  Hi Folks Basically for my webapp I'm trying to organise it a bit better. As it at the moment, every time I want to load a page, I have to do it from my controller like so: $this->load->view('subviews/template/headerview'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/menuview'); $this->load->view('The-View-I-Want-To-Load'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/sidebar'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/footerview'); As you can tell it's not really very efficient. So I thought I'd create one 'master' view - It's called template.php. This is the contents of the template view: <?php $view = $data['view']; $this->load->view('subviews/template/headerview'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/menuview'); $this->load->view($view); $this->load->view('subviews/template/sidebar'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/footerview'); ?> And then I thought I'd be able to call it from a controller like this: $data['view'] = 'homecontent'; $this->load->view('template',$data); Unfortunately I simply cannot make this work. Does anyone have any ways around this or fixes I can put into place? I've tried putting ""s and ''s around $view in template.php but that makes no difference. The usual error is "Undefined variable: data" or "Cannot load view: $view.php" etc. Thanks folks! Jack

• DNN: Registered Mark changing to Question Mark

  I am having a problem with registered marks in the HTML module.  We need to use the Registered Trademark symbol (®) but some of them are being changed to question marks.  I can find no ryme or reason behind which change and which remain correct.  I have tried a number of things to fix this issue including the following: Using ® and ® using ® copy and paste of ® in both source and non source and using the "insert special character" from the RTE menu Some of the symbols remain but most revert back to question marks.  If i'm in edit mode, the questions marks change back to the registered mark.  Also sometimes the first time viewing the page not logged in or in view mode, they will look fine. But as soon as I got to edit mode or a new page then go back, they change back to question marks.  I am out of idea as to why this is happening. • Traversing/Manipulating new window from parent window with jquery

  I found a question already with a possible solution, but I had already tried the method suggested before reading it, and it even says it's inconsistent. So I guess I'm wondering why this doesn't work: $("img").click(function() { var imgwindow = window.open('imgwin.html','','width=460,height=345'); alert(imgwindow.find("img").attr("src")); }); The goal is to set the new window's img to the same src as the image that the user clicked to open the new window. But in the above scenario, I'm just trying to tap into the new window to get what it's already-set src. I have imgwin.html already written with a default src for the image, so it should alert that url. Instead I just get undefined. I also tried the following (which should be identical on the back end), but with the same results: $("img").click(function() { var imgwindow = window.open('imgwin.html','','width=460,height=345'); alert($("img",imgwindow).attr("src")); }); I even tried variations of wrapping the imgwindow variable in $() in case somehow jquery wasn't picking up on the variable as a DOM element. The only thing I can guess is that since window.open() is a method, jquery doesn't treat it like a DOM element, even though all documentation from basic javascript tutorials treat the variable as both a method to open the window and the pointer to the window's inner DOM.

• Why isn't jQuery automatically appending the JSONP callback?

  The $.getJSON() documentation states: If the specified URL is on a remote server, the request is treated as JSONP instead. See the discussion of the jsonp data type in $.ajax() for more details. The $.ajax() documentation for the jsonp data type states (emphasis mine): Loads in a JSON block using JSONP. Will add an extra "?callback=?" to the end of your URL to specify the callback. So it seems that if I call $.getJSON() with a cross-domain URL, the extra "callback=?" parameter should automatically get added. (Other parts of the documentation support this interpretation.) However, I'm not seeing that behavior. If I don't add the "callback=?" explicitly, jQuery incorrectly makes an XMLHttpRequest (which returns null data since I can't read the response cross-domain). If I do add it explicitly, jQuery correctly makes a <script> request. Here's an example: var URL = "http://www.geonames.org/postalCodeLookupJSON" + "?postalcode=10504&country=US"; function alertResponse(data, status) { alert("data: " + data + ", status: " + status); } $.getJSON(URL, alertResponse); // alerts "data: null, status: success" $.getJSON(URL + "&callback=?", alertResponse); // alerts "data: [object Object], status: undefined" So what's going on? Am I misunderstanding the documentation or forgetting something? It goes without saying that this isn't a huge deal, but I'm creating a web API and I purposely set the callback parameter to "callback" in the hopes of tailoring it nicely to jQuery usage. Thanks!

• make emacs in a terminal use dark colors and not light font-lock colors

  I am using emacs on MacOS 10.6 with Terminal. I have a white background. It's very hard to read quoted C++ strings. They are coming up in pale green. Keywords are in turquoise. After searching through the source I cam across cpp.el and have determined that I am using the cpp-face-light-name-list instead of cpp-face-dark-name-list. Apparently this function is supposed to chose the correct list based on the background color: (defcustom cpp-face-default-list nil "Alist of faces you can choose from for cpp conditionals. Each element has the form (STRING . FACE), where STRING serves as a name (for `cpp-highlight-buffer' only) and FACE is either a face (a symbol) or a cons cell (background-color . COLOR)." :type '(repeat (cons string (choice face (cons (const background-color) string)))) :group 'cpp) But it doesn't seem to be working. What should I put in my .emacs file so that I get the cpp-face-dark-list instead of cpp-face-light-list? Thanks!

• HttpUtility does not exist in the current context

  I get this error when compiling a C# application. Looks like a trivial error, but I can't get around it. My setup is Windows 7 64 bit. Visual-Studio 2010 C# express B2Rel. I added a reference to System.Web.dll located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\.NETFramework\v4.0, but it has a yellow exclamation symbol and I still get the above error. I also have the using System.Web declaration. What am I doing wrong? Update: After getting the prompt answer pointing me at the root cause, I searched a bit in Google to where it states that System.Web.dll is for the full framework. I did not find such a reference. For newbies like me, this blog summarizes the difference between the frameworks (client and full) nicely. I could not find a spot that says whether a certain Dll is supported in the client framework or not. I guess the exclamation mark in Visual Studio should be the first signal...

Also I was wondering if anyone had a good reference for grokking the CMS GC logs, in particular this line: [1 CMS-remark: 16015K(393216K)] 71979K(511232K), 0.0746640 secs] Not clear on what memory regions those numbers are referring to.

• Uploadify: Passing a form's ID as a parameter with scriptData

  I need the ability to have multiple upload inputs on one page (potentially hundreds) using Uploadify. The upload PHP file will be renaming the uploaded file based on the ID of the input button used to submit it, so it will need that ID. Since I will be having hundreds of upload buttons on one page, I wanted to create a universal instantiation, so I did this using the class of the forms rather than the ID of the forms. However, when one of the inputs is clicked, I would like to pass the ID of that input as scriptData to the PHP. This is not working; PHP says 'formId' is undefined. Is there a good way get the ID attribute of the form input being used, and passing it to the upload PHP? Or is there a completely different and better method of accomplishing this? Altough I think that If I use merge meshes the app would have a better performance...

What causes this error? I know it is at detach, but what am I doing wrong in my code? Windows shows lots of free memory, so it should not be the computer running out of memory, this error occurs even if I set $maxthreads as low as 10 or possibly even lower.

  i am trying to compile my program which uses regex on linux. I built the boost library in the libs/regex/build by typing make -fgcc.mak which created a directory gcc which contains the following four files boost_regex-gcc-1_35 boost_regex-gcc-d-1_35 libboost_regex-gcc-1_35.a libboost_regex-gcc-d-1_35.a Now I want to use regex from my program which is in some arbitrary directory. I #included boost/regex.hpp I got the error which stated that regex.hpp is not found. Then I gave the -I option in the g++ compiler. I didn't get that error. I tried using the "standard" method by doing "configure make make install" and using #import <IL/il> but it doesn't work. • Looking for a workaround for IE 6/7 "Unspecified Error" bug when accessing offsetParent; using ASP.N

  I'm using jQuery UI's draggable and droppable libraries in a simple ASP.NET proof of concept application. This page uses the ASP.NET AJAX UpdatePanel to do partial page updates. The page allows a user to drop an item into a trashcan div, which will invoke a postback that deletes a record from the database, then rebinds the list (and other controls) that the item was drug from. All of these elements (the draggable items and the trashcan div) are inside an ASP.NET UpdatePanel. When I then grab a draggable with my cursor, I get an "htmlfile: Unspecified error." exception. I can resolve this problem in the jQuery library by replacing elem.offsetParent with calls to this function that I wrote: function IESafeOffsetParent(elem) { try { return elem.offsetParent; } catch(e) { return document.body; } } I also have to avoid calls to elem.getBoundingClientRect() as it throws the same error. For those interested, I only had to make these changes in the jQuery.fn.offset function in the Dimensions Plugin. My questions are: Although this works, are there better ways (cleaner; better performance; without having to modify the jQuery library) to solve this problem? If not, what's the best way to manage keeping my changes in sync when I update the jQuery libraries in the future? For, example can I extend the library somewhere other than just inline in the files that I download from the jQuery website.   Hello all, I am trying to implement a fancybox. http://fancybox.net/howto I want to call this function on an an element. • How to create mobile substrate plugins on XCode?

  Hi Everyone, I just wanna create a MS plugin to hook SpringBoard. I'm following "gojohnnyboi" tutorial from here "http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103558". To create a dylib on XCode, I'm following "SkylarEC" tutorial. I mix these two great tutorials and finally got succeed by getting a dylib. But when I placed the dylib in the /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/ nothing is happened (no alert was shown). By evaluating, I found that, this dylib doesn't have any starting point when it was loaded into the memory. So I mentioned a starting point by declaring a constructor in the .mm file like, __ attribute__((constructor)) static void init() { Class _$SBAppIcon = objc_getClass("SBApplicationIcon"); MSHookMessage($SBAppIcon, @selector(launch), (IMP) &_$ExampleHook_AppIcon_Launch, "_OriginalMethodPrefix"); } But when I'm trying to compile this, I'm getting an error like, Undefined symbols: "_MSHookMessage", referenced from: init() in ExampleHook.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status. Does anyone has idea how to solve this? It would be great and more helpful if anyone share the detailed tutorial/instructions to create a dylib on XCode. P.S I placed all the libsubstrate.dylib and substrate.h files in the corresponding location. And the locations are, libsubstrate.dylib : /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/usr/lib/ substrate.h : /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS3.0.sdk/usr/include and my base SDK is 3.0.

• Good grammar for date data type for recursive descent parser LL(1)

  I'm building a custom expression parser and evaluator for production enviroment to provide a limited DSL to the users. The parser itself as the DSL, need to be simple. The parser is going to be built in an exotic language that doesn't support dynamic expression parsing nor has any parser generator tools available. My decision is to go for recursive descent approach with LL(1) grammar, so that even programmers with no previous experience in evaluating expression could quickly learn how the code works. It has to handle mixed expressions made up of several data types: decimals, percentages, strings and dates. And dates in the format of dd/mm/yyyy are easy to confuse with a string of devision ops. Is where a good solution to this problem? My own solution that is aimed at keeping the parser simple involves prefixing dates with a special symbol, let's say apostrophe: <date> ::= <apostr><digit><digit>/<digit><digit>/<digit><digit><digit><digit> <apostr> ::= ' <digit> ::= '0'..'9'

• Simulating aspects of static-typing in a duck-typed language

  In my current job I'm building a suite of Perl scripts that depend heavily on objects. (using Perl's bless() on a Hash to get as close to OO as possible) Now, for lack of a better way of putting this, most programmers at my company aren't very smart. Worse, they don't like reading documentation and seem to have a problem understanding other people's code. Cowboy coding is the game here. Whenever they encounter a problem and try to fix it, they come up with a horrendous solution that actually solves nothing and usually makes it worse. This results in me, frankly, not trusting them with code written in duck typed language. As an example, I see too many problems with them not getting an explicit error for misusing objects. For instance, if type A has member foo, and they do something like, instance->goo, they aren't going to see the problem immediately. It will return a null/undefined value, and they will probably waste an hour finding the cause. Then end up changing something else because they didn't properly identify the original problem. So I'm brainstorming for a way to keep my scripting language (its rapid development is an advantage) but give an explicit error message when an an object isn't used properly. I realize that since there isn't a compile stage or static typing, the error will have to be at run time. I'm fine with this, so long as the user gets a very explicit notice saying "this object doesn't have X" As part of my solution, I don't want it to be required that they check if a method/variable exists before trying to use it. Even though my work is in Perl, I think this can be language agnostic.

• WOT Bookmarklet

  I'm trying to write a bookmarklet that will allow me to view the Web Of Trust (WOT) ratings for all the links on a page before visiting them. While WOT provides their own bookmarklet, it is not very useful since you need to visit the page first before viewing the rating. This will be used on SeaMonkey, so I can't just install the WOT extension, either. WOT has a Javascript API that allows you to activate the ratings on any page it is included in, so I am using that as a base. However, it never seems to work correctly as a bookmarklet. Here's one attempt where I tried to keep the code as close to the API as possible. I only modified the wotinject function so that it would work in a bookmarklet and added a timeout so that the rating widget wouldn't be loaded before jQuery. var wotprotocol = (document.location.protocol == "https:") ? • Phonegap Screenshot plugin in Cordova 2.0.0

  I have set up the screenshot plugin from github, located here: https://github.com/phonegap/phonegap-plugins/tree/master/Android/Screenshot I set it up as instructed and with 1.8.1 of cordova. It worked and the screenshot was saved to the phone. However it fails with cordova 2.0.0. • USB Barcode Scanner and WM_KEYDOWN

  I am trying to write a program that can will read a barcode scanner. In addition, I need it to read the input even when the application is not the window in focus (i.e., running in system tray, etc). I found this article, titled Distinguishing Barcode Scanners from the Keyboard in WinForms, that seems to solve the exact problem. It is working pretty good, it detects my device and handles the WM_INPUT message. However, it is checking to see if the RAWINPUT.keyboard.Message is WM_KEYDOWN (0x100). It never seems to receive this. The only line of code I've altered in the code provided in the article is adding a Console.Out.WriteLine to output the actual values of that message: Console.Out.WriteLine("message: {0}", raw.keyboard.Message.ToString("X")); if (raw.keyboard.Message == NativeMethods.WM_KEYDOWN) { .... Here is what it outputs: message: B message: 1000B message: 3 message: 10003 message: 8 message: 10008 message: 3 message: 10003 message: 5 message: 10005 message: 3 message: 10003 message: 8 message: 10008 message: 8 message: 10008 message: 4 message: 10004 message: 9 message: 10009 message: 9 message: 10009 message: 3 message: 10003 The value I'm expecting to receive when this completes correctly is: 257232709 Which I verified by scanning to notepad. I don't know if the Operation System is relevant here, but I figured I should mention that I'm running this in Windows 7 64 and Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 3.5. Scanner is a USB Barcode Scanner, Symbol LS2208, setup as "HID KEYBOARD EMULATION"

• MS Ajax FilteredTextBox stopped working

  Hi, I'm using Microsoft's AJAX library via their CDN. Everything was going fine in an old project. I then created a new project and copied and pasted some of the AJAX code hoping that it would work. However, my code isn't working and I've been struggling to figure out why. In Chrome, I used the Dev Tools and it found two errors on the page. In my .aspx page, I have: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'Numbers' of undefined (regarding the Sys.Extended.UI.FilterTypes.Numbers in the code above). In filteredtextboxbehavior.debug.js, I have the error: Uncaught TypeError: Object #<an Object> has no method 'registerComponent' Any ideas why I'm getting this error? The code has been working previously so I'm not sure if I had added any extra settings in my old project which the new one doesn't have. • jQuery Bounce ignores positioning

  I'm having a problem trying to use the jQuery effect "bounce" on an absolutely position div inside of a relatively positioned div. The #Bounce div is positioned to be slightly above the container div and when a certain message is received it is supposed to bounce on top of it. But what ends up happening is that the #bounce div drops down into the container div and bounces inside of it till it stops and then correctly repositions itself on top of the container div. This same code is working in Firefox but doesn't seem to be working in Webkit or IE.
