  • Ubuntu snap-to-edge feature for XP

    Hi all. I am running Windows XP SP3 dual booting with Ubuntu 9.10. I really like the snap to edge feature of Ubuntu and wondered if you could get that feature in XP. This would basically prevent any windows from straying from the workspace and would allow windows to snap to the edges of the screen and to the edges of other windows. Thanks in advance!

  • Restoring Subversion repositories from backup

    Hi, I had to restore a subversion server from a backup image taken the previous night. Everything worked fine after the restore except for one repository. A working copy had been committed on the server after the latest backup, so this working copy had newer files than the restored repository. I tried to commit the files using tortoise, but SVN didn't recognize that the files on the working copy were newer than those in the repository. I'm using Subversion Server 1.6.5 on Windows 2003 Server and TortoiseSVN 1.6.8 64 bit on a Win7 64 bit client. Thanks, John

  • Is Rsync like subversion, but for a server?

    I'm trying to learn how to use rsync. I want to create daily backs up of my production server. Right now I run the command rsync -azr /var/www/* [email protected]:/var/www Now let's say one day, I want to roll back the /var/www/ directory on my production server to last month's version. How do I tell rsync to retrieve version N? On reading that rsync only copies differences between src and dest, I assumed rsync works like subversion where you commit changes to a destination, and keep track of every version, and with the option to checkout any version at anytime. Is that the way rsync works? It's like subversion but for an entire server? That would be great because then it means I don't have to do full ssh copies for my nightly backups.

    We're stuck with a Windows IIS 6 server at the moment. We'd really like to get a decent OS version control system set up for it. Can Subversion run without Apache? Most documentation that I've come across states that Apache is required, but I have seen a few mentions that Subversion can run as a stand-alone-server by itself alongside IIS. Alas, I can't find details on that particular configuration. Is that true and, if so, can anyone point me to some documentation on that?

  • Restrict subversion to only allow certain functions

    I'm in a bit of a situation. We have our private subversion server that we use for development, but one of our government clients is requesting access to our commit logs so that they can get an up-to-date picture of what we've been doing on the system. I don't have a problem with them reading our commit logs, but what I do have a problem with is them having access to our source code - they can't have read or write. The obvious solution is to do an svn log ourselves and give them an export, but they want direct SVN access as they apparently have an auditing solution that will import the svn log command automagically. So, is there a way I can set up access to a subversion repo and deny them access to everything except svn log? I don't care if I have to set up a virtualhost just for this, but it has to be done over http(s). We're also using LDAP for authentication if that makes any difference.

  • Firebox Edge 11 and SBS 2008 VPN produces error 721

    My VPN has stopped working. I have sbs 2008 and have run the VPN wizard. I have opened the port 1723 on my firebox edge as it instructed me to do. It was working but I think that an upgrade of the firebox software to version 11 has affected it. The port is still open. When connecting I get to verifying username and password then I get Error 721. Not sure whats wrong here. can anyone help?

  • Removing RAID on a DELL power-edge server

    We have a Dell Power-edge T110 server, with either a PERC S100 or S300 raid controller (I suspect S100), and 2 x 500GB SATA hard discs. These discs are running in RAID-1 configuration, (either 1 or 2 virtual discs), and on top of this, we have the C and D drives. As we are running low on disc space, we are looking at dropping the RAID to get some disc space back. Is it possible to split the discs back into 2 seperate hards discs that the OS can see, without losing all the data on the drives? Even better, would it be possible to split the D: drive, leaving the OS C: drive in RAID1 configuration?

    On paper, the HDMI version of the Lenovo Thinkpad Edge e120 is 1.3, which supports WQHD. Does it actually work? I want to connect the e120 to a WQHD display, such as the Dell U2711 or an Apple Cinema Display. I run Windows 7 Ultimate and latest drivers. The e120 I think has the Intel HD Graphics 3000 onboard chipset. I don't have the chance to test out the e120 with neither of these displays, so I'm seeking for an opinion from those who have tried.     I'm running Windows 8 on a Lenovo x220 laptop; and have just inadvertently discovered the edge-swipe feature or that brings up the charms or switches between desktop and RT. Only problem is that the landing zones are a little too wide for my liking - I'd like to keep this feature, but to narrow the zone where it can start. I'd rather not disable it completely as per: Modify or disable Windows 8 swipe gestures on touchpad / laptop The Synaptic driver (latest available) doesn't seem to provide for changing this (though it does for other zones). Any ideas?

  • Can't set correct desktop resolution on Windows 7 after playing Mirror's Edge

    Ever since I launched Mirror's Edge, my entire system seems to think that my monitor is 1600x1200, when actually it's 1920x1080. The game would only go up to 1600x1200, Windows will only go up to 1600x1200, and even my video drivers will only go up that high. The monitor isn't even that aspect ratio. I've rebooted the system to no effect, and installed the latest graphics drivers for my Radeon 5770, unplugged it and re-plugged it, etc. My secondary screen is still working perfectly correctly. Any suggestions?

  • Setup Version Control on Dreamweaver

    I have a win computer on the Network called WIN2K8FS1 I have TortoiseSVN on a win computer and when I go to checkout a repository with Tortoise it asks me for the URL of the repository. I put in: file://WIN2K8FS1/Media/SVN_repo And it creates the working copy. I am trying to setup Dreamweaver CS5 to work with subversion. I create a new site and I go to the Version Control tab and it asks for a lot if info. First is Access. I choose Subversion since that is the only option Second is Protocol. Not sure which I need so I go with HTTP? Third is Server Address. I am assuming this is the name of the computer with the repository so I put in \\WIN2K8FS1\ Fourth is Repository Path. I put in /Media/SVN_repo Fifth is Port which I leave default to 80 Then it asks for user name and password. I never set one up for anything so I put in my domain username and password. I click test and it tells me: Server and project are not accessible! I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I am not the server admin but I did create the repository and have access to it via Tortoise. So I am not sure what I am doing wrong in Dreamweaver.

  • Redmine connecting to SVN through SSL

    I am having trouble connecting Redmine to a locally hosted subversion repository using SSL. I suspect it's the self-signed certificate that usually triggers a warning in the SVN client and browser. When I try to connect to the local repo through SSL in Redmine, I get a red "Revision not available" error. When I try connecting through svn://, the connection times out, and I have to restart the web server. Connecting without SSL works without problems. It would be nice to run subversion on SSL to make it safely accessible from the outside as well. I could run the repository through plain HTTP but would like SSL for outside communication. As far as I understand, subversion can't be run both ways at the same time. Does anybody know what to do in such a situation? Is there a configuration setting to ignore invalid certificates somewhere?

    I've set up subversion and apache on my server. If I browse to it through my webbrowser it works fine (http://svn.host.com/reposname). However, if I do a checkout on my machine I get the following error: Command: Checkout from http://svn.host.com/reposname, revision HEAD, Fully recursive, Externals included Error: Repository moved permanently to 'http://svn.host.com/reposname/'; please relocate I checked apache's error log, but it doesn't say anything. (it does now - see edit) My repositories are stored under: /var/www/svn/repos/ My website is stored under: /var/www/vhosts/x/... Here's the conf file for the subdomain: <Location /> DAV svn SVNParentPath /var/www/svn/repos/ AuthType Basic AuthName "Authorization Realm" AuthUserFile /var/www/svn/auth/svn.htpasswd Require valid-user </Location> Authentication works fine. Does anyone know what might be causing this? -- Edit So I restarted apache (again) and tried it again and now it give me an error message, but it doesn't really help.     I'm attempting to create a branch in one of my subversion repositories and keep running into an error. No mater what is done, I keep getting the following: File not found: transaction '3062-2e6', path '/Software/XXXXXX/branches/testbranch' I've noticed that the first part of the '3063-3e6' in the above message is the last successful committed revision in the repository. My apache logs don't give much more information: [Wed Nov 24 14:10:38 2010] [error] [client x.x.x.x] Could not MOVE/COPY /svn/p070361/!svn/bc/3049/Software/SXXXXXX/trunk. [404, #0] [Wed Nov 24 14:10:38 2010] [error] [client x.x.x.x] Unable to make a filesystem copy. [404, #160013] [Wed Nov 24 14:10:38 2010] [error] [client x.x.x.x] File not found: transaction '3059-2e2', path '/Software/XXXXXX/branches/testbranch' [404, #160013] This is all happening on a server with an nginx frontend that proxies to Apache for the subversion bits. Other repositories are able to branch fine and I was able to create the branch using file:/// from the command line on the server this is occurring on. The permissions on this repository match every other repository and disk space is not an issue.

  • Subversion Partial Export

    I have somewhat interesting development situation. The client and deployment server are inside a firewall without access to the Subversion server. But the developers are outside the firewall and are able to use the Subversion server. Right now the solution I have worked out is to update my local copy of the code and then pull out the most recently updated files using UnleashIT. The question is how to get just the updated files out of Subversion so that they can be physically transported through the firewall and put on the deployment server. I'm not worried about trying to change the firewall setup or trying to figure out an easier way to get to the Subversion server from inside the firewall. I'm just interested in a way to get a partial export from the repository of the most recently changed files. Are there any other suggestions? Answer found: In addition to the answer I marked as Answer, I've also found the following here to be able to do this from TortoiseSVN: from http://svn.haxx.se/tsvn/archive-2006-08/0051.shtml * select the two revisions * right-click, "compare revisions" * select all files in the list * right-click, choose "export to..."
