• How does the workflow between testers doing testing and coders doing the coding for pending testing

  In a large company that does software development, they often have dedicated teams for build management, testing, development, and so forth. Agile or not, how does this workflow amongst teams work? I mean would the test team write unit tests and then the dev team write code to adhere to these tests (basically TDD)? And then the test team may write tests for a completely different project or have a slight quiet period until the dev team have done their coding. What possible workflows are there? This is something that interests me greatly. I know that in my current company we are doing it incorrectly (we have 1 tester about 5 devs, which is small scale) but I am not sure how exactly to draw out the ideal workflow. Many (ok, an ex-Project Manager) have tried, but all failed.

• Looking for actively maintained matrix math library for php

  Does anyone know where I might find a PHP matrix math library which is still actively maintained? I need to be able to do the basic matrix operations like reduce, transpose (including non-square matrices), invert, determinant, etc. This question was asked in the past, then closed with no answers. Now I need an answer to the same question.   I am planning on doing a fresh install of 12.04 LTS next weekend (I am currently on Beta) and want to know what is the correct way to install ATI Catalyst Video Drivers in 12.04 LTS? I have been reviewing all the Q&A on AU and the reason for asking this specific question is that I maybe be missing some dependencies from my planned coding. In a previous AU question relating to 11.10 (here) NOT 12.04 the accepted response stated that this was a dependency. sudo apt-get install ia32-libs I was also receiving conflicting advice on other websites which put doubts on what the correct approach was.

If you feel this question is off-topic, please leave a comment explaining why or open a question on Meta.AU. How will Qt 5.0 be packaged for Ubuntu when it is released? Currently, the name of the package for installing the Qt 4.8 core libraries is: libqt4-core Will the equivalent package for the next version of Qt (5.0) be named libqt5-core? If not, what will the package be named? Will the existing Qt 4.8 libraries coexist with the Qt 5.0 equivalents for the foreseeable future or will they be removed? The Qt 5.0 beta 2 PPA contains a lot of packages - few of which seem to correspond with existing package names. If someone can provide me with a link to a policy outlining the Qt 5.0 migration plan, that would be awesome.

• Design virtual resolution for 2D development in Unity

  I came to Unity with Cocos2D experience in mind. In Cocos2D, I can choose a "virtual" screen resolution size to rely on the entire game during development and the game will automatically adapt to different screen sizes in various devices. Now that I'm migrating to Unity and has access to 4.3 beta which has a native 2D workflow, is there a similar mechanism that will automate this? After playing around a bit with Unity, I also found out that Unity uses a neutral coordinate unit that can translate to pixels flexibly (CMIIW). But when developing a 2D game, I need them in pixels. • 12.10 Booting Into Variations Of Blank Screen

  I've been running the Ubuntu 12.10 beta since about a month before the final release with almost no problems. However since the day of release (I'm assuming an update has caused this) I have had problems booting into the actual GUI interface. Trying to get it to work is just a case of hard shutting down until it works, but for most of the time I need to battle with various different kinds of black screens. These include a plain black screen, a flashing line and a flashing line that doesn't fit the resolution. Nine times out of ten the cursor will be displayed over these. It also sometimes manages to boot into Ubuntu, albeit text mode or sometimes it loads GRUB which it isn't setup to do. If anyone could help out with this it'd be great. I really, really don't want to have to go through yet another clean installation. Cheers.

  Basicaly I have my aspx page doing <% Response.Clear(); Response.Write("{\"Success\": \"true\" }"); Response.End(); %> My JQuery code is function DoSubmit(r) { if (r == null || r.length == 0 || formdata == null || formdata.length == 0) return; for (i = 0; i < formdata.length; i++) { var fd = formdata[i]; r[fd.Name] = fd.Value; } r["ModSeq"] = tblDef.ModSeq; jQuery.ajax({ url: "NashcoUpdate.aspx" , succsess: doRow , error: DoSubmitError , complete: DoSubmitComplete , dataType: "json" , cache: false , data: r , type: "post" }) } When I call the DoSubmit() function every thing works but the doRow or DoSubmitError functions never get called only the DoSubmitComplete function. When I look at the response text in teh DoSubmitComple function it is {"Success": "true" } Every JSON tester I have tried says that this is valied JSON. What am I doing wrong here?

• Chrome and Catalyst - no tab text

  I just installed Ubuntu, updated, installed AMD proprietary drivers (for my Radeon HD6870) and noticed that some (most) of the tabs in Google Chrome don't have text, only the favicon. My first idea was that maybe 13.10 may have some issues with the new drivers so I switched to the normal driver instead of the beta one. It was not good. Okay then, I put back the open source drivers. It worked. Okay, it's strange. Let's install Ubuntu Gnome to see if it's Unity. No it was not. Let's install Ubuntu 13.04. Same behavoir. By this time I was desperate. I installed Fedora, the problem was there. Now I'm back to Ubuntu 13.10, but am out of ideas. Could anyone help me, please? P.s.: I can upload a screenshot, if needed.

• How can I detect a debugger or other tool that might be analysing my software?

  A very simple situation. I'm working on an application in Delphi 2007 which is often compiled as 'Release' but still runs under a debugger. And occasionally it will run under SilkTest too, for regression testing. While this is quite fun I want to do something special... I want to detect if my application is running within a debugger/regression-tester and if that's the case, I want the application to know which tool is used! (Thus, when the application crashes, I could report this information in it's error report.) Any suggestions, solutions?

• Would installing debugging symbols help for reporting bugs?

  I'm running a beta version of Ubuntu (12.10) and I've been reporting crashes through apport's automated system. I've glanced at the stacktraces for a couple of the issues and noticed a lot of what look like hex addresses and these: "No symbol table info available." I was wondering if installing the debugging symbols packages from synaptic would provide better information to package maintainers when I report bugs. In other words, would the stacktrace be more useful if I installed those packages? If so, would installing those packages make any (noticeable) performances differences (will my computer run slower)? • Problem with a SQL statement

  I'm trying to enter values into a database table using a form and a PHP function. The PHP seems to be fine as the SQL statement it creates looks okay, but the database always throws up an error. This is the SQL statement that my code has generated (with arbitrary values): INSERT INTO Iteminfo ('itemName', 'itemSeller', 'itemCategory', 'itemDescription', 'itemPrice', 'itemPostage', 'itemBegin', 'itemEnd', 'buynow', 'itemPicture') values ('gorillaz album', 'ben', 'music', 'new one ', '5.00', '1.00', '2010-03-15 14:59:51', '2010-03-16 14:59:51', '0', 'http://www.thefader.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/gorillaz-plastic-beach.jpg') This throws up an error both when I use the PHP function to evaluate the query and also when I use phpMyAdmin to enter the query manually. However, I can't see anything wrong with it. Can anyone shed some light on this? All of the fields are VARCHAR values, except for itemPrice and itemPostage (which are stored as DECIMAL(4,2)) and the itemBegin and itemEnd, which are stored as DATETIMEs.

It follows the method in shirley, where you compute the area of the triangles formed by embedding the point P inside the triangle. • How can I accept a hash mark in a URL via $_GET?

  From what I have been able to understand, hash marks (#) aren't sent to the server, so it doesn't seem likely that I will be able to use raw PHP to parse data like in the URL below: index.php?name=Ben&address=101 S 10th St Suite #301 I'm looking to pre-populate form fields with this $_GET data. How would I do this with Javascript (or jQuery), and is there a fallback that wouldn't break my form for people not using Javascript? Currently if there is a hash (usually in the address field), everything after that is not parsed in or stored in $_GET.

'/' . $f) && (($x) ? ereg($x.'$',$f) : 1)) { $l[] = $f; } } return $l; } This code works as expected even if it doesn't look too pretty (source: http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.scandir.php) but as ereg is deprecated, I would really like to make it preg_match, or something like that. I have been messing with this all afternoon and the PC is about to go out the window. I would have thought that preg_match("/"$x.'$',$f"/") would have worked but no dice. Any help would be great.
