  I've started messing around with the DGML viewer in VS 2010 (which seems awesome). I know you can create diagrams from your code base. Is there any support for creating a directed graph from whatever I like, or is it purely a code analysis tool? I'd like something along the lines of 'Add Node' or something.

• Including an embedded framework using a cross-project-reference: Header no such file or directory

  I'm trying to create a Cocoa framework by using a cross-project reference in Xcode. I have 2 projects: one for the framework; one for the application that will use the framework. This framework is not intended to be stored within the system; it is an embedded framework that lives within the application bundle. I have successfully made the cross-project reference, marked the framework as being a dependency of my target, added a Copy Files build phase that puts the framework in Contents/Frameworks/ and added the framework to the linker phase (I checked the little "Target" checkbox; I've also done it manually by dragging the framework into the linker phase). My framework's install directory is correctly set to @executable_path/../Frameworks. However, when I try to build my app it: a) Correctly builds the framework first b) Correctly copies the framework c) Errors because it cannot find the master header file in my framework I have verified that the header is there. I can see it in the app product that is partially built. ls build/Debug/CioccolataTest.webapp/Contents/Frameworks/Cioccolata.framework/Headers/Cioccolata.h build/Debug/CioccolataTest.webapp/Contents/Frameworks/Cioccolata.framework/Headers/Cioccolata.h I have been able to successfully build the app by copying my framework into /Library/Frameworks (I can then delete it again after the successful build), but this is a workaround, I'm looking to find it out why Xcode doesn't find the framework's master header file without it being copied to a system directory. Is copying it to the app bundle during the build not sufficient? The user is able to navigate from cell to cell within the matrix and I would like to highlight the data in the selected textbox but it doesn't work. I called TextBox.Focus () and TextBox.SelectAll () to achieve the effect but nothing. The Focus () works but the text never gets highlighted. Any help is welcome and appreciated.

• Silverlight 4 Default Button Service

  For a few months I have been successfully using David Justices Default Button example in my SL 3 app. This approach is based on an attached property. After upgrading to SL4, the approach no longer works, and I get a XAML exception: "Unknown parser error: Scanner 2148474880" Has anyone succesfully used this (or any other) default button attached behaviours in SL4? Is there any other way to achieve default button behaviour in SL4 with the new classes that are available? Thanks, Mark

  .load() was working fine, but for some reason it's not in Chrome now (presumably some kind of update). I'm on Chrome 5.0.375.55. • Animating the offset of the scrollView in a UICollectionView/UITableView causes prematurely disappearing cells

  We have a UICollectionView with a custom layout very similar to UITableView (it scrolls vertically). The UICollectionView displays only 3 cells simultaneously, with one of them being the currently active cell: [ 1 ] [*2*] [ 3 ] (The active cell here is #2.) The cells are roughly 280 points high, so only the active cell is fully visible on the screen. The user doesn't directly scroll the view to navigate, instead, she swipes the active cell horizontally to advance to the next cell. We then do some fancy animations and scroll the UICollectionView so the next cell is in the "active" position, thus making it the active one, moving the old one away and bringing up the next cell in the queue: [ 2 ] [*3*] [ 4 ] The problem here is setting the UICollectionView's offset. We currently set it in a UIView animation block (self.collectionView.contentOffset = targetOffset;) along with three other animating properties, which mostly works great, but causes the first cell (the previously active one, in the latter case, #2) to vanish as soon as the animation starts running, even before the delay interval completes. This is definitely not ideal. I've thought of some solutions, but can't figure out the best one: Absurdly enlarge the UICollectionView's frame to fit five cells instead of three, thus forcing it to keep the cells in memory even if they are offscreen. I've tried this and it works, but it sounds like an awfully dirty hack. Take a snapshot of the rendered content of the vanishing cell, put it in a UIImageView, add the UIImageView as a subview of the scrollView just before the cell goes away in the exact same position of the old cell, removing it once the animation ends. Sounds less sucky than the previous option (memory-wise, at least), but still kinda hacky. I also don't know the best way to accomplish this, please point me in the right direction. Switch to UIScrollView's setContentOffset:animated:. We actually used to have this, and it fixed the disappearing cell issue, but running this in parallel with the other UIView animations apparently competes for the attention of the main thread, thus creating a terribly choppy animation on single-core devices (iPhone 3GS/4). It also doesn't allow us to change the duration or easing of the animation, so it feels out of sync with the rest. Still an option if we can find a way to make it work in harmony with the UIView block animations. Switch to UICollectionView's scrollToItemAtIndexPath:atScrollPosition:animated:. Haven't tried this, but it has a big downside: it only takes 3 possible constants (that apply to this case, at least) for the target scroll position: UICollectionViewScrollPositionTop, UICollectionViewScrollPositionCenteredVertically and UICollectionViewScrollPositionBottom. The active cell could vary its height, but it always has to be 35 points from the top of the window, and these options don't provide enough control to accomplish the design. It could also potentially be just as problematic as 3.1. Still an option because there might be a way to go around the scroll position thing that I don't know of, and it might not have the same issue with the main thread, which seems unlikely. • How to organize Python modules for PyPI to support 2.x and 3.x

  I have a Python module that I would like to upload to PyPI. So far, it is working for Python 2.x. It shouldn't be too hard to write a version for 3.x now. But, after following guidelines for making modules in these places: Distributing Python Modules The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Packaging it's not clear to me how to support multiple source distributions for different versions of Python, and it's not clear if/how PyPI could support it. I envisage I would have separate code for: 2.x 2.6 (maybe, as a special case to use the new buffer API) 3.x How is it possible to set up a Python module in PyPI so that someone can do: easy_install modulename and it will install the right thing whether the user is using 2.x or 3.x?

• HTMLUNIT Facebook javascript warning

  Hi I am trying to create simple application that would be able to search people on facebook using given e-mail. I am already able to log into an account using the HTMLunit tool and even create a page, which should throw result of my search. But when I try to print the result as XML the file is missing some blocks of javascript results (I can tell that they are missing by comparing file created by my application and source code, that can be viewed by using IE) Is there any way around this? I just need to get the same result IE's showsource function does. Thanks a lot.   After much struggling, I've figured out how to authenticate to my company's Active Directory using just 2 lines of code with the Domain, Username, and Password in .NET 2.0 (in C#): // set domain, username, password, and security parameters DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" + domain, username, password, AuthenticationTypes.Secure | AuthenticationTypes.SecureSocketsLayer); // force Bind to AD server to authenticate object obj = entry.NativeObject; If the 2nd line throws an exception, then the credentials and/or parameters were bad. (Specific reason can be found in the exception.) If no exception, then the credentials are good. Trying to do this in .NET 3.5 looks like it should be easy, but has me at a roadblock instead. Specifically, I've been working with this example: PrincipalContext domainContext = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain, domain); using (domainContext) { return domainContext.ValidateCredentials(UserName, Password); } Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me as I don't have both ContextOptions set to Sealed/Secure and SSL (like I did above in the .NET 2.0 code.) There is an alternate constructor for PrincipalContext that allows setting the ContextOptions, but this also requires supplying a Distinguished Name (DN) of a Container Object and I don't know exactly what mine is or how I would find out. public PrincipalContext(ContextType contextType, string name, string container, ContextOptions options); // container: // The container on the store to use as the root of the context. • Android SlidingDrawer in Eclipse IDE

  I am trying to design an application for Android that makes use of the SlidingDrawer, but I have not been able to use the form (layout?) designer to add this element without producing an exception "IllegalArgumentException: The handle attribute is required and must refer to a valid child." As of March 17th, I believe I have everything up to date (Eclipse, and the Android SDK). All the SDK components have been installed. I have created two Android virtual devices, One for version 1.0, and one for version 2.1 when I figured out that 1.0 didn't support the SlidingDrawer. I have tried importing the samples provided in the SDK, as well as several other layouts from the web that I have found, all of which produce this same exception. My programming background is mostly C++, and I consider myself to be a novice programmer, so feel free to talk to me as if I were an idiot so that I will understand. ^^;

  I'm using MVVM and am trying to databind the Source property of Image to my ViewModel in such a way that I can change the icon on the fly. What is the best pattern to follow for this? I still have the flexibility to change my ViewModel to suit, but I don't know where to start in either the xaml or ViewModel. To be clear, I don't want my ViewModel to know about the specific images (that's for the View to know), just the state that triggers different images. For now I have just two states, lets say Red and Green. Should I create an Enum property or a bool? And then how do I databind to switch the image source?

  My web app runs on .Net 3.5, all of the dates are saved on the DB in UTC time (not in user time). When I want to display a date I convert it to user date (from UTC) //Get the current datetime of the user exp: GMT TO ISRAEL +2 public static DateTime GetUserDateTime(DateTime dateUTC) { string userTzId = "Israel Standard Time"; TimeZoneInfo userTZ = TimeZoneInfo.FindSystemTimeZoneById(userTzId); dateUTC = DateTime.SpecifyKind(dateUTC, DateTimeKind.Utc); DateTime ret = TimeZoneInfo.ConvertTime(dateUTC, TimeZoneInfo.Utc, userTZ); return ret; } Until now it worked fine but I have users from Israel (GMT +2), and Israel switched to Daylight saving time on 26/3/10 so now it's (GMT +3). For some reason the TimeZoneInfo.ConvertTime don't know the Daylight saving time switch is on 26/3/10 so it still converts to GMT +2. The strange thing is that on localhost it works fine, I set up a test page: DateTime userdate = GetUserDateTime(DateTime.UtcNow); string str2 = "UserDateTime = " + userdate.ToString("dd/MM/yy") + " " + userdate.ToString("HH:mm"); On the Server (windows 2003 set to UTC time) it shows the wrong time (+2): UserDateTime = 27/03/10 21:38 On localhost (windows XP set to Israel Time) it shows the correct time (+3): UserDateTime = 27/03/10 22:38 How can I update the TimeZoneInfo that the Daylight saving time switch in Israel was on the 26/3/10?   I need to load aspx page into jQuery UI's modal dialog window. I used following approach: load page content via ajax call into dialog's div and show it: $.get('Page.aspx', function(response){ $('#dialog').html(response); $("#dialog").dialog('open'); }); but I've got very strange error (IE8) in line 137215738 (!): 'theForm.elements.length' - is null or not an object. JS debbuger says that source code is not available for such location. I have an assumption that this error happens because of multiple 'form' tags that appears on page after ajax call I wonder, how can i fix this? Or maybe some other way of showing aspx page in modal dialog?

• Android ListView scrolling to top

  Hi, I have a ListView with custom rows. When any of these rows is clicked, the ListView's data is regenerated. I'd like the list to scroll back to the top when this happens. I initially tried using setSelection(0) in each row's OnClickListener to achieve this but was unsuccessful (I believe because the ListView loses its scroll position when its data is invalidated - so my call to setSelection is undone. I still don't understand how the ListView decides where to scroll to after invalidation, though). The only working solution I know of was given by Romain Guy here: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/127ca57414035301 It involves (View.post)ing the call to _listView.setSelection(0). I found this to perform quite poorly. The newly generated list shows up with it's scroll location unchanged and there is a considerable delay before it scrolls back to the top. Is there any better way to achieve this functionality? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  I have a Rails 3 app ready for staging. I haven't got a VPS host set up yet. As I was planning to have everything on shared host for the first few months. Problem: cd myapp bundle check result: The Gemfile's dependencies are satisfied Passenger error: Error message: no such file to load -- bundler Exception class: LoadError Frustrating thing about shared hosts is that I have to add these lines on config.ru: ENV['GEM_HOME'] = '/home/username/.gems' ENV['GEM_PATH'] = '$GEM_HOME:/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8' Still no luck. Same no such file to load bundler error appears. Has anybody got this working? Rails 3, Debian, shared host (dreamhost)? I could just go ahead and register on Slicehost/Fivebean but before I do, I'd like to know why that error is showing up. Thanks.
