  • How to get Ruby support in Zend Studio?

    Zend Studio is basically Eclipse that has been optimized for working with Zend Framework projects. Well I have a few files in my Zend Framework project that happen to be Ruby files. Zend Studio doesn't come with the ability to create/edit Ruby files with syntax highlighting. I could open in the default text editor, but there won't be any syntax highlighting. How can I add support for Ruby files in Zend Studio?

    i have seen through other questions on the topic but most are a bit old. I looking for a good editor for developing on PHP in Linux(ubuntu). Here is my requirements Basic editor features Free Light-Weight Syntax highlighting Code Folding (class,function,if/else/while/foreach block) Code completion Invalid Syntax/Error highlighting as you type Auto code intending Snippet support(pieces of custom or language specific codes that i can insert) Extendable support It would be great if it had the following Debugging support WYSIWYG Code formatting Framework support(cakephp/yii/zend/smarty) Testing support Todo Native look and feel(Gnome) Flex/ROR support is welcome but not a requirement Mysql support I have tried the following editors Netbeans - it bloated, resource hogging and doesnt not have a native look and feel. Eclipse is okay but i cant fold if/while blocks and slow. Gedit can be extended and i have tried it but still i could not fold code or show error. I currently use Geany but it doesn't inform me of syntax errors as i type. If you have ways to solve the problems with above editors they too are also welcome

  • Google Webmaster Tools Data Highlighter says "Failed to load data, please try again later"

    I seem to be unable to access the data highlighter in Google Webmaster Tools since I attempted to start a new highlight on a page. Clicking the red Start Highlighting button to open the tagger did nothing, so I refreshed. Now, the page loads without the middle content section, then a few seconds later shows the following error: Failed to load data, please try again later. I can't get any of the middle section to load, even the list of current pages/page sets that have been highlighted—this error shows. I thought it may be a Google service outage, but other sites' data highlighters work fine. It also seems coincidental that it stopped working after I attempted to start highlighting—I was able to list the existing pages and page sets fine before that, and still am able to access the service on other sites. I've tried clearing browser data and have tried Google Chrome as well—same problem. What's happened?

    I have an idea for an Eclipse plugin which I've been toying with. I need to be able to extend the Eclipse Java Editor component and add coloured overlays to the code based on pluggable external metrics. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any kind of syntax highlighting extension point. Does anyone know how I might be able to extend the exisitng eclipse Java Editor to add custom highlighting rules? Bear in mind I'm new to Eclipse plugin programming so please give as much detail as possible.

    Hello, do you know any browser-side component, in HTML/Javascript, Flash, Applet or Silverlight, that would allow source code edition with syntax highlighting and auto-completion. CodeMirror has a good syntax highlighting support but does not seem to support auto-completion. If no such editor exists do you know any way to implement auto-completion using HTML and javascript or any other browser-side technology ? Thanks by advance.

  • Is there a Moria like theme for Visual Studio 2010?

    Is there some cool Moria like theme for Visual Studio 2010? Mine is highlighting gray font with gray background! I just can't configure it on Tools-Options-Environment-Fonts and Colors menu. Visual Studio doesn't seem to show an item for this "highlighting keyword/tag system". You select a variable on variable called myVar, and it highlights all with the same name but with a grayer color and gray background. I just can't read it and can't set it.

    Wait, I know! I know that this "syntax highlight in textarea"-question was raised like a million times on stackoverflow! But, please, listen. offtopic: I'm not a web-developer, and technically I'm not a programmer at all. I study mechatronics and deal mostly with control-engineering and digital-hardware. And I'm so pissed off that whenever I want to share some application (that would be helpful in my field) and embed it into the web, I need to know such a crazy amount of technologies, like html, css, javascript, flash, etc.. that takes time, which I could have been spending for the benefit of my own field. Right now I'm playing with hardware-description-languages and I'm writing some Python-libraries to convert one HDL into another. And I wanted to embed such feature on the web: http://xhdl2vhdl.appspot.com/ I wanted to implement some basic syntax highlighting (only keywords highlighting will be enough) so that the code could be readable. But the whole idea highlighting something in textarea is not trivial at all. The other difficulty is that the languages I work with are rare, and there are no out-of-box solutions for them.     Is it possible to change, in the message list of Thunderbird 3.0, the highlight color of the selected message when the list does not have the focus? The highlight color for the selected row is blue when the list has the focus, this is very clear. But when the list does not have the focus (e.g. after when you click in the message preview area), the highlight color is dark grey. However, this dark grey doesn't really stand out against the alternating row highlighting in the list (at least not on my laptop's LCD screen), making it difficult for me to quickly locate the message I've selected. So, any way to change this dark grey highlighting?

  • Why using Acrobat 10 resaving a PDF file that was 4MB will become 3MB?

    I had some PDF files and just try to open it and do some highlighting using Acrobat 10 (also called Adode Reader X)... After highlighting, I save the file (using a different filename), and now the file change from 4MB to 3MB... is it just compression? Or making the images have lower clarity? (thought I cannot see any difference). What is the reason? If it is just compression, then why wasn't it done before, as winzip technology is quite mature more than even 10, 12 year ago.

  • How do you make slides for programming talks?

    I've given a few talks recently and I have not found a good way to make slides. Here are a few desirable characteristics for programming slides: They're slides. A standard emacs buffer won't do it. They have syntax highlighting for code. They support basic formatting, like font size and color and bullets. No fancy animations needed. The only animation I desire is one-by-one appearance of bullets. So far I have considered: Microsoft Office - out of the question for Linux users. OpenOffice.org - too much for my needs, code formatting/highlighting needs to be done externally and pasted in. On the plus side supports bullets, bullet-by-bullet animation, and font formatting. Emacs - Supports all the code formatting but I haven't found a slides mode that lets me transition from one chunk to another. HTML5 - I once made slides using html5rocks as a template. It supports everything, but is too hard and time-consuming the "throw together" a few slides before a minor talk. Also the html5-only features may not work on the podium computer's installed browser. Any suggestions for programs/techniques for making code-centric presentations?

  • Sharepoint insists it knows the link to my UNC and won't let me remove hyperlink formatting

    We have a file share at work (one I do not have the power to rename) and it contains a space in it: \\WorkFileShare\Visual Studio\SP1 I'm creating a Wiki Entry that informs users they can locate the VS2010 SP1 download on this Share. For some reason, SharePoint will highlight and hyperlink the UNC up to the space. (I've been dealing with this behavior for years in Outlook and I fix by putting focus on the character before the space and then hitting backspace to remove the formatting). Simple enough and SharePoint also removes the formatting when you backspace on the character before the space. However, as soon as I move away from the link, SharePoint goes right back to highlighting and hyperlinking what it thinks is the UNC. Naughty Sharepoint!! So does anyone have any idea how to clear the formatting? NOTE: Highlighting the text and clicking on the "Clear Format" icon does not work.

  • Can I copy from vim to another window without +xterm-clipboard?

    I'm using Ubuntu and vim. I can copy text from vim and paste it into another window by highlighting it in vim, then middle-clicking in the other window. This works fine when I'm on my local machine. I can also copy into the system register by highlighting text and yanking to the system register. (For example, Shift-V JJ "+ y to go into linewise visual mode, highlight two lines, select the '+' register and yank.) It's then available to paste into other windows. However, if I ssh into my web host, I can't do either of these. (They use some flavor of Linux - I think it's CentOS.) In vim, if I type :version, my local version shows +xterm_clipboard, but the host's version shows -xterm_clipboard. I don't have sudo rights there. Is there any way to be able to copy from their vim without getting them to tinker with the installation?

What you need to do is delete package folder in your project and now open the packages.config remove all entry of package now.   Now Run this command PM> Install-Package UpgradeMvc3ToMvc4 If this is failed then see what thing make error in console. simply remove the reference and try again. Now run it and see this will work.   After run this you will see that WebGrease Dll have a version number issue. Simply update it to version 1.5.2 and now you have ready your project to run it in .net 4. If you do bin deployment then you don’t need to have installed MVC 4 on server either. Remember that MVC 5 is based on .net 4.5 which simply means you can’t run it in VS10. until VS12 update 4 MVC 5 cshtml page will be work as simple html pages (syntax highlighting and intellisense).   • Windows log file monitor that supports custom events (eg. sending an email when it detects the string "ERROR")

    I know this question has been asked several times before but I can't seem to find a solution for my requirements. I currently use BareTail, which works wonderfully except that it doesn't support custom events besides line highlighting. I'm also trying TailForWin32. It has a SMTP plugin but it seems to be in beta status, and the highlighting seems limited. It also doesn't handle rolling log files very well (a blocking dialog box pops up, whereas BareTail just rolls over naturally). All I really need is something like BareTail that supports custom events. First prize would be a tool with a plugin-based architecture so I can use my own messaging plugins, but anything that supports SMTP mail would be fine as well.
