    Another jquery issue... I have tried this several times using "class" and "id" elements and I can not get it right. I am hoping the brains on stackoverflow can help! The problem that I am having is when I open the page all elments are closed. When I click on one link all links open.     Apache is receiving requests at port :80 and proxying them to Jetty at port :8080 The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server The proxy server could not handle the request GET /. My dilemma: Everything works fine normally (fast requests, few seconds or few tens of seconds long requests are processed ok). Problems occur when request processing takes long (few minutes?). If I issue request instead directly to Jetty at port :8080 the request is processed OK. So problem is likely to sit somewhere between Apache and Jetty where I am using mod_proxy. How to solve this? I have already tried some "tricks" related to KeepAlive settings, without luck.     I run 8-10 EC2 based web servers, so my experience is many hours, but is limited to CentOS; specifically Amazon's distribution. I'm installing Apache using yum, so therefore getting Amazon's default compilation of Apache. I want to implement canonical redirects from non-www (bare/root) domain to www.domain.com for SEO using mod_rewrite BUT MY .htaccess FILE IS CONSISTENTLY IGNORED. My troubleshooting steps (outlined below) lead me to believe it's something specific to Amazon's build of Apache. As expected, it created an Error log entry: [Wed Jun 19 02:24:19 2013] [alert] [client XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX] /var/www/html/.htaccess: Invalid command 'BLAH BLAH BLAH ERROR', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Since I have root access on the server, I then tried moving my rewrite rule directly to the httpd.conf file. THIS WORKED. This tells us several important things are working. $ curl -I domain.com HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently Date: Wed, 19 Jun 2013 12:36:22 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.24 (Amazon) Location: http://www.domain.com/ Connection: close Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 HOWEVER, it is bothering me that it didn't work in the .htaccess file. And I have other use cases where I need it to work in .htaccess (e.g. an EC2 instance with named virtual hosts). Thank you in advance for your help.

I've got a domain that has its main site on a server (www.domain.com) and I've created a subdomain (sugar.domain.com), but I wnat this subdomain to be hosted on another server. This second server has nginx installed, and there's a working WordPress blog there on a virtualhost, so I would need to setup a second site. To do this I've created the directory structure, and I've created a /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/sugar.domain.com configuration file that has the following: * server { listen 80; server_name sugar.domain.com *.domain.com; access_log /var/www/sugar/log/access.log; error_log /var/www/sugar/log/error.log info; location / { root /var/www/sugar; index index.php; } location ~ .php$ { fastcgi_split_path_info ^(.+\.php)(.*)$; fastcgi_pass backend; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /var/www/sugar/$fastcgi_script_name; include fastcgi_params; fastcgi_param QUERY_STRING $query_string; fastcgi_param REQUEST_METHOD $request_method; fastcgi_param CONTENT_TYPE $content_type; fastcgi_param CONTENT_LENGTH $content_length; fastcgi_intercept_errors on; fastcgi_ignore_client_abort on; fastcgi_read_timeout 180; } ## Disable viewing .htaccess & .htpassword location ~ /\.ht { deny all; } } upstream backend { server 127.0.0.1:9000; } As far as I know, I need the *.domain.com parameter on the "server_name" flag, but something is crashing here: I get either a 403 Forbidden error, or I get PHP code (I can read the PHP file code in the browser, like normal text) that somehow is not executed. Do they have to be together necessarily?

Google has plenty of solutions for Nginx but not a word for Apache.

  • How to allow only specific directories to use htaccess?

    Currently in apache2.conf I have AllowOverride all set for /var/www which simply allows htaccess for all the sites on the server (which is Ubuntu, 9.04). However, I'd rather only allow overrides in each site root directory and nothing else. In other words, /var/www/site1, /var/www/site2, etc. can have a htaccess, but all other directories including /var/www and /var/www/site1/content cannot. Is there a way to do this without having to write a rule for every site on the server?

    Here's what I'd like to do: If a user goes to www.example.com/thislocation, I'd like to redirect to a particular script and give it "thislocation" as a parameter. So if a user navigated to www.example.com/thislocation, I'd like to redirect to www.example.com/cgi-bin/test.pl?parameter=thislocation, and similarily, if the user navigated to www.example.com/thatlocation, I'd like to redirect to www.example.com/cgi-bin/test.pl?parameter=thatlocation.     Has anyone had any success in using the Enter USB TV Box from Enter Multimedia? It comes bundled with software that works in Windows. I have had no luck using it in Ubuntu 10.10. All computer stores in India sell Enter USB TV Box if you ask for an USB TV tuner. No other brand seems to be interested in this market. Update 3 I learned that this TV tuner is rebranded version of Gadmei UTV302 (USB TV Tuner Box). Update 4 I tried adding em28xx as the chipset (as suggested by user BOBBO below) for the tuner but that did not work. I went back to my Pinnacle PCTV internal card. I don't think the tuner referred by UbuntuForums (Gadmei UTV 330) and the tuner that I have (Gadmei UTV 302) are the same. My USB tuner is several times bigger. My tuner seems to be a newer device with a newer tuner chip. I will submit details of this device to the LinuxTV developers this weekend. Update 5 I opened the tuner box and found that it uses a tuner from a Chinese company - Tenas. Model is TNF 8022-DFA. Update 6 Tuner chip specs (retrived from supplier directory) for Tenas TNF 8022-DFA. Supply voltage: true 5V device(low power dissipation) Control system: I2C bus control of tuning, address selection Tuning system: PLL controlled tuning Receiving system: system PAL D/K,IF(Intermediate Frequency): 38MHz Receiving channels: full frequency range from channel DS1 (49.75MHz) to channel DS57 (863.25MHz); Use Texas Instruments SN761678 IC solution, with mini install size Update 7 Reverse side of the circuit board. Before that I had a problem with logging in to GNOME. During which I upgraded all the packages at one point (apt-get upgrade) and it stopped booting at all (it didn't get to login screen).     Use case background I have been asked on a number of occasions if our selectOneChoice component could allow random text to be entered, as well as having a list of selections available. Unfortunately, the selectOneChoice component only allows entry via the dropdown selection list and doesn't allow text entry. I was thinking of possible solutions and thought that this might make a good example for using a declarative component.My initial idea My first thought was to use an af:inputText to allow the text entry, and an af:selectOneChoice with mode="compact" for the selections. To get it to layout horizontally, we would want to use an af:panelGroupLayout with layout="horizontal". To get the label for this to line up correctly, we'll need to wrap the af:panelGroupLayout with an af:panelLabelAndMessage. This is the basic structure: <af:panelLabelAndMessage> <af:panelGroupLayout layout="horizontal"> <af:inputText/> <af:selectOneChoice mode="compact"/> </af:panelgroupLayout></af:panelLabelAndMessage> Make it into a declarative component One of the steps to making a declarative component is deciding what attributes we want to be able to specify. To use this declarative component in a jspx page: <af:declarativeComponent id="myItwc" viewId="inputTextWithChoice.jsff" label="InputText with Choice" value="#{demoInput.choiceValue}" items="#{demoInput.selectItems}" /> Some problems arise At first glace, this seems to be functioning like we want it to. However, there is a side effect to having the af:inputText and af:selectOneChoice share a value, if one changes, so does the other. The problem here is that when we update the af:inputText to something that doesn't match one of the selections in the af:selectOneChoice, the af:selectOneChoice will set itself to null (since the value doesn't match one of the selections) and the next time the page is submitted, it will submit the null value and the af:inputText will be empty. Oops, we don't want that. Hmm, what to do. Okay, how about if we make sure that the current value is always available in the selection list. But, lets not render it if the value is empty. We also need to add a partialTriggers attribute so that this gets updated when the af:inputText is changed. Plus, we really don't want to select this item so let's disable it. <af:selectOneChoice id="mySoc" partialTriggers="myIt" label="mySoc" simple="true" mode="compact" value="#{attrs.value}" autoSubmit="true"> <af:selectItem id="mySI" label="Selected:#{attrs.value}" value="#{attrs.value}" disabled="true" rendered="#{!empty attrs.value}"/> <af:separator id="mySp" /> <f:selectItems id="mySIs" value="#{attrs.items}" /></af:selectOneChoice> That seems to be working pretty good. One minor issue that we probably can't do anything about is that when you enter something in the inputText and then click on the selectOneChoice, the popup is displayed, but then goes away because it has been replaced via PPR because we told it to with the partialTriggers="myIt". This is not that big a deal, since if you are entering something manually, you probably don't want to select something from the list right afterwards. Making it look like a single component. Now, let's play around a bit with the contentStyle of the af:inputText and the af:selectOneChoice so that the compact icon will layout inside the af:inputText, making it look more like an af:selectManyChoice. We need to add some padding-right to the af;inputText so there is space for the icon. These adjustments were for the Fusion FX skin. <af:inputText id="myIt" partialTriggers="mySoc" autoSubmit="true" contentStyle="padding-right: 15px;" value="#{attrs.value}" label="myIt" simple="true" /><af:selectOneChoice id="mySoc" partialTriggers="myIt" contentStyle="position: relative; top: -2px; left: -19px;" label="mySoc" simple="true" mode="compact" value="#{attrs.value}" autoSubmit="true"> <af:selectItem id="mySI" label="Selected:#{attrs.value}" value="#{attrs.value}" disabled="true" rendered="#{!empty attrs.value}"/> <af:separator id="mySp" /> <f:selectItems id="mySIs" value="#{attrs.items}" /></af:selectOneChoice> There you have it, a declarative component that allows for suggested selections, but also allows arbitrary text to be entered.
