• Why would a FaceBook application "work" on a profile, but not a page?

  I made a FaceBook application that works fine on profiles, but I can't figure out how to get it to show on a FaceBook page. For example, after I visit the application canvas URL, allow the application, then edit application settings and "add" to box and tab view... I cannot click the "plus" symbol to the left of the tabs in order to add a tab for the application. It does not appear in the list of available applications. Meanwhile, the application is working/showing up on profiles with no issues. I DID check the "Installable to Pages" checkbox on the application (authentication tab) settings. What could cause this? • Problems with Visual Studio Express installation

  I just installed 'Visual C# 2008 Express Edition' and 'Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition' on my Vista machine. Previously I have been running these in Win XP. When launching the software, starting a new project and trying to build it I get warnings like "The referenced component 'System' could not be found."; one row for each namespace used. I have .NET Framework 3.5 installed and are able to browse through the tabs in 'Add reference', but I cannot make it work. (A re-install did not help.) Is there an easy fix?

• Anchor tags and target behaviour? - HTML

  Hi folks, I must say that despite this being a newb question, I don't think I have totally mastered HTML a tags. Whenever I want to open a link in a new tab I add target="_blank", works fine in chrome and firefox. Not in IE7-8. I think the behaviour might have something to do with the DOCTYPE, but I'm not entirely sure. I'm currently using HTML 4.01 Strict. Right now what I am trying to understand is: How to open links in new tabs in IE7-8 How to open links within small windows Help would be very much appreciated! :)

• How I do I make controls/elements move with inertia?

  Modern UI's are starting to give their UI elments nice inertia when moving. Tabs slide in, page transitions, even some listboxes and scroll elments have nice inertia to them (the iphone for example). What is the best algorythm for this? It is more than just gravity as they speed up, and then slow down as they fall into place. I have tried various formulae's for speeding up to a maximum (terminal) velocity and then slowing down but nothing I have tried "feels" right. It always feels a little bit off. Is there a standard for this, or is it just a matter of playing with various numbers until it looks/feels right?

• ajax with WCF work. but few miniute after, doesn't work.

  hello. I am WCF pure newbie. I know this question could look like dumb. I used to write ajax with the Webservice. but on this project. I tried to use WCF for ajax. after I build the project. I try to call wcf ajax. and I can receive return successfully. But 10 or more minute after. I cann't receive return, and the ajax call the error function. and the fiddler return nothing. if I rebuild the project without any source modifying, I can receive ajax return successfully. such a weird situation. is their anybody who experience this? and know why ? • Installing a python wrapper for a c++ library

  Hi all, I am trying to install the python wrapper for the ANN (approx near neighbors) c++ library: link is http://www.scipy.org/scipy/scikits/wiki/AnnWrapper . I am on Windows 7 32-bit. Unfortunately the documentation is a bit terse and I am a newbie to programming in general, so I cannot decipher the instructions found within. • Facebook tab application scripting

  I have a web application that I am trying to port to Facebook. The app uses a few external javascript files. So initially I wanted to create an iframe Facebook application. However, it turns out that you cannot use iframes when creating a tab application(which is a requirement). By tab application I mean placing your app on the profile page next to the wall, info, photos, ect. tabs. Does any one know of a good tool to help convert my javascript to the FBJS scripting? Or better yet does anyone have a work around so that I can include my own javascript in this tabbed application? Thanks for the help.

  Hi, I'm looking to do some basic encryption of server messages which'd be encrypted with C++ and decrypted using Python serverside. I was wondering if anyone knew if there were good solutions that were simpler or more lightweight than Keyczar. I see that supports both C++ and python, but would using Crypto++ and PyCrypto be simpler for a newbie that just wants to get something up and running for the time being? Or should I use Keyczar for python and Crypto++ for the C++ end? The C++ libraries seem to have dependencies to hundreds of files.

  I am using MVVM. I have a tab control. I will have a collection of items. I want to display each of this item in the collection as a tab item. The view in each tab item is different and may have its own viewmodel. How do I achieve this? E.g. I have 3 items in the collection. The Tab item template contains an ItemControl. I would like to now have 3 Tabs created and the ItemControls inside each tabitem may be showing different views. One way I could do is have a single view and viewmodel for each item. Now based on some condition the View will display different UI elements and behave differently. But I am afraide this will make the view quite complex over a period of time.

• Strange tab ordering when creating controls after postback

  I have a button that opens a panel in a popup window and then performs a postback to retrieve data from the server and render some controls. Some of the controls are textboxes and some are dropdown lists and can be in any order. Everything works fine when tabbing through the textbox controls. But when tabbing from the first dropdown contorl found, the tab order 'gets lost' and it starts tabbing from the first control again. When I tab to the same dropdown list the second time 'round, it correctly tabs to the next control. Does anyone know what might be going on? Example: TextBox1 (Tab -> focus set to 'TextBox2') TextBox2 (Tab -> focus set to 'DropDown1') DropDown1 (Tab -> focus goes back up to 'TextBox1' - wtf?) TextBox3 Update: The TabIndex attribute is set on all controls.

  Hi to all, first i would like to say i am Newbie in C++. As part of my master thesis i am writing a program in C++ which also get as parameters the variables m and d (both integers). Were d is the power of 2 (this means 2^d elements). Parameter m define the number of possible interactions between one element and the total group (2^d elements). The number of possible interactions is computed as following: \kappa = \sum_{i=0}^m\binom{d}{i} (at present i generate vector of vectors for 2^d x \kappa, but my Prof. would like me to create different statistics to different m's. My first though was to to generate a dynamic array of m arrays of different sizes... Then i though of defining a 3-dim array with the biggest needed 2d array, but also program speed is important (e.g d = 20). i would like to ask for your advice how to define such kind of dynamic array that will also be fast.   I have some text inputs which I'm validating when a user tabs to the next one. I would like the focus to stay on a problematic input after showing an alert. I can't seem to nail down the correct syntax to have JQuery do this. Instead the following code shows the alert then focuses on the next text input. • Sanitize Content: removing markup from Amazon's content

  I'm using Amazon Web Service to get product descriptions of various items. The problem is that Amazon's content contains mark up that is sometimes destructive to the layout of my web page (e.g. unclosed DIVs, etc.). I want to sanitize the content I get from Amazon. My solution would be to do the following (my initial list so far): Remove unnecessary tags such as div, span, etc. while keeping tags like p, ul, ol, etc. Remove all attributes from all the tags (e.g. seems like there are style attributes in some of the tags) Remove excess white space (e.g. multiple spaces, carriage returns, new lines, tabs, etc.) Etc. Before I go off trying to build my solution, I'm wondering if anyone has a better idea (or an already existing solution). Thanks.

• Watir: Need to double click on an element to open custom popup

  Hello, I am a newbie in WATIR. The problem I am facing is - The application I am testing has thumbnails (like Windows icons) placed on the page and I need to double click it. On doing that, an custom popup (ajax popup implemented in javascript) will open. The fire_event("ondblclick") is not working for me. I also tried 'click' twice but that too is not helping. • EXT JS toLayout on Viewport doesnt show anything...

  After reading many example about adding new components in to existing container without reloading whole page I run in to small problem while combining tree and tabs inside Viewport component. What I'm trying to do is to register on click event to tree node and load in to content container new component, depending on node type it can be tabpanel, gridpanel or any other available component. here is short example of tree object: { xtype: 'treepanel', id: 'tree-panel', listeners: { click: function(n) { var content = Ext.getCmp('content-panel'); content.setTitle(n.attributes.qtip); //remove all components from content-panel content.removeAll(); content.add(dummy_tabs2); content.doLayout(); return; } }} All DOM manipulation went fine, everything registered properly, new Title shown, but dummy_tabs2 are not shown. I did try to set various properties for doLayout(true|false, true|false) but nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?

• Handling session between two pages in iframe-based facebook app.

  I'm a newbie to iframe based facebook application and stuck with session related problems. There are just two pages in my app. First page got many fb_sig_* parameters from facebook platform but when I click a anchor to next page, those fb_sig_* were lost because this is just direct request from end user's browser not from facebook. So I found that http://forum.developers.facebook.com/viewtopic.php?id=52885. It was told that I should not using cookie and always append every fb_sig* to every anchor. This can be the only solution for my problems? Any side effect like session expiry problem?

• How to add a Page to Frame using code in WPF

  I have a Window where I have put a Frame. I would like to add a Page to the Frame when I click a button that is also on the Window but not in the Frame. There are several buttons in the Window and each click on a button should load a different Page in the Frame. Since I'm a total newbie on this WPF stuff it's quite possible that this approach is not the best and I have thought about replacing the Frame with a Canvas and then make UserControls instead of Pages that will be added to the Canvas. I welcome any ideas and suggestions on how to best solve this. I aiming for a functionality that is similar to the application Billy Hollis demonstrated in dnrtv episode 115. • Xcode missing Command Line Utility section - can't start Foundation project template

  I downloaded the iPhone SDK from the iPhone dev center a couple of days ago and installed it yesterday. I'm following the Stanford iPhone development tutorials available on iTunes U. On Assignment 1B, the first instruction is to open a new Foundation Project template. The screenshot shows several sections in Xcode which my version doesn't seem to have, including the Command Line Utility section which the Foundation Project template is shown to be in. Does this need to be installed manually? I tried searching on Google with no luck. The fact that I'm an OS X newbie doesn't really help any either. Thanks in advance!

• How does jQuery .data() work?

  My Javascript knowledge is pretty limited. Instead of asking several javascript questions I got the "message" from Stack overflow and started using jQuery right away in order to save me some time. However several times I do not undestand the "magic" behind jQuery and I would love to learn the details. I want to use .data() in my application. The examples are very helpful. I do not understand however WHERE these values are stored. I inspect the webpage with Firebug and as soon as .data() saves an object to a dom element, I do not see any change in Firebug (either HTML or Dom tabs). I tried to look at jQuery source, but it is very advanced for my Javascript knowledge and I lost myself. So the question is: Where do the values stored by jQuery.data() actually go? Can I inspect/locate/list/debug them using a tool?
