  • 'Make' command compiling errors

    - by G_T
Im trying to locally install a program which is written in C++. I have downloaded the program and am attempting to use the "make" command to compile the program as the programs instructions dictate. However when I do I get this error: /usr/include/stdc-predef.h:30:26: fatal error: bits/predefs.h: No such file or directory compilation terminated. Looking around on the internet some people seem to address this problem by sudo apt-get install libc6-dev-i386 I checked to see if this package was installed and it was not. When I try to install it I get E: Unable to locate package libc6-dev-i386 I have already run sudo apt get update Im sure this is a rookie question but any help is appreciated, I'm running 13.10 32-bit. UPDATE: I've tried other suggestions I've found on similar error. All I have managed is a different but similar error. Here is what I get. • How to compile jsoup through Ant?

    - by JackWM
I tried to use Ant to compile the jsoup source. I can compile successfully, but cannot pass the test. Here is the process: jsoup version: 1.6.3 ; Ant version: 1.8.2 the source of jsoup is in the directory src/ I made a build file src/build.xml This file contains <project name="jsoup"> <target name="compile"> <mkdir dir="build/classes"/> <javac srcdir="src" destdir="build/classes" includeantruntime="false"/> </target> <target name="jar"> <mkdir dir="build/jar"/> <jar destfile="build/jar/jsoup.jar" basedir="build/classes"> <manifest> <attribute name="Main-Class" value="StateTrace"/> </manifest> </jar> </target> <target name="run"> <!--<java jar="build/jar/jsoup.jar" input="htmls/index.html" fork="true"/>--> <exec executable="java"> <arg value="-jar"/> <arg value="build/jar/jsoup.jar"/> <arg value="htmls/index.html"/> </exec> </target> </project> Note: 1. StateTrace.java is my own test program; 2. htmls/index.html is the input to StateTrace.java. Then I compile and run it with Ant: > ant compile > ant jar > ant run After this, I got err like: run: [exec] Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError [exec] at org.jsoup.nodes.Entities$EscapeMode.<clinit>(Unknown Source) [exec] at org.jsoup.nodes.Document$OutputSettings.<init>(Unknown Source) [exec] at org.jsoup.nodes.Document.<init>(Unknown Source) [exec] at org.jsoup.parser.TreeBuilder.initialiseParse(Unknown Source) [exec] at org.jsoup.parser.TreeBuilder.parse(Unknown Source) [exec] at org.jsoup.parser.HtmlTreeBuilder.parse(Unknown Source) [exec] at org.jsoup.parser.Parser.parse(Unknown Source) [exec] at org.jsoup.Jsoup.parse(Unknown Source) [exec] at StateTrace.main(Unknown Source) [exec] Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException [exec] at java.util.Properties$LineReader.readLine(Properties.java:418) [exec] at java.util.Properties.load0(Properties.java:337) [exec] at java.util.Properties.load(Properties.java:325) [exec] at org.jsoup.nodes.Entities.loadEntities(Unknown Source) [exec] at org.jsoup.nodes.Entities.<clinit>(Unknown Source) [exec] ... 9 more [exec] Result: 1 BUILD SUCCESSFUL Total time: 0 seconds However, if I manually compiled all the java source, like javac src/org/jsoup/*.java src/org/jsoup/parser/*.java src/org/jsoup/examples/*.java src/org/jsoup/nodes/*.java src/org/jsoup/safety/*.java src/org/jsoup/select/*.java src/org/jsoup/helper/*.java I could compile successfully and pass my test. • Compile OpenSSL from source using Xilinx EDK

    - by Asanka
I want to use openSSL functions in my xilinx C++ project. So i downloaded the source and tried to compile using the makefile. But unfortunately the linux box I was provided did not contained the required software (perl5, make, etc) to compile the source using makefile. So as the second option i tried to compile the source as a shared library. So i made a new project using existing openSSL source. But all the attempts were failed since it gave lots of errors including missing headers, unknown defines etc. If someone knows how to compile openssl as a shared library using Xilinx toolchains please help me. It would be really helpful if someone can provide the complete project which can be opened using Xilinx EDK. If better alternative exists to use openssl with xilinx toolchains please explain that also. Thanks in advance....

  • Generating new sources via Maven plugin after compile phase

    - by japher
I have a Maven project within which I need execute two code generation steps. One generates some Java types, then the second depends on those Java types to generate some more code. Is there a way to have both of these steps happening during my build? At the moment my steps are: execute first code generation plugin (during generate-sources) add directory of generated types to build path execute second code generation plugin (during compile) However my problem is that anything generated by the second code generation plugin will not be compiled (because the compile phase has finished). If I attach the second code generation plugin to an earlier phase, it fails because it needs the classes from the first code generation plugin to be present on the classpath. I know I could split this into two modules with one dependent on the other, but I was wondering if this could be achieved in one pom. It seems like a need a way to invoke compile again after the normal compile phase is complete. Any ideas?

  • VS2010 compiles solution without errors, msbuild fails: "fatal error CS0002: Unable to load message string from resources"

    - by Nathan Ridley
I'm having a lot of trouble trying to track down the cause of this error message. I have a large Visual Studio 2010 solution which compiles without error on my local machine but on the build server, msbuild fails on one of the projects with the error: fatal error CS0002: Unable to load message string from resources Here's the red error section at the end: Build FAILED. "C:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\85eff164854b9e67\Libraries\Domainface.Proxy.Common\Domainface.Proxy.Common.csproj" (default target) (9) -> (CoreCompile target) -> CSC : fatal error CS0002: Unable to load message string from resources. [C:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\85eff164854b9e67\Libraries\Domainface.Proxy.Common\Domainface.Proxy.Common.csproj] 0 Warning(s) 1 Error(s) The entire msbuild output from the build server is here: http://pastie.org/3660842 What does the error generally refer to, that would cause it to build locally but not on the build server? UPDATE I have just run msbuild /version on both machines and it turns out the .net framework versions are very slightly different. Local machine is 4.0.30319.488 and build server is 4.0.30319.1. I'm about to run windows update on the server to allow it to install some updates, as several seem to be .net framework-related, so I'll see if that makes a difference. UPDATE Installing the updates didn't help. Just remembered I copied up csc.exe from the async preview a little while ago in order to facilitate async compilation (the actual async preview had failed to install on the server due to visual studio not being there, but installing visual studio team viewer seems to have fixed that, so i've just run the proper async ctp3 installer to see if that makes a difference.

  • How to disable localization of errors in Visual Studio?

    - by MartyIX
I use Visual Studio 2008 and it really makes me crazy how it shows error messages (in Error List window, Output window - especially exceptions) partially in English and partially in my native language. Interestingly, it is worse in WPF than in WinForms project. I've read here that it is about Culture of the running thread (so that the problem is in a settings for .NET). Why am I solving it? It's simple because if I run into an error message and I don't know what it exactly mean or how to fix the problem then trying to google the problem in any other language than in English is very problematic. For example, it would be useful to set English for debugging purposes. How to solve the problem? Thanks for any suggestion!

  • How to compile scheme into native binary files ?

    - by Joe
I am very new to scheme. And now I am trying to compile some scheme code into binary file which will be loaded faster into interpreter. (The interpreter is a hybrid interpreter)Some one told me that I can compile the code into native binary file and then load it into interperter. And my question is: 1. What is the native binary file? 2. How can I compile the scheme code into a native binary file? 3. How can I load native bianry file into scheme interpreter? Thanks in advance. Joe Suggested that I want to compile below code into native binary file: (define test (lambda() (display "this is a test")) And then load the bianry file into interpreter and call the function "test".

  • Why does a looser specification in an overriding method compile after the exception specification fo

    - by Everyone
The code below has an overridden method with a looser exception specification as compared to the method being overridden. //AnotherMain.java public class AnotherMain { public void dummyMethod( String args[] ) throws IOException{ throw new IOException(); } } //SubAnotherMain.java public class SubAnotherMain extends AnotherMain{ @Override public void dummyMethod( String[] args ) throws Exception { // To get this to compile, change the above - throws IOException, Exception super.dummyMethod(args); throw new Exception("This will not compile unless the exception specification has IOException too"); } } Afaik, the overriding method should not compile at all as the looser specification might break substitutability. Why does it compile after the original exception specification is included in the override? What have I misunderstood?

I want to use encoding too. when I use build-x264-armv6/7,The console show me "mp4 output: no". Does anyone know how to compile x264 which is able to encoding H.264?

  • Version of STL optimized for compile time?

    - by anon
Hi! I'm looking for a variant of the STL (it's okay if it doesn't have all the functionality) that's optimized for short compile times -- I get bothered by long compile times that delay my compile-debug-edit cycle. I'm mainly interested in the containers of the STL: vector/map, and not so much the algorithms. Thanks!

  • flex builder 3 compiler won't show errors or compile specific pages

    - by Ben
In flexbuilder 3 for some mxml files I can purposely put in syntax errors and the compiler will seem to compile the specific page(but actually not compile it) or report any errors for that page. Is there any way that you know of to get the compiler to report the errors to me so I can get it to compile the page. I've tried rebuilding all and cleaning the project already.

  • Programmatically create static arrays at compile time in C++

    - by Hippicoder
One can define a static array at compile time as follows: const std::size_t size = 5; unsigned int list[size] = { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 }; Question 1 - Is it possible by using various kinds of metaprogramming techniques to assign these values "programmatically" at compile time? Question 2 - Assuming all the values in the array are to be the same barr a few, is it possible to selectively assign values at compile time in a programmatic manner? eg: const std::size_t size = 7; unsigned int list[size] = { 0, 0, 2, 3, 0, 0, 0 }; Solutions using C++0x are welcome The array may be quite large, few hundred elements long The array for now will only consist of POD types It can also be assumed the size of the array will be known beforehand, in a static compile-time compliant manner. Solutions must be in C++ (no script or codegen based solutions)

  • compile a single ASP.NET (.aspx) page from the command line

    - by JoelFan
I have a Perl script that calls aspnet_compiler.exe to compile a large ASP.NET website. The problem is that it takes very long to run. Is there any way to compile just a single .aspx file from the command line? (I think that would suit the needs of my script) It seems that all aspnet_compiler.exe can do is compile at a directory level.

  • How to compile a Windows binary in Ubuntu?

    - by George Edison
I have a Qt application that I can compile in Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit and on Windows. However, I would like to avoid switching to Windows every time I want to compile the Windows version. Is there a way I can compile a Windows Qt executable in Ubuntu with mingw32 or something? Further, is there a way to integrate that compiler into Qt Creator?

  • does overload operator-> a compile time action?

    - by Brent
when I tried to compile the code: struct S { void func2() {} }; class O { public: inline S* operator->() const; private: S* ses; }; inline S* O::operator->() const { return ses; } int main() { O object; object->func(); return 0; } there is a compile error reported: D:\code>g++ operatorp.cpp -S -o operatorp.exe operatorp.cpp: In function `int main()': operatorp.cpp:27: error: 'struct S' has no member named 'func' it seems that invoke the overloaded function of "operator-" is done during compile time? I'd add "-S" option for compile only.

  • Collation errors in business

    - by Rob Farley
At the PASS Summit last month, I did a set (Lightning Talk) about collation, and in particular, the difference between the “English” spoken by people from the US, Australia and the UK. One of the examples I gave was that in the US drivers might stop for gas, whereas in Australia, they just open the window a little. This is what’s known as a paraprosdokian, where you suddenly realise you misunderstood the first part of the sentence, based on what was said in the second. My current favourite is Emo Phillip’s line “I like to play chess with old men in the park, but it can be hard to find thirty-two of them.” Essentially, this a collation error, one that good comedians can get mileage from. Unfortunately, collation is at its worst when we have a computer comparing two things in different collations. They might look the same, and sound the same, but if one of the things is in SQL English, and the other one is in Windows English, the poor database server (with no sense of humour) will get suspicious of developers (who all have senses of humour, obviously), and declare a collation error, worried that it might not realise some nuance of the language. One example is the common scenario of a case-sensitive collation and a case-insensitive one. One may think that “Rob” and “rob” are the same, but the other might not. Clearly one of them is my name, and the other is a verb which means to steal (people called “Nick” have the same problem, of course), but I have no idea whether “Rob” and “rob” should be considered the same or not – it depends on the collation. I told a lie before – collation isn’t at its worst in the computer world, because the computer has the sense to complain about the collation issue. People don’t. People will say something, with their own understanding of what they mean. Other people will listen, and apply their own collation to it. I remember when someone was asking me about a situation which had annoyed me. They asked if I was ‘pissed’, and I said yes. I meant that I was annoyed, but they were asking if I’d been drinking. It took a moment for us to realise the misunderstanding. In business, the problem is escalated. A business user may explain something in a particular way, using terminology that they understand, but using words that mean something else to a technical person. I remember a situation with a checkbox on a form (back in VB6 days from memory). It was used to indicate that something was approved, and indicated whether a particular database field should store True or False – nothing more. However, the client understood it to mean that an entire workflow system would be implemented, with different users have permission to approve items and more. The project manager I’d just taken over from clearly hadn’t appreciated that, and I faced a situation of explaining the misunderstanding to the client. Lots of fun... Collation errors aren’t just a database setting that you can ignore. You need to remember that Americans speak a different type of English to Aussies and Poms, and techies speak a different language to their clients.
