  • Page.Request behaviour

    I have a page and few controls. I'm doing a normal postback. On InitializeCulture event of the page the Page.Request object contains e.g. controls with their values - and that's great. But on the other hand, when I'm trying to access this collection on the Page_Load or OnInit events, it's way smaller and doesn't have any of the controls that have been there before. Can anyone tell me what happens with Page.Request between these events?

    Is there any tricky way to implement a set data structure (a collection of unique values) in C? All elements in a set will be of the same type and there is a huge RAM memory. As I know, for integers it can be done really fast'N'easy using value-indexed arrays. But I'd like to have a very general Set data type. And it would be nice if a set could include itself.

  • Is it ok to reference .Net assemblies liberally?

    I'm building a WPF application and working with the MVVM pattern. I have 4 projects in my solution, 3 class libraries, Data, Model and ViewModel and the WPF executable View. Is there anything wrong with the Model referencing WindowsBase so that I can use ObservableCollection<T> for example or can I just make use of what I intuitively feel I need without worrying about the original purposes of the class in the framework e.g. collection databinding.

  • How to query across many-to-many association in NHibernate?

    I have two entities, Post and Tag. The Post entity has a collection of Tags which represents a many-to-many join between the two (that is, each post can have any number of tags and each tag can be associated with any number of posts). I am trying to retrieve all Posts which have a given tag. However, I seem to be unable to get this query right. I essentially want something which means the same as the following pseudo-HQL: from Posts p where p.Tags contains (from Tags t where t.Name = :tagName) order by p.DateTime The only thing I've found which even approaches this is a post by Ayende. However, his approach requires the entity on the other side (in my case, Tag) to have a collection showing the other end of the many-to-many. I don't have this and don't really wish to have it. I find it hard to believe this can't be done. What am I missing?   • regular expressions: ignoring certain chars globally

    Consider it that '_'s in a number doesn't change that number's value so 1000==1_000==10_00. The Problem: given numbers like 1_244_23 1412_2 1_1111 etc..., how could I decide whether certain number appears in that collection? For example: 1244_23 yes, 11_111 yes, 1412_1 no. How could using regex to solve this? I mean, if I could tell the regex engine just ignore these '_''s when matching then this problem becomes trivial? How could I do so?

I have noticed that collection types are not available as attribute types and would like to know what the most efficient way is of storing array/dictionary type data as an attribute (e.g. the elements that make up an address like street, city, etc. does not require a separate entity and is more conveniently stored as a dictionary/array than separate attributes/fields).   • Microsoft Surface: "Read" the tag value of an IdentityTag

    Hi, is it possible to read the value of an IdentityTag if you place it on the TagVisualizer, without having initalized it before? I would like to use the tags for registering a new object on the Surface but having all the "free" IdentityTags in a Collection for initalizing them all... There must be a better way to do in I think. But the TagVisualizer doesn't seem to do anything when you put a tag on it that it doesn't know.

  • Classes. Whats the point?

    I'm fairly new to OOP in PHP, I've made a couple of basic scripts but nothing impressive. All I've really taken from it is that it would probably be easier just make a collection of functions and include them. The structure of classes seems to just confuse what was otherwise a simple process. And in collating everything into a class it doesn't really add any functionality. So I'm clearly missing something. Could someone explain what functionality is added by creating classes
