  • Processing incorrect mac addresses from 802.11 frames with pcap

    - by Quentin Swain
    I'm working throurgh a project with pcap and wireless. Following an example posted in response to oe of my earlier questions I am trying to extract the mac addresses from wireless frames. I have created structures for the radiotap header and a basic management frame. For some reason when it comes to trying to output the mac addresses I am printing out the wrong data. When I compare to wireshark I don't see why the radio tap data is printing out correctly but the mac addresses are not. I don't see any additional padding in the hex dump that wireshark displays when i look at the packets and compare the packets that I have captured. I am somewhat famialar with c but not an expert so maybe I am not using the pointers and structures properly could someone help show me what I am doing wrong? Thanks, Quentin // main.c // MacSniffer // #include <pcap.h> #include <string.h> #include <stdlib.h> #define MAXBYTES2CAPTURE 65535 #ifdef WORDS_BIGENDIAN typedef struct frame_control { unsigned int subtype:4; /*frame subtype field*/ unsigned int protoVer:2; /*frame type field*/ unsigned int version:2; /*protocol version*/ unsigned int order:1; unsigned int protected:1; unsigned int moreDate:1; unsigned int power_management:1; unsigned int retry:1; unsigned int moreFrag:1; unsigned int fromDS:1; unsigned int toDS:1; }frame_control; struct ieee80211_radiotap_header{ u_int8_t it_version; u_int8_t it_pad; u_int16_t it_len; u_int32_t it_present; u_int64_t MAC_timestamp; u_int8_t flags; u_int8_t dataRate; u_int16_t channelfrequency; u_int16_t channFreq_pad; u_int16_t channelType; u_int16_t channType_pad; u_int8_t ssiSignal; u_int8_t ssiNoise; u_int8_t antenna; }; #else typedef struct frame_control { unsigned int protoVer:2; /* protocol version*/ unsigned int type:2; /*frame type field (Management,Control,Data)*/ unsigned int subtype:4; /* frame subtype*/ unsigned int toDS:1; /* frame coming from Distribution system */ unsigned int fromDS:1; /*frame coming from Distribution system */ unsigned int moreFrag:1; /* More fragments?*/ unsigned int retry:1; /*was this frame retransmitted*/ unsigned int powMgt:1; /*Power Management*/ unsigned int moreDate:1; /*More Date*/ unsigned int protectedData:1; /*Protected Data*/ unsigned int order:1; /*Order*/ }frame_control; struct ieee80211_radiotap_header{ u_int8_t it_version; u_int8_t it_pad; u_int16_t it_len; u_int32_t it_present; u_int64_t MAC_timestamp; u_int8_t flags; u_int8_t dataRate; u_int16_t channelfrequency; u_int16_t channelType; int ssiSignal:8; int ssiNoise:8; }; #endif struct wi_frame { u_int16_t fc; u_int16_t wi_duration; u_int8_t wi_add1[6]; u_int8_t wi_add2[6]; u_int8_t wi_add3[6]; u_int16_t wi_sequenceControl; // u_int8_t wi_add4[6]; //unsigned int qosControl:2; //unsigned int frameBody[23124]; }; void processPacket(u_char *arg, const struct pcap_pkthdr* pkthdr, const u_char* packet) { int i= 0, *counter = (int *) arg; struct ieee80211_radiotap_header *rh =(struct ieee80211_radiotap_header *)packet; struct wi_frame *fr= (struct wi_frame *)(packet + rh->it_len); u_char *ptr; //printf("Frame Type: %d",fr->wi_fC->type); printf("Packet count: %d\n", ++(*counter)); printf("Received Packet Size: %d\n", pkthdr->len); if(rh->it_version != NULL) { printf("Radiotap Version: %d\n",rh->it_version); } if(rh->it_pad!=NULL) { printf("Radiotap Pad: %d\n",rh->it_pad); } if(rh->it_len != NULL) { printf("Radiotap Length: %d\n",rh->it_len); } if(rh->it_present != NULL) { printf("Radiotap Present: %c\n",rh->it_present); } if(rh->MAC_timestamp != NULL) { printf("Radiotap Timestamp: %u\n",rh->MAC_timestamp); } if(rh->dataRate != NULL) { printf("Radiotap Data Rate: %u\n",rh->dataRate); } if(rh->channelfrequency != NULL) { printf("Radiotap Channel Freq: %u\n",rh->channelfrequency); } if(rh->channelType != NULL) { printf("Radiotap Channel Type: %06x\n",rh->channelType); } if(rh->ssiSignal != NULL) { printf("Radiotap SSI signal: %d\n",rh->ssiSignal); } if(rh->ssiNoise != NULL) { printf("Radiotap SSI Noise: %d\n",rh->ssiNoise); } ptr = fr->wi_add1; int k= 6; printf("Destination Address:"); do{ printf("%s%X",(k==6)?"   • Providing reverse records for records that map to ISP IP

    - by thejartender
    I have been instructed to use my ISP ip (as a temporary fix for mapping my name server and domain records as my router dishes out rfc 1918 adresses to devices in my network where I am running an Ubuntu server, my router and my development laptop andso I have fixed: $TTL 3H @ IN SOA ns.thejarbar.org. email. ( 13112012 28800 3600 604800 38400 ); thejarbar.org. IN A 10.0.0.42 @ IN NS ns.thejarbar.org. yuccalaptop IN A 10.0.0.19 ns IN A 10.0.0.42 gw IN A 10.0.0.138 www IN CNAME thejarbar.org. To a temporary version of: $TTL 3H @ IN SOA ns.thejarbar.org. email. ( 13112012 28800 3600 604800 38400 ); thejarbar.org. IN A 88.89.190.171 @ IN NS ns.thejarbar.org. yuccalaptop IN A 10.0.0.19 ns IN A 88.89.190.171 gw IN A 10.0.0.138 www IN CNAME thejarbar.org. I am using bind and when using named-checkzone on this file according to my zone configurations, this file has no errors. I then run dig thejarbar.org @88.89.190.171 and get an expected authorative reply. My issue is creating my reverse DNS SOA zone and I would gratly appreciate assistance and guidance. I am stuck on how to represent the reverse records correctly for the eddresses that map to my isp IP. I am trying: $TTL 3H 0.0.10.in-addr.arpa. IN SOA ns.thejarbar.org. email. ( 13112012 28800 3600 604800 38400 ); 171.190.89.88. IN PTR thejarbar.org. 171.190.89.88. IN NS ns.thejarbar.org. 19 IN PTR yuccalaptop.thejarbar.org. 138 IN PTR gw.thejarbar.org. www IN PTR www.thejarbar.org. But running named-checkzone on this file leaves an erroneous return that IN: has no NS records I would greatly appreciate assistance

  • Is it bad to have the Reverse DNS for two IPs point to the same domain name?

    - by Daniel Vandersluis
    I am in the process of setting up a new server for my domain (the site will be moved, it is not for load balancing or the like), which has a different IP address from my existing server. My current server has a reverse DNS PTR record set up pointing its IP to mydomain.com. Is it bad to set up a reverse DNS PTR record for the new IP pointing to mydomain.com as well? Or should I wait until I do my migration to set up the record?

  • How do I redirect www to non-www in Route53?

    - by fredley
    I host my site at domain.com. My DNS entries in Route53 are as follows: domain.com A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 300 domain.com NS stuff.awsdns-47.org 172800 domain.com SOA stuff.awsdns-47.org 900 I would like to redirect traffic from www.domain.com to domain.com, as currently this just returns a 404. This question on SO suggested a PTR record, and I added that: www.domain.com PTR domain.com 300 but it didn't work. What should I be doing?

  • Using Bitmap.LockBits and Marshal.Copy in IronPython not changing image as expected

    - by Leonard H Martin
    Hi all, I have written the following IronPython code: import clr clr.AddReference("System.Drawing") from System import * from System.Drawing import * from System.Drawing.Imaging import * originalImage = Bitmap("Test.bmp") def RedTint(bitmap): bmData = bitmap.LockBits(Rectangle(0, 0, bitmap.Width, bitmap.Height), ImageLockMode.ReadWrite, PixelFormat.Format24bppRgb) ptr = bmData.Scan0 bytes = bmData.Stride * bitmap.Height rgbValues = Array.CreateInstance(Byte, bytes) Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.Copy(ptr, rgbValues, 0, bytes) for i in rgbValues[::3]: i = 255 Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.Copy(rgbValues, 0, ptr, bytes) bitmap.UnlockBits(bmData) return bitmap newPic = RedTint(originalImage) newPic.Save("New.bmp") Which is my interpretation of this MSDN code sample: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/5ey6h79d.aspx except that I am saving the altered bitmap instead of displaying it in a Form. The code runs, however the newly saved bitmap is an exact copy of the original image with no sign of any changes having occurred (it's supposed to create a red tint). Could anyone advise what's wrong with my code? The image I'm using is simply a 24bpp bitmap I created in Paint (it's just a big white rectangle!), using IronPython 2.6 and on Windows 7 (x64) with .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 installed.

    I'm trying to set my simulation params in constant memory but without luck (CUDA.NET). cudaMemcpyToSymbol function returns cudaErrorInvalidSymbol. The first parameter in cudaMemcpyToSymbol is string... Is it symbol name? actualy I don't understand how it could be resolved. Any help appreciated. //init, load .cubin float[] arr = new float[1]; arr[0] = 0.0f; int size = Marshal.SizeOf(arr[0]) * arr.Length; IntPtr ptr = Marshal.AllocHGlobal(size); Marshal.Copy(arr, 0, ptr, arr.Length); var error = CUDARuntime.cudaMemcpyToSymbol("param", ptr, 4, 0, cudaMemcpyKind.cudaMemcpyHostToDevice); my .cu file contain __constant__ float param;

  • recv returns old data

    - by anon
    This loop is supposed to take data from a socket line by line and put it in a buffer. For some reason, when there is no new data to return, recv returns the last couple lines it got. I was able to stop the bug by commenting out the first recv, but then I cant tell how long the next line will be. I know it's not a while(this->connected){ memset(buf, '\0', sizeof(buf)); recv(this->sock, buf, sizeof(buf), MSG_PEEK); //get length of next message ptr = strstr(buf, "\r\n"); if (ptr == NULL) continue; err = recv(this->sock, buf, (ptr-buf), NULL); //get next message printf("--%db\n%s\n", err, buf); tok[0] = strtok(buf, " "); for(i=1;tok[i-1]!=NULL;i++) tok[i] = strtok(NULL, " "); //do more stuff }

  • TreeNodes don't get collected with weakevent solution

    - by Marcus
    Hi, When I use this method http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1089309/weak-events-in-net (by Egor) to hook up a event i a inherited treenode, the tree node never gets collected, is there any speciall case with tree nodes and GC? public class MyTreeNode : TreeNode { public MyTreeNode(Entity entity) { entity.Children.ListChanged += new ListChangedEventHandler(entityChildren_ListChanged).MakeWeak(eh => entity.Children.ListChanged -= eh); } } Entity.Children is a bindinglist. I made tests with a destructor on MyTreeNode and invoking GC.Collect(), with the weak eventhandler the treenode never gets collected but i DOES get collected WIHTOUT the weak eventhandler.

  • Another dynamic memory allocation bug.

    - by m4design
    I'm trying to allocate memory for a multidimensional array (8 rows, 3 columns). Here's the code for the allocation (I'm sure the error is clear for you) char **ptr = (char **) malloc( sizeof(char) * 8); for (i = 0; i < 3; i++) ptr[i] = (char *) malloc( sizeof(char) * 3); The crash happens when I reference this: ptr[3][0]; Unhandled exception at 0x0135144d in xxxx.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0xabababab. Are there any recommended references/readings for this kind of subject? Thanks.

  • Why aren't operator conversions implicitly called for templated functions? (C++)

    - by John Gordon
    I have the following code: template <class T> struct pointer { operator pointer<const T>() const; }; void f(pointer<const float>); template <typename U> void tf(pointer<const float>); void g() { pointer<float> ptr; f(ptr); tf(ptr); } When I compile the code with gcc 4.3.3 I get a message (aaa.cc:17: error: no matching function for call to ‘tf(pointer<float>&)’) indicating that the compiler called 'operator pointer<const T>' for the non-templated function f(), but didn't for the templated function tf(). Why and is there any workaround short of overloading tf() with a const and non-const version? Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Delphi 7 WriteProcessMemory

    This is my Working Code DriftMul:=99; WriteProcessMemory(HandleWindow, ptr($4E709C), @DriftMul, 2, Write); I want to Convert it without using a variable but it wont work Below is just an Example of what i want to do. WriteProcessMemory(HandleWindow, ptr($4E709C), ptr(99), 2, Write); Does anyone know a way to make this work with using a variable??? I am able to program in a few languages and every language i use their is a way to to do this. The reason i want to do this is because i am gonna be making a big program that does alot of writing of different values and it will save me around 300+ lines. Below is an Example in c++ i was using. WriteProcessMemory(hProcess, (void*)0x4E709C, (void*)(PBYTE)"\x20", 1, NULL);

  • why it is up to the compiler to decide what value to assign when assigning an out-of-range value to

    - by Allopen
    in C++ Primer 4th edition 2.1.1, it says "when assigning an out-of-range value to a signed type, it is up to the compiler to decide what value to assign". I can't understand it. I mean, if you have code like "char 5 = 299", certainly the compiler will generate asm code like "mov BYTE PTR _sc$[ebp], 43"(VC) or "movb $43, -2(%ebp)"(gcc+mingw), it IS decided by the compiler. but what if we assign a value that is given by the user input? like, via command line? and the asm code generated will be "movb %al, -1(%ebp)"(gcc+mingw) and " mov cl, BYTE PTR _i$[ebp] mov BYTE PTR _sc$[ebp], cl "(VC), so now how can compiler decide what will happen? I think now it is decided by the CPU. Can you give me a clear explanation?

  • Which character is first among 4 characters in c++

    - by Ashiqur Rahman
    In my project I take a string from user and then I need to check if vowels a, e, I, O, U are present. If so, I have to find out which one comes first in the string and which one comes next after that. For example, if a user gave input something like this: char expr[] = "this is for something real"; I comes first, then I again, then O and so on. I checked whether the characters are in the string or not using strchr(expr,'character here'). To find which character comes first, I find the index of each character using const char *ptr = strchr(expr, characters here); if(ptr) { int index = ptr - expr; } After that I check which index is bigger. But this is very long process. Is there a smarter way to do this?

  • function declaration

    - by robUK
    Hello, gcc 4.1.2 c89 I am reviewing some code and I have come across the following function. I have never seen a function declared like this before. There are no data types for the paraemeters. My best guess is that the function is using a list of data types separated by semi-colons. The return type seems to be returning a function with those parameters. However, the read function is not defined anywhere. What is the advantage and purpose of declaring a function like this? Many thanks for any advice, int my_read(fd, ptr, cnt) int fd; char *ptr; unsigned cnt; { printf("Read\n"); return(read(fd, ptr, cnt)); }

  • Use of Shl in assembly

    - by user3097712
    I have the following piece of lines and I do not understand that. Hope that someone can help me: ..... MOV EAX, DWORD PTR SS:[EBP-0x4] SHL EAX, 0x2 ADD EAX, DWORD PTR SS:[EBP-0x8] PUSH EAX .... Normally, it helps me to translate that into C language. But somehow I cant find a way to do it in that case. So, I only know that in the second line with SHL the register is multiplied by 4. And that the DWORD PTR SS:[EBP-0x4] looks like an array representation but i am not sure. I also find the following link x86 Assembler: shl and other instructions But I dont understand the answer there. So my question would be: What it is going on there? Thx...

  • Wine 1.2 crash after I start Mega 5.0

    - by Tomáš Šíma
    I installed Mega 5.0 by running "sudo sh MEGA5_Setup_deb_v2.sh" The application downloaded wine 1.2 as mega requires in order to work under Ubuntu. However every time I start the application through the icon provided, wine crashes asking me to send/save bug report, the problem is that if I choose to do so, megas starting window pops up covering the bug report window leaving me unable to do anything (as it won't move) The only solution I have come up with is to log out and log back in, as I cancels wine. I beg you following: Please post detailed step by step instructions how to deal with said problem Tell me if forceful log out, can damage computer of any of my data Please forgive me my weak English as it is not my native language. Also forgive me my weak skills concerning Ubuntu usage as I have me forced to switch to Ubuntu this very day. Thank you.

  • What to call objects that may delete cached data to meet memory constraints?

    - by Brent
    I'm developing some cross-platform software which is intended to run on mobile devices. Both iOS and Android provide low memory warnings. I plan to make a wrapper class that will free cached resources (like textures) when low memory warnings are issued (assuming the resource is not in use). If the resource returns to use, it'll re-cache it, etc... I'm trying to think of what this is called. In .Net, it's similar to a "weak reference" but that only really makes sense when dealing with garbage collection, and since I'm using c++ and shared_ptr, a weak reference already has a meaning which is distinct from the one I'm thinking of. There's also the difference that this class will be able to rebuild the cache when needed. What is this pattern/whatever is called? Edit: Feel free to recommend tags for this question.

  • Trying to figure out SDL pixel manipulation?

    - by NoobScratcher
    Hello so I've found code that plots a pixel in an SDL Screen Surface : void putpixels(int x, int y, int color) { unsigned int *ptr = (unsigned int*)Screen->pixels; int lineoffset = y * (Screen->pitch / 4 ); ptr[lineoffset + x ] = color; } But I have no idea what its actually doing here this is my thoughts. You make an unsigned integer to hold the unsigned int version of pixels then you make another integer to hold the line offset and it equals to multiply by pitch which is then divided by 4 ... Now why am I dividing it by 4 and what is the pitch and why do I multiply it?? Why must I change the lineoffset and add it to the x value then equal it to colors? I'm soo confused.. ;/ I found this function here - http://sol.gfxile.net/gp/ch02.html

  • How do I create a curved line or filled circle or generally a circle using C++/SDL?

    - by NoobScratcher
    Hello I've been trying for ages to make a pixel circle using the putpixel function provided by SDL main website here is that function : void putpixel(int x,int y , int color , SDL_Surface* surface) { unsigned int *ptr = static_cast <unsigned int *> (surface->pixels); int offset = y * (surface->pitch/sizeof(unsigned int)); ptr[offset + x] = color; } and my question is how do I curve a line or create an circle arc of pixels or any other curved shape then a rectangle or singular pixel or line. for example here are some pictures filled pixel circle below enter link description here now my idea was too change the x and y value of the pixel position using + and - to create the curves but in practice didn't provide the correct results what my results are in this is to be able to create a circle that is made out of pixels only nothing else. thank you for anyone who takes the time to read this question thanks! :D

  • What is upcasting/downcasting?

    - by acidzombie24
    When learning about polymorphism you commonly see something like this class Base { int prv_member; virtual void fn(){} } class Derived : Base { int more_data; virtual void fn(){} } What is upcasting or downcasting? Is (Derived*)base_ptr; an upcast or downcast? I call it upcast because you are going away from the base into something more specific. Other people told me it is a downcast because you are going down a hierarchy into something specific with the top being the root. But other people seem to call it what i call it. When converting a base ptr to a derived ptr is it called upcasting or downcasting? and if someone can link to an official source or explain why its called that than great.
