  • How can I animate multiple elements sequentially using jQuery?

    - by lorenzium
    I thought it would be simple but I still can't get it to work. By clicking one button, I want several animations to happen - one after the other - but now all the animations are happening at once. Here's my code - can someone please tell me where I'm going wrong?: $(".button").click(function(){ $("#header").animate({top: "-50"}, "slow") $("#something").animate({height: "hide"}, "slow") $("ul#menu").animate({top: "20", left: "0"}, "slow") $(".trigger").animate({height: "show", top: "110", left: "0"}, "slow"); });

  • Are 'const' variables precomputed by default in C++?

    - by Gunnar
    Suppose I have variables for positions like const float latitude = 51.+11./60.+33.0461/3600.; const float longitude = 12.+50./60.+31.9369/3600.; and use them frequently in the program. Does the compiler precompute that? (This example should not produce much overhead, but you get the point.) Bonus point for pointing out location. ;) TIA

  • SQL 2008 CASE statement aggravation...

    - by Brad
    Why does this fail: DECLARE @DATE VARCHAR(50) = 'dasf' SELECT CASE WHEN ISDATE(@DATE) = 1 THEN CONVERT(date,@DATE) ELSE @DATE END Msg 241, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string. Why is it trying to convert dasf to date when it clearly causes ISDATE(@DATE) = 1 to evaluate to false... If I do: SELECT ISDATE(@DATE) The return value is 0.

  • Thread safety with heap-allocated memory

    - by incrediman
    I was reading this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thread_safety Is the following function thread-safe? void foo(int y){ int * x = new int[50]; /*...do some stuff with the allocated memory...*/ delete x; } In the article it says that to be thread-safe you can only use variables from the stack. Really? Why? Wouldn't subsequent calls of the above function allocate memory elsewhere?

  • Which is more efficient in mysql, a big join or multiple queries of single table?

    - by Tom Greenpoint
    I have a mysql database like this Post – 500,000 rows (Postid,Userid) Photo – 200,000 rows (Photoid,Postid) About 50,000 posts have photos, average 4 each, most posts do not have photos. I need to get a feed of all posts with photos for a userid, average 50 posts each. Which approach would be more efficient? 1: Big Join select * from post left join photo on post.postid=photo.postid where post.userid=123 2: Multiple queries select * from post where userid=123 while (loop through rows) { select * from photo where postid=row[postid] }

But they aren't both working. Is there a better way to structure this, I am having a brain freeze! Thanks OOOH by the way, my SQL wont stay in this form! I will protect it afterwards

  • PHP: Remove the first and last item of the array

    - by phpBOY
    Hi, Suppose I have this array: $array = array('10', '20', '30.30', '40', '50'); Questions What is the fastest/easiest way to remove the first item from the above array? What is the fastest/easiest way to remove the last item from the above array? So the resulting array contains only these values: '20' '30.30' '40'

  • C# recursive programming with lists

    - by David Torrey
    I am working on a program where each item can hold an array of items (i'm making a menu, which has a tree-like structure) currently i have the items as a list, instead of an array, but I don't feel like I'm using it to its full potential to simplify code. I chose a list over a standard array because the interface (.add, .remove, etc...) makes a lot of sense. I have code to search through the structure and return the path of the name (i.e. Item.subitem.subsubitem.subsubsubitem). Below is my code: public class Item { //public Item[] subitem; <-- Array of Items public List<Item> subitem; // <-- List of Items public Color itemColor = Color.FromArgb(50,50,200); public Rectangle itemSize = new Rectangle(0,0,64,64); public Bitmap itemBitmap = null; public string itemName; public string LocateItem(string searchName) { string tItemName = null; //if the item name matches the search parameter, send it up) if (itemName == searchName) { return itemName; } if (subitem != null) { //spiral down a level foreach (Item tSearchItem in subitem) { tItemName = tSearchItem.LocateItem(searchName); if (tItemName != null) break; //exit for if item was found } } //do name logic (use index numbers) //if LocateItem of the subitems returned nothing and the current item is not a match, return null (not found) if (tItemName == null && itemName != searchName) { return null; } //if it's not the item being searched for and the search item was found, change the string and return it up if (tItemName != null && itemName != searchName) { tItemName.Insert(0, itemName + "."); //insert the parent name on the left --> TopItem.SubItem.SubSubItem.SubSubSubItem return tItemName; } //default not found return null; } } My question is if there is an easier way to do this with lists? I've been going back and forth in my head as to whether I should use lists or just an array. The only reason I have a list is so that I don't have to make code to resize the array each time I add or remove an item.

  • how to open many tabs in chromium but unload/disable inactive/notCurrent ones, releasing memory and cpu?

    - by Aquarius Power
    So I have 50 tabs opened on chromium, but that is using too much memory and some of the CPU. How can I have all those concurrent researches I am doing opened but not clog my machine? I think there should have a way that only the active tab is loaded in memory and running, and all the others should stay closed/unloaded from memory, until I want to look at them... Any extension can do something like that?

  • Help identify the layout used here?

    - by Matt Huggins
    I'm working on a layout that comprises some of the same features seen in the screenshot below, but I'm running into a bit of confusion. Can someone help me understand a few points for the screenshot below? What is the root layout used here? How do I get the button bar to remain at the bottom, while the center section scrolls when it is long enough? Similar to the Ok/Cancel buttons seen here, how do I make them each 50% width (minus some margin and padding)?

  • WPF Style Triggers: can I apply the one style for a variety of Properties?

    - by Matt H.
    It seems like there has to be a way to do this: I am applying an ItemContainerStyle in my Listbox, based on two property triggers. As you can see, I'm using the exact same set of trigger enter/exit actions, simply applied on two different properties. Is there something equivalent to a <Trigger Property="prop1" OR Property="prop2" ??? (Obviously wouldn't look like that, but that probably gets the point across.) <Style x:Key="ListBoxItemStyle" TargetType="ListBoxItem"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsKeyboardFocusWithin" Value="True"> <Trigger.EnterActions> <BeginStoryboard> <Storyboard> <DoubleAnimation Storyboard.TargetProperty="Height" To="50" Duration="0:0:.3"></DoubleAnimation> </Storyboard> </BeginStoryboard> </Trigger.EnterActions> <Trigger.ExitActions> <BeginStoryboard> <Storyboard> <DoubleAnimation Storyboard.TargetProperty="Height" To="25" Duration="0:0:.3" /> </Storyboard> </BeginStoryboard> </Trigger.ExitActions> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> <Style x:Key="ListBoxItemStyle" TargetType="ListBoxItem"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="True"> <Trigger.EnterActions> <BeginStoryboard> <Storyboard> <DoubleAnimation Storyboard.TargetProperty="Height" To="50" Duration="0:0:.3"></DoubleAnimation> </Storyboard> </BeginStoryboard> </Trigger.EnterActions> <Trigger.ExitActions> <BeginStoryboard> <Storyboard> <DoubleAnimation Storyboard.TargetProperty="Height" To="25" Duration="0:0:.3" /> </Storyboard> </BeginStoryboard> </Trigger.ExitActions> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style>

  • I know I'm doing something wrong with RaiseCanExecuteChanged and CanExecute

    - by Cowman
    Well after fiddling with MVVM light to get my button to enable and disable when I want it to... I sort of mashed things together until it worked. However, I just know I'm doing something wrong here. I have RaiseCanExecuteChanged and CanExecute in the same area being called. Surely this is not how it's done? Here's my xaml <Button Margin="10, 25, 10, 25" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Center" Width="50" Height="50" Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="3" Content="Host"> <i:Interaction.Triggers> <i:EventTrigger EventName="Click"> <mvvmLight:EventToCommand Command="{Binding HostChat}" MustToggleIsEnabled="True" /> </i:EventTrigger> </i:Interaction.Triggers> </Button> And here's my code public override void InitializeViewAndViewModel() { view = UnityContainer.Resolve<LoginPromptView>(); viewModel = UnityContainer.Resolve<LoginPromptViewModel>(); view.DataContext = viewModel; InjectViewIntoRegion(RegionNames.PopUpRegion, view, true); viewModel.HostChat = new DelegateCommand(ExecuteHostChat, CanHostChat); viewModel.PropertyChanged += new System.ComponentModel.PropertyChangedEventHandler(ViewModelPropertyChanged); } void ViewModelPropertyChanged(object sender, System.ComponentModel.PropertyChangedEventArgs e) { if (e.PropertyName == "Name" || e.PropertyName == "Port" || e.PropertyName == "Address") { (viewModel.HostChat as DelegateCommand).RaiseCanExecuteChanged(); (viewModel.HostChat as DelegateCommand).CanExecute(); } } public void ExecuteHostChat() { } public bool CanHostChat() { if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(viewModel.Address) || String.IsNullOrEmpty(viewModel.Port) || String.IsNullOrEmpty(viewModel.Name)) { return false; } else return true; } See how these two are together? Surely that can't be right. I mean... it WORKS for me... but something seems wrong about it. Shouldn't RaiseCanExecuteChanged call CanExecute? It doesn't... and so if I don't have that CanExecute in there, my control never toggles its IsEnabled like I need it to. (viewModel.HostChat as DelegateCommand).RaiseCanExecuteChanged(); (viewModel.HostChat as DelegateCommand).CanExecute();

  • WPF/INotifyPropertyChanged, change the value of txtA, the txtB and txtC should change automatically?

    - by user1033098
    I supposed, once i change the value of txtA, the txtB and txtC would change automatically, since i have implemented INotifyPropertyChanged for ValueA. But they were not updated on UI. txtB was always 100, and txtC was always -50. I don't know what's the reason. My Xaml.. <Window x:Class="WpfApplicationReviewDemo.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525"> <StackPanel> <TextBox Name="txtA" Text="{Binding ValueA}" /> <TextBox Name="txtB" Text="{Binding ValueB}" /> <TextBox Name="txtC" Text="{Binding ValueC}" /> </StackPanel> </Window> My code behind... public partial class MainWindow : Window { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); this.DataContext = new Model(); } } public class Model : INotifyPropertyChanged { private decimal valueA; public decimal ValueA { get { return valueA; } set { valueA = value; PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("ValueA")); } } private decimal valueB; public decimal ValueB { get { valueB = ValueA + 100; return valueB; } set { valueB = value; PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("ValueB")); } } private decimal valueC; public decimal ValueC { get { valueC = ValueA - 50; return valueC; } set { valueC = value; PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("ValueC")); } } #region INotifyPropertyChanged Members public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; #endregion } After i add code to the set method of ValueA property, it works. public decimal ValueA { get { return valueA; } set { valueA = value; PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("ValueA")); PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("ValueB")); PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("ValueC")); } } But I supposed it should be automatically refresh/updated for txtB and txtC. Please advise.

  • Does Math.Sqrt cache its own results?

    - by Jonathan Beerhalter
    Someone has suggested to me that the built in C# Math.Sqrt function in .NET 4.0 caches its results, so that if I call Math.Sqrt(50) over and over again, it's not actually doing a sqrt, but just pulling the answer from a cache. Can anyone verify or deny this claim? If it's true then I have a bunch of needless caching going on in my code.

  • What does ON [PRIMARY] mean?

    - by Icono123
    I'm creating an SQL setup script and I'm using someone else's script as an example. Here's an example of the script: SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO CREATE TABLE [dbo].[be_Categories]( [CategoryID] [uniqueidentifier] ROWGUIDCOL NOT NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_be_Categories_CategoryID] DEFAULT (newid()), [CategoryName] [nvarchar](50) NULL, [Description] [nvarchar](200) NULL, [ParentID] [uniqueidentifier] NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_be_Categories] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [CategoryID] ASC )WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY] ) ON [PRIMARY] GO Does anyone know what the ON [PRIMARY] command does? Regards.
