  • Are there any solutions for translating measurement units on Rails?

    I'd like to implement measurement unit preferences in a Ruby on Rails app. For instance, the user should be able to select between displaying distances in miles or in kilometers. And, obviously, not only displaying, but entering values, too. I suppose all values should be stored in one global measurement system to simplify calculations. Are there any drop-in solutions for this? Or should I maybe write my own?

  • ASP.NET MVC validation in weakly typed views

    Hello. I have a problem validating data on view that is not strongly typed. I'm updating data from 3 different models on that view, and I have validation methods that work on them, but I don't know how to display the validation message. Where should I put validation messages (on strongly typed views I put them in ModelState, I presume that does not make sense in this case), and how should I display them (I doubt that I will be able to use "validationmessagefor", maybe "validationmessage" somehow)?

    I want to write a module on one html site - I will never leave the site I think about two possible concurrent basic approaches: We go into the module by use only a specific function (with specific params - everything which will happen, happen there - logic, exception handling etc) We go in by using one handler-fct, which manages some kind of action & a dataArray (depending on the action also fcts will be called - but not directly maybe for exception handling) So what you prefer?!

  • Passing a DataTable into a Stored Procedure. Is there a better way?

    Can A datatable somehow be passed into SQL Server 2005 or 2008 ? I know the standard way seesm to be passing XML to a SP. And a datatable can easily be converted to XML somehow to do that. What about passing a .NET object into a SP ? Is that possible ? I remember hearing about SQL and CLR working together in 2008 somehow but I never understood.. Maybe that means you can refer to .NET objects within a Stored Procedure ?

    Hi all, I'm aware of the Argotic framework for .Net that assists in the collation and management of Atom data, but does anybody know of a .Net application/framework that implements the Atom Publishing Protocol (APP)? Creating a .Net APP server from scratch seems a daunting task, even if it 'stands on the shoulders' of Argotic. Maybe a .Net rewrite of Apache Abdera (or other O/S implementation) would be easier. Apparently this can be done with javascript but I have never used javascript before so I'm a bit lost. I know I need a Twitter API but not sure even how to use one.     If I have three targets, one "all", one "compile" and one "jsps", how would I make "all" depend on the other two Would it be <target name="all" depends="compile,jsps"> or would it be <target name="all" depends="compile","jsps"> Or maybe something even different? I tried searching for example ant scripts to base it off of, but I couldn't find one with multiple depends. Thanks!

How can I parse this binary string? Or maybe there is a better way to send matrix from PHP to Silverlight?

    I am trying to move a WordPress installation from one server to another one, including all of the SQL data, and the file-system data (photos,template files). I just have a problem changing the URLs in the database, since I need to replace the new URL with the old one.   • How do I preserve installed applications when migrating Ubuntu to another platform?

    I'm looking at maybe moving from an older AMD64 to a new Intel dual-core which is 32 bit. Installation isn't a problem but can I transfer all the installed apps? I haven't been able to find anything so far on Google except where the migration is to a similar platform and file-system. I won't change the filesystem but the platform will be different. Is there something on the lines of the "World" file in Gentoo?

    I would like to rewrite dynamic URL /index.php?pid=login&redirect=/previous-page.html to something like this /login.html-r-previous-page.html I tried this RewriteRule ^login.html-r-(.*)$ /index.php?pid=login&redirect=$1 [L] But no succes. I was also trying to change the regex to .+ or some other forms, but it seems useless. Maybe I am making mistake somewhere else. I am new to regular expressions and also mod_rewrite.
