  I have a GPS device, and I am receiving continuous points, which I store in an array. These points are time stamped. I would like to graph distance/time (speed) vs. distance in real-time; however, I can only plot 50 of the points because of hardware constraints. How would you select points from the array to graph? For example, one algorithm might be to select every Nth point from the array, where N results in 50 points total.   The way that Ubuntu handles documents on the iPad is awesome (without any configuration required). It beats windows, even after you install iTunes. I want to have the documents in certain iPad apps automatically synced into my Dropbox directory whenever the iPad is connected by USB. The syncing is easy; getting the script to run is not. I have already read the information in various (very out-of-date) tutorials. The best I could find was here: http://askubuntu.com/a/25091/16157 I used lsusb, with the following results: Bus 002 Device 012: ID 05ac:12a2 Apple, Inc. (Please note that when an iPad is connected, Ubuntu seems to mount it to two different mount points: one for "Documents" and one for the whole iPad filesystem. • Real life usage of the projective plane theory

  I'm learning about the theory of the projective plane. Very generally speaking, it is an extension of the plane, which includes additional points which are defined as the intersection points of two parallel lines. In the projective plane, every two lines have an interesection point. Whether they're parallel or not. Every point in the projective plane can be represented by three numbers (you actually need less than that, but nevemind now). Is there any real life application which uses the projective plane? I can think that, for instance, a software which needs to find the intersections of a line, can benefit from always having an intersection point which might lead to simpler code, but is it really used?

  A friend of mine was asked the following question today at interview for the position of software developer. Given two string s1 and s2 how will you check if s1 is a rotated version of s2 ? Example: if s1 = "stackoverflow"; then the following are some of its rotated versions: "tackoverflows" "ackoverflowst" "overflowstack" where as "stackoverflwo" is not a rotated version. The answer he gave was: Take s2 and find the logest prefix that is a substring of s1, that will give you the point of rotation. Once you find that point, break s2 at that point to get s2a and s2b, then just check if concatenate(s2a,s2b) == s1 It looks like a good solution to me and my friend. But the interviewr though otherwise. He asked for a simpler solution. Please help me by telling how would you do this in Java/C/C++ ? Thanks in advance.

  What is Google map's spatial reference system using when you enter a lat, long into the maps search bar? I've found hints that it might be WGS84 but after converting to that coordinate system, nothing shows up when i paste the coordinates into the google maps search box. I am converting from GDA MGA 56.   To customize the visual look of a UISlider you can set the thumb and track images. Part of the track images gets stretched to the appropriate with. From the documentation: A stretchable region sits between two end cap regions. The end caps define the portions of the image that remain as is and are not stretched. The stretchable region is a 1-point wide area between the end caps that can be replicated to make the image appear longer. Now the problem I have is that my stretchable region needs to be more than 1-point wide. (It's a pattern) Unfortunately the 1-point width seems to be hard coded in the SDK. Anyone having an idea how to work around this? Or will I have to write my own slider from scratch for this?

  I have just finished moving my development server into a Ubuntu 10.04 Server VM in VMWare Fusion 3. I have all of my mysql and tomcat stuff running and am now trying to connect to my actual site files which are stored on my mac under /{User Root}/Workspace/ColdFusion/. I know that normally you should be able to setup a shared folder in VMWare and find it under /mnt/hgfs/{Share Name}, but I can't find it. I am not sure if I have to manually mount it or what.

  How can you make the .xla file if you want to create your own xla? I have the code, classes, shapes, etc....what is the process to making an xla file to point to? I know that I have to put it in my program files folder, and then go through the steps to adding an "add-in" in xls...but i mean actually saving an xla file to point to.... can i simply write all this in xls and then save it as file type xla?? because i have tried to do that but I get an error that it is not a valid add in when I am in a spreadsheet trying to point to it? thanks!

  My system: Dell Precision T3500 nVidia Quadro NVS 295 Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64 (3.2.0-32) Essential problem: On boot my system won't get past the splash screen. I can switch to another virtual terminal and log in, I can also ssh from another system -- so it appears that the problem might be with the display manager. How can I diagnose and fix this problem? More info: From a VT I can issue sudo lightdm restart, and this will bring up the login screen and and I can continue from there. So I do have access to my system. • Where are the really high quality and complex Swing components?

  Looking at Swing, I have the feeling that it comes with many useful and reasonable atomic components in its core. And when I look at the Web there are hundrets of quickly plugged together components (among them many date/time pickers, pimped lists and tables), which have in common that I could easily write them on my own, if I needed them. When I build big software and come to the point where I need a domain-specific component which is really big, I mostly come to the point where I have to write it on my own, which, due to the point that they are not just plugged together lists and tables, isn't done qickly. So, the question is, why are there no Swing component galleries which contain more than just customized date/time pickers or lists with added tree support. Where are the components which really raise the level of abstraction, or are in best case domain-specific?

• Can't sync music on Nexus 4 with rhythmbox

  My LG Nexus 4 phone running Andriod 4.4.3 will not sync music with rhythmbox, banshee, or clementine with my laptop running Ubuntu 14.04. When attached via USB2 or USB3 I can mount the file system on the phone without issue and can manually transfer files but attempting to sync my nexus with any of the three music players I listed causes them to crash. I realize it is probably some mtp issue. But I cannot figure out why the music players cannot connect to my nexus and nautilus has no problem doing so.

• Netbean Cannot update Google App Engine server to appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2

  I am using Netbean 6.7.1 I just update my google app engine plugin in netbean with Netbean auto update. I found out there is new app engine SDK. So i want to update my google app engine server to point to appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2 After I download appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2.zip. I unzip it. Then at Netbean: I already have a Google App Engine server under Services - Server. I can't find anyway to point it to the newly installed sdk folder. So I deleted the existing "Google App Engine" server & try to add a new one. Server - Add Server - Google App Engine - at "Installation Location", I point it to google app engine folder, which is "C:\appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2", it show this message at bottom "C:\appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2" & don't allow me to continue. May I know how to solve this? thanks!

• RAID 10 not being found by installer

  I had ubuntu installed with raid 0 enabled. I have added 2 more disks went into the bios deleted and created a new raid setup using raid 10 (total of 4 disks now). However during install of ubuntu server it asks if it should activate the RAID Sata disks, I tell it yes. Next step shows up blank for available disks when determining where to mount the root etc. Anyone have a clue as to why this would be?

• How do I map a texture onto a Octahedron?

  I'm about to go mad. I cant for the life of me figure out texture coords. I have a Octahedron defined by the 8 triangles below. I want to map a texture of the earth on it.   I have two models Category and Point. The associations are defined as: Category hasMany Point Point belongsTo Category I would like, when adding Points to my database, to be able to select the category it belongs to from a <select> box, along with the rest of the form data. Where would i need to set the category list and how could i do it? And how would i produce the select box? I assume it could be done with $form->input('categorieslist',array('type'=>'select')); //categorieslist needs //setting somewhere. But i am fairly new to Cake and not done much with associations before. Thanks.

• Live-Ubuntu 12.04 ran fine, now stopped booting!

  I've seen similar problems to this several times in the forum, but mine is a bit different, so the other posts I saw were no help to me. When I boot Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit from live-SD-card (3GB persistence) I suddenly get this error: (initramfs) mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on //filesystem.squashfs failed: Invalid argument Can not mount /dev/loop/0 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs (it says I can type "help" for commands, but I don't know anything about how to go from there, totally new to linux) The reason I say my case is different is because my Ubuntu worked fine for over a week, even pretty fast, and now this problem happened. Before that I used to run my live ubuntu from USB sticks but that was slower (especially when booting which took 15 minutes from USB stick!). Also I kept getting the same above problem after a while when booting and had to re-create a live USB linux several times. Installing on harddrive is not an option because my harddrive has physical damage and getting a replacement will take a while, therefore I can only use live-USB or live-SD-card Ubuntu. As I said I used Ubuntu without problems for more than a week, before that as well for several weeks on USB sticks, but the above problem occured sooner or later. This time I paid attention to when it happened: I was rebooting my computer (HP 620 laptop, 4 GB RAM, 64 bit system) from SD flash card and when I was booting I selected F6 and then the first option "no acpi" or something like that...I had used it before and noticed it slowed down the time it took Linux to use. This time it caused this error. Now even when I boot normally/default I get this error. Now I'm accessing Ubuntu from my USB stick without persistence file, when I check my SD card, all the files mentioned in the error message are there and the filesystem.squashfs is 691.2 MB so nothing seems to have been deleted by accident. (I have already made many changes/downloaded programs to my SD card persistent Ubuntu and would hope to loose them, since downloading is expensive for me, and since the problem seems to re-occur...) Can anyone help me, preferably without having to create another startup disk on my SD card? I'm totally new to this. Sorry for the long posts, just didn't know what info is relevant and what isnt! My customers typically don't have network access and, in fact, can't connect to any network until they have "Authority to connect."  It's useful, however, to build up a Solaris 11 system with additional software using the new Image Packaging System and locally stored repository. The Solaris 11 documentation describes how to create a locally stored repository with full explanations of what the commands do. I'm simply providing the quick and dirty steps.  The easiest way is to download the ISO image, burn to a DVD and insert into your DVD drive.  Then as root: pkg set-publisher -G '*' -g file:///cdrom/sol11repo_full/repo solaris Now you can to install software using the GUI package manager or the pkg commands.  If you would like something more permanent (or don't have a DVD drive), however, it takes a little more work. After installing Solaris 11, download (on another system perhaps) the two files that make up the Solaris 11 repository from our download site Sneaker-net the files to your Solaris 11 system Unzip and cat the two files together to create one large ISO image. The file is about 6.9 GB in size zfs create rpool/export/repoSolaris11 zfs set atime=off rpool/export/repoSolaris11 zfs set compression=on rpool/export/repoSolaris11 (save some space) lofiadm -a sol-11-1111-repo-full.iso /dev/lofi/1 mount -F hsfs /dev/lofi/1 /mnt You could stop here and set the publisher to point to the /mnt/repo location, however, this mount will not be persistent across reboots. Copy the repository from the mounted ISO image to a permanent, on disk location. rsync -aP /mnt/repo /export/repoSolaris11 pkgrepo -s /export/repoSolaris11 refresh pkg set-publisher -G '*' -g /export/repoSolaris11/repo solaris You now have a locally installed repository for adding additional software packages for Solaris 11.  The documentation also takes you through publishing your repository on the network so that others can access it.

  hi all. i have a System.Drawing.Point[] filled with some System.Drawing.Point's. so when i want to draw this points as a polygon in a System.Windows.Form instance , the final drawn polygon is not all in the screen or sometimes is very small (in screen shown as 2-3 pixel). i wonder if there is some Library that using that i can just send Point[] to that and thatself scales and ... points and draws polygon manner that all points shown in screen and they are scaled to fit the screen (i mean small objects that shown as 2-3 pixel scale up to fit entire screen); thaks all and sorry for my bad english...
