  While converting a project that used SlimDX, and therefore has unmanaged code, to .NET 4.0 I ran into the following error: Mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v2.0.50727' of the runtime and cannot be loaded in the 4.0 runtime without additional configuration information. Googling around gave me the solution, which is to add this to the applications config: <configuration> <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> <supportedRuntime version="v4.0"/> </startup> </configuration> My question is, what is the useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy doing? I can't find any documentation about it.

• What does a "WARNING: did not see LOP_CKPT_END" message mean on SQL Server 2005?

  The above error message comes up just before SQL Server marks the database as "Suspect" and refuses to open it. Does anyone know what the message means and how to fix it? I think it's a matter of grabbing the backup, but would be nice if it was possible to recover the data. I've had a look at the kb article but there are no transactions to resolve.

• Functions connected to signals in QtScript (on Qt 4.5.2) are not firing

  I've injected into a proprietary Qt (4.5.2) application, added my own compatible build of QtScript, and have managed to get access to all the signals I need. However, when connecting to them (via QtScript) my functions are never called. I've come up with a few theories for why this is and I've tested everything I can think of, but I've hit a bit of a wall. Note, I've never had any connection exceptions whatsoever. Here are my current theories: The signals I'm connecting to are already connected to other slots, and that's somehow blocking it (but as far as I know, all Qt signals fire to all slots with no extra work, and can't be restricted in this way) The signals are rejecting my connection, or disconnecting me after connection (but I see no facility for this) My connection is happening from another thread, and this is somehow causing it not to connect properly Are any of these theories plausible? If not, what have I missed?

• using Silverlight 3's HtmlPage.Window.Navigate method to reuse an already open browser window

  Hi, I want to use an external browser window to implement a preview functionality in a silverlight application. There is a list of items and whenever the user clicks one of these items, it's opened in a separate browser window (the content is a pdf document, which is why it is handled ouside of the SL app). Now, to achieve this, I simply use HtmlPage.Window.Navigate(new Uri("http://www.bing.com")); which works fine. Now my client doesn't like the fact that every click opens up a new browser window. He would like to see the browser window reused every time an item is clicked. So I went out and tried implementing this: Option 1 - Use the overload of the Navigate method, like so: HtmlPage.Window.Navigate(new Uri("http://www.bing.com"), "foo"); I was assuming that the window would be reused when the same target parameter value (foo) would be used in subsequent calls. This does not work. I get a new window every time. Option 2 - Use the PopupWindow method on the HtmlPage HtmlPage.PopupWindow(new Uri("http://www.bing.com"), "blah", new HtmlPopupWindowOptions()); This does not work. I get a new window every time. Option 3 - Get a handle to the opened window and reuse that in subsequent calls private HtmlWindow window; private void navigationButton_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { if (window == null) window = HtmlPage.Window.Navigate(new Uri("http://www.bing.com"), "blah"); else window.Navigate(new Uri("http://www.bing.com"), "blah"); if (window == null) MessageBox.Show("it's null"); } This does not work. This does work. The only thing is that the window behaves a little strange and I'm not sure why: I'm behind a proxy and in all other scenarios I'm being prompted for my password. In this case however I am not (and am thus not able to reach the external site - bing in this case). This is not really a huge issue atm, but I just don't understand what's goign on here. Whenever I type another url in the address bar of the popup window (eg www.google.com) and press enter, it opens up another window and prompts me for my proxy password. As a temporary solution option 5 could do, but I don't like the fact that Silverlight is not able to manage this. One of the main reasons my client has opted for Silverlight is to be protected against all the browser specific hacking that comes with javascript. Am I doing something wrong? I'm definitely no javascript expert, so I'm hoping it's something obvious I'm missing here. Cheers, Phil

• WPF - Overlapping Custom Tabs in a TabControl and ZIndex

  Problem I have a custom tab control using Chrome-shaped tabs that binds to a ViewModel. Because of the shape, the edges overlap a bit. I have a function that sets the tabItem's ZIndex on TabControl_SelectionChanged which works fine for selecting tabs, and dragging/dropping tabs, however when I Add or Close a tab via a Relay Command I am getting unusual results. Does anyone have any ideas? I know some of the changes are in effect because if none of them were working then the tab edges would be reversed (the right tabs would be drawn on top of the left ones). Clicking a tab will correctly set the zindex of all tabs (including the one that should be drawn on top) and dragging/dropping them to rearrange them also renders correctly (which removes and reinserts the tab item). The only difference I can think of is I am using the MVVM design pattern and the buttons that Add/Close tabs are relay commands. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how I can fix it?? p.s. I did try setting a ZIndex in my ViewModel and binding to it, however the same thing happens when adding/removing tabs via the relay command. EDIT: Being a new user I couldn't post images and could only post 1 link. Images just show a picture of what the tags render as after each scenario. Adding more then 1 at a time will not reset the zindex of other recently-added tabs so they go behind the tab on the Right, and closing tabs does not correctly render the ZIndex of the SelectedTab that replaces it and it shows up behind the tab on its right.

• IE8 Fixed Header, scrollable GridView

  I know this topic has been asked, but the posts are all out of date, or not functional on IE8. In brief we basically want to do the excel style locking of column headers in a GridView. I have seen a couple of solutions one jquery+ css(setExpression) which doesn't work in IE8. And another that uses ajax extensions, yet again doesn't work in IE8. I have been through every solution in the below link and have yet to find a working implementation for IE8. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2205271/gridview-how-to-make-fixed-header-row I see telerik has an implementation that is more thank what i want, this is such a simple concept I can believe i am going to have to buy a toolkit...

  Hi, I have made an bar RadChart with "SeriesOrientation="Horizontal"". I have the text showing at the end for each bars, but instead I would like that text to be listet in the y-axis, instead of the 1,2,3.. numbers. It seems like i'm not allow to set any text in the y-axis, is there a property I can set?   Hi, Can i use Atomic in the parrent procedure as well as in the procedure which the mail procedure calls. My procedure compiles perfectly, but sometimes when I execute it. I receive following error: DB2 Database Error: ERROR [58004] [IBM][DB2/NT64] SQL0901N The SQL statement failed because of a non-severe system error. Subsequent SQL statements can be processed. (Reason "Sdir len bad: 1542!=1520+14".) SQLSTATE=58004 However, surprisingly when i commented the "ATOMIC" keyword in the main procedure and ran again it ran perfectly. But when I ran it again after uncommenting it still did not give any errors and ran perfectly. So the error that I recieve is not something that I recive everytime.Could some one please let me know what could be the issue and what needs to be done to resolve this. As on goolgeing I did not find any leads on this. Thanks, Harveer

  Hi, I usually create my projects without IB-stuff. The first thing I do is to strip off all references to xibs, outlets updated plist, etc and so forth. No problems, works great (in my world)! Now, I just installed 3.2 and tried to develop my first iPad app. Following same procedure as before, I created a UISplitView-based application project and stripped off all IB-stuff. Also, I followed the section in Apple's reference docs: "Creating a Split View Controller Programmatically", http://bit.ly/axgYAs, but nevertheless, the Master-view is never shown, only the Detail-view is (no matter what the orientation is). I really have tried to carefully look this through but I cannot understand what I have missed. Is there a working example of a UISplitViewController without the nibs floating around somewhere? I have googled but could not find any. Or do you know what I probably have missed? Regards, /Steve PS. Spare me the lesson why I should use the IB ;-) DS.

Now when i try to open that project, it is showing error "This version of visual studio does not support source control" and " Unexpected error enocountered. Restart the application Error : no such interfaces are supported File : vsee\internal\vscomptr.inl". When i open solution explorer, all projects are showing as unavailable. I tried VS--Tools--options-- source control--plugin selection and set plug in to Microsoft "Visual source safe" and when i open "Environment" tab it is showing "an error occured while loading this property page" Can someone help me???

What can i do to get the value of the node as a complete String, instead of broken parts? Thank you in advance.

  I'm developing an Asynchronous Game Server using .Net Socket Asynchronous Model( BeginAccept/EndAccept...etc.) The problem I'm facing is described like that: When I have only one client connected, the server response time is very fast but once a second client connects, the server response time increases too much. I've measured the time from a client sends a message to the server until it gets the reply in both cases. I found that the average time in case of one client is about 17ms and in case of 2 clients about 280ms!!! What I really see is that: When 2 clients are connected and only one of them is moving(i.e. requesting service from the server) it is equivalently equal to the case when only one client is connected(i.e. fast response). However, when the 2 clients move at the same time(i.e. requests service from the server at the same time) their motion becomes very slow (as if the server replies each one of them in order i.e. not simultaneously). Basically, what I am doing is that: When a client requests a permission for motion from the server and the server grants him the request, the server then broadcasts the new position of the client to all the players. So if two clients are moving in the same time, the server is eventually trying to broadcast to both clients the new position of each of them at the same time. EX: Client1 asks to go to position (2,2) Client2 asks to go to position (5,5) Server sends to each of Client1 & Client2 the same two messages: message1: "Client1 at (2,2)" message2: "Client2 at (5,5)" I believe that the problem comes from the fact that Socket class is thread safe according MSDN documentation http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.net.sockets.socket.aspx.   So, I'm using URL routing with WebForms. I run locally through the Visual Studio web server, and everything is hunky-dory. I deploy locally to IIS (XP, so it's IIS5), and therefore I need to make sure that I have my app wildcard mapped so the URL routing is handled properly. However, doing this makes all my PageMethods fail with this message: The HTTP verb POST used to access path is not allowed Something like /default.aspx/SendMessage does not work. I've seen solutions that exclude .svx and .asmx files, however, since this is a page method, this is a .aspx file. I know the solution is to move these files outside of .aspx, however, I have quite a few functions throughout the site in these various files. I guess I could create a single web service, and have all the functions there, however, I'm curious if there's a quick and easy way to fix this? Thanks all, -Steve
