Client is using double data entry system to reduce the errors. We are maintaining entry number in infopath form to seperate each entry. Note: I know we can compare xml data files of 2 documents. (xml data file has field names like field1,field2 and so on..while on form that field1 represent some meaninngful text) But the question is we want to compare it Visually side by side.   • Why are there performance differences when a SQL function is called from .Net app vs when the same c

    We are having a problem in our test and dev environments with a function that runs quite slowly at times when called from an .Net Application. When we call this function directly from management studio it works fine. Here are the differences when they are profiled: From the Application: CPU: 906 Reads: 61853 Writes: 0 Duration: 926 From SSMS: CPU: 15 Reads: 11243 Writes: 0 Duration: 31 Now we have determined that when we recompile the function the performance returns to what we are expecting and the performance profile when run from the application matches that of what we get when we run it from SSMS. It will start slowing down again at what appear to random intervals. We have not seen this in prod but they may be in part because everything is recompiled there on a weekly basis. So what might cause this sort of behavior?

    I recently obtained a Mac so I could test our sites on Safari and Firefox for Mac OS. Now that Safari 5 is out, I'm not sure what I should do about upgrading. I presume what works on Safari 5 works on Safari 4, but I can't be sure, and vice versa. So, I don't know if I should upgrade and test on Safari 5 or keep on with Safari 4. Are there any major differences between these two version in terms of CSS (2.1) handling or JavaScript? When do you think the majority of people will have Safari 5 instead of 4? All thoughts appreciated.

    My question is simply: what are the differences in performance between synchronous and asynchronous JavaScript script loading? From what I've gathered synchronous code blocks the loading of a page and/or rest of the code from executing. This happens at two levels. First, at the level of the script actually loading, and secondly, within the JavaScript code itself. For example, on the page: Synchronous: <script src="demo_async.js" type="text/javascript"></script> Asynchronous: <script async src="demo_async.js" type="text/javascript"></script> And within a script: Synchronous: function a() {alert("a"); function b() {alert("b");}} Asynchronous (and self-executing): (function(a, function(b){ alert(b); }) { alert(a); }))(); So what really is the difference in performance from using these different loading methods and JavaScript patterns?

  • Differences between KVR16N11H/8 and KVR16N11/8 memory except for height?

    I accidentally ordered KVR16N11/8 instead of KVR16N11H/8 and I'm wondering if I'm going to have compability issues with my Intel DP67DE motherboard. When searching for compatible RAM on Kingstons site for that motherboard the KVR16N11H/8 RAM was one of the compatible ones. The KVR16N11/8 did not show up as compatible for that motherboard. The only difference I can see is that they have different physical height, or am I missing something?

  • Differences in memory consumption between two identical D7 sites?

    I'm running Drupal on a news site that has a lot of different View blocks on the front page (~5 total, all cached). In trying to reduce the memory footprint of the site, I've checked out source from SVN to a local development install to try and convert some of those blocks into more optimized code. Here's the weird thing. Devel module lists memory consumption at 50mb on the Production site (Running Nginx, PHP 5.2.17, XCache and Zend Optimizer.) but only 14mb on my development site (Running Apache2, PHP 5.2.13 and XCache). These are nearly-identical versions of the same site — frankly, the Production site should use even less memory as I've disabled some of the modules running on the Dev site. Any idea why this might be the case?

    I have two systems I've just built. They both have i7 processors and Asus P8Z77 motherboards. When I run a simple processor loop benchmark that I wrote in Delphi some time back I get one machine showing nealry twice as fast as the other. I then used CPU-Z to dump me the details of the hardware and I see that the fast machine shows: Processor 1 ID = 0 Number of cores 4 (max 8) Number of threads 8 (max 16) Name Intel Core i7 2700K Codename Sandy Bridge Specification Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2700K CPU @ 3.50GHz Package (platform ID) Socket 1155 LGA (0x1) CPUID 6.A.7 Extended CPUID 6.2A Core Stepping D2 Technology 32 nm TDP Limit 95 Watts Core Speed 3610.7 MHz Multiplier x FSB 36.0 x 100.3 MHz Stock frequency 3500 MHz the slow machine shows: Processor 1 ID = 0 Number of cores 4 (max 8) Number of threads 8 (max 16) Name Intel Core i7 2600K Codename Sandy Bridge Specification Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz Package (platform ID) Socket 1155 LGA (0x1) CPUID 6.A.7 Extended CPUID 6.2A Core Stepping D2 Technology 32 nm TDP Limit 95 Watts Core Speed 1648.2 MHz Multiplier x FSB 16.0 x 103.0 MHz Stock frequency 3400 MHz i.e the slow machine has a 2600k to the fast machine 2700k. The very different "Multiplier x FSB" must be significant but I dont understand how two processors with a very 'similar' number can be so different.   • How do I fix Internet Explorer / Firefox differences in Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise?

    Our company uses Oracle's JD Edwards Enterprise to do accounting work. We have an application consultant working for us to just deal JD Edwards but he is of non-technical background so only helps in application-specific support. All of our users should use IE 7 for JDE. About 15-20% of those users have problems which cause them to not be able to use IE 7. So those problematic users use firefox. For the most part firefox works fine but there are a few issues. Some menus / options within JDE that are present in IE 7 are not present in firefox. If I could get all of our users working under IE 7, all the firefox issues would be mute points. I have cross referenced Internet Options settings from a working IE 7 user and a non-working IE 7 user. All settings seem to be mirrored. I'm not sure how to go about continuing to troubleshoot this issue. So not only answers but just suggestive ideas for attack would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hi there, I'm trying to consolidate domain names for the servers I look after to just use one panel instead of 3 or 4, and one thing stopping me is that the provider I originally wanted to move them to only lets me the following kinds of records: A MX NS CNAME TXT The first four I understand, but I'm not sure about the relationship (if any) between SRV records and TXT records. Can I use TXT records in the place of SRV records? They both seem to be general text records to just point at a particular server without needing to specify a particular protocol, so it doesn't sound like a totally unreasonable assumption, but I'd rather check here before I break something. If I can only set the above records, does that mean I'm essentially unable to so any SRC record redirecting? Thanks!

  • Differences between how OS X Snow Leopard and Lion interface with a proxy?

    We have a proxy at school, which requires a login/password, and blocks a certain number of sites that aren't "school related" (facebook, youtube, etc.) While I'm able to get through to most things, people who've upgraded to Lion can't get through to anything, even though I've replicated my proxy/network settings on their machines. Is it possible that the difference in OS versions is causing this? I have Snow Leopard, they have Lion.

    I'm trying to run my php App on Ubuntu Server 11.10. This App works fine under Apache + PHP in windows. I have other applications that I can simply copy&paste between the 2 OS and they work on both. (These don't use cURL). However this one uses the php library tonic (RESTful webservices) and makes us of php cURL module. The issue is I'm not getting an error message which makes it impossible to find the issue. I (must) use NTLM authentication and this is done with AuthenNTLM Apache Module: Order allow,deny Allow from all PerlAuthenHandler Apache2::AuthenNTLM AuthType ntlm AuthName "Protected Access" require valid-user PerlAddVar ntdomain "domainName server" PerlSetVar defaultdomain domainName PerlSetVar ntlmsemtimeout 2 PerlSetVar ntlmdebug 1 PerlSetVar splitdomainprefix 0 All files that cURL needs to fetch override AuthenNTLM authentication: order deny,allow deny from all allow from 127.0.0.1 Satisfy any Since these files are only fectehd by cURL from same server, access can be limited to localhost. Possible issues are: NTLM auth isn't overridden for files requested through cURL (even though AllowOverride All is set) curl works differently on linux $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_COOKIE, $strCookie); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $baseUrl . $queryString); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); $html = curl_exec($ch); curl_close($ch); other?     Our radio station uses a PtP wireless system to stream our radio and TV signals from our studio up a hill to our transmitter. We have been having problems with warbly sound and drop outs that come from some point in this system. An engineer that occasionally visits the station thinks it could be the switches we use on each side of the PtP wireless system to connect the PtP devices to the encoders and decoders and wants us to get two of these switches: http://www.amazon.com/Netgear-JGS516-ProSafe-16-Port-Ethernet/dp/B0002CWPOK/ref=dp_return_1 The encoder/decoder setup only streams 8Mbps total so it seems like the switches we have should not be stressed out, unless they are causing sufficient latency to degrade the performance of the encoder/decoder. At each end of the connection we only have 4 connections, is there any reason we couldn't get a cheaper, "home" quality switch like this: http://www.amazon.com/D-Link-DGS-1005G-5-Port-Gigabit-Desktop/dp/tech-data/B003X7TRWE/ref=de_a_smtd Is there a significant difference that we would notice in terms of latency between these two switches?   • What are the practical differences between an IP address and a server?

    My understanding of IPs and other DNS-type server-related issues really falls short (read: exteme noob). I know a dedicated server would increase speed. What, if any, difference in speed would a dedicated IP make? Am I correct in understanding the Best Practices from Yahoo that I could use the second IP to serve up some content, which would increase the number of parallel downloads for the user? Or are both IPs (purchase from same hosting account) going to point to the same server? Or how does it work? Are there other optimization things I should be aware of when thinking of purchasing a dedicated IP? Clarification I am talking about the speed of serving the webpages, i.e. the speed of my website. Yes, I know that IP and server are completely different, not even opposites, just different. But this, indeed, is my question! The Question Reformulated: Will having a second (dedicated) IP on my website speed up the time that it will load and display for the user? Or does that have nothing at all to do with IP, and is only a server issue? I'm sorry if this is still unclear. This is a real question though, I may just not be wording it well.

    I would like to calculate the difference in weeks between two dates, where two dates are considered part of the same week if their preceding Sunday is the same. Ideally, I'd like to do this using DATEDIFF, instead of learning an elaborate idiom to calculate the value. But I can't tell how it works when weeks are involved. The following query returns 1 and 2. This might make sense if your calendar week begins with a Sunday, i.e. if you run SET DATEFIRST 7 beforehand or if @@DATEFIRST is 7 by default.     (note that this question is not about CAS, it's about the "May fail spuriously" Javadoc). The only difference in the Javadoc between these two methods from the AtomicInteger class is that the weakCompareAndSet contains the comment: "May fail spuriously". Now unless my eyes are cheated by some spell, both method do look to be doing exactly the same: public final boolean compareAndSet(int expect, int update) { return unsafe.compareAndSwapInt(this, valueOffset, expect, update); } /* ... * May fail spuriously. */ public final boolean weakCompareAndSet(int expect, int update) { return unsafe.compareAndSwapInt(this, valueOffset, expect, update); } So I realize that "May" doesn't mean "Must" but then why don't we all start adding this to our codebase: public void doIt() { a(); } /** * May fail spuriously */ public void weakDoIt() { a(); } I'm really confused with that weakCompareAndSet() that appears to do the same as the compareAndSet() yet that "may fail spuriously" while the other can't. Apparently the "weak" and the "spurious fail" are in a way related to "happens-before" ordering but I'm still very confused by these two AtomicInteger (and AtomicLong etc.) methods: because apparently they call exactly the same unsafe.compareAndSwapInt method. I'm particularly confused in that AtomicInteger got introduced in Java 1.5, so after the Java Memory Model change (so it is obviously not something that could "fail spuriously in 1.4" but whose behavior changed to "shall not fail spuriously in 1.5").

    Can you help me understand Linux HA? Pacemaker, Heartbeat, Corosync seem to be part of a whole HA stack, but how do they fit together? How does wackamole differ from Pacemaker/Heartbeat/Corosync? I've seen opinions that wackamole is better than Heartbeat because it's peer-based. Is that valid? The last release of wackamole was 2.5 years ago. Is it still being maintained or active? What would you recommend for HA setup for web/application/database servers?
