• Configure a container for using it with juju

  Is there a way to use juju o LXC containers that have not been created by juju bootstrap? The only configuration options for local containers are the root-dir and the admin-secret, which I understand some service within the container should be able to receive. Looking at the original message where this feature was announced that's probably zookeeper, but still I am not too sure how to do it. Any help will be appreciated.

• Tomcat 7 taking ages to start up after upgrade

  I recently updated my server installation from Tomcat 6 to Tomcat 7, in order to take advantage of better connection pooling. My project uses Hibernate, for object persistance, a Mysql 5.5.20 database, and memcached for caching. When I was using Tomcat 6, Tomcat would start in about 8 seconds. After moving to Tomcat 7, it now takes between 75 - 80 seconds to start (this is on a Macbook pro 15", core i7 2Ghz, 8Gb of RAM). I have already checked that I have security permissions to that database from my machine, (and anyway, it connects after 75 secs, so it cant be that). My initial thought was that Tomcat 7 and hibernate are doing something weird (like pre-instantiating a bunch of connections or something), and the latency to the database is amplifying the effects.   I would like to move site that uses Zend Framework 2 from Apache to Nginx. The problem is that site have 6 modules, and apache handles it by aliases defined in httpd-vhosts.conf, #httpd-vhosts.conf <VirtualHost _default_:443> ServerName localhost:443 Alias /develop/cpanel "C:/webapps/develop/mil_catele_cp/public" Alias /develop/docs/tech "C:/webapps/develop/mil_catele_tech_docs/public" Alias /develop/docs "C:/webapps/develop/mil_catele_docs/public" Alias /develop/auth "C:/webapps/develop/mil_catele_auth/public" Alias /develop "C:/webapps/develop/mil_web_dicom_viewer/public" DocumentRoot "C:/webapps/mil_catele_homepage" </VirtualHost> in httpd.conf DocumentRoot is set to C:/webapps. Sites are avialeble at for example localhost/develop/cpanel. Framework handles further routing. In Nginx I was able to make only one site available by specifing root C:/webapps/develop/mil_catele_tech_docs/public; in server block. It works only because docs module don't depend on auth like others, and site was at localhost/. In next attempt: root C:/webapps; location /develop/auth { root C:/webapps/develop/mil_catele_auth/public; try_files $uri $uri/ /develop/mil_catele_auth/public/index.php$is_args$args; } Now as I enter localhost/develop/cpanel it gets to correct index.php but can't find any resources (css,js files). I have no Idea why reference paths in browswer's GET requsts changed to https://localhost/css/bootstrap.css form https://localhost/develop/auth/css/bootstrap.css as it was on apache. This root directive seems not working. Nginx handles php by using fastCGI location ~ \.(php|phtml)?$ { fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param APPLICATION_ENV production; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root$fastcgi_script_name; include fastcgi_params; } I googled whole day, and found nothing usefull. Can someone help me make this configuration work like on Apache?

  I'm currently setting up a shared staging environment for one of our applications, written in PHP5.3 and using the Symfony2 framework. If I only host a single instance of the application per server, everything works as it should. I'm not willing to disable open_basedir as that is only masking the problem instead of solving it, and creates a dependency between applications that should not be present. I initially believed this was related to a Symfony2 error, but I've now tracked it down to an issue with APC; disabling APC also solves the error, but I'm concerned about the performance impact of doing so. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might be able to do?

• mod rewrite works fine apart from for missing directory index files

  I have a legacy web site hosted on Apache. It has a number of web pages sitting in the public web root and its subfolders. publicDocs/ directorywith_no_defaultfile/ some-legacy-flat-page.htm .htaccess index.php some-legacy-flat-page.htm I would like to start using Zend MVC for some of the newer pages. I have got a .htaccess mod rewrite rule working so that any request for a non-existent file is sent to be handled by the MVC bootstrap file (/index.php). With my current set-up, the following types of requests are routed to '/index.php', the MVC bootstrap: /index.php /blah /directorywith_no_defaultfile/bloo The following types of request are served by old legacy (flat) pages /some-legacy-flat-page.htm /directorywith_no_defaultfile/some-legacy-flat-page.htm But, when I a request a non-existent file that is a directory like these: /directorywith_no_defaultfile or /directorywith_no_defaultfile/ I get an error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /directorywith_no_defaultfile/ on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. I suspect this may have something to do with the way Apache handles default files. Do you know which Apache directives could be causing this?

• Need a place to store a few bytes of meta information on storage media

  I'm working on an embedded project. I need a place to store some filesystem-independent meta information on a storage device. The device has an MSDOS partition table. The device also may have unallocated space (depending on its size) but it will be TRIMmed (and also may be blown away by new partitions in the future). I need a location on the device that is not unallocated and that has a low risk of being touched (outside of completely erasing the device). The device is only guaranteed to have an MBR at the point the meta data needs to first be written; meaning there are no EBRs/VBRs present that I could use. There are 446 bytes at the very start of the device available for MBR bootstrap code. Currently my only idea is to store data at the end of this block. However, the device is bootable and I have no way of knowing if I'd be blowing away bootstrap code or not. The sector size is 512 bytes and the MBR is the first sector, I'm pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong) that that means the second sector is available for use by partition data, so I can't use that either. Does anybody have any ideas? I need 4 bytes of space.

• Apache file appearing in directory list, but giving 404 when attempting access?

  Please forgive my lack of knowledge, this is more of a learning project than anything else. I have a linux box, and it works pretty much fine. When i go to example.com/css it says theres one file in there, bootstrap.min.css When i go to example.com/css/bootstrap.min.css, it gives me a 404 error. I have only one htaccess file to remove the index.php from the url, which also i renamed to htaccess (Instead of .htaccess, so apache wont find it) and i restarted the server, yet no help. I also tried to chmod the css file 755 but no help. Contents of the htaccess file: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / # Allow any files or directories that exist to be displayed directly RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L,QSA] Please help, i am very confused about this. I tried to google excessively but i came up with nothing. Edit: I found the solution to be renamed the htaccess file to something entirely different and restarting. Is there any way i can still implement the losing of the .php?

• Problems with shutting down JBoss in Eclipse if I change JNDI port

  1st phase I have a problem shutting down my running JBoss instance under Eclipse since I changed the JNDI port of JBoss. Of course I can shut it down from the console view but not with the stop button (it still searches JNDI port at the default 1099 port). I'm looking forward to any solutions. Thank you!   I'm trying to adopt crispy-forms and bootstrap and use as much of their functionality as possible instead of inventing something over and over again. Is there a way to have inline forms functionality with crispy-forms/bootstrap like django-admin forms have? On the sreenshot below you are able to fill out data for 'Question' object and below that you are able to add data for QuestionOption objects -you are able to click the '+' icon to add as many QuestionOptions as you want. I'm not looking for a way to get the forms auto-generated from models (that's nice but not the most important) - is there a way to construct a form that will let you add 'rows' of data like django-admin does?

• Zend Studio Debugger returns Application Error

  When I run debug for my public/index.php I got an application error as output. I've seen that it occurs at this line: foreach($feed->findFeedEntries($entriesLimit) as $entry) If I put a breakpoint before this, all works as expected, I mean, the error is after the line above. If I remove findFeedEntries() method, I can perform debugging without erros.   With the Zend Framework, I am trying to build routes for a REST api on resources organized in the following pattern: http://example.org/users/ http://example.org/users/234 http://example.org/users/234/items http://example.org/users/234/items/34 How do I set up this with Zend_Rest_Route? Here is how I have setup the route for the users resource (users/:id) in my bootstrap.php file: $this->bootstrap('frontController'); $frontController = Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance(); $restRoute = new Zend_Rest_Route($frontController); $frontController->getRouter()->addRoute('default', $restRoute); [As far as I understand, this is a catch all route so users/324/items/34 would results in parameters set as id=324 and items=34 and everything would be mapped to the Users (front module) Model. From there I guess I could just test for the items parameter and retrieve the item #34 for user #324 on a get request.]<=== I just checked it and it doesn't seems to work like that: Acessing /users/234/items/43 and var_dump($this->_getAllParams()); in the get action of the rest controller results in the following output: array(4) { ["controller"]=> string(5) "users" ["action"]=> string(3) "get" [2]=> string(5) "items" ["module"]=> string(7) "default"] } Somehow both ids got lost... Anyone?

• Zend framework "invalid controller" error message

  When I load the homepage of a ZF site I get a message saying "Invalid controller specified (error)" where "error" seems to be the name of the controller.
