  • Shut down windows service based on load

    Hello, I was wondering if there are any free / open source solutions that will start and stop a windows service based on load? I have some pubsub subscriber services that do background work which is not critical. Ideally i would like tot be able to automate things so that these services could start if memory/cpu/disk i/o was under a certain threshold and stop gracefully if that threshold was met. Do you know of any solutions? Thanks JP

    Hi, I'm wondering why when i put an sql ADODB query in side a function it produces the following error: Fatal error: Call to a member function Execute() on a non-object in -path to script- My function is something like: $dsn = 'mysql://user:pass@localhost/db'; $db = ADONewConnection($dsn); function getem($q){ $r=$db->Execute($q); return $r->RecordCount(); } echo getem("select * from table"); Any ideas how to fix that?

  • is it possible to use iis 7 to manage users when using forms authentication

    I have a web application that is using forms authentication. Everything is configured and working correctly. However, i'm dealing with the issue of creating and maintaining users and role membership. I know that I can roll my own solution but I'm wondering if there is an alternative solution? Does iis7 provide screens for managing forms authentication users? Is there a reliable, free solution that someone would recommend? Thanks!

    I'm trying to adopt my development from Spring/Maven2/Tomcat -> Grails, and I'm wondering if there's an easy way to manage dependencies in grails separate from maven. Maven does a lot of the magic that grails is doing automatically (unit testing/building/etc.), so I wonder if there's a need for maven at all in grails projects. So, then, how do Grails users generally manage java dependencies? I've become accustomed to central repository dependency management, and I can't turn back at this point.

Before I release I'm wondering if I should include some sort of licensing information in the help page of my app. Are all iPhone apps that are downloaded through the App Store covered under some sort of Apple license, or do I need to provide my own license information?     I'm trying to pullout some info from an external site using jQuery and Adobe AIR. Right now I'm using a hidden div and jQuery's load function to load fragments of the external site, once the info is loaded I parse some info with selectors. This is fine but it's kinda dirty and I need to perform this several times (don't want to need many hidden divs). Just wondering if anybody knows a good webscrapper written in jQuery or maybe another method I'm missing

    hi I was wondering if it was possible to put balanced chemical equations, and if possible including state symbols, in the existing netlogo model that i am using, i havenot seen any examples in the models library so was not sure if it was possible. I wanted the model to be able to allow the user to input a balanced chemical equilibrium equation, or the model displays the the equation so then the user can select from them if they do not want to enter their own any help will be greatly appreciated thanks for example ethane + oxygen -- carbon dioxide + steam C2H6 + O2 -- CO2 + H2O

  • Is IE Collection reliable tool for testing with various versions of Internet Explorer?

    On my Windows machine -- I typically test different versions of Internet Explorer using an array of Virtual Machine instances (which obviously requires a fair amount of investment in time and money). In a pinch I have also used IETester -- which at times can be a little unreliable. However, I just discovered IE Collection and was wondering if people have used it -- and can I rely on it for web page testing purposes? Would love to know what you think.
