  • Accessing Attributes in a Many-to-Many

    - by tshauck
    Hi, I have a rails app and I'd like to be able to do something like task.labels.first.label_name to get the label name of a task. However, I get an undefined method label_name. I did a t = Task.first; t.labels.first.label_name in the console, and that worked so I'm not sure what's going on. Here's the models then the locations of the error: class Categorization < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :label belongs_to :task end class Label < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :label_name has_many :categorizations has_many :tasks, :through => :categorizations end class Task < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :task has_many :categorizations has_many :labels, :through => :categorizations end The error is in the index <% for task in @tasks %> <tr> <td><%= task.task %></td> <td><%= task.labels.first.label_name %></td> <td><%= link_to "Show", task %></td> <td><%= link_to "Edit", edit_task_path(task) %></td> <td><%= link_to "Destroy", task, :confirm => 'Are you sure?', :method => :delete %></td> </tr> <% end %

  • problem on ajax call

    - by praveen
    hi i am using mootools ajax request in my project. its works properly but when i make request for it aborted first time and second time request mad. consequently abortion of request increase by one at each click. my code is following function addStepConfiguration(id,mystrip,comment,error,submitid) { // alert(id+'\n'+mystrip+'\n'+comment+'\n'+error+'\n'+submitid.value); $(id).addEvent('submit', function(e) { e.stop(); this.set('send', { onRequest:function(html){ $(submitid).setStyle('display','none'); loading_Img(); }, onComplete: function(responseText) { $('loading_img').innerHTML = ''; SplittedResText = responseText.split("|"); s //alert(SplittedResText); if(SplittedResText[1]=='undefined') { $(error).innerHTML=SplittedResText[0]; $(submitid).setStyle('display','block'); } else { $(comment).innerHTML=SplittedResText[0]; $(mystrip).set('class',SplittedResText[1]); //$(image).setProperty('src',SplittedResText[2]); removeMsg.delay(20,'',error); removeMsg.delay(3000,'',comment); $(submitid).setStyle('display','block'); } } }); this.send(); }); }

  • Need help with creating complex UITableView items (like the Settings app).

    - by Craig
    I hoping to create a custom Settings view, similar to the Settings application, but with more control over the UI and access to some settings (i need to lock some of the settings). Obvously, there are a variety of UI elements mixed in each row of application's UITableView. For example, the 'Airplane Mode' setting shows a UISwitch, while the 'Wi-Fi' setting has a text value adjacent to the disclosure symbol (''). Further complicating matters, is the grouping of these settings. I have some general questions about the approach I should take: Seems like i need to save the name of the setting, its current value, its grouping, and the type of UI element(s) needed to modify its value. i would like to make use [NSUserDefault standardUserDefaults], but not have these settings appear in the Settings application. I'm guessing that I will need to create my own settings-persistence class. is it better to build each one of these complex UI-element combinations in code or to create a series of custom views based on the UITableViewCell and load the appropriate one? i'm guessing the latter. some of the setting require that i load another view to select its value. assuming that the application is based on the Utility pattern, should the SettingsView manage the navigation stack, rather than having the app delegate do so? Thanks for your time and comments. Craig Buchanan

  • Javascript Error with DataTable jQuery plugin

    - by stevoyoung
    I am getting a JS error and what to know what it means and how to solve it. (JS noob here) Error: "tId is not defined" Line of JS with error: "if (s[i].sInstance = tId) { " More Information I am using the Data Table (http://datatables.net) jQuery plugin. I have a two tables with a class of "dataTable" loaded on a page (inside of jQuery UI tabs). The tables render as expected but I get the error above in Firebug. Attached is my Data Table config file... $(document).ready(function() { //Take from: http://datatables.net/forums/comments.php?DiscussionID=1507 // before creating a table, make sure it is not already created. // And if it is, then remove old version before new one is created var currTable = $(".dataTable"); if (currTable) { // contains the dataTables master records var s = $(document).dataTableSettings; if (s != 'undefined') { var len = s.length; for (var i=0; i < len; i++) { // if already exists, remove from the array if (s[i].sInstance = tId) { s.splice(i,1); } } } } oTable = $('.dataTable').dataTable({ "bJQueryUI": true, "sPaginationType": "full_numbers", "bFilter": false }); }); What does the error mean and how do I resolve it?

  • Mathematical annotations in a PDF file

    - by kvaruni
    I like to annotate papers I read in a digital way. Numerous programs exist to help in this process. For example, on OS X one can use programs such as Skim or even Preview. However, making annotations is dreadful when one wishes to add mathematical annotations, such as formulas or greek letters. A cumbersome "solution" is to select the desired symbol one by one using the Special Characters palette, though this considerably slows down the annotation process. Is there any way to add mathematical annotations to a PDF? The only two limitations that I would impose on a solution is that 1) the mathematical text needs to be selectable, i.e. it must be text and 2) I want to limit the number of programs I need to make the process as painless as possible. Some of the more promising solutions I have tried include generating LaTeX with LaTeXiT, but it seems to be impossible to add a PDF on top of another PDF. Another attempt was to use jsMath to generate the symbols and copy-paste these as annotation using one of the jsMath fonts. This results in unreadable, incorrect characters.

  • Inconsistent get_class_methods vs method_exists when using UTF8 characters in PHP code

    - by coma
    I have this class in a UTF-8 encoded file called EnUTF8.Class.php: class EnUTF8 { public function ñññ() { return 'ñññ()'; } } and in another UTF-8 encoded file: require_once('EnUTF8.Class.php'); require_once('OneBuggy.Class.php'); $utf8 = new EnUTF8(); //$buggy = new OneBuggy(); echo (method_exists($utf8, 'ñññ')) ? 'ñññ() exists!' : 'ñññ() does not exist...'; echo "\n\n----------------------------------\n\n" print_r(get_class_methods($utf8)); echo "\n----------------------------------\n\n" echo $utf8->ñññ(); that produces the expected result: ñññ() exists! ---------------------------------- Array ( [0] => ñññ ) ---------------------------------- ñññ() but if... require_once('EnUTF8.Class.php'); require_once('OneBuggy.Class.php'); $utf8 = new EnUTF8(); $buggy = new OneBuggy(); echo (method_exists($utf8, 'ñññ')) ? 'ñññ() exists!' : 'ñññ() does not exist...'; echo "\n\n----------------------------------\n\n" print_r(get_class_methods($utf8)); echo "\n----------------------------------\n\n" echo $utf8->ñññ(); then the weirdness appears!!!: ñññ() does not exist! ---------------------------------- Array ( [0] => ñññ ) ---------------------------------- Fatal error: Call to undefined method EnUTF8::ñññ() in /var/www/test.php on line 16 Well, the thing is that OneBuggy.Class.php is UTF-8 encoded too and shares absolutly nothing with EnUTF8.Class.php so... where is the bug? UPDATED: Well, after a long debugging time I found this in OneBuggy.Class.php constructor: setlocale (LC_ALL, "es_ES@euro", "es_ES", "esp"); so I did... //setlocale (LC_ALL, "es_ES@euro", "es_ES", "esp"); and now it works but why?.

  • Rendering LaTeX on third-party websites

    - by A. Rex
    There are some sites on the web that render LaTeX into some more readable form, such as Wikipedia, some Wordpress blogs, and MathOverflow. They may use images, MathML, jsMath, or something like that. There are other sites on the web where LaTeX appears inline and is not rendered, such as the arXiv, various math forums, or my email. In fact, it is quite common to see an arXiv paper's abstract with raw LaTeX in it, e.g. this paper. Is there a plugin available for Firefox, or would it be possible to write one, that renders LaTeX within pages that do not provide a rendering mechanism themselves? Some notes: It may be impossible to render some of the code, because authors often copy-paste code directly from their source TeX files, which may contain things like "\cite{foo}" or undefined commands. These should be left alone. This question is a repost of a question from MathOverflow that was closed for not being related to math. I program a lot, but Javascript is not my specialty, so comments along the lines of "look at this library" are not particularly helpful to me (but may be to others).

  • Basic jUnit Questions

    - by Epitaph
    I was testing a String multiplier class with a multiply() method that takes 2 numbers as inputs (as String) and returns the result number (as String) `public String multiply(String num1, String num2); I have done the implementation and created a test class with the following test cases involving the input String parameter as 1) valid numbers 2) characters 3) special symbol 4) empty string 5) Null value 6) 0 7) Negative number 8) float 9) Boundary values 10) Numbers that are valid but their product is out of range 11) numbers will + sign (+23) 1) I'd like to know if "each and every" assertEquals() should be in it's own test method? Or, can I group similar test cases like testInvalidArguments() to contains all asserts involving invalid characters since ALL of them throw the same NumberFormatException ? 2) If testing an input value like character ("a"), do I need to include test cases for ALL scenarios? "a" as the first argument "a" as the second argument "a" and "b" as the 2 arguments 3) As per my understanding, the benefit of these unit tests is to find out the cases where the input from a user might fail and result in an exception. And, then we can give the user with a meaningful message (asking them to provide valid input) instead of an exception. Is that the correct? And, is it the only benefit? 4) Are the 11 test cases mentioned above sufficient? Did I miss something? Did I overdo? When is enough? 5) Following from the above point, have I successfully tested the multiply() method?

  • Two classes and inline functions

    - by klew
    I have two classes and both of them uses some of the other class, on example: // class1.h class Class1; #include "class2.h" class Class1 { public: static Class2 *C2; ... }; // class2.h class Class2; #include "class1.h" class Class2 { public: static Class1 *C1; ... }; And when I define it like in example above, it works (I also have some #ifndef to avoid infinite header recurency). But I also want to add some inline functions to my classes. And I read here that I should put definition of inline function in header file, because it won't work if I'll put them in cpp file and want to call them from other cpp file (when I do it I get undefined reference during linking). But the problem here is with something like this: // class1.h ... inline void Class1::Foo() { C2->Bar(); } I get error: invalid use of incomplete type ‘struct Class2’. So how can I do it?

  • Where's the Win32 resource for the mouse cursor for dragging splitters?

    - by Luther Baker
    I am building a custom win32 control/widget and would like to change the cursor to a horizontal "splitter" symbol when hovering over a particular vertical line in the control. IE: I want to drag this vertical line (splitter bar) left and right (WEST and EAST). Of the the system cursors (OCR_*), the only cursor that makes sense is the OCR_SIZEWE. Unfortunately, that is the big, awkward cursor the system uses when resizing a window. Instead, I am looking for the cursor that is about 20 pixels tall and around 3 or 4 pixel wide with two small arrows pointing left and right. I can easily draw this and include it as a resource in my application but the cursor itself is so prevalent that I wanted to be sure it wasn't missing something. For example: when you use the COM drag and drop mechanism (CLSID_DragDropHelper, IDropTarget, etc) you implicitly have access to the "drag" icon (little box under the pointer). I didn't see an explicit OCR_* constant for this guy ... so likewise, if I can't find this splitter cursor outright, I am wondering if it is part of a COM object or something else in the win32 lib.

  • how to implement intel's tbb::blocked_range2d in C++

    - by Hristo
    I'm trying to parallelize nested for loops with parellel_for() and the blocked_range2d from Intel's TBB using C++. The for loops look like this: for(int i = 0; i < N; ++i) { for(int j = 0; j < E[i]; ++j) { for(int k = 0; k < T; ++k) { score[k] += delta(i, trRating[k][i], exRating[j][i]); } } } ... and I am trying to do the following: class LoopBody { private: int *myscore; public: LoopBody(int *score) { myscore = score; } void operator()(const blocked_range2d<int> &r) const { for(int i = r.rows().begin(); i != r.rows().end(); ++i); for(int j = 0; j < E[i]; ++j) { for(int k = r.cols().begin(); k != r.cols().end(); ++k) { myscore[k] += foo(...); // uses i,j,k to look up indices in arrays } } } } }; void computeScores(int score[]) { parallel_for(blocked_range2d<int>(0, N, 0, T), LoopBody(score)); } ... but I am getting the following compile errors: error: identifier "i" is undefined for(int j = 0; j < E[i]; ++j) { ^ error: expected an identifier }; ^ I'm not really sure if I am doing this the right way, but any advice is appreciated. Also, this is my first time using Intel's TBB so I really don't know anything about it. Any ideas how make this work? Thanks, Hristo

  • Perl Imager::Screenshot not doing screenshot with default parameters

    - by Grigor

Why would the left, right, top and bottom values matter here?

  • has_many, belongs_to and comment forms

    - by Koning Baard XIV
    I'm having two models: Snippet and SnippetComment. These also have their own controllers, as well as views. In /app/views/snippets/show.html.erb I have a form that starts like this: <% form_for(@new_snippet_comment) do |form| %> SnippetComment belongs to one Snippet, and a Snippet belongs to one User. This means that I have this routing: map.resources :users do |user| user.resources :snippets do |snippet| snippet.resources :snippet_comments, :as => "comments" end end So when I submit the SnippetComment form in the SnippetController#show view, this request should be made: POST /users/x/snippets/x/comments HTTP/1.1 (where x is the User's or Snippet's id). The problem is that I don't even get the comment submission form, but rahter this: NoMethodError in Snippets#show Showing app/views/snippets/show.html.erb where line #29 raised: undefined method `snippet_comments_path' for Extracted source (around line #29): 26: <% if current_user %> 27: <h2>Schrijf een nieuwe reactie</h2> 28: 29: <% form_for(@new_snippet_comment) do |form| %> 30: 31: <p> 32: <%= form.text_area :body %> RAILS_ROOT: /Users/jeffatwood/Dev/youjustdontneedmyrealname Application Trace | Framework Trace | Full Trace /Users/jeffatwood/.gem/ruby/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.5/lib/action_controller/polymorphic_routes.rb:107:in `__send__' /Users/jeffatwood/.gem/ruby/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.5/lib/action_controller/polymorphic_routes.rb:107:in `polymorphic_url' /Users/jeffatwood/.gem/ruby/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.5/lib/action_controller/polymorphic_routes.rb:114:in `polymorphic_path' /Users/jeffatwood/.gem/ruby/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.5/lib/action_view/helpers/form_helper.rb:298:in `apply_form_for_options!' /Users/jeffatwood/.gem/ruby/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.5/lib/action_view/helpers/form_helper.rb:277:in `form_for' /Users/jeffatwood/Dev/youjustdontneedmyrealname/app/views/snippets/show.html.erb:29:in `_run_erb_app47views47snippets47show46html46erb' /Users/jeffatwood/Dev/youjustdontneedmyrealname/app/controllers/snippets_controller.rb:19:in `show' Request Parameters: {"id"=>"1", "user_id"=>"2"} Show session dump Response Headers: {"Content-Type"=>"text/html", "Cache-Control"=>"no-cache"} Can anyone help me with this problem? • Write a compiler for a language that looks ahead and multiple files?

    - by acidzombie24
    In my language I can use a class variable in my method when the definition appears below the method. It can also call methods below my method and etc. There are no 'headers'. Take this C# example. class A { public void callMethods() { print(); B b; b.notYetSeen(); public void print() { Console.Write("v = {0}", v); } int v=9; } class B { public void notYetSeen() { Console.Write("notYetSeen()\n"); } } How should I compile that? what i was thinking is: pass1: convert everything to an AST pass2: go through all classes and build a list of define classes/variable/etc pass3: go through code and check if there's any errors such as undefined variable, wrong use etc and create my output But it seems like for this to work I have to do pass 1 and 2 for ALL files before doing pass3. Also it feels like a lot of work to do until I find a syntax error (other than the obvious that can be done at parse time such as forgetting to close a brace or writing 0xLETTERS instead of a hex value). My gut says there is some other way. Note: I am using bison/flex to generate my compiler.

  • Why does the MSCVRT library generate conflicts at link time?

    - by neuviemeporte
    I am building a project in Visual C++ 2008, which is an example MFC-based app for a static C++ class library I will be using in my own project soon. While building the Debug configuration, I get the following: warning LNK4098: defaultlib 'MSVCRT' conflicts with use of other libs; use /NODEFAULTLIB:library After using the recommended option (by adding "msvcrt" to the "Ignore specific library" field in the project linker settings for the Debug configuration), the program links and runs fine. However, I'd like to find out why this conflict occured, why do I have to ignore a critical library, and if I'm to expect problems later I if add the ignore, or what happens if I don't (because the program builds anyway). At the same time, the Release configuration warns: warning LNK4075: ignoring '/EDITANDCONTINUE' due to '/OPT:ICF' specification warning LNK4098: defaultlib 'MSVCRTD' conflicts with use of other libs; use /NODEFAULTLIB:library I'm guessing that the "D" suffix means this is the debug version of the vc++ runtime, no idea why this gets used this time. Anyway, adding "msvcrtd" to the ignore field causes lots of link errors of the form: error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol imp_CrtDbgReportW Any insight greatly appreciated.

  • Why does my data not pass into my view correctly?

    - by dmanexe
    I have a model, view and controller not interacting correctly, and I do not know where the error lies. First, the controller. According to the Code Igniter documentation, I'm passing variables correctly here. function view() { $html_head = array( 'title' => 'Estimate Management' ); $estimates = $this->Estimatemodel->get_estimates(); $this->load->view('html_head', $html_head); $this->load->view('estimates/view', $estimates); $this->load->view('html_foot'); } The model (short and sweet): function get_estimates() { $query = $this->db->get('estimates')->result(); return $query; } And finally the view, just to print the data for initial development purposes: <? print_r($estimates); ?> Now it's undefined when I navigate to this page. However, I know that $query is defined, because it works when I run the model code directly in the view.

  • Using GKPeerPickerController within a selector from a Cocos2D CCMenuItem

    - by Mark Hazlett
    Hey everyone, So i'm trying to use GameKit along with Cocos2D so that when a user clicks on the multiplayer menu item it will display the GKPeerPickerController. I'm however, running into some snags. It doesn't seem to want to compile. However, it doesn't give me an error inside of the code that's in my selector. Anyways here's the code... @implementation GameOverLayer - (id) init { self = [super init]; if (self != nil) { [CCMenuItemFont setFontSize:20]; [CCMenuItemFont setFontName:@"Helvetica"]; CCMenuItem *start = [CCMenuItemFont itemFromString:@"Play Again!" target:self selector:@selector(startGame:)]; CCMenuItem *connect = [CCMenuItemFont itemFromString:@"Multiplayer" target:self selector:@selector(connect:)]; CCMenu *menu = [CCMenu menuWithItems:start,connect, nil]; [menu alignItemsVertically]; [self addChild:menu]; } return self; } -(void)startGame: (id)sender { [[CCDirector sharedDirector] replaceScene: [HelloWorld scene]]; } -(void)connect: (id)sender { GKPeerPickerController *peerPicker; peerPicker = [[GKPeerPickerController alloc] init]; peerPicker.delegate = self; peerPicker.connectionTypesMask = GKPeerPickerConnectionTypeOnline | GKPeerPickerConnectionTypeNearby; [peerPicker show]; } @end The error message i'm getting is... • Problem calling std::max

    - by Eric
    I compiled my bison-generated files in Visual Studio and got these errors: ...\position.hh(83): error C2589: '(' : illegal token on right side of '::' ...\position.hh(83): error C2059: syntax error : '::' ...\position.hh(83): error C2589: '(' : illegal token on right side of '::' ...\position.hh(83): error C2059: syntax error : '::' The corresponding code is: inline void columns (int count = 1) { column = std::max (1u, column + count); } I think the problem is with std::max; if I change std::max to equivalent code then there is no problem anymore, but is there a better solution instead of changing the generated code? • Problems using a library in Xcode

    - by Pablo
    Hi! I'm actually developping an application for iPhone and I need to use a library, initially dedicated to a Linux environment. Since I'm using a Mac (with Snow Leopard and Intel Core Duo), I guess it's possible to use this library in my app. My library has 3 files: a file .h, a file .a and a file .so (both .a and .so are in /Developer/usr/lib). In addition I have included the .h i nmy code and I've added the .a in XCode has a framework (and it works because XCode find the .so compiling). For your info when I use the command "file" for the file .so, I have: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, not stripped When I compile for the Xcode Simulator, I have a warning and an error. The warning is: In /Developer/usr/lib/mylib.so, file was built for unsupported file format which is not the architecture being linked (i386) The error is: "_mylib_fct", referenced from: -[MyAppAppDelegate applicationDidBecomeActive:] in MyAppAppDelegate.o Symbol(s) not found Collect2: ld returned 1 exit status When I compile for the Device 3.0 with architecture arm6, I also have the same error, but the warning is quite different: ln /Users/Pablo/MyApp/mylib.a file is not of required architecture I try to solve this and make the app working with this lib since days, and I don't understand why the compiler is complaining... is it a 32/64 bits issues ? How can I deal with that ? Your help will be very appreciated. Thx!

  • Instantiate type variable in Haskell

    - by danportin
    EDIT: Solved. I was unware that enabling a language extension in the source file did not enable the language extension in GHCi. The solution was to :set FlexibleContexts in GHCi. I recently discovered that type declarations in classes and instances in Haskell are Horn clauses. So I encoded the arithmetic operations from The Art of Prolog, Chapter 3, into Haskell. For instance: fac(0,s(0)). fac(s(N),F) :- fac(N,X), mult(s(N),X,F). class Fac x y | x -> y instance Fac Z (S Z) instance (Fac n x, Mult (S n) x f) => Fac (S n) f pow(s(X),0,0) :- nat(X). pow(0,s(X),s(0)) :- nat(X). pow(s(N),X,Y) :- pow(N,X,Z), mult(Z,X,Y). class Pow x y z | x y -> z instance (N n) => Pow (S n) Z Z instance (N n) => Pow Z (S n) (S Z) instance (Pow n x z, Mult z x y) => Pow (S n) x y In Prolog, values are insantiated for (logic) variable in a proof. However, I don't understand how to instantiate type variables in Haskell. That is, I don't understand what the Haskell equivalent of a Prolog query ?-f(X1,X2,...,Xn) is. I assume that :t undefined :: (f x1 x2 ... xn) => xi would cause Haskell to instantiate xi, but this gives a Non type-variable argument in the constraint error, even with FlexibleContexts enabled.

  • MongoMapper won't let me create an object

    - by Jade
    I'm just learning MongoDB and MongoMapper. This is on Rails 3. I created a blog in app/models/blog.rb: class Blog include MongoMapper::Document key :title, String, :required => true key :body, Text timestamps! end I go into the Rails console: rails c Loading development environment (Rails 3.0.0.beta) ruby-1.9.1-p378 > **b = Blog.new** NoMethodError: undefined method `from_mongo' for Text:Module from /Users/jade/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.1-p378/gems/mongo_mapper-0.7.2/lib/mongo_mapper/plugins/keys.rb:323:in `get' from /Users/jade/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.1-p378/gems/mongo_mapper-0.7.2/lib/mongo_mapper/plugins/keys.rb:269:in `read_key' from /Users/jade/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.1-p378/gems/mongo_mapper-0.7.2/lib/mongo_mapper/plugins/keys.rb:224:in `[]' from /Users/jade/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.1-p378/gems/mongo_mapper-0.7.2/lib/mongo_mapper/plugins/inspect.rb:7:in `block in inspect' from /Users/jade/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.1-p378/gems/mongo_mapper-0.7.2/lib/mongo_mapper/plugins/inspect.rb:6:in `collect' from /Users/jade/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.1-p378/gems/mongo_mapper-0.7.2/lib/mongo_mapper/plugins/inspect.rb:6:in `inspect' from /Users/jade/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.1-p378/gems/railties-3.0.0.beta/lib/rails/commands/console.rb:47:in `start' from /Users/jade/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.1-p378/gems/railties-3.0.0.beta/lib/rails/commands/console.rb:8:in `start' from /Users/jade/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.1-p378/gems/railties-3.0.0.beta/lib/rails/commands.rb:34:in `<top (required)>' from /Users/jade/code/farmerjade/script/rails:10:in `require' from /Users/jade/code/farmerjade/script/rails:10:in `<main>' Am I overlooking something really dumb, or is this something in my setup? I'm using the mongo_mapper version you get by adding it to your Gemfile, so I'm wondering if it might be that. I'd appreciate any suggestions!

  • Flex: View Stack Navigator

    - by Deena
    Hi, I have a component mxml file in which i have a view stack, on click of a button i navigate to the first child, now i need to navigate to the second child during onclick of a button present in the second child. All the childs are component files included within the view stack. How could this be done, Sample code is present below, --------------------Application.mxml--------------------- <mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" > <mx:Script> <![CDATA[ private function loadScreen():void { navigationViewStack.selectedChild=id_offering; } ]]> </mx:Script> <mx:Button label="Save" click="loadScreen();"/> </mx:Canvas> <mx:ViewStack id="navigationViewStack" width="100%" height="100%"> <components:dashboard id="id_dashboard" label="Dashboard" /> <components:offering id="id_offering" label="Offering" /> <components:IssueSec id="id_issueSec" label = "Issues"/> </mx:ViewStack> -------------------------Ends-------------------------------------- Now in my offering.mxml file if i try to access navigationViewStack i am getting an error stating 'Access of undefined property navigationViewStack. Help me on how to access the view stack from my component mxml file. Thanks! Cheers, Deena

  • How to implement Master-Detail with Multi-Selection in WPF?

    - by gehho
    Hi, I plan to create a typical Master-Detail scenario, i.e. a collection of items displayed in a ListView via DataBinding to an ICollectionView, and details about the selected item in a separate group of controls (TextBoxes, NumUpDowns...). No problem so far, actually I have already implemented a pretty similar scenario in an older project. However, it should be possible to select multiple items in the ListView and get the appropriate shared values displayed in the detail view. This means, if all selected items have the same value for a property, this value should be displayed in the detail view. If they do not share the same value, the corresponding control should provide some visual clue for the user indicating this, and no value should be displayed (or an "undefined" state in a CheckBox for example). Now, if the user edits the value, this change should be applied to all selected items. Further requirements are: MVVM compatibility (i.e. not too much code-behind) Extendability (new properties/types can be added later on) Does anyone have experience with such a scenario? Actually, I think this should be a very common scenario. However, I could not find any details on that topic anywhere. Thanks! gehho. PS: In the older project mentioned above, I had a solution using a subclass of the ViewModel which handles the special case of multi-selection. It checked all selected items for equality and returned the appropriate values. However, this approach had some drawbacks and somehow seemed like a hack because (besides other smelly things) it was necessary to break the synchronization between the ListView and the detail view and handle it manually.

  • Concatenate javascript to a string/parameter in a function

    - by Gerry S
    I am using kottke.org's old JAH example to return some html to a div in a webpage. The code works fine if I use static text. However I need to get the value of a field to add to the string that is getting passed as the parameter to the function. var xmlhttp=false; /*@cc_on @*/ /*@if (@_jscript_version >= 5) try { xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { try { xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } catch (E) { xmlhttp = false; } } @end @*/ if (!xmlhttp && typeof XMLHttpRequest != 'undefined') { xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } function getMyHTML(serverPage, objID) { var obj = document.getElementById(objID); xmlhttp.open("GET", serverPage); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange = function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState == 4 && xmlhttp.status == 200) { obj.innerHTML = xmlhttp.responseText; } } xmlhttp.send(null); } And on the page.... <a href="javascript://" onclick="getMyHTML('/WStepsDE?open&category="+document.getElementById('Employee').value;+"','goeshere')">Change it!</a></p> <div id ="goeshere">Hey, this text will be replaced.</div> It fails (with the help of Firebug) with the getMyHTML call where I try to get the value of Employee to include in the first parameter. The error is "Unterminated string literal". Thx in advance for your help.
