• Is it possible to alter a marked field´s field function with Word 2007 VBA?

  Hi, i want do the following: In Word 2007 place the Cursor on a field (or mark that field) and call a macro wich edit the field function of that field. (add some string). I´m even grateful for some tipps what term to google. I used the macro recorder and got following: WordBasic.FormatField Field:="CITATION Gro05 \p 9 \l 1031" Thats obvious creats a new field but where to go from here? To get the selected field i thought about something like this: If Selection.Type = WdFieldType Then ... I hope someone give me some hints :) Bye Richard

• Want to bind an input field to a jquery-ui slider handle

  hello, I want to bind an input field to the jquery-ui slider handle. So whenever one value changes I want the other value to also change. Ex: if someone types 1000 into the minimum value input field I want the lower slider handle to move to the 1000 mark. Also if the user drags the lower slider handle to 1000 the input field should reflect that. • How to best integrate HTML/design with C# code in ASP.Net or ASP.Net MVC?

  We're working on a new ASP.Net site. The last major site we did was in classic ASP--the procedure we used there was to have the HTML completed first, then "bring it to life" with the ASP code. In the ASP.Net world, how does this work? I.e. how do the designers do their work if much of the mark-up is actually being generated by the server controls? We are also looking at ASP.Net MVC as a potential lightweight alternative. Would be very interested to know what was worked best for people in both scenarios in terms of working with the designers and integrating their work with the code.

  I have a string in Python 2.7.2 say u"\u0638". When I write it to file: f = open("J:\\111.txt", "w+") f.write(u"\u0638".encode('utf-16')) f.close() In hex it looks like: FF FE 38 06 When i print such a string to stdout i will see: '\xff\xfe8\x06'. The querstion: Where is \x38 in the string output to stdout? In other words why the string output to stdout is not '\xff\xfe\x38\x06'? If I write the string to file twice: f = open("J:\\111.txt", "w+") f.write(u"\u0638".encode('utf-16')) f.write(u"\u0638".encode('utf-16')) f.close() The hex representation in file contains byte order mark (BOM) \xff\xfe twice: FF FE 38 06 FF FE 38 06 I wonder what is the techique to avoid writting BOM in UTF-16 encoded strings?

  I'm currently reading chapter 5.8 of Dive Into Python and Mark Pilgrim says: There are no constants in Python. Everything can be changed if you try hard enough. This fits with one of the core principles of Python: bad behavior should be discouraged but not banned. If you really want to change the value of None, you can do it, but don't come running to me when your code is impossible to debug. I tried this in the interpreter None = "bad" I get a SyntaxError: assignment to None Just out of curiosity how do you change None?

  Hello Friends, I have asp.net website name http://www.go4sharepoint.com I have tried almost all ways to improve performance of this site, I have even check firebug and page speed addon on Firefox, but somehow i am not pleased with the result. I also tried like removing whitespace, remove viewstate, optimizing code which renders it, applied GZip, I have also no heavy session variables used, but still when i compare with other popular websites it is not upto the mark. I have check CodeProject website and was surprise that even though they have lot of stuff displayed there website is loading fast and they also have good loading rate. System.Int32 -> Expression.Constant(this) :> Expression | :? System.Boolean -> Expression.Constant(this) :> Expression | :? Tml.Runtime.Seq as s -> s.ToExpression() | _ -> failwith "bad expression" If I omit the type coercions on the return values F# will infer the return type of the function to ConstantExpression. My first thought was to explicitly mark the return type as being : #Expression, but that didn't work. Is there a more elegant way of doing this that doesn't involve manually casting return types to the most generic type? Thanks.

  is it possible to rebase a branch with all it's subbranches in git? i often use branches as quick/mutable tags to mark certain commits. * master * * featureA-finished * * origin/master now i want to rebase -i master onto origin/master, to change/reword the commit featureA-finished^ after git rebase -i --onto origin/master origin/master master, i basically want the history to be: * master * * featureA-finished * (changed/reworded) * origin/master but what i get is: * master * * (same changeset as featureA-finished) * (changed/reworded) | * featureA-finished |.* (original commit i wanted to edit) * origin/master is there a way around it, or am i stuck with recreating the branches on the new rebased commits?

  I know REST is meant to be resource-oriented, which roughly translates to CRUD operations on these resources using standard HTTP methods. But what I just wanted to update a part of a resource? For example, let's say I have Payment resource and I wanted to mark its status as "paid". I don't want to POST the whole Payment object through HTTP (sometimes I don't even have all the data). What would be the RESTful way of doing this? I've seen that Twitter uses the following approach for updating Twitter statuses: http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/update.xml?status=playing with cURL and the Twitter API Is this approach in "the spirit" of REST? • Looking for an elegant way to store one-to-many relationship in coredata when order is important

  I've been trying to come up with a way to solve my problem, but every solution I can think of is messy and makes me want to retch. I have a one-to-many relationship, consisting of a Team object that can have many Member objects. When I built my data model using Xcode, I was given the default NSSet in which to store the member objects, Unfortunately Sets are not ordered and I need to preserve the order of the Member objects and I need to know if there are empty spaces between Members. I thought of Using an NSArray in place of the NSSet and creating a dummy Member object in my data store that I could use to mark vacant a spot between to Member objects, but that solution really feels like too much of a hack to me. Since I'll always have to filter out this dummy Member from any queries. An NSDictionary would be perfect as I could store the Member object references and their positions as Object-Key pairs, (taking care of both order and vacancies) but apparently CoreData does not support NSDictionary. Has anyone had a similar need, and devised a simple solution?

• Mac dashboard widgets not loading external images

  I set out to make a quick Mac OS X dashboard widget. I read the documentation and was pleased to find out they use simple HTML, JS, and CSS. I created my widget and it works when I open the .html file in Firefox, but it does not work when I install the widget to the dashboard. The widget is simple: it displays the most recent image from a weather web cam stream. The image URLs look like this: http://webcam.com/stream.jpg?1274213999617. The timestamp is appended to the URL and the server automatically responds with the latest image for that time. I did not write the server script. The widget appears to be loading correctly, but the web cam image will not load. Notice the blue question mark in the upper left. The image should appear over the square background image. Is there any special procedure for loading external images into a widget?

• Cake PHP Routing issue

  Hi, I need to do some special routing in cake, but can't for the life of me figure it out. I have a shop controller at /shop, the format of the url will be: /shop/:category/:sub_category/:product_slug In the routing I need to send each part of the url to a different action, for example if the url was just /shop/cakes it would go to the category action of shop. However if the url was /shop/cakes/macaroons or /shop/cakes/fairy it would go to the sub category action on the shop controller. And the the same again for /shop/cakes/macaroons/pistachio would go to the product action on the shop controller. How would I go about this in the routing? Something starting with Router::connect('/shop/:category/:sub_category/:product_slug' ... Or am I way off the mark? Thanks.

  I'm currently looking at purchasing a few C# 4.0 books, namely: Essential C# 4.0 by Mark Michaelis or C# 4.0 Unleashed by Bart De Smet. I am aware that both books are yet to be released, but would you consider purchasing either of these books, or would you recommend another? Thanks for your time. Clarification: I'm not a .net Ninja, but I do have 8+ years experience with the framework & related languages. So I'm generally looking for in-depth books. I also train/instruct the rest of my organisation generally 6 - 12 months after each .net release. Each of the developers I train has the same or more .net experience then myself. I have an expression to query the xml: Expression<Func<XElement, bool>> simpleXmlFunction = b => int.Parse(b.Element("FooId").Value) == 12; used in: var simpleXml = xml.Elements("Foo").Where(simpleXmlFunction).First(); The design time error is: The type arguments for method 'System.Linq.Enumerable.Where(System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable, System.Func)' cannot be inferred from the usage. Try specifying the type arguments explicitly' The delegate supplied to Where should take in an XElement and return a bool, marking if the item matches the query, I am not sure how to add anything more to the delegate or the where clause to mark the type. Also, the parallel method for the real function against the Entity Framework does not have this issue. What is not correct with the LINQ-to-XML version?

• Silverlight 4 NewBie Question

  I am watching a video from Silverlight.net website about DataForm. There is no source code download, so I am typing in the code as I watch the video. Unfortunately I can't replicate what is shown in the video. there are several issues. I am going to list out only the first 2 1) The presenter shows a simple class inside DataForm that has a icon at the very top of the data form that upon clicking it makes the DataForm editable and a save button appears at the bottom. I did'nt get the same thing when I ran my code against Silverlight 4 or Silverlight 3 2) Than he goes on to show that if you mark your class [Bindable(false)] you shouldn't see anything in your page. I did that but my form still shows all the properties I stopped after these 2 issues. If the features being talked about in this video were deprecated in the final release than this video should have been taken off the site. can anyone help me with this??

• How should I measure Concurrent Licence Usage

  Hi I have detailed stats on user access to my system detailing login and logout times as well as machine used, network username etc. I am in need of measuring what I would term a concurrent user licences level based on this information. Now I could take the maximum logged in for any 1 day in a 3 month period say 170 or I could take the average say 133. Does anyone have or know of a formula for working this out or is it as simple as the high water mark which is 170 in my example. A client has recently gone from an unlimited licence to a concurrent licence so I am faced with the task of setting the initial licence level. There is potential for more licence sales in the future so I don't want it set to high and I do want it based on historical data that the system collects rather than guess work.

  The Java Memory Model (since 1.5) treats final fields differently to non-final fields. In particular, provided the this reference doesn't escape during construction, writes to final fields in the constructor are guaranteed to be visible on other threads even if the object is made available to the other thread via a data race. (Writes to non-final fields aren't guaranteed to be visible, so if you improperly publish them, another thread could see them in a partially constructed state.) Is there any documentation on how/if the Scala compiler creates final (rather than non-final) backing fields for classes? I've looked through the language specification and searched the web but can't find any definitive answers. (In comparison the @scala.volatile annotation is documented to mark a field as volatile)

• Can backslash be encoded correctly in URL with URL rewrite?

  I am working on a ASP.NET MVC2 project. The problem is when a string which would be rewritten into URL that contains special character such as backslash or question mark. That will make URL wrong, even I have encoded it before. For example: 1. I have a product id "p001/2-2". 2. I encoded it into "p001%252f2-2" 3. The URL http://domain.com/ProductView/p001%252f2-2 will response HTTP Error 400 - Bad Request. How can I get it correct?

• Find out 20th, 30th, nth prime number. (I'm getting 20th but not 30th?) [Python]

  The question is to find the 1000th prime number. I wrote the following python code for this. The problem is, I get the right answer for the 10th , 20th prime but after that each increment of 10 leaves me one off the mark. I can't catch the bug here :( count=1 #to keep count of prime numbers primes=() #tuple to hold primes candidate=3 #variable to test for primes while count<20: for x in range(2,candidate): if candidate%x==0: candidate=candidate+2 else : pass primes=primes+(candidate,) candidate=candidate+2 count=count+1 print primes print "20th prime is ", primes[-1] In case you're wondering, count is initialised as 1 because I am not testing for 2 as a prime number(I'm starting from 3) and candidate is being incremented by 2 because only odd numbers can be prime numbers. I know there are other ways of solving this problem, such as the prime number theorem but I wanna know what's wrong with this approach. Also if there are any optimisations you have in mind, please suggest. Thank You

• How to version MVC JavaScript includes

  I'm working with someone else's code, so I don't know the whole picture, and I don't even know MVC that well, but here's the problem... In Site.Master there's a <%= Html.IncludeJs("ProductPartial")%> which produces this line in the final mark-up <script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/release/ProductPartial.js"></script> I made some changes in the JS file, but the old one is obviously cached by the browser, so the changes won't show up until the user refreshes. The usual workaround is to add a version tag at the end of the script source path, but I'm not sure how to do that in this case. Any suggestions?
