  • Error building java project

    - by Leandro
I have tryied to build my project in netbeans 6.8/ windows xp, and I've received this errors: ..\nbproject\build-impl.xml:452: The following error occurred while executing this line: ..\nbproject\build-impl.xml:224: Compile failed; see the compiler error output for details.output for details. The lines are, respectively: 452: `<j2seproject3:javac gensrcdir="${build.generated.sources.dir}"/>` 224: <javac debug="@{debug}" deprecation="${javac.deprecation}" destdir="@{destdir}" encoding="${source.encoding}" excludes="@{excludes}" fork="${javac.fork}" includeantruntime="false" includes="@{includes}" source="${javac.source}" sourcepath="@{sourcepath}" srcdir="@{srcdir}" target="${javac.target}" tempdir="${java.io.tmpdir}"> I have tried to reinstall netbeans, java, and anything more...but I can't resolve this error. Do someone know how can I fix it? All the best! Leandro

  • How can HTML5 "replace" Flash?

    - by Kassini
A topic of debate that's seen a resurgence since the unveiling of the iPad is the issue of Flash versus HTML5. There are those that suggest that HTML5 will one day supplant/replace Adobe Flash. I do not develop software that runs in a browser, so my (limited) understanding is: HTML is a pure-text markup language that is delivered over HTTP to a client browser. The client browser interprets the markup and renders (with varying degrees of success) the page according to an standard specification. Adobe Flash is a propriety framework for working with audio, video, sound and raster/vector graphics. It requires special authoring tools (a compiler perhaps?) and a custom player that's available as a plug-in to most common browsers. Could someone please explain (to this C/C++ developer) how it is possible from a technical/coding point-of-view that a text-based markup language (HTML5) could be considered a replacement to a multimedia framework (Flash)? Please no opinionated arguments - just technical facts.

  • How do I compile boost using __cdecl calling convention?

    - by Sorin Sbarnea
I have a project compiled using __cdecl calling convention (msvc2010) and I compiled boost using the same compiler using the default settings. The project linked with boost but I at runtime I got an assert message like this: File: ...\boost\boost\program_options\detail\parsers.hpp Line: 79 Run-Time Check Failure #0 - The value of ESP was not properly saved across a function call. This is usually a result of calling a function declared with one calling convention with a function pointer declared with a different calling convention. There are the following questions: what calling convention does boost build with by default on Windows (msvc2010) how to I compile boost with __cdecl calling convention why boost wasn't able to prevent linking with code with different calling conventions? I understood that boost has really smart library auto-inclusion code.

  • struct method linking

    - by James
I'm updating some old code that has several POD structs that were getting zero'd out by memset (don't blame me...I didn't write this part). Part of the update changed some of them to classes that use private internal pointers that are now getting wiped out by the memset. So I added a [non-virtual] reset() method to the various structs and refactored the code to call that instead. One particular struct developed an "undefined reference to `blah::reset()'" error. Changing it from a struct to a class fixed the error. Calling nm on the .o file h, the mangled function names for that method look the same (whether it's a class or a struct). I'm using g++ 4.4.1, on Ubuntu. I hate the thought that this might be a compiler/linker bug, but I'm not sure what else it could be. Am I missing some fundamental difference between structs and classes? I thought the only meaningful ones were the public/private defaults and the way everyone thinks about them.

  • compiling actionscript from command line using MXMLC

    - by I. J. Kennedy
I have a tiny actionscript "project" consisting of two files, call them foo.as and bar.as. For reasons I won't go into, I really really want to build the .SWF from the command line, without setting up a formal project of any kind. Every compiler I've ever used lets you do this, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to coerce MXMLC into compiling these two files and linking them into a SWF. Naively, I try MXMLC foo.as bar.as but I'm informed that only one source file is allowed. Ok, supposing I compiled these two files separately, how would I link them together to get the final SWF? NOTE: The only reason I have two files instead of one is the requirement of only one class per file. I tried putting both classes in one file and making one of the classes "private" or "internal" but neither of these ideas worked. I would be ecstatic to find out I can put more than one class in a file (with only one being public).

  • TAPI App on 64bits OS

    - by mvg
I have a TAPI Application (Delphi 2007) working on 32bits OSs (XP, Vista, Win7). The TAPI server is 32bits Windows 2003 SP2. While TAPI APP is running on 64bits OS, I can connect to the line but i cannot get TAPI messages on my App. I can see messages have arrived on machine through Tracing tapisrv but the WaitForSingleObjectEx to the event handle (returned by lineInitializeEx) is never signaled (always returns WAIT_TIMEOUT). I've also tried C++ code and 64bits compiler but the 64bits App had the same behavior (except not even starting on 32bits OS :-) ). Is there any ideas how i can receive the TAPI messages to my App??? EDIT: Well, it seems that only the messages regarding incoming calls are cut. If (while App is running) i execute "tcmsetup /c /d" (=disable TAPI) then i DO receive LINE_CLOSE and LINE_REMOVE messages. Then, if i execute "tcmsetup /c server_name", i DO get the LINE_CREATE message. I can lineOpen the new line provided but still CANNOT get LINE_APPNEWCALL, LINE_CALLSTATE etc

  • Is it possible to add -pedantic to GCC command line, yet have it not warn about 'long long'

    - by doublep
I'm using mostly GCC to develop my library, but I'd like to ensure cross-compiler compatibility and especially standard conformance as much as possible. For this, I have add several -W... flags to command line. I'd also add -pedantic, but I have a problem with its warning about long long type. The latter is important for my library and is properly guarded with #if code, i.e. is not compiled on compilers that don't know it anyway. In short: can I have GCC in -pedantic mode warn about any extension except long long?

  • C# 4: conflicting overloaded methods with optional parameters

    - by Thomas
I have two overloaded methods, one with an optional parameter. void foo(string a) { } void foo(string a, int b = 0) { } now I call: foo("abc"); interestingly the first overload is called. why not the second overload with optional value set to zero? To be honest, I would have expect the compiler to bring an error, at least a warning to avoid unintentional execution of the wrong method. What's the reason for this behaviour? Why did the C# team define it that way? Thanks for your opinions!

  • The Benefits of Constants

    - by onaclov2000
I understand one of the big deals about constants is that you don't have to go through and update code where that constant is used all over the place. Thats great, but let's say you don't explicitly declare it as a constant. What benefit(s) exist(s) to take a variable that HAPPENS to actually not be changed and make it a constant, will this save on processing, and/or size of code...etc? Basically I have a program that the compiler is saying that a particular variable is not changed and thus can be declared a constant, I just wanted to know what the benefit to adding the constant qualifier to it would be, if it makes no difference then making that change adds no value and thus no point wasting time (this same scenario occurs in more then one place) going back and "fixing" all these variables. Thank you, onaclov

  • QWidget keyPressEvent override

    - by eaigner
Hi there, I'm trying for half an eternity now overriding QWidgets keyPressEvent function in QT but it just won't work. I've to say i am new to CPP, but I know ObjC and standard C. My problem looks like this: class QSGameBoard : public QWidget { Q_OBJECT public: QSGameBoard(QWidget *p, int w, int h, QGraphicsScene *s); signals: void keyCaught(QKeyEvent *e); protected: virtual void keyPressEvent(QKeyEvent *event); }; QSGameBoard is my QWidget subclass and i need to override the keyPressEvent and fire a SIGNAL on each event to notify some registered objects. My overridden keyPressEvent in QSGameBoard.cpp looks like this: void QSGameBoard::keyPressEvent(QKeyEvent *event) { printf("\nkey event in board: %i", event->key()); //emit keyCaught(event); } When i change QSGameBoard:: to QWidget:: it receives the events, but i cant emit the signal because the compiler complains about the scope. And if i write it like this the function doesn't get called at all. What's the problem here?

  • Using a member function pointer within a class

    - by neuviemeporte
Given an example class: class Fred { public: Fred() { func = &Fred::fa; } void run() { int foo, bar; *func(foo, bar); } double fa(int x, int y); double fb(int x, int y); private: double (Fred::*func)(int x, int y); }; I get a compiler error at the line calling the member function through the pointer "*func(foo, bar)", saying: "term does not evaluate to a function taking 2 arguments". What am I doing wrong?

  • XmlSerializer throws exception when serializing dynamically loaded type

    - by Dr. Sbaitso
    Hi I'm trying to use the System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer to serialize a dynamically loaded (and compiled class). If I build the class in question into the main assembly, everything works as expected. But if I compile and load the class from an dynamically loaded assembly, the XmlSerializer throws an exception. What am I doing wrong? I've created the following .NET 3.5 C# application to reproduce the issue: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Xml.Serialization; using System.Text; using System.Reflection; using System.CodeDom.Compiler; using Microsoft.CSharp; public class StaticallyBuiltClass { public class Item { public string Name { get; set; } public int Value { get; set; } } private List<Item> values = new List<Item>(); public List<Item> Values { get { return values; } set { values = value; } } } static class Program { static void Main() { RunStaticTest(); RunDynamicTest(); } static void RunStaticTest() { Console.WriteLine("-------------------------------------"); Console.WriteLine(" Serializing StaticallyBuiltClass..."); Console.WriteLine("-------------------------------------"); var stat = new StaticallyBuiltClass(); Serialize(stat.GetType(), stat); Console.WriteLine(); } static void RunDynamicTest() { Console.WriteLine("-------------------------------------"); Console.WriteLine(" Serializing DynamicallyBuiltClass..."); Console.WriteLine("-------------------------------------"); CSharpCodeProvider csProvider = new CSharpCodeProvider(new Dictionary<string, string> { { "CompilerVersion", "v3.5" } }); CompilerParameters csParams = new System.CodeDom.Compiler.CompilerParameters(); csParams.GenerateInMemory = true; csParams.GenerateExecutable = false; csParams.ReferencedAssemblies.Add("System.dll"); csParams.CompilerOptions = "/target:library"; StringBuilder classDef = new StringBuilder(); classDef.AppendLine("using System;"); classDef.AppendLine("using System.Collections.Generic;"); classDef.AppendLine(""); classDef.AppendLine("public class DynamicallyBuiltClass"); classDef.AppendLine("{"); classDef.AppendLine(" public class Item"); classDef.AppendLine(" {"); classDef.AppendLine(" public string Name { get; set; }"); classDef.AppendLine(" public int Value { get; set; }"); classDef.AppendLine(" }"); classDef.AppendLine(" private List<Item> values = new List<Item>();"); classDef.AppendLine(" public List<Item> Values { get { return values; } set { values = value; } }"); classDef.AppendLine("}"); CompilerResults res = csProvider.CompileAssemblyFromSource(csParams, new string[] { classDef.ToString() }); foreach (var line in res.Output) { Console.WriteLine(line); } Assembly asm = res.CompiledAssembly; if (asm != null) { Type t = asm.GetType("DynamicallyBuiltClass"); object o = t.InvokeMember("", BindingFlags.CreateInstance, null, null, null); Serialize(t, o); } Console.WriteLine(); } static void Serialize(Type type, object o) { var serializer = new XmlSerializer(type); try { serializer.Serialize(Console.Out, o); } catch(Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine("Exception caught while serializing " + type.ToString()); Exception e = ex; while (e != null) { Console.WriteLine(e.Message); e = e.InnerException; Console.Write("Inner: "); } Console.WriteLine("null"); Console.WriteLine(); Console.WriteLine("Stack trace:"); Console.WriteLine(ex.StackTrace); } } } which generates the following output: ------------------------------------- Serializing StaticallyBuiltClass... ------------------------------------- <?xml version="1.0" encoding="IBM437"?> <StaticallyBuiltClass xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Values /> </StaticallyBuiltClass> ------------------------------------- Serializing DynamicallyBuiltClass... ------------------------------------- Exception caught while serializing DynamicallyBuiltClass There was an error generating the XML document.   • Application compiled by Flex Builder 3 does not trace

    - by Bart van Heukelom
I've built a simple application in Flex Builder 3 with some trace() calls. It's an "ActionScript Project", no MXML or AIR involved. I don't run the app from within Eclipse, I just open the generated html file with Firefox. I'm using the Flash Player 10 Debug version. I've correctly set mm.cnf to log trace output, following the official instructions. A flashlog.txt file is generate in the appropriate location. Despite all that, trace output is not shown in the log file. What am I doing wrong? (I suspect it's a compiler option, but I can find no such option in the project options in FlexBuilder) (If I do run the app from Eclipse, by pressing F11, I can see trace output but only inside Eclipse, not in the log file)

  • GCC (ld) option to strip unreferenced data/functions

    - by legends2k
I've written an program which uses a library which has numerous functuions, but I only limited functions from it. GCC is the compiler I use. Once I've created a binary, when I used nm to see the symbols in it, it shows all the unwanted (unreferenced) functions which are never used. How do I removed those unreferenced functions and data from the executable? Is the -s option right? I'm tols that it strips all symbol table and relocation data from the binary, but does this remove the function and data too? I'm not sure on how to verify this too, since after using -s nm doesn't work since it's stripped all sym. table data too.

  • Lombok with Play 2

    - by Alex Povar
What about Lombok integration with Play Framework 2? I really like Lombok it make my code more readable and less boilerplate. And Play Framework is wonderful too. But there is a great trouble in case if you going to mixup them. Main reason is that scala temlates in play project compiled before domain classes. So Lombok, which itself is compiler's hack do not generate accessors for that time. The question is: if it any ways to make it work? I found some discussions in Google Groups, but they do not provide any reasonable solution. So have you got any success with it? And.. why guys from Play Framework project do not provide some Lombok-like solution? Anyway Play is full of code-generation magic and shadow compiling... so, why not?

  • #if 0 as a define

    - by valerio
I need a way to define a FLAGS_IF macro (or equivalent) such that FLAGS_IF(expression) <block_of_code> FLAGS_ENDIF when compiling in debug (e.g. with a specific compiler switch) compiles to if (MyFunction(expression)) { <block_of_code> } whereas in release does not result in any instruction, just as it was like this #if 0 <block_of_code> #endif In my ignorance on the matter of c/c++ preprocessors i can't think of any naive way (since #define FLAGS_IF(x) #if 0 does not even compile) of doing this, can you help? I need a solution that: Does not get messed up if */ is present inside <block_of_code> Is sure to generate 0 instructions in release even inside inline functions at any depth (i guess this excludes if (false){<block_of_code>} right?) Is standard compliant if possible Thank you

  • Step-by-step execution for Intel AT&T assembler?

    - by Søren Haagerup
Hello everyone, I'm writing a compiler that converts source code (written in a small imperative programming language) to Intel AT&T 32-bit assembler. I tend to spend a lot of time debugging, because of nasty offset-mistakes etc. in the generated code, and I would like to know if anyone knows of a tool to "walk through" the generated assembler code step-by-step, visualizing what's on the stack etc. I use Ubuntu Linux as my development platform, and I'm comfortable with the terminal -- a GUI-program would be nice though. Does it exist? Or is there a good reason it doesn't (maybe the problem isn't so straightforward..?) If you have good ideas for approaching debugging tasks in assembly code, I'll be glad to hear from you!

  • Activator.CreateInstance(Type) for a type without parameterless constructor

    - by Seb
Reading existing code at work, I wondered how come this could work. I have a class defined in an assembly : [Serializable] public class A { private readonly string _name; private A(string name) { _name = name; } } And in another assembly : public void f(Type t) { object o = Activator.CreateInstance(t); } and that simple call f(typeof(A)) I expected an exception about the lack of a parameterless constructor because AFAIK, if a ctor is declared, the compiler isn't supposed to generate the default public parameterless constructor. This code runs under .NET 2.0.

  • typeid , dynamic casting (upcast) and templates

    - by David
Hello, I have few questions regarding dynamic casting , typeid() and templates 1) How come typeid does not require RTTI ? 2) dynamic_cast on polymorphic type: When I do downcast (Base to Derive) with RTTI - compilation passes When RTTI is off - I get a warning (warning C4541: 'dynamic_cast' used on polymorphic type 'CBase' with /GR-; unpredictable behavior may result) When I do upcast (Derive to Base), with or without RTTI - compilation passes smoothly What I don't understand is why when I do upcast and RTTI is off - I don't get any warning/error! 3) dynamic_cast on NON polymorphic type: When I do downcast with or without RTTI - compilation fails (error C2683: 'dynamic_cast' : 'CBase' is not a polymorphic type) BUT When I do upcast with or without RTTI - compilation passes smoothly. How come on upcast on NON polymorphic type passes w/o RTTI ? 4) Does 'inline' in front of a template function has any effect, i.e. when the compiler compiles the function and see it is 'inline' it will actually treat the function as inline or it is ignored? Thank you very much for the assistance David

  • Why Automatically implemented properties must define both get and set accessors.

When we define a property like public string Name {get; set;} dot net can make our properties code. but when we use public string Name {get;} public string Name {set;} we face with 'Hajloo.SomeThing.PropertyName.set' must declare a body because it is not marked abstract or extern. Automatically implemented properties must define both get and set accessors. Actualy whay compiler can't determine the property and make code automatically ? what's happen ?

  • How Can I Check an Object to See its Type and Return A Casted Object

    - by Russ Bradberry
    I have method to which I pass an object. In this method I check it's type and depending on the type I do something with it and return a Long. I have tried every which way I can think of to do this and I always get several compiler errors telling me it expects a certain object but gets another. Can someone please explain to me what I am doing wrong and guide me in the right direction? What I have tried thus far is below: override def getInteger(obj:Object) = { if (obj.isInstanceOf[Object]) null else if (obj.isInstanceOf[Number]) (obj:Number).longValue() else if (obj.isInstanceOf[Boolean]) if (obj:Boolean) 1 else 0 else if (obj.isInstanceOf[String]) if ((obj:String).length == 0 | (obj:String) == "null") null else try { Long.parse(obj:String) } catch { case e: Exception => throw new ValueConverterException("value \"" + obj.toString() + "\" of type " + obj.getClass().getName() + " is not convertible to Long") } }
