  I don't like real-time debugging much, but if it's necessary I'll do it. Is there any way to figure out what line of code a StackTrace in Objective-C refers to? What about the variable it refers to?   I'm trying to parse UTF-8 XML file and save some parts of it to another file. Problem is, that this is my first Python script ever and I'm totally confused about the character encoding problems I'm finding.   A tab-delimited text file, which is actually an export (using bcp) of a database table, is of that form: 102 1 01 e113c 3224.96 12 102 1 01 e185 101127.25 12 102 2 01 e185 176417.90 12 102A 3 01 e185 26261.03 12 I tried to import it in R with a command like data <- read.delim("C:\\test.txt", header = FALSE, sep = "\t") The problem is that the 3rd column which is actually a varchar field (alphanumeric) is mistakenly read as integer (as there are no letters in the entire column) and the leading zeros disappeared. The same thing happened when I imported the data directly from the database, using odbcConnect. Again that column was read as integer. str(data) $ code: int 1 1 1 1 1 1 6 1 1 8 ... How can I import such a dataset in R correctly, so as to be able to safely populate that db table again, after doing some data manipulations?

• Reading ASCII numbers using "D" instead of "E" for scientific notation using C

  Hello, I have a list of numbers which looks like this: 1.234D+1 or 1.234D-02. I want to read the file using C. The function atof will merely ignore the D and translate only the mantissa. The function fscanf will not accept the format '%10.6e' because it expects an E instead of a D in the exponent. When I ran into this problem in Python, I have up and merely used a string substitution before converting from string to float. But in C, I am sure there must be another way. So, how would you read a file with numbers using D instead of E for scientific notation? Notice that I do not mean how to read the strings themselves, but rather how to convert them to floats.   I am trying to read data from a bluetooth barcode scanner (KDC300) using C. Here is the code I have so far, and the program successfully establishes a bluetooth connection to the scanner, but when a barcode is scanned, no input is displayed on the screen (Eventually more will be done with the data, but we have to get it working first, right). • iPhone Options for reading item from XML?

  I am accessing this data from a web server using NSURL, what I am trying to decide is should I read this as XML or should I just use NSScanner and rip out the [data] bit I need. I have looked around the web for examples of extracting fields from XML on the iPhone but it all seems a bit overkill for what I need. Can anyone make any suggestions or point me in the right direction.   I am trying to read a file which is just a dbase file but without the standard extension the file is something like: Test.Dat I am using this block of code to try and read the file: string ConnectionString = @"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=C:\Temp;Extended Properties=dBase III"; OleDbConnection dBaseConnection = new OleDbConnection(ConnectionString); dBaseConnection.Open(); OleDbDataAdapter oDataAdapter = new OleDbDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM Test", ConnectionString); DataSet oDataSet = new DataSet(); oDataAdapter.Fill(oDataSet);//I get the error right here... DataTable oDataTable = oDataSet.Tables[0]; foreach (DataRow dr in oDataTable.Rows) { Console.WriteLine(dr["Name"]); } Of course this crashes because it can't find the dbase file called test, but if I rename the file to Test.dbf it works fine. I can't really rename the file all the time because a third party application uses it as its file format. Does anyone know a way to read a dbase file without a standard extension in C#. Thanks.

• Sudden issues reading uncompressed video using opencv

  I have been using a particular pipeline to process video using opencv to encode uncompressed video (fourcc = 0), and opencv python bindings to then open and work on these files. This has been working fine for me on OpenCV 2.3.1a on Ubuntu 11.10 until just a few days ago. For some reason it currently is only allowing me to read the first frame of a given file the first time I open that file. Further frames are not read, and once I touch the file once with my program, it then cannot even read the first frame. More detail: I created the uncompressed video files as follows: out_video.open(out_vid_name, 0, // FOURCC = 0 means record raw fps, Size(640, 480)) Again, these videos worked fine for me until about a week ago. Now, when I try to open one of these I get the following message (from what I think is ffmpeg): Processing video.avi Using network protocols without global network initialization. Please use avformat_network_init(), this will become mandatory later. [avi @ 0x29251e0] parser not found for codec rawvideo, packets or times may be invalid. It reads and displays the first frame fine, but then fails to read the next frame. Then, when I try to run my code on the same video, the capture still opens with the same message as above. However, it cannot even read the very first frame. Here is the code to open the capture: self.capture = cv2.VideoCapture(filename) if not self.capture.isOpened() print "Error: could not open capture" sys.exit() Again, this part is passed without any issue, but then the break happens at: success, rgb = self.capture.read() if not success: print "error: could not read frame" return False This part breaks at the second frame on the first run of the video file, and then on the first frame on subsequent runs. I really don't know where to even begin debugging this. Please help!

  Hi, We use a Flex AIR client and a WAMP server. Tiff images are stored in MySQL. Currently, I can download the image from AIR client and it prompts for a download dialog. Things are fine till this point. We got a new requirement. Requirement is that only some users can print the image which gets downloaded. For other users, they should not be able to print the tiff image. Wondering how to accomplish this. One idea, not sure if its efficient, is to convert the image requested to pdf at the server side, disable print option there(hope there are API's available) and send back the pdf. Please let me know btter ideas. Also, is there a way to prevent file download dialog from popping up everytime the file is requested for download? Can we just get the file stream to the client and manipulate it to open with a particular viewer or write it to pdf... Please help.

  I'm porting to Android. My existing project has a ton of resource files that I'm porting into my Android project. I have them all in /res/raw/, and I would like to access those resources in my native library with functions such as fopen() and such. Can this be done, or do I have to go through JNI for this as well? I would really prefer not to, for ease of porting and possible speed and memory reasons.

This is from a web app. I wonder what is the best way to do this because I occasionally get a FileNotFoundException exception if the same file is accessed at the same time.   Hi There, i am trying to read the RSS feed by loading it to xmldocument some thing like xmlTextReader = new XmlTextReader(url); XmlDocument xmlDoc = new XmlDocument(); xmlDoc.Load(xmlTextReader); some times the loading to xml document succeeds and some times it fails . the url i am using is http://rss.nzherald.co.nz/rss/xml/nzhrsscid%5F000000004.xml what could be the probelm, is it like the RSS is not updated properly..? any suggestions/comments Regards DEE

• Reading and parsing email from Gmail using C#, C++ or Python

  I have to do a Windows application that from times to times access a Gmail account and checks if there is a new email. In case there is, it must read the email body and subject (a simple text email, without images or attachments). Please, do not use paid libs, and in case of any other libs used, give the download path. And I need the email body and subject only. So if the long and complex message that comes from Gmail could be parsed and only two strings containing the subject and the body, it would be perfect. Finally, I only have to get the new messages arrived since the last execution. So the read messages could be marked as "read" and only the new ones (marked as "new") are considered. The code can be written in Python or C++, but I prefer it in C#. Thank you for the help.

• how to tile 3D mesh with image brush in XAML

  I have a 2D square in a ViewPort3D that I want to do a tiling of an image (like a checkerboard or flooring with "tiles" effect). I've created an image brush (the image is 50x50 pixels, the surface 250x550 pixels) and a viewport (trying to follow MS's site - though their example is for 2D), but only 1 of the colors in the "tile" image shows up and no tiling is seen.
