  • Jquery in chrome plugin

    There is jquery on the page my script is trying to access, and the code I am trying to execute runs fine in console. However, when I use chrome.tabs.executeScript on that single tab, it says that $ is undefined. How can I fix this? Thanks for the help!

    I try to add simple Like button to my Facebook Canvas app (iframe). The button (and all other XFBML elements) works in Safari, Firefox, Opera, but in Google Chrome. How can I find the problem?   • Strict Pomodoro and other time management Chrome extensions

    I have recently begun using the Pomodoro Technique to increase my productivity. However, I still find myself getting sucked in to the vortex of useless information that is the internet. With that in mind I began searching for a useful chrome extension to replace the Android Pomodoro app I have been using to manage my ‘doros. I even considered writing it myself. Luckily, I stumbled on one that had a similar featureset to what I was looking for. Strict Pomodoro is an excellent Chrome extension for practicing Pomodoro. Though lacking a few key features, such as the ability to set the duration of your pomodoros and breaks, it still has a key feature that helps me stay on task. It blocks time sucking websites. You can set filter lists and it will keep you from accessing them during a Pomodoro. Effectively reminding you to stay on task. Also, the author readily admits that it was quickly put together and new features may be added down the road. For now, it is still an excellent option. For those of you who do not practice Pomodoro but are trying to stay on task. The StayFocusd extension will effectively manage the amount of time you spend on useless (non-productive) sites. It also has a rich feature set that may be better for your work habits. OK, breaks over. Time to get back to work. 25 minutes at a time.

  • Advanced Chrome/ Chromium won't set as the default browser

    I've downloaded Advanced Chrome (http://browser.taokaizen.com/) and am now using it instead of Chrome. Each time I open the browser, it keeps asking me if I would like to set it as the default browser, which I do. When the browser is reopened, it asks me again. I've looked at Settings and tried to click the 'make Chromium my default browser' button, but it doesn't appear to register my wish to make it the default browser - nothing happens! Any ideas?

  • Detect browser focus/out-of-focus via Google Chrome Extension

    Is there a way to find out if Google chrome is in focus or out of focus? I'm creating an app which needs to know if the user is currently using the browser or not. By tying the detection through the content script in a Google extension, I've tried using blur and focus but the problem is that clicking on the address bar also fires a blur event. Same goes for detecting mouse movement, where moving the mouse outside of the viewing area will not be detected. I've also tried looking at onFocusChanged but it seems it only detects changes in chromes' windows not apps outside of Chrome. Anyone have other ideas for this? Also, would this be any easier if I created an add-on for firefox instead? Thanks!

    Hey guys, I would like to write a small C++ app and run it on chrome using the native client API. I have a few questions though: 1) I compiled the examples on Ubuntu and ran the code on firefox but can't run it on chrome (using version 5.0.342.7 beta) Do I need to install something? An extension/plugin? 2) I can't find a single online application I could run? Links anyone, I want to see the power of this thing without having to compile the code locally. Thanks for your help, -hbt PS: I don't know what's the policy with asking multiple questions. If it's a problem, let me know and I will create multiple threads.

  • Keeping cached browser data inside ASP update panel textboxes/dropdowns for browser back click

    I'm new in VB.net/asp and am running a VB web application in a visual database program called IronSpeed designer. I'm primarily using IronSpeed in this case for its login/role security features. I have a basic two page setup for this app. The user logs in then is taken to AccountEntry.aspx, they enter data into textboxes and select some dropdown values that are linked to a sql database, then they click "submit" to move to Results.aspx. On Results.aspx, the user can change data and then generate several types of reports (PDF, Excel, etc). I'm used to setting up ASP controls inside ASPContent areas, and in these areas if a user performs a browser back click the previously entered data will still be on the page for potential user modification. However in this web app, IronSpeed is setting up the page and asp controls inside an asp update panel. It appears inside an asp update panel, cached values can't be seen on a browser back click. In this case, it's important that the orginally entered values still be there for the user experience if the user advances to Results.aspx then clicks browser back to modify a value on AccountEntry.aspx. If I have to I'll setup Session Variables and disable browser clicking, but that is last resort. Is there any way to save cached data inside an asp update panel and have it there for a browser back click?

    Hi there I'm developing an extension for Google Chrome, and have run into some trouble.I created an options.html page and added it to the manifest.json file.The page shows properly. I saved the options, and then went back to the page on which the extension is supposed to run. Unfortunately, the Local storage for the options was returning a 'null' instead of the option. If I set the local storage option directly from the extension's JS script, it works fine but not if it was set from the options page. Any idea how i can access the options.html local storage values from my Javascript file in the extension? thanks!

  • Chrome Extension: How to display tab objects?

    I am in the process of designing an extension for Google Chrome that helps to organize tabs (I know, there are many that already exist; that doesn't matter). I wish to open a popup window that will display tabs as objects (i.e., in the same way that it is displayed in the tab bar at the top of the browser). One way of doing this would be to pull various details (ID, Title, URL, etc.) from each tab, create a class and make instantiations of it upon the opening of each tab using these data, but this seems rather convoluted considering that what I want is sitting right there in the tab bar. Is there any simpler way to achieve this? In addition, I have seen several apps that utilize page previews. Is there something in the API that allows direct access to these?

  • Javascript in chrome plugin has syntax error

  • Showing a loading page in a google chrome extension

    I have searched high and low for this but whatever i do this simply does not seem to work. I have a google chrome extension which send an XHR request using a background.js file. Now my requirement is that i need to show a small loading icon while the xhr request is proceeding. Are there any tutorials out there which explains how to do this. I have tried an iframe but it looks ugly when it expands as the entire popup.html expands. Is jquery my only option here because that would mean adding a lot of size to my current project just for a simple animation.

In order to see the preview please visit chrome//plugins/, enable the Chrome PDF Viewer, and try again. When I check my plugins, I find that Chrome PDF Viewer is already enabled. Why can't I print?

    Google Chrome 's default web browsing history search engine only lets you access the records of the recent 100 days. Nevertheless in your application data, Chrome keeps your entire browsing history in SQLite database files, with the file naming scheme of "History Index YYYY-MM". I am looking for a way to search… …through my entire browsing history, …with sophisticated filters (limit search terms to certain fields such as URL, domain, title, body text; wildcard or regex terms, date ranges). … in … …either some ready-made software. eHistory came close, as it can limit terms to fields, but it lacks wildcards/regexes, and has the same limited time horizon as the default search. Beyond that, I could not find any suited Chrome extension or standalone (Mac) app. …or a command line to join multiple SQLite database files into one database, which I can then query (with the full syntax power). In the spirit of the pseudo code below: Preferred this way: sqlite --targetDatabase ChromeHistoryAll --importFiles /path/to/ChromeAppData/History\ Index* --importOnlyYetUnknownFiles Or if my desired feature --importOnlyYetUnknownFiles is not possible (feature could also be called "avoid duplicate imports by checking UIDs"), then by explicitly only importing files, of which I know, that they have yet not been imported into the ChromeHistoryAll database: cd ChromeAppData; sqlite --databaseTarget ChromeHistoryAll --importFiles YetNotImported1 YetNotImported2 YetNotImported3 All my queries I would then perform in the database "ChromeHistoryAll" P.S.: Additional question of general interest: Is there a way to perform a database query in a temporary database which was created on-the-fly from multiple files?     Online games can provide a perfect break while you are working and being able to choose from a multitude of games makes it even better. If you are a game addict then you will definitely want to have a look at the Game Button extension for Chrome. Game Button in Action Once the extension has finished installing you are ready to enjoy all that gaming goodness. To get started just click on the “Toolbar Button” and choose a game category. For our example we chose “Shooting Games”. Once you select a game category a new window will open. Towards the lower right corner you will be able to access a scrollable drop-down menu and choose the game that you would like to play. Note: Some of these games come with sounds that can not be turned off so you may want to have the volume lowered all the way or your speakers temporarily turned off if you are at work. For our first game we chose “Snowball Throw”. Notice that there is a nice variety such as “DinoKids – Archery” to games like “Secret Agent”. You can see that our game was nicely sized…not too small and not too large. Go go snowballs! This is definitely a fun one to try…the best approach for this one is to use one hand for clicking the mouse and the other hand for moving it at the same time. If desired you can post your score and see other high scores afterwards. For our second game we decided to try “Target Shooter Firing Range”. This one is definitely a little harder because you have to be extremely precise while moving as quickly as possible. Not too bad for the score but that is ok. You will certainly be able to have fun finding the games that will become your favorites while enjoying the nice variety. Conclusion If you love online games and want a good variety to choose from then the Game Button extension will make a nice addition to your browser.     I use this extension called Website Blocker to discourage me from checking Gmail/Reddit. However, it is easy and tempting to open a New Incognito Window; since extensions are disabled in Incognito Mode, I'm still able to browse Gmail/Reddit in this manner. Is there any way to disable Chrome's Incognito Mode in Ubuntu? Ideally, this would encourage me to use my smartphone as a dedicated Gmail/Reddit checker.

  • Chrome mistakenly downloads localhost/wordpress pages, but Firefox doesn't

    I have Wordpress installed at http://localhost/wordpress When I try and view a page in Chrome, it downloads the PHP file rather than showing the page. When I view in Firefox, everything works fine. when I create localhost/test.php containing simply <?php echo "hello world" ?> it displays in both browsers. Any ideas on what might be wrong? $ dpkg -l | grep apache outputs: apache2, apache2-mpm-prefork, apache2-utils, apache2.2-bin, apache2.2-common, libapache2-mod-php5

  • 12.04: google-chrome takes ~3 min to startup, just shows grey box before that

    This is what I see when I first start google chrome: http://i.imgur.com/suQUv.png I've tried the beta version, the stable version, uninstalling and reinstall through ubuntu software center, logging in and logging out of my sync account, purging and reinstalling through apt-get etc. If I have no profile on then it seems to load with a normal speed, however, even after purging all my local account data and reisntalling and syncing it still takes forever.
