  • Installing Ruby 1.9.1 on Ubuntu?

    I wonder about installing the latest version of Ruby on Ubuntu 9.04. Now I can run through the ./configure and make stuff fine, but what I wonder about: how to avoid conflicts with the packaging system? For example if some other package I install depends on Ruby, wouldn't the package manager install the (outdated) Ruby package and in the worst case overwrite my files? So I think I need some way to tell Ubuntu that Ruby is in fact already installed?

    Hi I'm interested to find out what would be the good way to make changes to production database and source code in web application (ASP.NET, SQL Server 2008). A little bit more details, we develop on local machines, and then we need to transfer the code and database changes to production (pretty much standard story). At the moment we do it in the evening, change the database directly from management studio on production server, and then just overwrite the existing asp.net code (copy/past). Thanks

    Is there an easy way to apply CSS/icons to the modal buttons on a jQuery UI modal dialog box? If I include the HTML to display an icon with the button text, it shows the HTML as text rather than rendering the code. I'm guessing I could write some jQuery to find the button and overwrite the HTML with what I want, but I'm hoping there's an easier more direct way.

    Hi I would like to zip a bunch of files (.exe and .dll) before I overwrite them with the new build. Is there a simple way to zip files without using some sort of dll? Just creating a folder with the build number / date time stamp will also work great. How do I pass parameters from the cruise control build process into my Powershell script that will do the work then? Is this a sustainable way to do things? Thanks

    Trying to copy a bunch of data over and time, unfortunately, is of the essence. I'd like to do an rsync of all the data in one direction, pretty much rsync just clobbers what's over on the destination server. Is there a way to do an rsync and just say, "overwrite all files" Is there a better way of doing this? We're talking 500GB of data that only has to go in one direction.

I change the color of text in the whole app to a certain color etc. Sadly the color of the title is also changed and the result is a somewhat blurry ugly style. I don't even know if this is possible. I should be able to take my values and create a new row with them, but if they duplicate another row they should either overwrite the existing row or do nothing.

I have this rule written in my .htaccess RewriteRule ^blog/([0-9]+)/? /obdelaj.php?ime=$1 which works but it redirects me to example.com/obdelaj.php?ime=# and i want the user to stay on example.com/blog/# I have a hostgator account and i dont have access to the httpd file , and i presume that a some configuration in httpd file is causing this, because on my localhost machine this work just fine. So what would i have to add to the .htaccess to overwrite this automatic redirection? Thank you

The mini buffer explorer just automatically opens after I open the second file(press Enter in project plugin window), then Mini Buffer Explorer opens as the third window on the top of my screen. But after I switch back to project plugin window and press Enter to open the third file, a fourth window opened! It seems project plugin can't overwrite the second file's window. What's the right way to fopen if I want to create the file automatically if the file doesn't already exist?
