• Drupal Customizing User Registration Form

  Hi All, I am newbie in Drupal 6. I am looking for customizing User registration form. Apparently found that while adding user using Admin login allows registration form to have fields like email address, username, password,confirm password, etc with validations. But when anonymous use wants to register, then only fields like email address and username are displayed. I tried with Profile module available. But now how could I add some fields (password, confirm password, terms & condition check and receive news letter check box)and behavior (password, confirm password validation etc.)? If I am adding such fields they are also get visible in AdminAdd user form resulting duplicate fields like Password,Confirm password. Could you please suggest me how can I do this? I tried googling but confused me a lot as I am beginner to Drupal.

• Why Bluetooth needs DBUS way of communication in android?

  I am newbie to Android DBUS, recently I was informed that I need to use DBUS to implement Bluetooth in Android, from DBUS documentation I see DBUS is used for communication medium between two applications. In Android apps -apps communication is through intents, if so why do we need DBUS for Bluetooth ? Is that DBUS serves as communication medium for networking (IP) between two apps since it is built over sockets? Please correct me if my understanding is wrong, any more information on DBUS along with Bluetooth implementation in Android is appreciated. Thanks.

• How to request device token on iphone

  Hello, I am able to use the didRegisterForRemoteNotificationWithDeviceToken callback method to get the device token of my iphone when subscribing to push notifications. My question is how can I get this token again a later time? When a user subscribes to something in my application, I want to send the device token and the id of the item they are subscribing to...but I can't figure out where to get the device token from. I tried using the uniqueIdentifer from the UIDevice class but this value is different than what the original token was. I supposed I could call registerForRemoteNotificationTypes each time my app starts to produce the token. But if I do that, I'm not sure how I can access this value from a different class (my didRegisterForRemoteNotificationWithDeviceToken callback is located in the main application delegate). Thanks for any help for an objective C newbie!

• Visual Artifacts in Visual Studio 2010

  I'm using VS 2010 on Windows Server 2003, running on a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop. VS 2010 runs fine, except for persistent and random screen re-drawing issues. Samples of these are here. These artifacts occur as the mouse moves over items that highlight on a mouse-over event, while scrolling, and when switching tabs. VS 2008 has non of these issues, so I assume that it is related to VS 2010's use of WPF. Could it be that my video card or driver is not up to the task of rendering WPF? Some other WPF applications (not Silverlight) also have some of these screen repainting problems. I have tried a variety of settings in System Properties--Advanced--Performance Options--Visual Effects, and in the related "Advanced" tab, Processor Scheduling is adjusted for best performance of programs. • Memory management in Qt?

  I'm quite new to Qt and am wondering on some basic stuff with memory management and the life of objects. When do I need to delete / destroy my objects? Is any of this handled automatically? In the example below, which of the objects I create do I need to delete? What happens to the instance variable myOtherClass when myClass is destroyed? What happens if I don't delete / destroy my objects at all, will that be a problem to memory? in MyClass.h: class MyClass { public: MyClass(); ~MyClass(); MyOtherClass *myOtherClass; }; in MyClass.cpp: MyClass::MyClass() { myOtherClass = new MyOtherClass(); MyOtherClass myOtherClass2; QString myString = "Hello"; } As you can see this is quite newbie-easy stuff but where can I learn about this in an easy way? As far as I can tell: Controller: deals with routing requests View: deals with presentation of data Model: looks a whole lot like a Data Access layer Where does the Business Logic go? Take a large enterprise application with: Several different sources of data (WCF, WebServices and ADO) tied together in a data access layer (useing multiple different DTOs). A lot business logic segmented over several dlls. What is an appropriate way for an MVC web application to sit on top of this (in terms of code and project structure)? The example I have seen where everything just goes in the Model folder don't seem like they are appropriate for very large applications. Thanks for any advice!

• How to get the quickfix timestamp?

  I've seen in quickfix doxygen documentation that it generates an utc timestamp as soon as it has received a FIX message from a socket file. Have a look in ThreadedSocketConnection::processStream(), it calls then m_pSession->next( msg, UtcTimeStamp() ); I would like to get that timestamp, because I need it to screen network and QuickFix lib latencies. I didn't find a way to get it from FixApplication::fromApp() callback or 'Log::onIncoming()' callback. As I am newbie with quickfix I would like to know if I missed something in the Quickfix documentation. Did anybody ever done that before? Of course there is other solutions, but for homogeneity with others market acces applications I maintain, I would prefer to avoid them. For instance, I would prefer not to modify QuickFix code source. And I would like to avoid re-write the application logic that quickfix provide me, quickfix helpping me only for message decoding.

  Hi, i have created 3 tabs using the TabActivity. The class declaration is like this. public class ABTM extends TabActivity { ........ some code .......... } now i want to create a Menu with three menu items. but the problem is that the **@Override public boolean OnCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu){ }** gives error. It says that i should remove the @Override. When i remove the @Override the error is gone and the application runs fine but pressing the menu button does nothing. What am i doing wrong here?

• Import and Export for CSV are both broken in Mathematica

  Consider the following 2 by 2 array: x = {{"a b c", "1,2,3"}, {"i \"comma-heart\" you", "i \",heart\" u, too"}} If we Export that to CSV and then Import it again we don't get the same thing back: Import[Export["tmp.csv", d]] Looking at tmp.csv it's clear that the Export didn't work, since the quotes are not escaped properly. According to the RFC which I presume is summarized correctly on Wikipedia's entry on CSV, the right way to export the above array is as follows: a b c, "1,2,3" "i ""heart"" you", "i "",heart"" u, too" Importing the above does not yield the original array either. So Import is broken as well. I've reported these bugs to [email protected] but I'm wondering if others have workarounds in the meantime. One workaround is to just use TSV instead of CSV. I tested the above with TSV and it seems to work (even with tabs embedded in the entries of the array).

  I am total newbie in .Net programming so be patient, please ;-). I have problem with resizing window. I want to resize from my app other app's window and take screenshot of it. I do resizing based on this example: http://blogs.geekdojo.net/richard/archive/2003/09/24/181.aspx. But I have a problem. I work on a laptop with 1024x640 pixels screen resolution but I want to resize my window to 1200x1600 px. I can't do that couse display limitations. Is there any tricky solution to resize window for this resolution and take a screenshot of whole window? I've alos tried Sdesk program witch is suggested here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/445893/create-window-larger-than-desktop-display-resolution. Any help?

  I have an app with three tabs that switch views instantaneously when the user taps them. The first view is a table view selecting which 'location type' to filter by, to only show those pins (add those annotations) to the second view, a MapView. When a table cell is clicked, it switches instantaneously to the mapview, using this code: self.tabBarController.selectedIndex=1; However, I would like to do this with a slide-in-from-right animation, like the one you get when drilling down a hierarchy of table views. I tried this: [self.navigationController pushViewController:[self.tabBarController.viewControllers objectAtIndex:1] animated:YES]; which compiles without error or warning, but does not switch views. How do I 'apply' a navigation controller 'onto' a tab bar controller? Or is there some way to select another viewcontroller and specify an animation?

• Convert XCode view-based app to navigation-based app?

  Newbie question: is there an easy way to convert a view-based app to a navigation-based app? I have an existing app sample that was created as a view-based app, and need to be able to create additional viewcontrollers that can be nested. The app is currently using presentModalViewController calls and nibs to display windows. Trying to change these to pushViewController calls results in the views not being displayed. So I'm assuming it's because the pushViewController needs to use a Navigation view. Thanks in advance!

• Access variables from a number of sources

  I'm creating my first game, and I've currently set up a 'GameState' class, to store player health etc. inside. This class is currently instantiated from the AppDelegate as I need to access it from all over my game. This is fine. For each class I'm working in, I can access the app delegate, and then find the GameState object... however, it seems very messy. I'm tempted to find a way (I'm still a newbie) to define the GameState instance as being some sort of global variable so that I can access it from all over with ease... but my little bit of reading on variable scope makes me uneasy about doing this, even if I knew how. Any ideas of the best way to define and access this class? It'll be used for everything from player health, to items they've found, any personalisation etc. Thanks!

• Smartest way to draw 100+ images on screen

  Hello all, First of all I'm a newbie when it comes to Android programming. So if this question is totally stupid please delete it ASAP :-). Question: I'm going to draw a grid of 10x10 PNG images. Each image is 32x32 px. All of the images are unique. I'm thinking that the easiest way seems to be to put each image in an ImageView. If adding all ImageView's to the layout would this give me some kind of performance hit? Would there be any smarter way to draw these images? Thanks. / Henrik

• IPC speed and compare

  I am trying to implement a real-time application which involves IPC across different modules. The modules are doing some data intensive processing. I am using message queue as the backbone(Activemq) for IPC in the prototype, which is easy(considering I am a totally IPC newbie), but it's very very slow. Here is my situation: I have isolated the IPC part so that I could change it other ways in future. I have 3 weeks to implement another faster version. ;-( IPC should be fast, but also comparatively easy to pick up I have been looking into different IPC approaches: socket, pipe, shared memory. However, I have no experience in IPC, and there is definitely no way I could fail this demo in 3 weeks... Which IPC will be the safe way to start with? Thanks. Lily

  I have ascii strings which contain the character "\x80" to represent the euro symbol: >>> print "\x80" € When inserting string data containing this character into my database, I get: psycopg2.DataError: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0x80 HINT: This error can also happen if the byte sequence does not match the encodi ng expected by the server, which is controlled by "client_encoding". I'm a unicode newbie. How can I convert my strings containing "\x80" to valid UTF-8 containing that same euro symbol? I'm sing Zend framework, and sending an array from the controller: $this->view->googleArray = $viewFeedArray; In the view, I have a foreach loop that is populating a table with the array contents. <?php foreach($this->googleArray as $row) { ?> <tr> <td><?php echo $row['when']; ?></td> ... ... </tr> <?php } ?> It all works fine. At the top of the table, I want to list the number of items in the array. Something like (which doesn't work): <?php echo $this->googleArray->totalResults; ?> event(s) found How would I do that? • design time usercontrols - I can't see anything!

  newbie question, please forgive... I'm developing a Wpf UserControl that will eventually be bound to a business object. The usercontrol is little more than a series of laid out TextBlocks, and perhaps (later) an image or two. As I'm laying out the usercontrol, I can put dummy text into all the TextBlocks so I can see what the usercontrol will look like, but as soon as I change the text property to contain the Binding information: <TextBlock Margin="0,12.8,42,0" Name="lblLastName" FontSize="8" Height="19" VerticalAlignment="Top" Text="{Binding Mode=OneWay, Path=LastName}"/> Then I can no longer see the textbox, or any "placeholder" text. This makes it very difficult to adjust the location and sizes of all the controls on the UserControl. In WinFormas programming, you could set binding information independently of the Text property, so you could at least see the Placeholder text during design time development. It's going to be pretty hard to visually arrange a bunch of invisible TextBlocks! What's the standard solution for this?

• Stopping Windows Mobile 6.5 tab reordering

  I have a C++ Visual Studio 2008 Windows Mobile 6.5 application that uses a tab control. I've noticed that depending on how careful you are with the stylus, when using the tab control you can accidentally re-order the tabs. It's difficult to do deliberately, but it's very easy to do when you're not trying. I assume this is a new "feature" of Windows Mobile 6.5 as it doesn't happen in Windows Mobile 6.1 with the same code. Is there a window style or something I can set that will lock the tab order such that people don't accidentally re-arrange them? Also, is there an MSDN page that describes this behavior and how it is supposed to work? I've looked, but have come up empty. Thanks, PaulH

• Dotnetopenauth oAuth Service provider explanation

  I am a total newbie in the oAuth area and have set up DotNetOpenAuth to set up an oAuth Service provider. The sample provided in the DotNetOpenAuth download is quite confusing for me...maybe cos i am new to this stuff. There is one default page that creates a database and populates the database. Now I browse to the login.aspx and it asks me to put an openid, actually I want to use DNN (which implements DotNetOpenAuth) and i want to use those credentials on another site which will be the oAuth consumer. Can someone explain how to test the oAuth Service provider in the samples of DotNetOpenAuth?
