    I want MSDeploy to skip specific folders and file types within other folders when using sync. Currently I'm using CCNet to call MSDeploy with the sync verb to take websites from a build to a staging server. Because there are files on the destination that are created by the application / user uploaded files etc, I need to exclude specific folders from being deleted on the destination. Also there are manifest files created by the site that need to remain on the destination.     I am using CCNET on a sample project with SVN as my source control. CCNET is configured to create a build on every check in. CCNET uses MSBuild to build the source code. I would like to use the latest revision number to generate AssemblyInfo.cs while compiling. How can I retrieve the latest revision from subversion and use the value in CCNET? Edit: I'm not using NAnt - only MSBuild.

  • Cruise control merging problem

    Hi all, I am using cruise control which generated a particular output which is in text file format.So with the help of nant i am copying this file to another .xml of the same name in some other folder structure and i am using the file merge task which merges this output with my log files.I am also able to see this output merged in my webdashboard.Now i want this same output i.e .xml to be attached in may mail too.So is there anyway i can get this done??At present i dont get anything attached in my mail i.e no errors or warnings attached.   • Robocopy for Windows 2003 doesn't support /DST option

    Does anyone know if it is possible to download the latest robocopy for Windows 2003. The latest version provides the /DST option which ignores time stamps changed due to BST (British Summer Time). Every time we do a build and sync our servers when we go +1/-1 hour it takes hours instead of minutes because it sees everything as changed. I noticed it is included automatically with Vista/Win7 but the Resource toolkit that I downloaded doesn't include a new version of robocopy for Win Server 2003. If there is a place to download it from & will it also work on Windows Server 2003? Thanks.

    I'm investigating the possibility of utilizing my web host as a cruise control.net build server. If I have access to MsBuild or can deploy msBuild and run it, it would be great. I can not however find any resources that would tell me if cruise control supports being run as a web service or web app. Is this type of deployment possible? If not could the UI (it's web-based I believe) control section sit on the web server and send requests to the actual build server?

  • How can I stop cruise control re-building after a failed build?

    I got back from the weekend to discover that somebody *ahem* had missed a file commit last thing Friday afternoon... Cruise control has been having fun, and tried to re-build every five minutes since then despite no further commits. This means that my colleagues and I have received approximately six hojillion emails from cruise control. A single fail email would be more than enough to notify us. Is there any way to stop cruise control building on failure, at least until a new commit occurs?

    Cruise control service set to System - Allow user to interact with desktop for the service. I log out with my user id and cruise control turns off. Any idea what is going on here? If I start the service a console window comes up. As soon as I close it cruise control also turns off... I need it to always be on... any ideas?

    What are some non commercial deployment tools that allows a developer to speficy: a branch/tag, a revision and a target machine to deploy code to? I was wondering if there's a ccnet plugin of some sort that would allow the above to be specified. I know this could be done with a NAnt deploy script. However considering we're mostly using gui tools for feedback, plus the tortoise svn repository browser, it be cool to lear if there's an GUI simple GUI tool/plugin cheers.

It seems that I have the option of putting my file deployment under either <tasks> or <publishers>. Logically I would think it should reside under <publishers> but none of the examples I have seen online work this way. Should deployment happen within in <tasks> or <publishers>?

And i have triggered a force build from CCNET and it ran successfully with out causing any error. but, the problem what i am facing is that, whenever i'm triggering the build from CCNET dashboard (Force) it's keeps on to build continuously again and again.   • Commiting broken code to the repository for the purpose of backing it up

    I was just talking to another developer (more senior than I) and trying to convince him that we should implement continuous integration via Cruise Control. He told me that this will not work because he commits code that does not compile to the repository all the time for the purposes of backing it up. And that automated builds notifying us of failures would be just noise. Committing garbage to the repo sounds bad to me. But I was at a loss of words and didn't know what to say. What is the alternative? What's the best practice for backing up your code on another machine without adding a bunch of pointless revisions? BTW, our version control system is SVN and that probably won't change any time soon.

  • Unit Testing a rails 2.3.5 plugin

    I'm writing a new plugin for a rails 2.3.5 app. I've included an app directory (which makes it an engine) so i can easily load some extra routes. Not sure if that affects anything. Anyway, in the test directory i have two files: test_helper.rb and my_plugin_test.rb These files were generated automatically using script/generate plugin my_plugin When I go to vendor/plugins/my_plugin directory and run rake test they don't seem to run. I get the following console output: (in /Users/me/Repos/my_app/source/trunk/vendor/plugins/my_plugin) /Users/me/.rvm/rubies/jruby-1.4.0/bin/jruby -I"lib:lib:test" "/Users/me/.rvm/gems/jruby-1.4.0/gems/rake-0.8.7/lib/rake/rake_test_loader.rb" "test/my_plugin_test.rb" So it obviously sees my test file, but none of the tests inside get run, I just get back to my console prompt. What am I missing here?   • Bundler doesn't want to install hpricot on Windows XP with Ruby 1.8.7

    Hello I develop on a Windows machine but deploy to Debian. Trying to use hpricot with Rails 3 app. I can get the gem to install using : gem install hpricot --platform=mswin32 But when I do this in the bundle file - it keeps throwing an error (I think it's trying to install the wrong version of hpricot (not windows specific) group :production do gem "hpricot", "0.8.3" end group :development, :test do gem "hpricot", "0.8.3", :platforms => [:mswin, :mingw] end This is from another question here on stackoverflow - but it's not working for me.   • Rails: Open HTTP URL From HTTPS site

    I have a rails application running on SSL. I also have setup Piwik (for analytics) and it is running non-secure i.e. HTTP. When I try to make a call to Piwik API from my ruby code (the application running on SSL) it gives me the following error: SocketError (getaddrinfo: Name or service not known): /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:560:in initialize' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:560:inopen' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:560:in connect' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/timeout.rb:53:intimeout' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/timeout.rb:93:in timeout' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:560:inconnect' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:553:in do_start' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:542:instart' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:379:in get_response' app/controllers/piwik_charts_controller.rb:195:inmake_graph' It works perfect when I make call from an application running on HTTP.
