  I need some help moving a users mailbox to a public folder. I'm not really a sysadmin, I know some AD and Windows Server, but Exchange is new stuff to me. Basically, one user has left the company, so we disabled his account in the AD, but now it's time for the mail. I need to move his old mail to a mailbox which the owern of the company and I can acess, then I would like to forward any new emails to that public folde How can I do this with Exchange 2007?

  I use Gmail with Thunderbird, which is working great, except for the part where I get a new email. It shows me the new email twice when notifying because it appears in both the inbox and All Mail folders. I know I can just unsubscribe to the All Mail folder, but then I can't back it up like many people do with Thunderbird. How do I set Thunderbird to notify me of new emails in only certain folders?

  Hello I want to to implement password recovery in my web application. I'd like to avoid using secret questions. I could just send the password by e-mail but I think it would be risky. Maybe I could generate a new temporary random password and send it by e-mail but I think it is as risky as the above point. Can I send a url by e-mail for example http://mysite.com/token=xxxx where xxxx is a random token associated with the user. So when the user navigates to that url he/she can reset the password. Any ideas?

• Tiny, very-basic outgoing MTA?

  I am looking for a very tiny Mail-Transfer-Agent (MTA) for my smaller VPS which only need to send emails for new accounts or notifications. Originally, I used PHP sockets and wrote a 4kb STMP class to connect to google SMTP and send the emails - but I would like to be free of the 500 emails a day (or whatever) limit they have. On larger VPS I can run Postfix - but it takes about 50MB which makes it too big for a 128/256MB VPS. So are there any very tiny MTA's out there - or is there a rundown of the protocol of sending email (I guess it works by forwarding the mail through other servers till it reaches the correct end mail server right?) so I could build a smaller bash or PHP script for this outgoing stuff?

I use CI's email class from the controller to do mail out, but I discovered that if I use the "mail" protocol, some (not all) users see un-rendered html emails with the html mark up viewable, while others do not. But if I use the "sendmail" protocol, all users get rendered html emails. So if I did this $config['protocol'] = 'mail'; // add a few more config entries $this->email->initialize($config); Not everyone sees html emails If I did this $config['protocol'] = 'sendmail'; // add a few more config entries $this->email->initialize($config); Everyone sees html emails Why does the protocol matter?   Hi everyone, I'm trying to e-mail a html table, that has links within it. But when I receive the e-mail, it just shows me the html code itself. I'm using PHP pear to send the email.   I have a simple ASP.NET MVC application with a contact page. In my development machine (local) I can send successfully emails (I specify host and credentials), but on the production server this doesn't work and I get this error: System.Net.Mail.SmtpFailedRecipientException: Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable or not local at System.Net.Mail.SmtpTransport.SendMail... The server is in my LAN (the mail server too). I tried with multiple accounts but I have errors every time. Credentials for the account are provided at runtime with smtp.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("username", "password"); Any idea? Instead, I want a seperate function that will retrieve ALL emails from the inbox. This function will be used rarely. I wont be retrieving all mails all the time. Only when necessary. Thanks!

In either case, it's not too big a deal, as I will know that if the returned value does have the server, to remove it and if doesn't, I know what server it belongs to, but I think this visual aid will be a better user experience and lower the amount of validation worries I tend to get.

• Tool for parsing smtp logs that finds bounces

  Our web application sends e-mails. We have lots of users, and we get lots of bounces. For example, user changes company and his company e-mail is no longer valid. To find bounces, I parse smtp log file with log parser. Some bounces are great, like 550+#[email protected]. There is [email protected] in bounce. But some do not have e-mail in error message, like 550+No+such+recipient. I have created simple ruby script that parses logs (uses log parser) to find which mail caused something like 550+No+such+recipient. I am just surprised that I could not find a tool that does it. I have found tools like zabbix and splunk for log analysis, but they look like overkill for such simple task. Anybody knows a tool that would parse smtp logs, find bounces and e-mails that cause them? Edit: smtp server is microsoft smtp server.

  I am able to send and receive emails from my JSPs and associated Java code using the Java Mail API (javax.mail.*). Now I would like to create a new POP3 email account programmatically when a user registers for my site. I've found surprisingly little information about this with web searches. I would think it would be a somewhat common problem. It appears that the Java Mail API does not provide any assistance in this area. I have many email accounts available under my godaddy account, and to manually create an account, I just go to the godaddy email control panel, click Add, and specify the email address and password. This is exactly what I would like to do via a Java program. Any ideas?

  Hi all.. I wrote this program, that is supposed to read about 5000 email address and send an pre-defined html mail. I am using the background worker component. The problem is this: I have wired up the method who is supposed to send the mail. But I am calling another method that is supposed to append the body html to the salutation, like public string GiveMeFullHtml(string personname) ... "Dear Mr. John Doe" + HTML ... It seems that when it hits this method call, operation completes. IUt only sends the first mail and completes. I think because the HTML string method is on another thread or sth like that. Can you give me a little insight. Do I have to get everything done in the very same method when using multi-threading? Thanks in advance

  Hi, I just installed Help Center Live which works fine, but I would like to make just one minor adjustment and after looking almost everywhere I couldn't find the file where the text was listen in. At the end of each chat the user can request a copy of the transcript. I tested it and it got into the spam folder of my email client. Why, I don't know, but the point here is I would lik to add some text. After a user finishes a chat session, he or she gets a page hcl/live/chat/end.php with the following text displayed somewhere: "To e-mail yourself a copy of the transcript, please enter your e-mail address below." After entering the address and pressing submit there is a confirmation message: "A copy of the transcript has been sent to your e-mail address." And I would like to add: "Please check your spam folder if you haven't received your transcript" How can this be done? Thanks.
