  • Widely-used load balancing solutions?

    I asked this question http://serverfault.com/questions/124329/network-load-balancing-efficience-and-limits, and a bit disappointed that NLB was not a widely-used solution. I want to ask about widely-used solutions in the world now. Can you give me a list and a brief introduction for each? Cause of limitation of my thesis resource, I need to focus on software-only, Windows-based solution (both database level and system level are welcome). Thank you so much!

  • merge values from excel file into .html file opened in word 2007

    I have this newsletter I've written. I want to be able to use the values in the rows and some how have them merged into this html file I have opened in word. Sort of like a mail merge. In the newsletter I have 3 urls that look like: www.mydomain.com/php?id= I want to be able to replace all of the urls for all 230 records in the excel file. With something like: www.mydomain.com/?id=$id Where $id would get replaced with the id of the record. And the same goes for the rest of the rows like $firstname $lastname $email $phone number Is there a simple way to do this?

  • Adjusting the column height of a Word 2007 Mail Merge on every page?

    I've been doing mail merges lately and we use labels that aren't listed in the default MS Word settings: I tried measuring them out and here is what I got: Despite measuring them they don't seem to fit, and I always end up having to adjust the heights so that they print correctly. When I do this and I have 24 pages or so of labels I have to adjust each page individually and it all gets a bit annoying. So I was wondering if anyone had the proper measurements (since mine didn't work) or if maybe someone knew how to adjust the height of the columns of every page in exactly the same way to avoid using more labels.

  • Excel Conditional Formatting Multiple Data Bars and Data Icons in one cell

    I am using Excel 2007 on a windows machine. I am attempting to place one data bar and one data icon into a cell under the conditional formatting. The issue is that I don't really want to have data icons or data bars for cells that have dates in the future and I only want to have data icons for dates in the at least one month in the past. This is what I have: This is what I want: I am using the EOMONTH function to determine the last day of the month for the conditional formatting calculations. For the data bar the formula is =EOMONTH(Now(), 4) and =EOMONTH(Now(), -1). The data icons formulas are =EOMONTH(Now(), -1) and =EOMONTH(Now(), -2) Is there a way in Excel 2007 to get rid of the data icons for all the dates in the future and lose the data bars when the date has past.     I would like to use a conditional formatting rule in an excel file that would color any box with a question mark in it red. It seems that Excel is using a question mark as a wild card and will turn all cells with at least one character in them red. How can i escape the question mark? These don't seem to work: "?" \? '?' ??

  • Excel data into PowerPoint slides

    I have already found some helpful sites but I'm still unable to do what I want. My Excel file contains few columns and multiple rows. All the data from one row would be in one slide but data from different cells in that one row should go to a specific elements in PP slide. At first, is it possible to export data from an Excel cell into a specific text box in PP? For example, I would like to have all data from the first column of each row go to a Text box 1. Let's say I have 100 rows so I would have 100 slides and each slide would have Text bow 1 with correct data. Text box of slide 66 would have data from the first column of row 66. Then all data from the second column of each row would go to a text bow 2 and so on. I tried to do some macros with bad success. I also tried to use Word outlines and export them into PP (New slide - Slides from Outline) but there seems to be a bug since I got 250 pages of gibberish. I had only two paragraphs and both had one word. First paragraph used Heading 1 style and second paragraph used Normal style. Sites what I have found, use VB and/or some other programming language to create slides from Excel sheets. I have tried to add those VB codes into my macros but none of them hasn't worked so far.   • BCM 2007 not opening contacts...

    Business Contact Manager for Outlook (2007) is refusing to open contacts. This problem appeared this morning on every machine (Windows XP SP3) on our network. The contact list does populate as normal, and contacts can be printed from the context menu, but the form that displays the contact information does not display, and no error message is thrown. I have turned on logging for BCM in the help menu, but nothing is being generated (or, leastways, I cannot find it anywhere). The SQL services appear to have started as normal. Anyone come across this before I take a deep breath and go with my boss' suggestion of "just reboot the server"? Any other information you need? Thanks.

  • Exchange Disconnecting on EHLO with remote telnet

    When I go to the local terminal on my Exchange box (SBS 2008) I can do this: telnet 127.0.0.1 25 220 Exchange banner here EHLO example.com 250 Server name However when I go from another box, or from the actual IP of the server I get this: telnet 192.168.21.20 25 220 Exchange banner here EHLO example.com 421 4.4.1 Connection timed out Connection to host lost. The odd thing is, this server is currently in production and working fine (receiving mail for our entire domain). But my C# programs can't send mail to it (they get this same error). Any ideas?

    I'm building a home office and looking for the ultimate desk. Lot's of resources about the great desk chairs, but very little on great modern desks. Requirements: $1000-$2000. Straight. No side cabinets. Attractive. Electric adjustable would be nice, but I haven't found very attractive looking one. I ended up just going with the Galant after seeing it and the Herman Miller's in person. What a great desk!

However, you can not split a test so I do not want the next test to begin if there is not enough time within the specified working hours of the day to complete it. Also, I would like to begin each day with a set-up period before the actual testing can begin. Is there a way to automatically begin each day with a setup period and have tasks that can not complete before the end of the specified work day defer starting until the next day?

  • How do I remove initial indents on numbered lists?

    In Word 2007 I want all numbers in a numbered list to be down the LH margin in line with the paragraphs. When a numbered list is selected, the numbers 1,2,3 are indented by a default 0.63cm. Ctrl-Shift-M will shift this indent back to the left margin. How do I permanently remove that initial indent and save that change to the normal template so that all new documents have zero indent on a newly inserted numbered list? (Same issue in Word 2010)

  • Temporarily disable an AD server

    Topology and setup We have main office A, and branch office (abroad) B. Our ISP somehow messed up the MPLS, and office A<B will not be connected until a few days. At location B, we have an AD (and the other two ADs at location A). Location A also have an exchange server. The problems A few users at A have problem to login to their computers running Windows XP, the logon process kind of hangs where "Applying computer policies". Additionally, I can't start the Exchange management shell, it fails on get-recipient because the AD abroad (location B) is unreachable. Solution? I could delete the AD at B, but Im pretty sure it will be a hazzle to re-join it, and since the office is abroad it's not an option to just go there and re-install it - re join, I now wonder how I in location As primary and secondary ADs can temporarily disable AD at location B.

    We're using the default SMTP server for our websites to send mail with, but in the last day sending messages started getting this error: Insufficient system storage. The server response was: 4.3.1 Out of memory Further digging found this message in the System event log: SMTP server cannot create a file in the queue directory C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Queue\ I've since given the Everyone account full control of the mailroot folder but it's still happening. There's enough space on the server and to the best of my knowledge nothing on the server has been changed

    I have a MS SQL imported into SQL Server 2008 from a .bak and I set it to Mixed mode. I have a SQL user (called "test") that can correctly access the database using SQL Server. I need to convert this to a MySQL database, so I got the MySQL Migration Toolkit. I pick "MS SQL Server" and then it asks for the hostname/username/password/database. I'm not 100% sure on these, but I used "localhost" (running on same computer), left the port as is (1433) and the username/password ("test") for the SQL Server. And I used the database name for the SQL Server database I'm looking to import. I clicked next, enter my MySQL database details and then attempt to run it and I get this error: Connecting to source database and retrieve schemata names. Initializing JDBC driver ...   • How can you add two lines of text on a single line in Word 2010?

    Odd title, wasn't sure how to word it. Basically, I have two separate fonts I want to be on the same line, for resume purposes. My name is in a large font at the top, and I want my email and website address right-aligned directly beside it, one on top of the other. However, I want the email and website to combine to the same height as my name. Is this even possible with Word? Surely it is. Here is an awesome graphic of what I'm hoping for.     Hi, I need to know the best way to set up a spreadsheet which has product information (i.e name cost, sale price, number purchased, number sold, number left in stock) Every week I check the stock so need to be able to to enter the new current value of the number left in stock. The every week I buy new stock. Sometimes the stock changes in price.     An Excel XLSX file is a zip archive containing several XML files. I tried to extract all the XML files, and edit xl\connections.xml using an XML editor. That's because I have to change 20+ connections to point to a different server. When I open the edited archive in Excel, it refuses the changes and repairs the file. Is there a way to edit the XML files inside an XML archive?

  • Dropbox failing to update?

    I have two PC's at home. One XP the other Windows 7-64bit. I have a word document that I edit on either PC - to enable this I have the file stored in a Dropbox folder. This usually works fine - but sometimes I find that the file does not get updated on my windows7 PC. I.e. I edit the file on my Windows XP machine, then go to my Windows 7 PC and see that there is a previous, old, datestamp on the file and sure enough if I open up the file to have a look, I see that the latest edits are not included. If I right-click on the file and select "Browse on Dropbox website" I see that the latest file is correctly there. Surely there must be some option to say please update this file - but can find no such thing. Has something gone wrong? I should point out that my wireless internet connection is a little intermittent - could this have caused some glitch? By the way I do not leave the old file open in word on my Windows-7 PC as I can well imagine that would cause trouble. Also I should mention that the icon on the document has the little green tick on it showing that Dropbox is not in the process of doing a transfer. Also the Dropbox icon in my system tray also has the green tick - so Dropbox is not busy transferring some other file(s). If I hover the mouse over the Dropbox icon I get the tooltip "All files up to date".

  • excel chart dynamic range based on values

    I'm trying to create a chart that auto updates itself from a data provided. The range of the chart is always fixed/locked. The issue I'm facing is that when a value for a certain month is 0, I want it to skip to the last non-zero month . Meaning the ranges selected forming the chart should exclude the month with the value zero. Which in most cases is the top month. The image below should clear it up. Is there a way to have the chart range be dynamic based on certain values?

  • Word doesn't want to open hyperlinks, and I can't find the policy setting

    So I have a Surface RT (running Windows RT 8.1), and I have some Word documents with links in them. The thing is, they don't work. When I try to activate one, this happens instead: It's kind of annoying. This is a personal device, so I am the organisation - and after much spelunking and web-searching, I still can't find the relevant policy, which means I can't change it. Is it talking about Group Policy or something else entirely? Is this a[nother] Windows RT limitation, or some obscure switch I haven't found yet, or...?

  • How to add a Receive All only button to Outlook 2010

    I managed, somehow, 2-3 years ago to add a big button on to task bar to Send All mail only. I don't recall how I did it but it replicates a function built into Outlook but is much bigger visually. However, more importantly I want a button to just receive all my email. But, I can't find anywhere how to do that. Most of the time I don't want to send mail at the same time that I am receiving, for a multitude of reasons. And, I don't want to make them drafts coz it is a pain to then send them, you need to open each one up and then click send again. Anybody know how to fix my problem? Much appreciated the Godzonekid
