• Dual monitors and flash movie to stay maximized on one of them.

  I have recently assembled a dual monitor setup. I often watch live.twit.tv in my browser and I would like to run it maximized while I do other stuff on second screen, but when I click on a desktop the full screen mode rolls back to normal view. The same case is for different Flash players and I believe Silverlight players suffer from the same problem. Is there any way to bypass this behavior?

  Using the firefox extension tamper data (for modifing http requests that firefox makes) how do I insert a null character into a post field? I can enter normal characters, but binary characters in it are not urlencoded and are shown as is, so how do I enter the null character into a field? If you know of a firefox extension like tamper data that I can do this or a way to do this using tamper data please post.

• CNTLM issue with intranet (maybe DNS)

  On my Linux box I need to use an ISA proxy that requires authentication to reach the internet. I therefore installed CNTLM and configured it to point to the proxy address and listen on port 4321. I then configured my GNOME distribution to use localhost:4321 as global proxy for HTTP and HTTPS. The result: I can connect to the internet. I can ping intranet IPs, I do receive name resolution for intranet sites, yet I cannot ping them or open any intranet site in a browser (configured to use the distributions proxy) unless I use the site's IP address. I tried blocking the intranet IP range in the CNTLM config file without luck.

• How do I remove initial indents on numbered lists?

  In Word 2007 I want all numbers in a numbered list to be down the LH margin in line with the paragraphs. When a numbered list is selected, the numbers 1,2,3 are indented by a default 0.63cm. Ctrl-Shift-M will shift this indent back to the left margin. How do I permanently remove that initial indent and save that change to the normal template so that all new documents have zero indent on a newly inserted numbered list? (Same issue in Word 2010)

• How do I send traffic to specific IP addresses through VPN and others directly to the internet?

  I am running Windows 7 and using the Cisco VPN adapter to connect to a private network where I access resources starting with the IP address 172.. My problem is that when connected to the VPN all external traffic is routed through the VPN. I want to set things up so only certain IP addresses go through the VPN and everything else goes out over the local adapter and out to the internet as normal. How?

I'm particularly concerned that, after installing MacPorts, it installed a bunch of junk in /opt. I don't think that directory even exists in a normal Mac OS X install. • Linking FreeNAS Boxes

  I have two different FreeNAS boxes that are being used for storage. It is possible to link them in a manner that the linked connection can be presented as a single storage destination for clients? For example, I have one FreeNAS installation that has 6 TB of storage and another one that has 4 TB of storage. I would like to be able to present or have a single mapped drive for clients that would be able to span across both of them; however, the client would only see it as one drive. Is this possible? If not, is there a different way I should be approaching this problem? Is there a different OS distribution that would work better for this?

  I am looking at the following two drives for a RAID device, which will be streaming normal things but also a lot of video: Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST4000NM0033 - hard drive - 4 TB - SATA-600 TOSHIBA DT01ACA300 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Will the 128 MB cache on the Seagate have an effect in my described scenario, compared to the 64 MB on the Toshiba? If so, what sort of difference can I expect? I'm using a qnap device, if that matters.

• Linux and GeForce 8400 dual monitor

  I'm trying to install a linux distribution on my PC. I have a GeForce 8400 GS with two connected monitors. I tried with Fedora 12 and Ubuntu 9.10 (both 64 and 32 bit) and the live cd cannot boot properly. I don't get a visible error on Ubuntu, it simply hangs up during the boot. With Fedora I get this error: [drm] Modeset on unsupported output type [drm] Table 0x0000 not found for 1/1 using first I tried to disconnect one of the two monitor and was able to install on my HD and boot from there, but if I try to connect the second monitor again I cannot boot. Do I need to install something else? (a driver for my video card for example).

• PHP 5.2.11: Unable to load dynamic library complaints

  I installed PHP 5.2.11 and upon enabling the php_mssql.dll module (and the obligatory restart of the services) started receiving warnings about not being able to load the dynamic library. The operating environment is IIS ISAPI under Windows 2003 R2. Here is the list of things that were checked File Exists in \PHP\ext directory and has the same timestamp as the other distribution delivered libraries. Permissions are correct to the file. Other extensions are enabled and functioning with identical permissions. ntwdblib.dll has been copied from a SQL Server 2005 installation (per php.net's requirements for the module) Other modules before and after the php_mssql entry are working. I've also stripped down and remove all non-essential references with detectable improvements. I turned up logging and enabled all the error logs in the php.ini, nothing is generated by the logs. Searching Google has turned up a slew of closed/unsolved bug reports on php.net and some miscellaneous near-matches, none of which have really addressed the problem or lead to any inspirations.

• Monitoring HP and Dell hardware in Gentoo.

  I'm working in an environment that features a large number of Gentoo servers running on HP ProLiant and Dell PowerEdge equipment. While I've moved some of these systems to RedHat or CentOS for consistency, I'm still left with a good number of systems that will remain Gentoo. One of the issues I see with the Gentoo arrangement is lack of vendor-supported hardware monitoring. There doesn't seem to be an equivalent to the HP ProLiant Support Pack or Dell's agents for Gentoo. Is this simply something that you give up when using this distribution? How do you monitor hardware health and the like with Gentoo systems?

• Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - Dual monitor works only sometimes (ATI multi-desktop)

  I've been using my laptop with an external LCD monitor attached to it at work (Philips 201E). And at home with a different external monitor (Samsung 2032BW). I have an ATI graphics card (HD3450), with Ati Catalyst drivers enabled and I'm using the Single display desktop (Multi-Desktop) seeting. At work I have the external monitor on the left and laptop on the right, while at home the other way around. So when I switch between the two setups, I just needed to go to Ati Catalyst Control Center, change the order of the displays, change the resolution (Home - 1680x1050, Work - 1440x900), reboot and it was all fine. But since a while it doesn't work properly anymore: At home it still works fine. At work it doesn't work. Sometimes it works for some reason, after a few resolution/setting changes in ACCC and reboots... it's very strange and annoying. With the home monitor I can see the whole bootup process on both monitors (laptop + LCD) and it always just works fine. With the work monitor on the external LCD monitor I just see "No video input" until I get to the login screen, then it shows up there as well. But after login it will either: Flicker a few times, but then work OK. Or (more often) Flicker once and then go back to "No video input" again. I usually end up rebooting a few times until it works. Does anyone have any idea for fixing it? • Enabling printing feature within the Terminal Server environment that is published to the internet?

  I got the home and remote office users connect to the Terminal Server on my Windows Server 2003 that I published securely through Juniper SSL VPN client applet, they use normal internet connection to access the link which pop up the Terminal Server Remote Desktop application, so my question is, how can they print out the document from within their terminal server session ? if it is going through the internal office LAN mapping the printer through Remote Desktop connection is the solution but not for this one. • What is reverse DNS?

  *.in-addr.arpa domains: lot of requests in my OpenDNS account. I know this should be normal and it's about reverse DNS. I've been reading here and there but still I can't really get how it works and why I get so much requests (higher number than www.google.com). I'd just need someone that, like Einstein suggested, could explain to me what this reverse dns is used for like he would explain it to his grandmother :) Thanks a lot!
