• Help Fix a bug - Unexpected T_STRING

  So I have just rebuilt my server, just on local network. Stick my site back on it, try to run the code, and I get a anice T_STRING error. This is all very strange, as I have not changed the code :S <?php $window_ID = -1; if(isset($_POST["window_ID"]) AND $_POST["window_ID"] != null){ $window_ID = trim($_POST["window_ID"]); } ?> This is the start of the file, apter this rather loverly snipit of PHP the rest is just XMl, yet on line 6 appertnlty there is an unexpected T_STRING, which is strange considering all that is on that line is the ?>, then the XML starts up... Any one got any ideas what has gone wrong here? Any chance it ould be magic quotes? I had turned it of before, but I want to now update my code to check for the magic quotes and avoid its stupid actions.

This is my current setup. com.example.licensegenerator.client (used by the client application) :LicenseLoader (no Main method) :LicenseDownloader (no Main method) com.example.licensegenerator.server.keys (used by the server) :ProductKeyGenerator(Main method) com.example.licensegenerator.server.license (used on the server also) :LicenseGenerator(Main method) com.example.licensegenerator.lib (Shared classes between client and server) :Contants (no main) Now I have a few questions. Is it OK to have multiple Main() methods in a single project? Will I be able to compile them to different .jar files? (In this case I need two different jars for the server) Is there a better way to setup the packages? And a totally unrelated question, with exceptions, is it better to handle them right then and there or throw them and let the main method catch them all (the program cannot recover if an error occurs)

• Help Installing phpMyAdmin on Linux Server

  I constantly get this error when attempting to view index.php in the phpMyAdmin folder I have setup: Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly. I am using subversion with three co-workers and I am trying to install this on my repository, which is at /svni3/myusername/intranet/ on our linux development server. I do have shell access so I would be able to install it somewhere else if that may be causing the problem. My config.inc.php file looks like this (only the things I changed): $cfg['blowfish_secret'] = 'blah'; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'cookie'; //$cfg['Servers'][$i]['user'] = 'username'; //$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'password'; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['host'] = 'localhost'; Other helpful information??? When I ping localhost it works. When I run the command "ls -l /var/lib/php": drwxrwx--- 2 root apache 4096 2009-04-17 02:31 session If there's anything else that may be helpful let me know; this has been plaguing me for a few hours now.

• Manipulating/changing adressbar link Help

  I am out of my own "ideas" going through this. I have a album viewer. When you click next I want the adressbar to hang with it, e.g if you start on ?photoid=1, and click next (next picture appends and stuff), and then i want it to say ?photoid=2. Now I cant make it say ?photoid=2 without changing/manipulating, and this you cant do without HTML5. I have made a script in HTML5 that works fine, but then I need to take care of those who dont have HTML5(only chrome, ff4 etc supports html5) Made the script from this( https://developer.mozilla.org/en/DOM/Manipulating_the_browser_history ) I thought of adding #photoid=2 so, ?photoid=1#photoid=2 and then check if theres anything in # then use that instead of the $_GET.. But apparently you cannot do that as # is client side handled and never sent to the server. So what should I then do? Any suggestions please to make a workaround this? I checked facebook, what they did to IE users, and I could hear that it "clicked" (the annoying click sound from IE) twice.. the first was to get to the next picture, the second click sound changed the adressbar?!(how?). And then I also thought hey, html5 is only supported in ff4, and I got ff3.6, and they manipulate the adress bar url when you browse through the album photos, exactly like how I wanted (and what I have written for but it only works in Chrome and ff4..?). How could they do that?

  I'm stuck on a query with a join. The client's site is running mysql4, so a subquery isn't an option. My attempts to rewrite using a join aren't going too well. I need to select all of the contractors listed in the contractors table who are not in the contractors2label table with a given label ID & county ID. Yet, they might be listed in contractors2label with other label and county IDs. Table: contractors cID (primary, autonumber) company (varchar) ...etc... Table: contractors2label cID labelID countyID psID This query with a subquery works: SELECT company, contractors.cID FROM contractors WHERE contractors.complete = 1 AND contractors.archived = 0 AND contractors.cID NOT IN ( SELECT contractors2label.cID FROM contractors2label WHERE labelID <> 1 AND countyID <> 1 ) I thought this query with a join would be the equivalent, but it returns no results. A manual scan of the data shows I should get 34 rows, which is what the subquery above returns.   I need to post to a payment gateway. The example PHP script for the gateway simply sets the XML like this curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $xmlRequest); // $xmlRequest is just a string of XML In all of my experience, generally you need to use an array with key/values or a string similar to GET params. I am using Kohana, and tracked down a cURL module. It accepts the POST key/values as an array only. Now, I could ditch the module and throw some cURL straight in, but I am using this module fine all throughout the site, so would prefer to use it here. So, my question is, how does that first one work? Does it just POST the whole thing without any named key? Is there a default key I could use for an array to get the module to work?

What should i do? Should i create a column that gets date/time of the system when insertion/update happens to the table and then compare the created date/time with the time employee's specified - If so in this case i will have to create date/time column for timeIn, outToLunch, returnFromLunch and timeOut. I don't know, what do you suggest? Note: i'm concerned about tracking these 4 columns timeIn, outToLunch, returnFromLunch and timeOut

  I once read an article on how to properly write event handlers for multi-threading in Java, but I can't for the life of me find it anymore. It described the pitfalls and potentials for deadlocks that can occur when firing events (not Swing events mind you, but general events like model update notifications). To clarify, the situation would be as such: // let's say this is code from an MVC model somewhere public void setSomeProperty(String myProperty){ if(!this.myProperty.equals(myProperty)){ this.myProperty = myProperty; fireMyPropertyChangedEvent(...); } } The article described how passing control to arbitrary external listener code was a potential cause for deadlock. I now find myself in a situation where I need to fire such events in a multithreaded environment and I would very much like to read the article again to see what it has to say before I continue. Does anyone know the article I'm referring to? I believe it came as a (fairly short) PDF. It started off with an initial naive implementation and incrementally pointed out flaws and improved upon it. It ended with a sort of final proper-way-to-fire-multithreaded-events. I've searched endlessly in my browse history and on google, but all I could find were endless amounts topics on Swing event dispatch threads. Thank you.

  Please see pic, this is what I want to do. I am really struggling to bloody do it lol. The master div, is 600px wide ( blue bg ) and need splitting into two areas, left for the image and right for the text etc. Ignore the vertical divider line The left hand div, is approx 200px wide, and need to specify a min-height of 100px, as the placeholder image which is centered to that div 50% 50% will change size, as I will be adding another div like this with larger image placeholder. The right part contains the header tag, description, button and second description. I have already constructed this and works fine in chrome and ff, but not in ie. So could you guys have a think, and give me some code that complies in all browsers. It is officially doing my head in now. Screenpic of it working in ff and chrome below:

• long startup time...Need help

  My app is all done and working great. So now I ran it on a old iPhone and the app takes 17.3 seconds to start!?!? i spent a lot of time looking into it and i found that the reason it is taking so long to load is i have a lot of views and each view has a png background image. All my views and made in IB and in my code: #import "MyTestAppDelegate.h" #import "MyTestViewController.h" @implementation MyTestAppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize viewController; - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { // Override point for customization after app launch [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } - (void)dealloc { [viewController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end At the end of the code where is says: [window addSubview:viewController.view]; the app seems to be loading all the views in the nib at the same time. All the png's from all the views are about 12mb. There is no need for the app to load all the views at the same time during startup. Is there a way i can only load the first "home" view at startup? (All the views are part of the same nib.)

I've been trying to put together a Python script that runs multiple find-and-replace actions and a few similar things on a specified plain-text file. It works, but from a programming perspective I doubt it works well. How would I best go about optimizing the actions made upon the 'outtext' variable?   I have a lookup table (##lookup). I know it's bad design because I'm duplicating data, but it speeds up my queries tremendously. I have a query that populates this table insert into ##lookup select distinct col1,col2,... from table1...join...etc... I would like to simulate this behavior: delete from ##lookup insert into ##lookup select distinct col1,col2,... from table1...join...etc... This would clearly update the table correctly. But this is a lot of inserting and deleting. It messes with my indexes and locks up the table for selecting from. This table could also be updated by something like: delete from ##lookup where not in (select distinct col1,col2,... from table1...join...etc...) insert into ##lookup (select distinct col1,col2,... from table1...join...etc...) except if it is already in the table The second way may take longer, but I can say "with no lock" and I will be able to select from the table. Any ideas on how to write the query the second way?

  I wanted to have the tab bar at the top. So i created a new project in XCode. Added a view and then inside that view i added (scrollbar, text and another view). See picture. What i wanted was to have my tab bar at the top. Then in the middle would be the contents from the tab bar and below it a small copyright text. See picture. No idea how to make this correctly. I have tried to create the UITabBarController on the fly and then assign it into the view at the top. (Top white space on the picture dedicated for the tab bar). But when I access iamgabeaudick.com, a blank "Index of /" page appears. Any ideas why this is? Do I need to configure the ftp files in some way?

• Need help optimizing this Django aggregate query

  I have the following model class Plugin(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=50) # more fields which represents a plugin that can be downloaded from my site. To track downloads, I have class Download(models.Model): plugin = models.ForiegnKey(Plugin) timestamp = models.DateTimeField(auto_now=True) So to build a view showing plugins sorted by downloads, I have the following query: # pbd is plugins by download - commented here to prevent scrolling pbd = Plugin.objects.annotate(dl_total=Count('download')).order_by('-dl_total') Which works, but is very slow. With only 1,000 plugins, the avg. response is 3.6 - 3.9 seconds (devserver with local PostgreSQL db), where a similar view with a much simpler query (sorting by plugin release date) takes 160 ms or so. I'm looking for suggestions on how to optimize this query. I'd really prefer that the query return Plugin objects (as opposed to using values) since I'm sharing the same template for the other views (Plugins by rating, Plugins by release date, etc.), so the template is expecting Plugin objects - plus I'm not sure how I would get things like the absolute_url without a reference to the plugin object. Or, is my whole approach doomed to failure? Is there a better way to track downloads? I ultimately want to provide users some nice download statistics for the plugins they've uploaded - like downloads per day/week/month. Will I have to calculate and cache Downloads at some point? EDIT: In my test dataset, there are somewhere between 10-20 Download instances per Plugin - in production I expect this number would be much higher for many of the plugins.
