  • Ubuntuone Preferences does not show usage, name, e-mail, current plan

    Ubuntuone is correctly synchronizing selected files between two computers running Ubuntu 10.10. When I open Ubuntuone Preferences, Account tab, on one computer it does not display the usage, name e-mail or current plan. On the other computer all information is shown correctly. On the Devices tab the 2 computers are not shown. They do show correctly on the other computer. Any ideas on how to fix this problem.     I recently installed Ubuntu onto an encrypted partition using the LUKS+LVM combination that the 'alternate' installer offers. Now I want to create backups of my HD. From the LUKS FAQ: 6.15 Can I clone a LUKS container? You can, but it breaks security, because the cloned container has the same header and hence the same master key. You cannot change the master key on a LUKS container, even if you change the passphrase(s), the master key stays the same. That means whoever has access to one of the clones can decrypt them all, completely bypassing the passphrases. How can the existence of a perfect clone of my encrypted HD break security if it contains the exact same information as my live encrypted HD? In which sense does keeping updated clones of my LUKS-encrypted HD around "break security"?

  • How to cross-compile programs for the Raspberry Pi with gcc?

    I am fond of using gcc to compile small little C and C++ programs on my main computer. However, I also have a Raspberry Pi, and, being a 700-MHz single-core computer, I would prefer to not have to do my development work on it every time I want to create a binary for it. How (for I know that there's a way) do I cross-compile my program for the Raspberry Pi using my x86 laptop? And is there a way that I may compile C(++) programs on the Pi but produce an x86 binary? If it's any help, "The SoC is a Broadcom BCM2835. This contains an ARM1176JZFS, with floating point..." (according to the official Raspberry Pi FAQ).

Just for sake of example, I have started a job in software house and my CEO hands me a project. And I have no idea or flow chart in my mind through which I would develop that application. For example client needs an E-diary. I have idea of WPF but lacking flow of app. So my question is can I ask about the app that "what would be the idea to develop the application"?

  • Why not sync folders outside home with Ubuntu One?

    It took me a while to find out that with Ubuntu One I can sync only folders in my home folder. On all other folders the Ubuntu One option is available in preferences, but the actual actions are greyed out. The Ubuntu One FAQ is quite clear on that: No, currently you can only select to synchronize folders inside your home directory. But I actually wonder why and if this is going to change and if there is a trick around it (an other one than setting my home to /) ? I personally don't have any important data in my home folder other than the program configs. All documents, pictures, music are on a folder called /data that is actually on a different partition. That makes it much easier when one wants to reinstall Ubuntu.

  • Files don't sync with U1.

    I am running 10.1 (all current updates have been installed) and I'm unable to sync any files to U1. U1 shows my computer as being added to my account and I bought enough space to hold all the files I want backed up, but for some reason it still doesn't sync. I have marked the files to be synced and even checked the devices tab in the U1 preferences; it shows my computer as being part of my account but the connect button is inoperable and restart doesn't produce any effect when clicked. I have read all the FAQ I can find relating to my problem and have tried all the suggestions that seem to adress problems similar to mine, as well as adding and removing my computer from my account a bunch of times. None of these produced any effect one way or another. I'm not very techno savvy so step by step and/or lay mens terms are greatly appreciated, Thank you

    I want to create my own deb repository to store some packages. I've tried reprepro and it works fine, except one but fundamental feature. Reprepro can't store several versions of the same package in the repository. But the ability to store several versions of the same package is essential to me, so I'm asking what soft can do such a thing. Here is a piece of reprepro FAQ that shows that it can't do it: 3.1) Can I have two versions of a package in the same distribution? ------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry, this is not possible right now, as reprepro heavily optimizes at only having one version of a package in a suite-type-component-architecture quadruple. You can have different versions in different architectures and/or components within the same suite.     My question has to do with whether to create an oDesk agency (I've searched to verify that oDesk questions are appropriate). I have a project for which I was hired, and the client has given me authorization to subcontract a few hours of UI/UX expertise. I don't want to make the client hire the UI/UX guy directly; however, if I hire someone with my company account and then bill the client for the time, oDesk is taking 19% off the top (10% twice). I've checked their FAQ and filed a support ticket several days ago, but nobody has replied. If there's anyone who has had experience with oDesk agencies, do you think it can be handled this way? In other words, can I be the developer in my own agency while also having a UX person on the team?

  • UIDocumentInteractionController in iOS for Whatsapp Integration

    I was looking for a way to share my application created files through Whatsapp. I found we can chat using custom URL scheme provided by whatsapp : https://www.whatsapp.com/faq/iphone/23559013. But, to share files of my app, read that I have to use DicumentIntercationController. So, is there any smaple available? Also, when I read about apple docs, it says, "Create an instance of the UIDocumentInteractionController class for each file you want to interact with" (https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/FileManagement/Conceptual/DocumentInteraction_TopicsForIOS/Articles/PreviewingandOpeningItems.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40010410-SW1). So is it necessary to create instance for each file? I just want to share the files as and when i receive it through my service to my app. Thanks for the help in advance.

  • How can I use the Graphviz macro in XWiki 2.0 syntax?

    The XWiki FAQ gives an example for XWiki 1.0 syntax: {graphviz:type=dot}digraph G {Hello->world}{graphviz} My XWiki is properly set up to display this. But I'm not able to translate this into XWiki 2.0 syntax. I tried this {{graphviz type=dot}} ... {{/graphviz}} and other variations, but the best I got was about "graphviz" not being a valid macro. What's the correct syntax?
