrders] WHERE [ID] = @ID" InsertCommand="INSERT INTO [tblOrders] ([NAME], [ADDRESS], [CITY], [PC], [DATE], [BOOK_ID], [COUNT], [AMOUNT], [DELIVERED], [DDATE], [PAID], [PDATE]) VALUES (@NAME, @ADDRESS, @CITY, @PC, @DATE, @BOOK_ID, @COUNT, @AMOUNT, @DELIVERED, @DDATE, @PAID, @PDATE)" UpdateCommand="UPDATE [tblOrders] SET [NAME] = @NAME, [ADDRESS] = @ADDRESS, [CITY] = @CITY, [PC] = @PC, [DATE] = @DATE, [BOOK_ID] = @BOOK_ID, [COUNT] = @COUNT, [AMOUNT] = @AMOUNT, [DELIVERED] = @DELIVERED, [DDATE] = @DDATE, [PAID] = @PAID, [PDATE] = @PDATE WHERE [ID] = @ID"> <SelectParameters> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="gvOrdersAdmin" Name="ID" PropertyName="SelectedValue" Type="Int32" /> </SelectParameters> <DeleteParameters> <asp:Parameter Name="ID" Type="Int32" /> </DeleteParameters> <UpdateParameters> <asp:Parameter Name="NAME" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="ADDRESS" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="CITY" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="PC" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter DbType="DateTime" Name="DATE" /> <asp:Parameter Name="BOOK_ID" Type="Int32" /> <asp:Parameter Name="COUNT" Type="Int32" /> <asp:Parameter Name="AMOUNT" Type="Decimal" /> <asp:Parameter Name="DELIVERED" Type="Boolean" /> <asp:Parameter DbType="DateTime" Name="DDATE" /> <asp:Parameter Name="PAID" Type="Boolean" /> <asp:Parameter DbType="DateTime" Name="PDATE" /> <asp:Parameter Name="ID" Type="Int32" /> </UpdateParameters> <InsertParameters> <asp:Parameter Name="NAME" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="ADDRESS" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="CITY" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="PC" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter DbType="DateTime" Name="DATE" /> <asp:Parameter Name="BOOK_ID" Type="Int32" /> <asp:Parameter Name="COUNT" Type="Int32" /> <asp:Parameter Name="AMOUNT" Type="Decimal" /> <asp:Parameter Name="DELIVERED" Type="Boolean" /> <asp:Parameter DbType="DateTime?"   • How to make multiple wires quickly in Verilog?

    - by user1334858
    I am trying to make 24 wires in total very quickly but I keep getting the error: Error (10170): Verilog HDL syntax error at your_ALU_mux.v(81) near text "="; expecting ".", or an identifier Here is my code: module your_ALU_mux(your_out, operandA, operandB, opcode, switches, address); input [7:0] operandA, operandB, address; input [3:0] opcode, switches; output [7:0] your_out; wire [0:7] Bnot, newb, newa; wire Cin, Cout; not (Bnot[0], operandB[0]), (Bnot[1], operandB[1]), (Bnot[2], operandB[2]), (Bnot[3], operandB[3]), (Bnot[4], operandB[4]), (Bnot[5], operandB[5]), (Bnot[6], operandB[6]), (Bnot[7], operandB[7]); // Getting A' and B' if (address == 16'h00 || address == 16'h01) // Add A + B if (address == 16'h00) // newa = A newa[0] = operandA[0]; newa[1] = operandA[1]; newa[2] = operandA[2]; newa[3] = operandA[3]; newa[4] = operandA[4]; newa[5] = operandA[5]; newa[6] = operandA[6]; newa[7] = operandA[7]; // newb = B' newb[0] = Bnot[0]; newb[1] = Bnot[1]; newb[2] = Bnot[2]; newb[3] = Bnot[3]; newb[4] = Bnot[4]; newb[5] = Bnot[5]; newb[6] = Bnot[6]; newb[7] = Bnot[7]; // Carry in = 1 Cin = 1; // A-B else if (address == 16'h01) // newb = B newb[0] = operandB[0]; newb[1] = operandB[1]; newb[2] = operandB[2]; newb[3] = operandB[3]; newb[4] = operandB[4]; newb[5] = operandB[5]; newb[6] = operandB[6]; newb[7] = operandB[7]; // newa = A newa[0] = operandA[0]; newa[1] = operandA[1]; newa[2] = operandA[2]; newa[3] = operandA[3]; newa[4] = operandA[4]; newa[5] = operandA[5]; newa[6] = operandA[6]; newa[7] = operandA[7]; // Carry in = 0 Cin = 0; end RippleCarryAdd A+B(.S0(your_out[0]), .S1(your_out[1],.S2(your_out[2],.S3(your_out[3],.S4(your_out[4],.S5(your_out[5] S6.(your_out[6]), S7.(your_out[7], .Cout(Cout),.Cin(Cin), .A0(newa[0]),.A1(newa[1]),.A2(newa[2]),.A3(newa[3]),.A4(newa[4]),.A5(newa[5]), .A6(newa[6]),.A7(newa[7]), .B0(newb[0]),.B1(newb[1]),.B2(newb[2]),.B3(newb[3]),.B4(newb[4]), .B5(newb[5]),.B6(newb[6]),.B7(newb[7])); endmodule I also get in error saying: Error (10170): Verilog HDL syntax error at your_ALU_mux.v(66) near text "if"; expecting "endmodule" And the it brings me to my first if statement. Is this the wrong way of going about creating wires and them using them?

  • Jquery, XML and Google Map

    - by EXPennD
    Hi, I'm integrating a Google Map in my website that user could add some thumbnails and details of their own house. Here's a code preview of what I want to happen. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> Jquery and Google Map // var locations = {}; function load() { var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map")); map.setCenter(new GLatLng(47.614495, -122.341861), 13); GDownloadUrl("markerdata.xml", function(data) { var xml = GXml.parse(data); var markers = xml.documentElement.getElementsByTagName("marker"); for (var i = 0; i < markers.length; i++) { var name = markers[i].getAttribute("name"); var address = markers[i].getAttribute("address"); var type = markers[i].getAttribute("type"); var latlng = new GLatLng(parseFloat(markers[i].getAttribute("lat")), parseFloat(markers[i].getAttribute("lng"))); var store = {latlng: latlng, name: name, address: address, type: type}; var latlngHash = (latlng.lat().toFixed(6) + "" + latlng.lng().toFixed(6)); latlngHash = latlngHash.replace(".","").replace(".", "").replace("-",""); if (locations[latlngHash] == null) { locations[latlngHash] = [] } locations[latlngHash].push(store); } for (var latlngHash in locations) { var stores = locations[latlngHash]; if (stores.length > 1) { map.addOverlay(createClusteredMarker(stores)); } else { map.addOverlay(createMarker(stores)); } } }); } function createMarker(stores) { var store = stores[0]; var newIcon = MapIconMaker.createMarkerIcon({width: 32, height: 32, primaryColor: "#00ff00"}); var marker = new GMarker(store.latlng, {icon: newIcon}); var html = "<b>" + store.name + "</b> <br/>" + store.address; GEvent.addListener(marker, 'click', function() { marker.openInfoWindowHtml(html); }); return marker; } function createClusteredMarker(stores) { var newIcon = MapIconMaker.createMarkerIcon({width: 44, height: 44, primaryColor: "#00ff00"}); var marker = new GMarker(stores[0].latlng, {icon: newIcon}); var html = ""; for (var i = 0; i < stores.length; i++) { html += "<b>" + stores[i].name + "</b> <br/>" + stores[i].address + "<br/>"; } GEvent.addListener(marker, 'click', function() { marker.openInfoWindowHtml(html); }); return marker; } //]]> description I want this feature to be fully interactive. If possible user can drag and drop a marker to the location on the Google map and the description field would be enabled after adding the marker so user could add details and submit it. Also here's my current situation. The reason why I want it to be done in XML is the Content Management System that I currently use for this project don't allow me to add Database and Php scripts. The only thing that I have access is I could add new HTML on the BODY section and also External Javascript on the HEAD section. Sorry about the way I write it, it sounds like demanding. Its because I'm still learning Jquery. Thanks everyone!

  • Create a named cell dynamically

    - by CaptMorgan
    I have a workbook with 3 worksheets. 1 worksheet will have input values (not created at the moment and not needed for this question), 1 worksheet with several "template" or "source" tables, and the last worksheet has 4 formatted "target" tables (empty or not doesn't matter). Each template table has 3 columns, 1 column identifying what the values are for in the second 2 columns. The value columns have formulas in them and each cell is Named. The formulas use the cell Names rather than cell address (e.g. MyData1 instead of C2). I am trying to copy the templates into the target tables while also either copying the cell Names from the source into the targets or create the Names in the target tables based on the source cell Names. My code below I am creating the target names by using a "base" in the Name that will be changed depending on which target table it gets copied to. my sample tables have "Num0_" for a base in all the cell names (e.g. Num0_MyData1, Num0_SomeOtherData2, etc). Once the copy has completed the code will then name the cells by looking at the target Names (and address), replacing the base of the name with a new base, just adding a number of which target table it goes to, and replacing the sheet name in the address. Here's where I need help. The way I am changing that address will only work if my template and target are using the same cell addresses of their perspective sheets. Which they are not. (e.g. Template1 table has value cells, each named, of B2 thru C10, and my target table for the copy may be F52 thur G60). Bottom line I need to figure out how to copy those names over with the templates or name the cells dynamically by doing something like a replace where I am incrementing the address value based on my target table #...remember I have 4 target tables which are static, I will only copy to those areas. I am a newbie to vba so any suggestions or help is appreciated. NOTE: The copying of the table works as I want. It even names the cells (if the Template and Target Table have the same local worksheet cell address (e.g. C2) 'Declare Module level variables 'Variables for target tables are defined in sub's for each target table. Dim cellName As Name Dim newName As String Dim newAddress As String Dim newSheetVar Dim oldSheetVar Dim oldNameVar Dim srcTable1 Sub copyTables() newSheetVar = "TestSheet" oldSheetVar = "Templates" oldNameVar = "Num0_" srcTable1 = "TestTableTemplate" 'Call sub functions to copy tables, name cells and update functions. copySrc1Table copySrc2Table End Sub '****there is another sub identical to this one below for copySrc2Table. Sub copySrc1Table() newNameVar = "Num1_" trgTable1 = "SourceEnvTable1" Sheets(oldSheetVar).Select Range(srcTable1).Select Selection.Copy For Each cellName In ActiveWorkbook.Names 'Find all names with common value If cellName.Name Like oldNameVar & "*" Then 'Replace the common value with the update value you need newName = Replace(cellName.Name, oldNameVar, newNameVar) newAddress = Replace(cellName.RefersTo, oldSheetVar, newSheetVar) 'Edit the name of the name. This will change any formulas using this name as well ActiveWorkbook.Names.Add Name:=newName, RefersTo:=newAddress End If Next cellName Sheets(newSheetVar).Select Range(trgTable1).Select Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteAll, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:= _ False, Transpose:=False End Sub PING

  • ASP.NET MVC Consume JSONResult in Bing Maps API

    - by rockinthesixstring
    I know there are a few topics on this, but I seem to be fumbling my way through with no results. I'm trying to use a controller to return JSON results to my Bin Maps functions. Here's what I have for my controller (yes it is properly returning JSON data. Function Regions() As JsonResult Dim rj As New List(Of RtnJson)() rj.Add(New RtnJson("135 Bow Meadows Drive, Cochrane, Alberta", "desc", "title")) rj.Add(New RtnJson("12 Bowridge Dr NW, Calgary, Alberta, Canada", "desc2", "title2")) Return Json(rj, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet) End Function Then in my script I have this, but it's not working. <script type="text/javascript"> var map = null; var centerLat = 51.045 ; var centerLon = -114.05722; var json_object = $.getJSON("<%: Url.Action("Regions", "Events")%>"); function LoadMap() { map = new VEMap('bingMap'); map.LoadMap(new VELatLong(centerLat, centerLon), 10); $.each(json_object, function () { alert(this.address); //this alert is returning "address is undefined" StartGeocoding(this.address, this.title, this.desc); }); } function StartGeocoding(address, title, desc) { map.Find(null, // what address, // where null, // VEFindType (always VEFindType.Businesses) null, // VEShapeLayer (base by default) null, // start index for results (0 by default) null, // max number of results (default is 10) null, // show results? • How to set up a wcf-structure over internet, and not on the localhost

    - by djerry
    Hey guys, I want to convert the wcf-structure i have from localhost to a service which runs over the internet. My server starts when replacing the localhost with my ip-address. But then my clients cannot connect to the server anymore. This is my server setup : static void Main(string[] args) { NetTcpBinding binding = new NetTcpBinding(SecurityMode.Message); Uri address = new Uri("net.tcp://192.168.10.26"); //_svc = new ServiceHost(typeof(MonitoringSystemService), address); _monSysService = new MonitoringSystemService(); _svc = new ServiceHost(_monSysService, address); publishMetaData(_svc, "http://192.168.10.26"); _svc.AddServiceEndpoint(typeof(IMonitoringSystemService), binding, "Monitoring Server"); _svc.Open(); } My app.config for the client looks like this : <configuration> <system.diagnostics> <sources> <source name="System.ServiceModel" switchValue="Information, ActivityTracing" propagateActivity="true"> <listeners> <add name="traceListener" type="System.Diagnostics.XmlWriterTraceListener" initializeData= "c:\log\Traces.svclog" /> </listeners> </source> </sources> </system.diagnostics> <system.serviceModel> <bindings> <netTcpBinding> <binding name="NetTcpBinding_IMonitoringSystemService" closeTimeout="00:00:10" openTimeout="00:00:10" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:00:10" transactionFlow="false" transferMode="Buffered" transactionProtocol="OleTransactions" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" listenBacklog="10" maxBufferPoolSize="2147483647" maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxConnections="500" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="32" maxStringContentLength="100000" maxArrayLength="100000" maxBytesPerRead="100000" maxNameTableCharCount="100000" /> <reliableSession ordered="true" inactivityTimeout="00:10:00" enabled="false" /> <security mode="Message"> <transport clientCredentialType="Windows" protectionLevel="EncryptAndSign"> <extendedProtectionPolicy policyEnforcement="Never" /> </transport> <message clientCredentialType="Windows" /> </security> </binding> </netTcpBinding> </bindings> <client> <endpoint address="net.tcp://192.168.10.26/Monitoring%20Server" binding="netTcpBinding" bindingConfiguration="NetTcpBinding_IMonitoringSystemService" contract="IMonitoringSystemService" > <!--name="NetTcpBinding_IMonitoringSystemService"--> <identity> <userPrincipalName value="DJERRYY\djerry" /> </identity> </endpoint> </client> </system.serviceModel> </configuration>

  • Fread binary file dynamic size string [C]

    - by Blackbinary
    I've been working on this assignment, where I need to read in "records" and write them to a file, and then have the ability to read/find them later. On each run of the program, the user can decide to write a new record, or read an old record (either by Name or #) The file is binary, here is its definition: typedef struct{ char * name; char * address; short addressLength, nameLength; int phoneNumber; }employeeRecord; employeeRecord record; The way the program works, it will store the structure, then the name, then the address. Name and address are dynamically allocated, which is why it is necessary to read the structure first to find the size of the name and address, allocate memory for them, then read them into that memory. For debugging purposes I have two programs at the moment. I have my file writing program, and file reading. My actual problem is this, when I read a file I have written, i read in the structure, print out the phone # to make sure it works (which works fine), and then fread the name (now being able to use record.nameLength which reports the proper value too). Fread however, does not return a usable name, it returns blank. I see two problems, either I haven't written the name to the file correctly, or I haven't read it in correctly. Here is how i write to the file: where fp is the file pointer. record.name is a proper value, so is record.nameLength. Also i am writing the name including the null terminator. (e.g. 'Jack\0') fwrite(&record,sizeof record,1,fp); fwrite(record.name,sizeof(char),record.nameLength,fp); fwrite(record.address,sizeof(char),record.addressLength,fp); And i then close the file. here is how i read the file: fp = fopen("employeeRecord","r"); fread(&record,sizeof record,1,fp); printf("Number: %d\n",record.phoneNumber); char *nameString = malloc(sizeof(char)*record.nameLength); printf("\nName Length: %d",record.nameLength); fread(nameString,sizeof(char),record.nameLength,fp); printf("\nName: %s",nameString); Notice there is some debug stuff in there (name length and number, both of which are correct). So i know the file opened properly, and I can use the name length fine. Why then is my output blank, or a newline, or something like that? (The output is just Name: with nothing after it, and program finishes just fine) Thanks for the help.

  • protobuf-net NOT faster than binary serialization?

    I wrote a program to serialize a 'Person' class using XMLSerializer, BinaryFormatter and ProtoBuf. I thought protobuf-net should be faster than the other two. • Error using paho-mqtt in App Engine Python App

    - by calumb
    I am trying to right a Google Cloud Platform app in python with Flask that makes an MQTT connection. I have included the paho python library by doing pip install paho-mqtt -t libs/. However, when I try to run the app, even if I don't try to connect to MQTT. I get a weird error about IP address checking: RuntimeError: error('illegal IP address string passed to inet_pton',) It seems something in the remote_socket lib is causing a problem. Is this a security issue? Is there someway to disable it? • grdb not working variables

    - by stupid_idiot
    hi, i know this is kinda retarded but I just can't figure it out. I'm debugging this: xor eax,eax mov ah,[var1] mov al,[var2] call addition stop: jmp stop var1: db 5 var2: db 6 addition: add ah,al ret the numbers that I find on addresses var1 and var2 are 0x0E and 0x07. I know it's not segmented, but that ain't reason for it to do such escapades, because the addition call works just fine. Could you please explain to me where is my mistake? I see the problem, dunno how to fix it yet though. The thing is, for some reason the instruction pointer starts at 0x100 and all the segment registers at 0x1628. To address the instruction the used combination is i guess [cs:ip] (one of the segment registers and the instruction pointer for sure). The offset to var1 is 0x10 (probably because from the begining of the code it's the 0x10th byte in order), i tried to examine the memory and what i got was: 1628:100 8 bytes 1628:108 8 bytes 1628:110 <- wtf? (assume another 8 bytes) 1628:118 ... whatever tricks are there in the memory [cs:var1] points somewhere else than in my code, which is probably where the label .data would usually address ds.... probably.. i don't know what is supposed to be at 1628:10 ok, i found out what caused the assness and wasted me whole fuckin day. the behaviour described above is just correct, the code is fully functional. what i didn't know is that grdb debugger for some reason sets the begining address to 0x100... the sollution is to insert the directive ORG 0x100 on the first line and that's the whole thing. the code was working because instruction pointer has the right address to first instruction and goes one by one, but your assembler doesn't know what effective address will be your program stored at so it pretty much remains relative to first line of the code which means all the variables (if not using label for data section) will remain pointing as if it started at 0x0. which of course wouldn't work with DOS. and grdb apparently emulates some DOS features... sry for the language, thx everyone for effort, hope this will spare someone's time if having the same problem... heheh.. at least now i know the reason why to use .data section :))))

  • Google maps sometimes does not return a geocoded value for string

    - by XGreen
    Hi Guys, I have the following code: It basically looks into a HTML list and geocodes and markets each item. it does it correctly 8 out of ten but sometimes I get an error I set for show in the console. I can't think of anything. Any thoughts is much appreciated. $(function () { var map = null; var geocoder = null; function initialize() { if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) { // Specifies that the element with the ID map is the container for the map map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map")); // Sets an initial map positon (which mainly gets ignored after reading the adderesses list) map.setCenter(new GLatLng(37.4419, -122.1419), 13); // Instatiates the google Geocoder class geocoder = new GClientGeocoder(); map.addControl(new GSmallMapControl()); // Sets map zooming controls on the map map.enableScrollWheelZoom(); // Allows the mouse wheel to control the map while on it } } function showAddress(address, linkHTML) { if (geocoder) { geocoder.getLatLng(address, function (point) { if (!point) { console.log('Geocoder did not return a location for ' + address); } else { map.setCenter(point, 8); var marker = new GMarker(point); map.addOverlay(marker); // Assigns the click event to each marker to open its balloon GEvent.addListener(marker, "click", function () { marker.openInfoWindowHtml(linkHTML); }); } } ); } } // end of show address function initialize(); // This iterates through the text of each address and tells the map // to show its location on the map. An internal error is thrown if // the location is not found. $.each($('.addresses li a'), function () { var addressAnchor = $(this); showAddress(addressAnchor.text(), $(this).parent().html()); }); }); which looks into this HTML: <ul class="addresses"> <li><a href="#">Central London</a></li> <li><a href="#">London WC1</a></li> <li><a href="#">London Shoreditch</a></li> <li><a href="#">London EC1</a></li> <li><a href="#">London EC2</a></li> <li><a href="#">London EC3</a></li> <li><a href="#">London EC4</a></li> </ul>

  • Creating a binary file from an IntelHex in C#

    - by Allek
    I'm trying to create a binary file from a intelHex file. Iside the intelHex file I have data and address to which I should write the data inside the binary file. IntelHex file looks like that :10010000214601360121470136007EFE09D2190140 :100110002146017EB7C20001FF5F16002148011988 :10012000194E79234623965778239EDA3F01B2CAA7 :100130003F0156702B5E712B722B732146013421C7 :00000001FF So I have 4 lines here with data since the last one tells us thats the end of file. Here is what I'm doing to create the file while (!streamReader.EndOfStream) { string temp = String.Empty; int address = 0; line = streamReader.ReadLine(); // Get address for each data address = Convert.ToInt32(line.Substring(3, 4), 16); // Get data from each line temp = line.Substring(7, 2); if (temp == "01") break; else { temp = line.Substring(9, line.Length - 11); string[] array = new string[(temp.Length / 2)]; int j = 0; for (int i = 0; i < array.Length; ++i) { array[i] = temp[j].ToString() + temp[j + 1].ToString(); j = j + 2; } temp = String.Empty; for (int i = 0; i < array.Length; ++i) { temp = temp + Convert.ToChar(Convert.ToInt32(array[i], 16)); } } binaryWriter.Seek(address, SeekOrigin.Begin); binaryWriter.Write(temp); binaryWriter.Flush(); } Console.WriteLine("Done...\nPress any key to exit..."); The problem here is, that data in binary file in some places is not equal to data from the intelHex file. Looks like there is some random data added to the file and I do not know from where. First time I saw that there is an additional data before the data from the intelHex file. For instance first data line starts with 21, but in binary file I have a number 12 before the 21. I do not know what is wrong here. Hope someone can help me or guide me where I can find some usefull informations about creating binary files in C#

    I've encountered a strange issue with our internal Windows DNS infrastructure. We have a website hosted on Amazon EC2 with the DNS running on Amazon Route 53. In the publicly facing DNS we have the wildcard record setup as an A record Alias pointing to an AWS Elastic Load Balancer sitting in front of our EC2 instances. For those who are not aware, the A record Alias behaves like a CNAME record, however no extra lookup is required on the client side (See http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/CreatingAliasRRSets.html for more information). We have a secondary domain that has the www subdomain as a CNAME pointing to a subdomain on the primary domain, which resolves against the wildcard entry. For example the subdomain www.secondary.com is a CNAME to sub1.primary.com, but there is no explicit entry for sub1.primary.com, so it resolves to wildcard record. This setup work without issue publicly. The issue comes in our internal DNS at our corporate office where we use the same primary domain for some internal only facing sites. In this setup we have two Active Directory DNS servers with one Server 2003 and one Server 2008 R2 instance. The zone is an AD integrated zone, but it is not the AD domain. In the internal DNS we have the wildcard record pointing to a third external domain, that is also hosted on Route 53 with an A record Alias pointing to the same ELB instance. For example, *.primary.com is a CNAME to tertiary.com, so in effect you have www.secondary.com as a CNAME to *.primary.com, which is a CNAME to tertiary.com. In this setup, attempting to resolve www.secondary.com will fail. Clearing the cache on the Server 2003 instance will allow it to resolve once, but subsequent attempts will fail. It fails even with a clean cache against the 2008 R2 server. It seems that only Windows clients are affected. A Mac running OSX Mountain Lion does not experience this issue. I'm even able to replicate the issue using nslookup. Against the 2003 server, with a freshly cleaned cache, I recieve the appropriate response from www.secondary.com: Non-authoritative answer: Name: subdomain.primary.com Address: x.x.x.x (Public IP) Aliases: www.secondary.com Subsequent checks simply return: Non-authoritative answer: Name: www.secondary.com If you set the type to CNAME you get the appropriate responses all the time. www.secondary.com gives you: Non-authoritative answer: www.secondary.com canonical name = subdomain.primary.com And subdomain.primary.com gives you: subdomain.primary.com canonical name = tertiary.com And setting type back to A gives you the appropriate response for tertiary.com: Non-authoritative answer: Name: tertiary.com Address: x.x.x.x (Public IP) Against the 2008 R2 server things are a little different. Even with a clean cache, www.secondary.com returns just: Non-authoritative answer: Name: www.secondary.com The CNAME records are returned appropriately. www.secondary.com returns: Non-authoritative answer: www.secondary.com canonical name = subdomain.primary.com And subdomain.primary.com gives you: subdomain.primary.com canonical name = tertiary.com tertiary.com internet address = x.x.x.x (Public IP) tertiary.com AAAA IPv6 address = x::x (Public IPv6) And setting type back to A gives you the appropriate response for tertiary.com: Non-authoritative answer: Name: tertiary.com Address: x.x.x.x (Public IP) Requests directly against subdomain.primary.com work correctly.

  • Gmail and Live are making all messages from my server as spam.

    - by Ryan Kearney
    I'm getting very weird results here. When my server sends an email to my @hotmail or @gmail account, it's marked as spam. When I send email through my server from Outlook to @hotmail, it doesn't get marked as spam, but it still gets marked as spam in gmail. They seem to get through fine on Yahoo though. My servers hostname A record points to an IP address whose PTR record points back to the same domain name. The TXT record has a SPF record in it to allow email to be sent from that servers IP. I moved from a VPS to a Dedicated server when this started to happen. From what I can see, the email headers are identical. Here's one of my email headers that gmail marks as spam. Some fields were repalced. MYGMAILACCOUNT is the email address of the account the email was addressed to. USER is the name of the account on the system it was sent from HOSTNAME is the servers FQDN IPADDR is the IP Address of the Hostname MYDOMAIN is my domain name Delivered-To: MYGMAILACCOUNT Received: by 10.220.77.82 with SMTP id f18cs263483vck; Sat, 27 Feb 2010 23:58:02 -0800 (PST) Received: by 10.150.16.4 with SMTP id 4mr3886702ybp.110.1267343881628; Sat, 27 Feb 2010 23:58:01 -0800 (PST) Return-Path: <USER@HOSTNAME> Received: from HOSTNAME (HOSTNAME [IPADDR]) by mx.google.com with ESMTP id 17si4604419yxe.134.2010.02.27.23.58.01; Sat, 27 Feb 2010 23:58:01 -0800 (PST) Received-SPF: pass (google.com: best guess record for domain of USER@HOSTNAME designates IPADDR as permitted sender) client-ip=IPADDR; Authentication-Results: mx.google.com; spf=pass (google.com: best guess record for domain of USER@HOSTNAME designates IPADDR as permitted sender) smtp.mail=USER@HOSTNAME Received: from USER by HOSTNAME with local (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from <USER@HOSTNAME>) id 1Nle2K-0000t8-Bd for MYGMAILACCOUNT; Sun, 28 Feb 2010 02:57:36 -0500 To: Ryan Kearney <MYGMAILACCOUNT> Subject: [Email Subject] MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit From: webmaster@MYDOMAIN Message-Id: <E1Nle2K-0000t8-Bd@HOSTNAME> Sender: <USER@HOSTNAME> Date: Sun, 28 Feb 2010 02:57:36 -0500 X-AntiAbuse: This header was added to track abuse, please include it with any abuse report X-AntiAbuse: Primary Hostname - HOSTNAME X-AntiAbuse: Original Domain - gmail.com X-AntiAbuse: Originator/Caller UID/GID - [503 500] / [47 12] X-AntiAbuse: Sender Address Domain - HOSTNAME Anyone have any ideas as to why all mail leaving my server gets marked as spam? EDIT: I already used http://www.mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx to check if my servers IP's are blacklisted and they are in fact not. That's what I thought at first, but it isn't the case. Update Mar 1, 2010 I received the following email from Microsoft Thank you for writing to Windows Live Hotmail Domain Support. My name is * and I will be assisting you today. We have identified that messages from your IP are being filtered based on the recommendations of the SmartScreen filter. This is the spam filtering technology developed and operated by Microsoft and is built around the technology of machine learning. It learns to recognize what is and isn't spam. In short, we filter incoming emails that look like spam. I am not able to go into any specific details about what these filters specifically entail, as this would render them useless. E-mails from IPs are filtered based upon a combination of IP reputation and the content of individual emails. The reputation of an IP is influenced by a number of factors. Among these factors, which you as a sender can control, are: The IP's Junk Mail Reporting complaint rate The frequency and volume in which email is sent The number of spam trap account hits The RCPT success rate So I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that I got an IP address with little or no history in sending email. I've confirmed that I'm not on any blacklists. I'm guessing it's one of those things that will work itself out in a month or so. I'll post when I hear more.

  • Varnish + Nginx + multiple IP addresses

    - by adnan
    This is my first shot at making Varnish work on my dedicated server which hosts 2 domains with 2 separate IP-addresses. My simplified setup is as follows: Nginx conf server { listen ip-address-1:8080; } server { listen ip-address-2:8080; } Varnish vcl backend default { .host = "127.0.0.1"; .port = "80"; } And in the varnish conf I have defined VARNISH_LISTEN_PORT=80 Varnish and Nginx (and php-fpm) are running properly but when I try to go to my website it shows the welcome to nginx page. The headers don't have the x-varnish in it. It seems that for some reason varnish is not listening to port 80. I'm suspecting this has to do with the vcl file where it is listening to the 127.0.0.1 host. I'm running two wordpress sites. Where should I look for to get Varnish working properly? Cheers, Adnan EDIT: Nginx seems to be in 8080 correctly but Varnish is not listening to the right ip address. Using Jens multiple varnish ip addresses netstat -lnp yields: Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp 0 0 46.105.40.241:8080 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 21610/nginx tcp 0 0 5.135.166.39:8080 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 21610/nginx tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 21610/nginx tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:53 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2544/named tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:21 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1195/vsftpd tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1184/sshd tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:953 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2544/named tcp 0 0 46.105.40.241:443 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 21610/nginx tcp 0 0 5.135.166.39:443 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 21610/nginx tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:6082 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 21350/varnishd tcp 0 0 :::80 :::* LISTEN 21351/varnishd tcp 0 0 ::1:53 :::* LISTEN 2544/named tcp 0 0 :::22 :::* LISTEN 1184/sshd tcp 0 0 ::1:953 :::* LISTEN 2544/named udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:53 0.0.0.0:* 2544/named udp 0 0 ::1:53 :::* 2544/named default.vcl backend ikhebeenbril { .host = "5.135.166.39"; .port = "8080"; } backend sunculture { .host = "46.105.40.241"; .port = "8080"; } sub vcl_recv { if (server.ip == "5.135.166.39") { set req.backend = ikhebeenbril; } else { set req.backend = sunculture; } ... } sub vcl_hash { hash_data(server.ip); if (req.http.host) { hash_data(req.http.host); } hash_data(req.url); if (req.http.Accept-Encoding) { hash_data(req.http.Accept-Encoding); } return (hash); } nginx server blocks server { listen 5.135.166.39:80; listen 5.135.166.39:443 default ssl spdy; server_name www.ikhebeenbril.nl; } server { listen 46.105.40.241:80; listen 46.105.40.241:443 default ssl spdy; server_name www.thesunculture.com; }

  • Using Juniper EX3300 as a router

    - by Richard Whitman
    So I have a Juniper EX3300 Switch. One of its uplink ports (ge-0/1/0) is connected to my ISP's router. ISP router's port address is xx.xx.xx.109. My switch's IP address is xx.xx.xx.110. From the switch, I can ping to xx.xx.xx.109 and any other IP in the world. I mean its connected to the Internet. I connected the port eth0 of a computer (running Ubuntu) to the port ge-0/0/0 of the switch (which in the same VLAN as ge-0/1/0). I configured the port eth0 as follows: iface eth0 inet static address yy.yy.yy.208 netmask 255.255.255.240 gateway xx.xx.xx.110 yy.yy.yy.208 is assigned to me by the ISP. So, now I can ping to the switch (xx.xx.xx.110) from this computer. But I can not ping to either xx.xx.xx.109 (ISP router) or any other IP. I want this computer to be connected to the Internet. What am I doing wrong? Here are some of the configurations on my switch: interfaces { ge-0/0/0 { unit 0 { family ethernet-switching; } } . . . ge-0/1/0 { ether-options { no-auto-negotiation; link-mode full-duplex; speed { 1g; } } unit 0 { family ethernet-switching { port-mode access; } } } . . . vlan { unit 0 { family inet { address 10.0.1.1/24; } } unit 1 { family inet { address xx.xx.xx.110/30; } } } } . . . routing-options { static { route 0.0.0.0/0 { next-hop xx.xx.xx.109; retain; } } } vlans { Cogent { vlan-id 3; interface { ge-0/1/0.0; ge-0/0/0.0; ge-0/0/1.0; ge-0/0/2.0; ge-0/0/3.0; } l3-interface vlan.1; } TFLan { vlan-id 2; interface { ge-0/0/5.0; ge-0/0/6.0; ge-0/0/7.0; ge-0/0/8.0; ge-0/0/9.0; ge-0/0/10.0; ge-0/0/11.0; ge-0/0/12.0; ge-0/0/13.0; ge-0/0/14.0; ge-0/0/15.0; ge-0/0/16.0; ge-0/0/17.0; ge-0/0/18.0; ge-0/0/19.0; ge-0/0/20.0; ge-0/0/21.0; ge-0/0/22.0; ge-0/0/23.0; ge-0/0/4.0; } l3-interface vlan.0; } }

  • Cisco ASA not forwarding traffic from one interface to another

    - by Antoine Benkemoun
    Hello ServerFault, I am needing help in the configuration process of my Cisco ASA 5510. I have set up 4 Cisco ASA interconnected together via a big LAN. Each Cisco ASA has 3 or 4 LANs attached to them. The IP routing part is taken care of by OSPF. My problem is on another level. A computer connected to one of the LANs attached to an ASA has no problem communicating with the outside world. The outside world being anything "after" the ASA. My problem is that I am completely unable to have them communicate with another LAN connected to the same ASA. To rephrase this, I am unable to send traffic from one interface of a given ASA to another interface of the same ASA. My configuration is the following : ! hostname Fuji ! interface Ethernet0/0 speed 100 duplex full nameif outside security-level 0 ip address 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.0 no shutdown ! interface Ethernet0/1 speed 100 duplex full nameif cs4 no shutdown security-level 100 ip address 10.1.4.1 255.255.255.0 ! interface Ethernet0/2 speed 100 duplex full no shutdown ! interface Ethernet0/2.15 vlan 15 nameif cs5 security-level 100 ip address 10.1.5.1 255.255.255.0 ! interface Ethernet0/2.16 vlan 16 nameif cs6 security-level 100 ip address 10.1.6.1 255.255.255.0 ! interface Management0/0 speed 100 duplex full nameif management security-level 100 ip address 10.6.0.252 255.255.255.0 ! access-list nat_cs4 extended permit ip 10.1.4.0 255.255.255.0 any access-list acl_cs4 extended permit ip 10.1.4.0 255.255.255.0 any access-list nat_cs5 extended permit ip 10.1.5.0 255.255.255.0 any access-list acl_cs5 extended permit ip 10.1.5.0 255.255.255.0 any access-list nat_cs6 extended permit ip 10.1.6.0 255.255.255.0 any access-list acl_cs6 extended permit ip 10.1.6.0 255.255.255.0 any ! access-list nat_outside extended permit ip any any access-list acl_outside extended permit ip any 10.1.4.0 255.255.255.0 access-list acl_outside extended permit ip any 10.1.5.0 255.255.255.0 access-list acl_outside extended permit ip any 10.1.6.0 255.255.255.0 ! nat (outside) 0 access-list nat_outside nat (cs4) 0 access-list nat_cs4 nat (cs5) 0 access-list nat_cs5 nat (cs6) 0 access-list nat_cs6 ! static (outside,cs4) 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 netmask 0.0.0.0 static (outside,cs5) 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 netmask 0.0.0.0 static (outside,cs6) 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 netmask 0.0.0.0 ! static (cs4,outside) 10.1.4.0 10.1.4.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 static (cs4,cs5) 10.1.4.0 10.1.4.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 static (cs4,cs6) 10.1.4.0 10.1.4.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 ! static (cs5,outside) 10.1.5.0 10.1.5.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 static (cs5,cs4) 10.1.5.0 10.1.5.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 static (cs5,cs6) 10.1.5.0 10.1.5.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 ! static (cs6,outside) 10.1.6.0 10.1.6.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 static (cs6,cs4) 10.1.6.0 10.1.6.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 static (cs6,cs5) 10.1.6.0 10.1.6.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 ! access-group acl_outside in interface outside access-group acl_cs4 in interface cs4 access-group acl_cs5 in interface cs5 access-group acl_cs6 in interface cs6 ! router ospf 1 network 10.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 area 1 network 10.1.4.0 255.255.255.0 area 1 network 10.1.5.0 255.255.255.0 area 1 network 10.1.6.0 255.255.255.0 area 1 log-adj-changes ! There is nothing really complicated in this configuration. It just NATs from one interface to another and that's it. I have tried enabling same-security-traffic permit inter-interface but that doesn't help. I therefore must be missing something a little bit more complicated. Does anyone know why I cannot foward traffic from one interface to another ? Thank you in advance for your help, Antoine

    - by Big Denzel
    HI everybody. Can anyone please help me on the following issue. I got a Cisco Asa 5520 configured at my network. • Has this server been compromised?

    - by Griffo
    A friend is running a VPS (CentOS) His business partner was the sysadmin but has left him high and dry to look after the system. So, I've been asked to help out in fixing an apparent spam problem. His IP address got blacklisted for unsolicited mail. I'm not sure where to look for a problem, but I started with netstat to see what open connections were running. It looks to me like he has remote hosts connected to his SMTP server. Here's the output: Active Internet connections (w/o servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State tcp 0 0 78.153.208.195:imap 86-40-60-183-dynamic.:10029 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 78.153.208.195:imap 86-40-60-183-dynamic.:10010 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 1 78.153.208.195:35563 news.avanport.pt:smtp SYN_SENT tcp 0 0 78.153.208.195:35559 vip-us-br-mx.terra.com:smtp TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0 78.153.208.195:35560 vip-us-br-mx.terra.com:smtp TIME_WAIT tcp 1 1 78.153.208.195:imaps 86-40-60-183-dynamic.:11647 CLOSING tcp 1 1 78.153.208.195:imaps 86-40-60-183-dynamic.:11645 CLOSING tcp 0 0 78.153.208.195:35562 mx.a.locaweb.com.br:smtp TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0 78.153.208.195:35561 mx.a.locaweb.com.br:smtp TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0 78.153.208.195:imap 86-41-8-64-dynamic.b-:49446 ESTABLISHED Does this indicate that his server may be acting as an open relay? Mail should only be outgoing from localhost. Apologies for my lack of knowledge but I don't work on linux in my day job. EDIT: Here's some output from /var/log/maillog which looks like it may be the result of spam. If it appears to be the case to others, where should I look next to investigate a root cause? I put the server IP through www.checkor.com and it came back clean. • How to connect FreeBSD Jail to network

    - by jgtumusiime
    So recently I successfully installed and configured a freebsd jail and I would like to install software within my jail but I cannot connect to the network. • How do I resolve "conflicting accounts" in google apps without breaking links to online photos on picasa?

    - by lee
    I have been using google apps for some time, and only recently learned I have what google calls "conflicting accounts" which is creating a problem I haven't been able to resolve. Turns out that the apps account really only covers email, google docs, and the calendar and not other features like picasa, blogger, youtube etc. and at some point they gave me a non-apps google account with my same (proprietary non-gmail) email address for the additional apps. This is the "conflicting account." I had noticed that I sometimes had to come in through another door when I went back and forth, between docs, picasa, and mail let's say, but never understood why since it was the same username and password and I didn't get any communication about it at the time. Google is now in the process of giving google apps users access to the additional apps and providing instructions for consolidating the two accounts. But if I want to move my picasa site into the new apps structure I have to download my albums and re-synch them. This would be disastrous for me as I have hundreds of photos embedded in my websites, and new web addresses would break all the connections. The alternative seems to be to rename my "personal" (non-apps) accounts as described at http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?answer=185186: Users with conflicting Google Accounts can easily resolve their conflicts by renaming their personal Google Accounts, and the data in their personal accounts will remain safe and accessible to them. Here’s how a user can rename their personal Google Account: * Step 1: Visit www.google.com/accounts and sign in with your personal Google Account * Step 2: Click ‘Change email’ under ‘Personal Settings’ * Step 3: Enter a different email address where you can receive mail, enter your password, and click ‘Save email address’ * Step 4: Check your other email If your users don’t have different email addresses where they can receive mail, they can resolve the conflict by renaming their personal Google Accounts to @gmail.com addresses instead. Sounds easy enough, right? I gave them a gmail address. The wizard said "sorry you can't use a gmail account for this" --which contradicts the last paragraph above but ok, I switched to a new email address I just created for one of my domains. I can send email back and forth between this account and my google apps account with no problem. But when I try to use it as a replacement on the "personal" side I always get "The password you gave is incorrect." I have tried it over and over and know the password is correct. Since I like to get all my emails though one web interface I initially had the new email set up as an add-on to my google apps email account, but noting that the instructions said the "personal account" email could not be associated with any other gmail account I took it off and went back to accessing it via horde so there would be no conflict there, which seemed to make no difference. I can't figure out why it won't accept the password. Does anyone have any thoughts about that? or suggestions for another way to resolve my picasa problem? any help at all is greatly appreciated. Lee

  • IPv6: Should I have private addresses?

    - by AlReece45
    Right now, we have a rack of servers. Every server right now has at least 2 IP addresses, one for the public interface, another for the private. The servers that have SSL websites on them have more IP addresses. We also have virtual servers, that are configured similarly. Private Network The private range is currently just used for backups and monitoring. Its a gigabit port, the interface usage does not usually get very high. There are other technologies we're considering using that would use this port: iSCSI (implementations usually recommends dedicating an interface to it, which would be yet another IP network), VPN to get access to the private range (something I'd rather avoid) dedicated database servers LDAP centralized configuration (like puppet) centralized logging We don't have any private addresses in our DNS records (only public addresses). For our servers to utilize the correct IP address for the right interface (and not hard code the IP address) probably requires setting up a private DNS server (So now we add 2 different dns entries to 2 different systems). Public Network Our public range has a variety of services include web, email, and ftp. There is a hardware firewall between our network and the "public" network. We have (relatively secure) method to instruct the firewall to open and close administrative access (web interfaces, ssh, etc) for our current IP address. With either solution discussed, the host-based firewalls will be configured as well. The public network currently runs at a dedicated 20Mbps link. There are a couple of legacy servers with fast-ethernet ports, but they are scheduled for decommissioning. All of the other production boxes have at least 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The more traffic-heavy servers have 4-6 available (none is using more than the 2 Gigabit ports right now). IPv6 I want to get an IPv6 prefix from our ISP. So at least every "server" has at least one IPv6 interface. We'll still need to keep the IPv4 addressees up and available for legacy clients (web servers and email at the very least). We have two IP networks right now. Adding the public IPv6 address would make it three. Just use IPv6? I'm thinking about just dumping the private IPv4 range and using the IPv6 range as the primary means of all communications. If an interface starts reaching its capacity, utilize the newly free interfaces to create a trunk. It has the advantage that if either the public or private traffic needs to exceed 1Gbps. The traffic for each interface is already analyzed on a regular basis to predict future bandwidth use. In the rare instances where bandwidth unexpected peaks: utilize QoS to ensure traffic (like our limited SSH access) is prioritized correctly so the problem can be corrected (if possible, our WAN is the bottleneck right now). It also has the advantage of not needing to make an entry for every private address. We may have private DNS (or just LDAP), but it'll be much more limited in scope with less entries to duplicate. Summary I'm trying to make this network as "simple" as possible. At the same time, I want to make sure its reliable, upgradeable, scalable, and (eventually) redundant. Having one IPv6 network, and a legacy IPv4 network seems to be the best solution to me. Regarding using assigned IPv6 addresses for both networks, sharing the available bandwidth on one (more trunked if needed): Are there any technical disadvantages (limitations, buffers, scalability)? Are there any other security considerations (asides from firewalls mentioned above) to consider? Are there regulations or other security requirements (like PCI-DSS) that this doesn't meet? Is there typical software for setting up a Linux network that doesn't have IPv6 support yet? (logging, ldap, puppet) Some other thing I didn't consider?
