• TFS 2010 build config transform problem

  Hi all, I'm facing quite a problem while setting up automated TFS Builds. Basically I created new configuration called Tests, added transform config, defined different connection strings for the Database. Then defined TFS build, building whole solution with MSBuild arguments /p:DeployOnBuild=True /p:Configuration=Tests. The problem is that in the drop location (Build_PublishedWebsites\Project) I get web.config, web.debug.config, web.release.config and web.tests.config, however I would expect just one transformed web.config. I already checked PDC presentation Web Deployment Painkillers: Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 & MS Deploy but didn't help. Thanks for any answer.

• iPhone SDK "loading" on Titanium Developer

  Hi, I have tried this question on the site of Titanium and several tweets to their account, but they either ignore me or refuse to answer. I want to start using their framework, but for some reason the iPhone SDK is always "loading" when in the "TEST & PACKAGE" tab. Have you guys found a fix for this? I have: Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Titanium Developer 1.2.1 iPhone SDK 3.2 All the certificates "blah blah" from Apple because I am able to test and deploy apps on my device using XCode. Help please :)

  Hello everybody, I have [DisplayName("Country")] public List<SelectListItem> Countries { get; set; } property in Model class for DropDownList. When I try to check if the ModelState.IsValid on form postback it's always false & error for Countries tells "Can't convert [value] to SelectListItem" or some of a kind. I figured out there is no straight-forward mapping for drop down selected value (looks like I'll have to read value from Form value collection), but how can I ignore binding and validation for List property? I just want to make ModelState.IsValid attribute to be true if all the other fields are populated properly. Thank you in advance

Help on class super in module builtins: class super(object) | super() -> same as super(__class__, <first argument>) | super(type) -> unbound super object | super(type, obj) -> bound super object; requires isinstance(obj, type) | super(type, type2) -> bound super object; requires issubclass(type2, type) Until now I've used super() only without arguments and it worked as expected (by a Java developer). Questions: What does "bound" mean in this context? What is the difference between bound and unbound super object? When to use super(type, obj) and when super(type, type2)? Would it be better to name the super class like in Mother.__init__(...)?

  Hi, i'm currently using SoapUI Free edition 3.2-beta 2. And i have a weird problem with a Xpath assertion: I have this in response: (...) And i'm using this xpath to assert that the "niveau" with id='2' is in the response: Xpath expression; //*:niveau[@id='2'] & the expected result is : but i have this error message: XPathContains comparison failed, expecting [ ], actual was [null] but if i try this : exitsts(//*:niveau[@id='2']) & the expected result is : True it works !!? But this syntax is quite difficult to read & lmaintain & i would like to use the 1st syntax (i ve tried to ignore namespace, add them.. stil doesnt work). Any idea ? Regards

  I trying to do a snapshot between SQLCE 3.5 SP1 and SQL Server 2008 by using the sync framework. I received a inner exception stated that "{"Unable to enumerate changes at the DbServerSyncProvider for table 'ArInvoice' in synchronization group 'ArInvoiceSyncTableSyncGroup'."}". The inner text for the inner exception stated that "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.". And the item for the inner exception indicated that "In order to evaluate an indexed property, the property must be qualified and the arguments must be explicitly supplied by the user.". What is going wrong? Any setting i miss out?

  I'm writing a function to produce time series plots of stock prices. However, I'm getting the following error "Error in df[, 7] : object of type 'closure' is not subsettable" Here's an example of the function: plot.prices <- function(df) { require(ggplot2) g <- ggplot(df, aes(x= as.Date(Date, format= "%Y-%m-%d"), y= df[, 7])) + geom_point(size=1) # ... code not shown... g } And example data: spy <- read.csv(file= 'http://ichart.finance.yahoo.com/table.csv?s=SPY&d=11&e=1&f=2012&g=d&a=0&b=29&c=1993&ignore=.csv', header= T) plot.prices(spy) # produces error ggplot(spy, aes(x= as.Date(Date, format= "%Y-%m-%d"), y= spy[, 7])) + geom_point(size=1) ## does not produce error As you can see, the code is identical. I get an error if the call to ggplot() is INSIDE the function but not if the call to ggplot() is OUTSIDE the function. Anyone have any idea why the seeming contradiction?

  Hello, I would like to pass the multiple arguments with positive or negative values. Is it possible to parse it? Currently I have a following initialization: vector<int> IDlist; namespace po = boost::program_options; po::options_description commands("Allowed options"); commands.add_options() ("IDlist",po::value< vector<int> >(&IDlist)->multitoken(), "Which IDs to trace: ex. --IDlist=0 1 200 -2") ("help","print help") ; and I would like to call: ./test_ids.x --IDlist=0 1 200 -2 unknown option -2 So,the program_options assumes that I am passing -2 as an another option. I have built my own little custom XML-RPC server, and since I'd like to keep things simple, on both server and client side, what I would like to accomplish is to create a simplest possible client (in C# preferably) using WCF. Let's say that Contract for service exposed via XML-RPC is as follows: [ServiceContract] public interface IContract { [OperationContract(Action="Ping")] string Ping(); // server returns back string "Pong" [OperationContract(Action="Echo")] string Echo(string message); // server echoes back whatever message is } So, there are two example methods, one without any arguments, and another with simple string argument, both returning strings (just for sake of example). Service is exposed via http. Aaand, what's next? :)

• Why not port Linux kernel to Common Lisp?

  Conventional wisdom states that OS kernels must be written in C in order to achieve the necessary levels of performance. This has been the justification for not using more expressive high level languages. However, for a few years now implementations of Common Lisp such as SBCL have proven to be just as performant as C. What then are the arguments against redoing the kernel in a powerfully expressive language, namely Common Lisp? I don't think anyone (at least anyone who knows what they are talking about) could argue against the fact that the benefits in transparency and readability would be tremendous, not to mention all the things that can't be done in C that can be done in Lisp, but there may be implementation details that would make this a bad idea.

• UpdatePanel + ToolkitScriptManager work in FF but blows up in IE 6+

  I just upgraded my ASP.NET application from AjaxToolkit version 1.0 to version 3.5. The only code that I had to change as a result of the upgrade was to replace instances of ScriptManager with ToolKitScriptManager. UpdatePanels that used to work flawlessly in both FF and IE6+ now only work in FF. The specific problem in IE is twofold: PostBackTriggers don't perform any PostBack at all (i.e button clicks do nothing) AsyncPostBackTriggers do perform an async PostBack, but outside of a single hidden field (created by the ToolKitScriptManager itself) no ViewState is being sent back to the server for any controls. Needless to say, controls tend to fail in rather spectacular fashion when they can't access their ViewState during a PostBack. :) The only thing I can think of that would account for this only failing in IE6+, is that there is some malformed JavaScript getting piped down that FF is able to work around/ignore but that causes IE to self-destruct Downgrading to the 1.0 version of AjaxToolkit would probably fix this issue, but there are several key features in the 3.5 I need to leverage so this would be painful.   Hello. I am trying to create a tree structure with graphviz. I am open to either writing the graphviz code by hand or using the ruby-graphviz gem for ruby. Given the below picture can anyone provide any insight on the necessary code? Ignore that the lines are not straight...they should be when graphviz builds the graph. I am open to having dots/points when lines intersect as well. I have played with ruby-graphviz and the family tree class...this is getting me part of the way there but I really need all lines to be straight and intersect at right angles and the out-of-the-box code doesn't seem to do that.

• Running msiexec from a service (Local System account)

  We are working on an update system for our software. The updater should in the background as a service, and when an update is available, downloads and installs it. We need the service to install the update since the msi requires elevation to run, but some of our clients will be restricted users. The MSI is a WIX MSI and does a Major Upgrade when run. The problem is, the update does not seem to work when ran from our service. I can see msiexec run, and it returns successfully, but seems to make no changes to the system. The same command, when run from my user account works as expected. Is there some caveat to running msiexec from a Local System service? We are simply doing: System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("msiexec.exe", arguments);

• jQuery in sharepoint retruning Object Expected

  When I add jquery to sharepoint 2007 (MOSS) and try and use it on a page no matter what I write on the client i get an "object expected" at the line/column where the "$" appears. I have used fiddler to check that the client is downloading the query JS (which it is) But its like its being ignore and therefor eth "$" is not understood. Searching google everybody is saying its the selector not finding the elements but see code below I do not see how it can not find my very simple example. • Clean conflicting class files from Temporary ASP.NET Files

  Class file Conflicts in C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\ is preventing me from building the solution. Even though I try emptying out the folder, each time Visual Studio starts the build process, it brings in the class file in to the temp folder with the same folder name. If I restart the machine or leave it overnight, project build without error. Is there anyway to tell Visual studio to delete/ignore/clean any lingering class files that could be in the temp folder? Clean solution option in VS doesn't work either. Class file in conflict are from the App_Code folder.

And worse is i'm using Cufon to replace the font but Cufon doesn't support blur of text-shadow I guess maybe i should use JS to make this effect, but i doubt JS will work together with Cufon, or JS font replacement together with JS shadow maker? Any ideas?

• Printing PDFs Server-side using Acrobat Reader from ASP.NET

  Hi, I have been presented with a problem which requires me to print PDF files from a server as part of an ASP.NET web service. The problem is further complicated by the fact that the PDF files I have to print can ONLY be printed using Adobe Reader (they were created using Adobe LiveCycle and have some strange protection in them). This piece of code seems to do the trick in the Visual Studio development web server, but doesn't do anything when the site's running in IIS. I'm assuming this is probably some sort of permissions issue!? I know this is a FAR from ideal thing to be trying to do, but I haven't really got much choice! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! • How to activate SSL(HTTPS) in Glassfish 3.0 embedded API?

  We are implementing an application with a webservice as component and decided to use the Glassfish 3.0 embedded distri to provide the webservice. And it works. We need a SSL(HTTPS) connection to the webservice, but we didn't find any documentation or hint how to activate it programmatically via the embedded API. Thus we tried to configure the embedded Glassfish via domain.xml, what has a listener configured with SSL. And the port is reachable but only without SSL. The embedded Glassfish seem to ignore the configuration to activate SSL for the port. Has anyone experience in configuring embedded Glassfish with SSL?

• CLang error (objective C): value stored during initialization is never read

  Foo *oFoo = [[[Foo alloc] init] autorelease]; This is how I was taught to program in Objective C, yet the CLang error checker complains that the initial value was never read. But oFoo is an object with properties. oFoo itself has no single value. The property values are what matter. oFoo.PropertyA = 1; oFoo.PropertyB = @"Hello, World." Should I just ignore this? Is this worth fixing? What is the fix, seeing that "initial value" is meaningless in my context?
