    I have a website that runs of a third party search provider that is expensive. I am going to roll my own. Is Lucene.NET capable of ~25,000 products (or documents), each with maybe ten attributes used for filtering? I am looking to do a "narrow/drill down" or "faceted search". Does that sound like to much to ask from Lucene.NET?

Parents table has ssn, and fathersbirthcountry I'm trying to output the SSNs of all people who have the same countryofbirth as their fathersbirthcountry and also have same currentcountry as fathersbirthcountry. SELECT Person.ssn FROM Person, Parents WHERE fathersbirthcountry = countryofbirth AND currentcountry = fathersbirthcountry; the above doesn't seem to be working, could anyone please help me out?

    XmlElement has an "Order" attribute which you can use to specify the precise order of your properties (in relation to each other anyway) when serializing using XmlSerializer. Is there a similar thing for XmlAttribute?     In Asp.Net MVC 2.0, at least in the beta, you could decoration your model classes with data annotation attributes and enable client side validation that leverages that criteria defined in your model data annotation attibutes. Is there anything similar for Java Spring MVC 3.0? Is it possible to inject a component into the response pipeline that can inspect the model's annotated properties and render client side validation logic to complement the server side validation logic that is invoked prior to the controller handling the request?

  • Is there any reason to prefer UTF-16 over UTF-8?

    Examining the attributes of UTF-16 and UTF-8, I can't find any reason to prefer UTF-16. However, checking out Java and C#, it looks like strings and chars there default to UTF-16. I was thinking that it might be for historic reasons, or perhaps for performance reasons, but couldn't find any information. Anyone knows why these languages chose UTF-16? And is there any valid reason for me to do that as well?

  • C++: How to extract a string from rapidxml

    In my C++ program I want to parse a small piece of XML, insert some nodes, then extract the new XML (preferably as a std::string) RapidXML (http://rapidxml.sourceforge.net/) has been recommended to me, but I can't see how to retrieve the XML back as a text string. (I could iterate over the nodes and attributes and build it myself, but surely there's a build in function that I am missing) Thank you
