  • Incorrect data when passing pointer a list of pointers to a function. (C++)

    - by Phil Elm
I'm writing code for combining data received over multiple sources. When the objects received (I'll call them MyPacket for now), they are stored in a standard list. However, whenever I reference the payload size of a partial MyPacket, the value shows up as 1 instead of the intended size. Here's the function code: MyPacket* CombinePackets(std::list<MyPacket*>* packets, uint8* current_packet){ uint32 total_payload_size = 0; if(packets->size() <= 0) return NULL; //For now. std::list<MyPacket*>::iterator it = packets->begin(); //Some minor code here, not relevant to the problem. for(uint8 index = 0; index < packets->size(); index++){ //(*it)->GetPayloadSize() returns 1 when it should show 1024. I've tried directly accessing the variable and more, but I just can't get it to work. total_payload_size += (*it)->GetPayloadSize(); cout << "Adding to total payload size value: " << (*it)->GetPayloadSize() << endl; std::advance(it,1); } MyPacket* packet = new MyPacket(); //Byte is just a typedef'd unsigned char. packet->payload = (byte) calloc(total_payload_size, sizeof(byte)); packet->payload_size = total_payload_size; it = packets->begin(); //Go back to the beginning again. uint32 big_payload_index = 0; for(uint8 index = 0; index < packets->size(); index++){ if(current_packet != NULL) *current_packet = index; for(uint32 payload_index = 0; payload_index < (*it)->GetPayloadSize(); payload_index++){ packet->payload[big_payload_index] = (*it)->payload[payload_index]; big_payload_index++; } std::advance(it,1); } return packet; } //Calling code std::list<MyPacket*> received = std::list<MyPacket*>(); //The code that fills it is here. std::list<MyPacket*>::iterator it = received.begin(); cout << (*it)->GetPayloadSize() << endl; // Outputs 1024 correctly! MyPacket* final = CombinePackets(&received,NULL); cout << final->GetPayloadSize() << endl; //Outputs 181, which happens to be the number of elements in the received list. So, as you can see above, when I reference (*it)-GetPayloadSize(), it returns 1 instead of the intended 1024. Can anyone see the problem and if so, do you have an idea on how to fix this? I've spent 4 hours searching and trying new solutions, but they all keep returning 1... EDIT:

    - by jad
i have this piece of code which only prints the line number of the incorrect words. i want it to print the linenumbers of the incorrect words from the txt file. Am i able to modify this code to do that? # text1 is my incorrect words # words is my text file where my incorrect word are in from collections import defaultdict d = defaultdict(list) for lineno, word in enumerate(text1): d[word].append(lineno) print(d)

  • TCP packets larger than 4 KB don't get a reply from Linux

    - by pts
I'm running Linux 3.2.51 in a virtual machine (192.168.33.15). I'm sending Ethernet frames to it. I'm writing custom software trying to emulate a TCP peer, the other peer is Linux running in the virtual machine guest. I've noticed that TCP packets larger than about 4 KB are ignored (i.e. dropped without an ACK) by the Linux guest. If I decrease the packet size by 50 bytes, I get an ACK. I'm not sending new payload data until the Linux guest fully ACKs the previous one. I've increased ifconfig eth0 mtu 51000, and ping -c 1 -s 50000 goes through (from guest to my emulator) and the Linux guest gets a reply of the same size. I've also increased sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_rmem='70000 87380 87380 and tried with sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_mtu_probing=1 (and also =0). There is no IPv3 packet fragmentation, all packets have the DF flag set. It works the other way round: the Linux guest can send TCP packets of 6900 bytes of payload and my emulator understands them. This is very strange to me, because only TCP packets seem to be affected (large ICMP packets go through). Any idea what can be imposing this limit? Any idea how to do debug it in the Linux kernel? See the tcpdump -n -vv output below. tcpdump was run on the Linux guest. The last line is interesting: 4060 bytes of TCP payload is sent to the guest, and it doesn't get any reply packet from the Linux guest for half a minute. 14:59:32.000057 IP (tos 0x0, ttl 64, id 0, • SQL SERVER – Fix Error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error ’80040e07' or Microsoft SQL Native Client error ’80040e07'

    - by pinaldave
I quite often receive questions where users are looking for solution to following error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error ’80040e07′ Syntax error converting datetime from character string. OR Microsoft SQL Native Client error ’80040e07′ Syntax error converting datetime from character string. If you have ever faced above error – I have a very simple solution for you. The solution is being very check date which is inserted in the datetime column. This error often comes up when application or user is attempting to enter an incorrect date into the datetime field. Here is one of the examples – one of the reader was using classing ASP Application with OLE DB provider for SQL Server. When he tried to insert following script he faced above mentioned error. INSERT INTO TestTable (ID, MyDate) VALUES (1, '01-Septeber-2013') The reason for the error was simple as he had misspelled September word. Upon correction of the word, he was able to successfully insert the value and error was not there. Incorrect values or the typo’s are not the only reason for this error. There can be issues with cast or convert as well. If you try to attempt following code using SQL Native Client or in your application you will also get similar errors. SELECT CONVERT (datetime, '01-Septeber-2013', 112) The reason here is very simple, any conversion attempt or any other kind of operation on incorrect date/time string can lead to the above error. If you not using embeded dynamic code in your application language but using attempting similar operation on incorrect datetime string you will get following error. Msg 241, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string. Remember: Check your values of the string when you are attempting to convert them to string – either there can be incorrect values or they may be incorrectly formatted. • How can I implement ansible with per-host passwords, securely?

    - by supervacuo
I would like to use ansible to manage a group of existing servers. I have created an ansible_hosts file, and tested successfully (with the -K option) with commands that only target a single host ansible -i ansible_hosts host1 --sudo -K # + commands ... My problem now is that the user passwords on each host are different, but I can't find a way of handling this in Ansible. Using -K, I am only prompted for a single sudo password up-front, which then seems to be tried for all subsequent hosts without prompting: host1 | ... host2 | FAILED => Incorrect sudo password host3 | FAILED => Incorrect sudo password host4 | FAILED => Incorrect sudo password host5 | FAILED => Incorrect sudo password Research so far: a StackOverflow question with one incorrect answer ("use -K") and one response by the author saying "Found out I needed passwordless sudo" the Ansible docs, which say "Use of passwordless sudo makes things easier to automate, but it’s not required." (emphasis mine) this security StackExchange question which takes it as read that NOPASSWD is required article "Scalable and Understandable Provisioning..." which says: "running sudo may require typing a password, which is a sure way of blocking Ansible forever. A simple fix is to run visudo on the target host, and make sure that the user Ansible will use to login does not have to type a password" article "Basic Ansible Playbooks", which says "Ansible could log into the target server as root and avoid the need for sudo, or let the ansible user have sudo without a password, but the thought of doing either makes my spleen threaten to leap up my gullet and block my windpipe, so I don’t" My thoughts exactly, but then how to extend beyond a single server? ansible issue #1227, "Ansible should ask for sudo password for all users in a playbook", which was closed a year ago by mpdehaan with the comment "Haven't seen much demand for this, I think most people are sudoing from only one user account or using keys most of the time." So... how are people using Ansible in situations like these? Setting NOPASSWD in /etc/sudoers, reusing password across hosts or enabling root SSH login all seem rather drastic reductions in security.

Im successfully able to host the application on IIS on my local machine. And it works fine. But when i try host that service application on Server i gets the below error Could not load file or assembly 'GMap.NET.Core' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. I do have reference added in my solution for GMap.NET.Core . I have tried to set the properties in my solution to Any CPU . Also in the application pool i have set the Enable 32-Bit Application to True. i have also set the Copy Local to TRUE in my solution before publishing. When i run the source on through my solution i dont get any error and the solution is built successfully. What else can i try to get my services successfully hosted on the Server and should be accessed through my application.

  • How to fix "The system is running in low-graphics mode" error?

    - by jokerdino
Note: This is an attempt to create a canonical question that covers all instances of "low-graphics mode" error that occurs to a user, including but not limited to installation of wrong drivers, incorrect or invalid lightdm greeters, low disk space, incorrect installation of graphics card like ATI and Nvidia, incorrect configuration of xorg.conf file while setting up multiple monitors among others. If you are experiencing the "low-graphics mode" error when trying to login but none of the following answers work for you, please do ask a new question and then update the answers of this canonical question as and when your new question gets answered. When I try to boot into my computer, I am getting this error: The system is running in low-graphics mode Your screen, graphics cards, and input device settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to configure these yourself. How do I fix the failsafe X mode and login into my computer? Answer index: The greeter is invalid

  • How do I run a sudo command in Emacs?

    - by Inaimathi
I tried using shell-command, but it just does something like this: Sudo password: incorrect, try again. Sudo password: incorrect, try again. Sudo password: incorrect, try again. Failed three attempts. without actually asking for a password. I don't want to have to start up Emacs using sudo emacs, but I guess that's an option if nothing else will work.

  • How to delete a residual Ubuntu directory from Windows?

    - by memo1288
I'm using Windows 7. After installing (and uninstalling) Ubuntu on my laptop, I found that it left a folder called ".Trash-1000" on my H drive. I cannot remove it: if I try to delete it from Explorer, it says: The file name you specified is not valid or too long. Specify a different file name. If I try to remove it from the command line, this is what happens: H:\>rmdir .Trash-1000 /S /Q .Trash-1000\files\Screenshot from 2013-09-24 11:57:32.png - The filename, direct ory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. .Trash-1000\files\Screenshot from 2013-09-24 12:03:45.2.png - The filename, dire ctory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. .Trash-1000\info\Screenshot from 2013-09-24 11:57:32.png.trashinfo - The filenam e, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. .Trash-1000\info\Screenshot from 2013-09-24 12:03:45.2.png.trashinfo - The filen ame, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. The files mentioned there are the contents of that folder. Using quotes around the folder name yields the same result. Trying to delete any of the sub-folders results in the same error, and trying to remove any of the files inside results in "No such file or directory". As I said before, I no longer have Ubuntu installed. How can I remove this folder?

  • Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SQLite'

    - by J. Pablo Fernández
I've installed ELMAH 1.1 .Net 3.5 x64 in my ASP.NET project and now I'm getting this error (whenever I try to see any page): Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SQLite, Version=1.0.61.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=db937bc2d44ff139' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SQLite, Version=1.0.61.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=db937bc2d44ff139' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. More error details at the bottom. My Active Solution platform is "Any CPU" and I'm running on a x64 Windows 7 on an x64, of course, processor. The reason why we are using this version of ELMAH is because 1.0 .Net 3.5 (x86, which is the only platform for which it's compiled) gave us this same error on our x64 Windows server. I've tried compiling for x86 and x64 and I get the same error. I've tried removing the all compiler output (bin and obj). Finally I've made a reference to the SQLite dll directly, something that was not needed for the project to work on the server and I've got this compiler error: Error 1 Warning as Error: Assembly generation -- Referenced assembly 'System.Data.SQLite.dll' targets a different processor MyProject Any ideas what the problem might be? • What's wrong with cplusplus.com?

    - by Kerrek SB
This is perhaps not a perfectly suitable forum for this question, but let me give it a shot, at the risk of being moved away. There are several references for the C++ standard library, including the invaluable ISO standard, MSDN, IBM, cppreference, and cplusplus. Personally, when writing C++ I need a reference that has quick random access, short load times and usage examples, and I've been finding cplusplus.com pretty useful. However, I've been hearing negative opinions about that website frequently here on SO, so I would like to get specific: What are the errors, misconceptions or bad pieces of advice given by cplusplus.com? What are the risks of using it to make coding decisions? Let me add this point: I want to be able to answer questions here on SO with accurate quotes of the standard, and thus I would like to post immediately-usable links, and cplusplus.com would have been my choice site were it not for this issue. Update: There have been many great responses, and I have seriously changed my view on cplusplus.com. I'd like to list a few choice results here; feel free to suggest more (and keep posting answers). As of June 29, 2011: Incorrect description of some algorithms (e.g. remove). Information about the behaviour of functions is sometimes incorrect (atoi), fails to mention special cases (strncpy), or omits vital information (iterator invalidation). Examples contain deprecated code (#include style). Inexact terminology is doing a disservice to learners and the general community ("STL", "compiler" vs "toolchain"). Incorrect and misleading description of the typeid keyword.

  • Top 25 security issues for developers of web sites

    - by BizTalk Visionary
Sourced from: CWE This is a brief listing of the Top 25 items, using the general ranking. NOTE: 16 other weaknesses were considered for inclusion in the Top 25, but their general scores were not high enough. They are listed in the On the Cusp focus profile. Rank Score ID Name [1] 346 CWE-79 Failure to Preserve Web Page Structure ('Cross-site Scripting') [2] 330 CWE-89 Improper Sanitization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection') [3] 273 CWE-120 Buffer Copy without Checking Size of Input ('Classic Buffer Overflow') [4] 261 CWE-352 Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) [5] 219 CWE-285 Improper Access Control (Authorization) [6] 202 CWE-807 Reliance on Untrusted Inputs in a Security Decision [7] 197 CWE-22 Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') [8] 194 CWE-434 Unrestricted Upload of File with Dangerous Type [9] 188 CWE-78 Improper Sanitization of Special Elements used in an OS Command ('OS Command Injection') [10] 188 CWE-311 Missing Encryption of Sensitive Data [11] 176 CWE-798 Use of Hard-coded Credentials [12] 158 CWE-805 Buffer Access with Incorrect Length Value [13] 157 CWE-98 Improper Control of Filename for Include/Require Statement in PHP Program ('PHP File Inclusion') [14] 156 CWE-129 Improper Validation of Array Index [15] 155 CWE-754 Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions [16] 154 CWE-209 Information Exposure Through an Error Message [17] 154 CWE-190 Integer Overflow or Wraparound [18] 153 CWE-131 Incorrect Calculation of Buffer Size [19] 147 CWE-306 Missing Authentication for Critical Function [20] 146 CWE-494 Download of Code Without Integrity Check [21] 145 CWE-732 Incorrect Permission Assignment for Critical Resource [22] 145 CWE-770 Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling [23] 142 CWE-601 URL Redirection to Untrusted Site ('Open Redirect') [24] 141 CWE-327 Use of a Broken or Risky Cryptographic Algorithm [25] 138 CWE-362 Race Condition Cross-site scripting and SQL injection are the 1-2 punch of security weaknesses in 2010. Even when a software package doesn't primarily run on the web, there's a good chance that it has a web-based management interface or HTML-based output formats that allow cross-site scripting. For data-rich software applications, SQL injection is the means to steal the keys to the kingdom. The classic buffer overflow comes in third, while more complex buffer overflow variants are sprinkled in the rest of the Top 25.

  • Getting value from pointer

    - by Eric
Hi, I'm having problem getting the value from a pointer. I have the following code in C++: void* Nodo::readArray(VarHash& var, string varName, int posicion, float& d) { //some code before... void* res; float num = bit.getFloatFromArray(arregloTemp); //THIS FUNCTION RETURN A FLOAT AND IT'S OK cout << "NUMBER " << num << endl; d = num; res = &num; return res } int main() { float d = 0.0; void* res = n.readArray(v, "c", 0, d); //THE VALUES OF THE ARRAY ARE: {65.5, 66.5}; float* car3 = (float*)res; cout << "RESULT_READARRAY " << *car3 << endl; cout << "FLOAT REFERENCE: " << d << endl; } The result of running this code is the following: NUMBER 65.5 RESULT_READARRAY -1.2001 //INCORRECT IT SHOULD BE LIKE NUMBER FLOAT REFERENCE: 65.5 //CORRECT NUMBER 66.5 RESULT_READARRAY -1.2001 //INCORRECT IT SHOULD BE LIKE NUMBER FLOAT REFERENCE: 66.5 //CORRECT For some reason, when I get the value of the pointer returned by the function called readArray is incorrect. I'm passing a float variable(d) as a reference in the same function just to verify that the value is ok, and as you can see, THE FLOAT REFERENCE matches the NUMBER. If I declare the variable num(read array) as a static float, the first RESULT_READARRAY will be 65.5, that is correct, however, the next value will be the same instead of 66.5. Let me show you the result of running the code using static float variable: NUMBER 65.5 RESULT_READARRAY 65.5 //PERFECT FLOAT REFERENCE: 65.5 //¨PERFECT NUMBER 65.5 //THIS IS INCORRECT, IT SHOULD BE 66.5 RESULT_READARRAY 65.5 FLOAT REFERENCE: 65.5 Do you know how can I get the correct value returned by the function called readArray()?

  • Rails - Beginner wants feedback on how they've modeled their app and how to do it better.

    - by adam
I think the way I've modelled my app is a bit fishy and i need to rejig things, im just not sure how. I've already re-jigged and refactored before. It took a long time ( I'm a beginner ) and I'm hesitant to it again in case i head off in the wrong direction again. Basic Idea, user can submit an answer, another user can mark it correct or incorrect. If incorrect they have to write the correct answer. Users can view their and everybody else's correct and incorrect answers. So I did it this way class Answer has_one: correction end class Correction belongs_to :answer end when a user marks an answer as correct, I set checked_at:DateTime and checked_by_id:integer on the Answer object to keep track of who checked the answer and when. For incorrect answers I create a correction object which holds the correct answer and again checked_by and checked_at details. I don't like this because I have checked_by and checked_at in both models. It just doesn't sit right. Possible solutions are: Create a third model such as VerifiedAnswer and move the checked_by/at attributes to that. It will handle the situtation where an answer is marked correct. Or are these models thin enough (they dont have any other attributes) that I can just have one model ( Answer ) that has all the attributes to store all this information?

  • Problems creating service using sc.exe

    - by Shoko
I have this command to create a service: sc create svnserve binpath="\"C:\Program Files (x86)\Subversion\bin\svnserve.exe\" --service --root C:\SVNRoot" displayname="Subversion" depend=tcpip start=auto obj="NT AUTHORITY\LocalService" Unfortunately, it seems not to work, even though the syntax is correct. When I run it, I get the usage instructions (which I guess is a way of telling me that I've supplied incorrect arguments, although I have no idea what incorrect argument I might have supplied). Can anyone help me out of my difficulty? Thanks!

I mean this is pretty basic RegEx i know, but I'm not getting it for some reason.. Thx

If the instruction is a common table expression or a xmlnamespaces clause, the previous instruction must end with semicolon. -Incorrect sintaxis near ')'. What im doing wrong?

  • Windows Azure Roles stuck in &lsquo;initializing&rsquo;, &rsquo;busy&rsquo;

    - by kaleidoscope
Technorati Tags: windows azure, roles, stuck, initializing, busy, stopping, tinu If you have worked on Windows Azure you are bound to have faced this gnawing and dreaded issue – Your Web/Worker role goes from ‘initializing’ to ‘busy’ to ‘stopping’ but refuses to get ‘ready’. For those of us who have resorted to merciless desktop vandalism over this, there is still hope. In his post MSFT’s Toddy Mladenov summarizes few plausible reasons for this - 1. Missing runtime dependencies (DLLs) 2. Incorrect platform version of a DLL 3. Incorrect DiagnosticsConnectionString/DataConnectionString 4. Queues/Tables being read during initialization do not exist. 5. Certificate without exportable private key. 6. Returning from Run Method in Worker Role. For a more detailed and precise account visit his post: http://blog.toddysm.com/2010/01/windows-azure-deployment-stuck-in-initializing-busy-stopping-why.html - Tinu, O
