• Upload images API on 3rd Party host .. Flickr ?

  I am building an Image Sharing feature for my website, where users can upload images and show it off on my website, through their own profile gallery. Except I dont want to physically host the uploaded images. Are there API's that can allow me to descretly save the uploaded images (from the users) to another Host, such as Flickr, Google etc.. I know Flickr has a good API, but could I use it for this? And does the Flickr Upload API only work with authorised users ? becuase I dont want them to upload to their Flickr account, but just host them with 1 big account so to speak thanks.

  In a day or two I'll be ready to submit my iPhone app to the AppStore and I'm curious whether people who have gone through this process have any tips / suggestions for a smooth submission process. Here's things I've covered; No memory leaks Tested performance on an actual device Doesn't crash :) Using correct certificates / profile What I'm a little unsure about are how to configure the "Bundle Display Name" /"Bundle Identifier" and "Bundle Name" in info.plist. I understand the first is the text that's shown on the iPhone itself, but what about the last? Does this have to match Bundle Identifier? Are there any other things I should add to the info.plist? I've noticed that when built for Adhoc distribution my app does not have any author/title information in iTunes.

• require_owner code to limit controller actions not recognizing current user as owner

  I am trying to restrict access to certain actions using a before_filter which seems easy enough. Somehow the ApplicationController is not recognizing that the current_user is the owner of the user edit action. When I take the filter off the controller correctly routes the current_user to their edit view information. Here is the code. • How to access project files from NUnit tests

  I have some Tests that I run with ReSharpers "Run All Tests from Solution" feature. One of the classes being tested has a dependency on a file in the same folder as the assembly containing it. This file is copied to the output directory via MSBuild (set "Copy To Output Directory" to "Copy always"). Problem: The tests are not being run from the normal assembly output directory, but instead some temporary location in my user profile. Therefore, I don't really know where to look for the file - the test runner does not copy it there. Can I force it to?

• asp classic and javascript to check for session status

  Hey all, i am in need of some help with trying to figure out how to go about checking the users session and seeing if they are still logged in or not. The problem being is because i have a static page that pretty much loads everything into "tabs" using jquery. So when they use navigates the page, it really never leaves that same page they started out on. Hints my problem in trying to determine if they are still logged in or not when they click on update their information on their profile or whatnot. Any suggestions/help would be great! :o) David

• Git is ignoring .git directories in subdirectories

  I'm using git as a backup tool and 'roaming profile' for my $HOME directory between laptop and desktop. My problem is that under my $HOME I have a Development directory with multiple git projects I'm working on. Git will not allow me to add the subdirectories .git folders. So to commit to these projects I have to push the changes into my $HOME git repo, pull on laptop (where they were created and .git dir exsits) and commit. I've read about submodules, but it's not really what I want. I just want the children .git folders to be treated like any old directory so I can move them around and back them up. Has anyone done this or have an idea how I would?

• Not able to get response back on java code while http get with S60

  Hi, I am using Net Beans for developing an application on S60. I made one page for user authentication and using .net wcf service to authenticate user. i am able to send data on .net service by HttpGet method but not able to get response back on java page. I have tested it on fiddler with this url its working fine and returning response code 200, but not getting response code by java code. Following code i am using.   Hello everybody, Membership/Role/Profile providers API appeared in early days of asp.net Nearly everytime I can't live with standard API & have to add some extra functionality (for sorting, retrieving e.t.c.). I also have to use different database structure often (with foreign key to some tables for example) or think about performance improvements. These considerations forced teams I took part in to build own providers but I can't stand to implement providers API (because we don't use 70% of standard functionality at least). Moreover, providers that were built for exact projects were rarely reused. I wonder if someone found swiss-knife early-days-API providers implementation that is usefull for any kind of project without refactoring... Or do you use your own implementations of early-days-API's Or may be you abandon standard architecture and use lightweight implementations ? Thank you in advance

• ASMX Web Service - "This web service is using http://tempuri.org/ as its default namespace." message

  I've created a web service using Visual Studio ( 2005 - I know I'm old school ) and it all compiles fine but when it opens I get warned thus: This web service does not conform to WS-I Basic Profile v1.1. And furthermore: This web service is using http://tempuri.org/ as its default namespace. Which would be fine except my service begins thus: [WebService(Namespace = "http://totally-not-default-uri.com/servicename")] Searching the entire solution folder for "tempuri" returns nothing. I can't find it mentioned in any configuration page acessible from Visual Studio. And yet it's right there in the wsdl:definitions list for the xmlns:tns attribute on the web service descriptor page when I view it through the browser and as targetNamespace in the same tag. I'm viewing it using Visual Studio's "debug" mode with the built in server from that. Seems like something has got cached somewhere but I can't work out what and where- I've tried stopping and restarting the server, cleaning and rebuilding the service and going through the associated text config files with a text editor but no dice. Any idea what is going on?

• Why could Shark be so slow?

  I'm trying to profile Ruby interpreter. I run shark -i ./ruby bm_sudoku.rb or something like that, the script finishes in less than a second, and then Shark goes to "CHUDData - Analyzing samples... 99.3%.." point and stays there frozen for 10 minutes or so. It finishes eventually, it's just so ridiculously slow it's pretty much unusable. Version I have here is OSX 10.5, shark 4.6.1 (227). Any ideas what that might be?

• Django User "per project" group assignation

  Hi, Here's my problem : my site has users, which can create projects, and access other user's projects. Each project can assign different rights to users. So, i could have Project A : user "John" is in group "manager" , and Project "B" user "John" is in group "worker". How could I use the Django User authentication model to do that ? From a SQL point a view, what i would like is to be able to add "project_id" in the primary key for the "auth_user_groups" table. I don't think profile is of any help here. Any advice ? UPDATE : "worker" and "manager" are just two examples of the permission group (or "roles") that my application defines. There will be more in the future. Eg : i will probably also have "admin", "reporting", etc...

  Hello! I want to allow the users of a web app that I'm building to write their own CSS in order to customize their profile page. However I am aware of this opening up for many security risks, i e background: url('javascript:alert("Got your cookies! " + document.cookies'). Hence I am looking for a solution to sanitize the CSS while still allowing as much CSS functionality as possible for my users. • Can I assign a maven dependency to a specific repo?

  So I have several large projects that use up to 8 different external repos, all specified in settings.xml rather than in poms. A lot of our internal dependencies are snapshots, so this obviously causes a lot of checking for updates across several external repos, when they are all in our internal repo. So my question is, is there a way to setup a profile/filter or anything similar where I can ensure that an update will only be checked for in a specific repo(s)? This is all in the spirit of better/quicker builds. Thanks!

  After watching in horror as the .NET framework 3.5 SP1 bloated to whopping 231 MB I was amazed to see that .NET Framework 4 Full (x86) is only 35 MB and client profile just 29 MB. My question is if .NET Framework 4 is in any way dependent on previous versions of the framework being installed on the client machine or if my users will have to download only 29 (or 35) MB if I develop a Winforms or WPF desktop application in VS 2010 targeting .NET Framework version 4.0? Edit: Wikipedia concurs with the answers: Some developers have expressed concerns about the large size of .NET framework runtime installers for end-users. The size is around 54 MB for .NET 3.0, 197 MB for .NET 3.5, and 250 MB for .NET 3.5 SP1 (while using web installer the typical download for Windows XP is around 50 MB, for Windows Vista - 20 MB). The size issue is partially solved with .NET 4 installer (x86 + x64) being 54 MB and not embedding full runtime installation packages for previous versions.

• Optimizing an iphone app for 3G in landscape with opengl, camera, quartz

  I have an iphone app that basically uses the camera, an opengl layer, and UIViews (some drawing with Quartz). It runs ok on 3GS, but on the 3G it is unusable. Particularly, when I press a UIButton, it literally takes sometimes 10 seconds to register the press. Shark doesn't do me much good because it crashes when I try to profile even a tiny portion, and I've tried turning off some of the layers to see if they might be obvious contributors to the lag. I've noticed that turning off the camera really helps. I'm wondering if anyone has any familiarity with this and might suggest some likely causes. I had issues with extreme slowdown from running my app in landscape mode and using transforms, so considered that might be a cause, but I'm wondering if hoping for a 3G to run something with all of the above elements is just not really possible considering the camera seems to really cost a lot. The fact that the buttons are horribly delayed in their response makes me think there is something fundamental that I might be missing.

  On stackoverflow in the users profile area there are many tabs which all display differing information such as questions asked and graphs. • Multiple ASP.Net Controls On One Page

  We have created a User Control for ASP.Net. At any one time, a user's profile page could contain between one and infinity of these controls. The Control.ascx file contains quite a bit of javascript. When the control is rendered by .Net to HTML, you notice that it prints the javascript for each control. This was expected. I'd like to reduce the amount of HTML output by the server to increase page load times. Normally, you could just move the javascript to an external file and then you only need one extra HTTP request which will serve for all controls. But what about instances in the javascript where we have something like document.getElementById('<%= txtTextBox.ClientID %'); How would the javascript know which user control work with? Has anyone done something like this, or is the solution staring me in the face?

  Is it possible to cache the response of a http handler on the server and on the client? This doesn't seem to be doing the trick: _context.Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.Public); _context.Response.Cache.SetExpires(DateTime.Now.AddDays(7)); The _context is the HTTPContext passed as an argument to the ProcessRequest method on the IHttpHandler implementation. Any ideas? Update: The client does cache images that are loaded through the httphandler, but if another client does the same call, the server hasn't got it cached. So for each client that asks for the image, the server goes to the database (and filestream). If we use a aspx page instead of a httphandler together with a caching profile, then the images are cached both on the client and the server.

  I am getting a field clash in my models: class Visit(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User) visitor = models.ForeignKey(User) Error: One or more models did not validate: profiles.visit: Accessor for field 'user' clashes with related field 'User.visit_set'. Add a related_name argument to the definition for 'user'. profiles.visit: Accessor for field 'visitor' clashes with related field 'User.visit_set'. Add a related_name argument to the definition for 'visitor'. what would be a sensible 'related_field' to use on visitor field? This model basically represents the visits that take place to a particular user's profile. Also should I replace any of the ForeignKey's with a ManyToManyField? The logic is a bit confusing. • Select distinct users with referrals

  I have a bunch of Users. Since Django doesn't really let me extend the default User model, they each have Profiles. The Profiles have a referred_by field (a FK to User). I'm trying to get a list of Users with = 1 referral. Here's what I've got so far Profile.objects.filter(referred_by__isnull=False).values_list('referred_by', flat=True) Which gives me a list of IDs of the users who have referrals... but I need it to be distinct, and I want the User object, not their ID. Or better yet, it would be nice if it could return the number of referrals a user has. Any ideas?
