  • Passing to service custom class instance in WCF

    Hi, I have my custom class Customer with its properties. I added DataContract mark above the class and DataMember to properties and it was working fine, but I'm calling a service class's function, passing customer instance as parameter and some of my properties get 0 values. While debugging I can see my properties values and after it gets to the function, some properties' values are 0. Why it can be so? There's no code between this two actions. DataContract mark workes fine, everything's ok. Any suggestions on this issue? I tried to change ByRef to ByVal, but it doesn't change anything. Why it would pass other values right and some of integer types just 0? Maybe the answer is simple, but I can't figure it out.   • Help with dynamic range compression function (audio)

    I am writing a C# function for doing dynamic range compression (an audio effect that basically squashes transient peaks and amplifies everything else to produce an overall louder sound). This function definitely produces a louder overall sound, but with an unacceptable level of distortion, even at low threshold values and low ratios. Can anybody see anything wrong with this function? Am I handling the stereo aspect correctly (the function assumes stereo input)? As I (dimly) understand things, I don't want to compress the two channels separately, so my code is attempting to compress a "virtual" mono sample value and then apply the same degree of compression to the L and R sample value separately. Not sure I'm doing it right, however. I think part of the problem may the "hard knee" of my function, which kicks in the compression abruptly when the threshold is crossed. I think I may need to use a "soft knee" like this: Can anybody suggest a modification to my function to produce the soft knee curve?

I have an excel file for which i am updating the cell values. those values are being used in some other sheets (within the same excel file) however, when i open the file, those values don't updated. when i select the cell text and hit enter then all the remaining sheets get the value. please suggest if I am missing something...   • SQLite self-join performance

    What I essentially want, is to retreive all features and values of products which have a particular feature and value. For example: I want to know all available hard drive sizes of products that have an Intel processor. I have three tables: product_to_value (product_id, feature_id, value_id) features (id, value) // for example Processor family, Storage size, etc. values (id, value) // for example Intel, 60GB, etc The simplified query I have now: SELECT features.name, featurevalues.name, featurevalues.value FROM products, products as prod2, features, features as feat2, values, values as val2 WHERE products.feature = features.id AND products.value = values.id AND products.product = prod2.product AND prod2.feature_id = feat2.id AND prod2.value_id = val2.id AND features.id = ? AND feat2.id = ? All columns have an index. I am using SQLite. The problem is that it's very slow (70ms per query, without the self-join it's <1ms). Is there a smarter way to fetch data like this? Or is this too much to ask from SQLite? I personally think I am simply overlooking something, as I am quite new to SQLite.

  • SSIS package not picking up configuration files correctly

    We have recently migrated some 30 DTS packages in SQL Server 2000 to SSIS packages in SQL Server 2008. We have created packages in such a way that all environment related variables and other required information are picked from configuration files for maintenance of packages across different environments like Dev, QA and Prod. After setting up all the packages with the config files, when we tested the packages from Business Intelligence Development Studio, it worked fine and picked up the values from the configuration file. And when changing the values in config files to Dev or other env it correctly picked up the values and executed. Similarly, tried for 2 different environments and the packages worked fine. So we deployed to Prod and it was working fine. Yesterday, I had to make a functional change for one package and so I made the change in the package (it is just changing a parameter in a SQL procedure execution task and not related to any variables) and tested in BIDS with 2 environments and it worked fine. As the change was not related to any environment change, we deployed only the updated package (not the associated config file) manually in Prod (i.e without the use of manifest). The config file which was used by the package previously and working fine in Prod remained unaltered. But when the package was executed, the package was pointing to QA and the package didn't read from the config file I believe. One reason may be, it is still using the last executed values which remains in the .dtsx file(can be checked by opening the file in a text editor) usually. But normally, when a package is executed, the values will be overwritten from config file. Guess it is not happening. What are the possible reasons for this? We have tested extensively switching between test environments and it does not show this behavior. We have encountered this in Prod environment twice now. Anyone else have experienced this and how have you resolved this?

    I have two property FirstName and LastName and bound to a textblock using Multibinidng and converter to display the FullName as FirstName + Last Name. FirstName="Kishore" LastName="Kumar" In the Converter I changed the LastName as "Changed Text" values[1] = "Changed Text"; After executing the Converter my TextBlock will show "Kishore Changed Text" but Dependency property LastName is still have the last value "Kumar". Why I am not getting the "Changed Text" value in the LastName property after the execution?.     As of now I'm using a while(true) method to detect changes in memory. The problem with this is it's kill the applications performance. I have a list of 30 pointers that need checked as rapidly as possible for changes, without sacrificing a huge performance loss. I've considered using the PropertyChangedCallBack event, but can't quite figure out how I could write that to achieve my goal. I'm also unsure of how I find the correct ListViewItem to set it as Selected. And lastly, if I can find the ListViewItem and set it to be Selected, won't that fire my SelectionChanged event each time I set a ListViewItem to be Selected?

    Hi All, Suppose there is a table A which has a column AccessRights which is multivalued( Eg of values in it in this format STOLI,HELP,BRANCH(comma separated string) Now a stored procedure is written against this table to fetch records based on a AccessRight parameter sent to the SP. Let that parameter be @AccessRights, this is also a comma separated string which may have a value like STOLI,BRANCH,HELPLINE etc Now I want to compare individual values from the parameter @AccessRights with the column AccessRights. Current Approach is I split the Comma Separated string(@AccessRights) using a User Defined Function Split. And I get Individual values in a Table variable(Contains only one column "accessGroup"), the individual values are in a Table variable under the column name accessGroup and I use following code in the SP for comparison Where AccessRights like '%'+accessGroup+'%' Now if the user passes the parameter (HELP, OLI) instead of( HELP,STOLI) the SP will give the output. What should be done for comparison so that that subststring OLI does not give the output for STOLI

  • Getting ClassCastException with JSF 1.2 Custom Component and BEA 10.3

    Im getting a ClassCastException if i use Attributes in my Custom Headline Tag. Without Attributes rendering works fine.     What is the fastest sorting algorithm for a large number (tens of thousands) of groups of 9 positive double precision values, where each group must be sorted individually? So it's got to sort fast a small number of possibly repeated double precision values, many times in a row. The values are in the [0..1] interval. I don't care about space complexity or stability, just about speed.

  • How to capture input parameters from within stored procedure (SQL Server 2005)?

    I would like to create a generic logging solution for my stored procedures, allowing me to log the values of input parameters. Currently I am doing this more or less by hand and I am very unhappy with this approach. Ideally, I would like to say something like the following: "given my spid, what are my input parameters and their values?" This is the same information exposed to me when I run SQL Profiler -- the stored procedure's name, all input params and all input VALUES are listed for me.   • Problem inserting android.text.format.Time.toMillis value into SQLite DB on droid

    I'm writing an app for Android OS, and I need to store some time values in the SQLite DB. I have been using android.text.format.Time to store the time values in the app, and then inserting the values as millis into the DB as REAL values. On the SDK emulator, everything works perfectly. On the sole phone I've had the opportunity to test my app (so far), my duration code doesn't work as expected. Some relevant code: private static final String DATABASE_CREATE = "create table " + DATABASE_TABLE + " (" + KEY_ROWID + " integer primary key autoincrement, " + KEY_START + " REAL, " + KEY_STOP + " REAL, " + KEY_DUR + " REAL );"; ... private SQLiteDatabase mDb; ContentValues timerValues = new ContentValues(); ... timerValues.put(KEY_START, stime.toMillis(false)); timerValues.put(KEY_STOP, etime.toMillis(false)); timerValues.put(KEY_DURATION, stime.toMillis(false)-etime.toMillis(false)); int result = mDb.insert(DATABASE_TABLE, null, timerValues); I pull this data from two separate functions with slightly different bits of code, both using Time.set(long millis), both giving incorrect results: The start and stop values come back correct, but the duration comes out 17 hours too large. Am I missing something about calculating durations or does this just seem like there's something "special" about this particular droid? I'll have another droid to test on Monday, but any ideas are appreciated.

    I am building a web service that receives a SAML attribute query and responds with an attribute statement. I know I can return one or multiple values of a SAML attribute. I have some values that are dependent on the other attribute values. I need to show that relationship. Let us say, the query is for the Subject Dave and the return values are his company and job title. Dave can work at multiple companies with job title at each company. I have two options of sending this data back: Send this as a complextype by defining an attribute organization and return xml within that attribute. <saml:Attribute name="company"> <saml:AttributeValue> <company name="company1" jobtitle="CIO"/> <company name="company2" jobtitle="VP"/> </saml:AttributeValue> Try to send multiple values of attributes somehow sending a reference in attributevalue element. <saml:Attribute name="company"> <attributeValue>company1</attributeValue> <attributeValue>company2</attributeValue> </saml:Attribute> <saml:Attribute name="jobTitle> <attributeValue company="company1">CIO</attributeValue> <attributeValue company="company2">VP</attributeValue> </saml:Attribute> Which approach will you prefer? Why? I am biased towards second approach as it does not require client to know about any schema. It does require them to know about non-standard attribute company in the attribute value.

    I'm trying to make this command: sed bla bla filename | awk '{printf "%s %s_entry_%.3f %.3f %.3f %.3f",$1,$3,$4,$5,$6,$7}' But the thing is, i want the %.3f part to be variable. So in one case it could be %.3f and in another it could be %.3f %.3f %.3f. So i'll just use a static one in my example code for clarity. So if i want 4 of these %.3f and put them in variable $values like so: values="%.3f %.3f %.3f %.3f" Then how can i put this string in the awk expression, without making awk to just put literally "${values}" in there.     Hi, I have upgraded my web application from 3.5 to 4.0 to get benefits of the new features of ASP.NET 4.0. When i try to get Route Data Values; Page.RouteData.Values["customerId"] with this code i couldn't reach the RouteData.Values collection the Page class doesnt contain a member called routedata. I also have the same issue with Response.RedirectPermanent... What might be the reason ? Thanks in advance

    I am writing a PL/SQL procedure that loads some data from Schema A into Schema B. They are both very different schemas and I can't change the structure of Schema B. Columns in various tables in Schema A (joined together in a view) need to be inserted into Schema B as key=value pairs in 2 columns in a table, each on a separate row. For example, an employee's first name might be present as employee.firstname in Schema A, but would need to be entered in Schema B as: id=>1, key=>'A123', value=>'Smith' There are almost 100 keys, with the potential for more to be added in future. This means I don't really want to hardcode any of these keys. Sample code: create table schema_a_employees ( emp_id number(8,0), firstname varchar2(50), surname varchar2(50) ); insert into schema_a_employees values ( 1, 'James', 'Smith' ); insert into schema_a_employees values ( 2, 'Fred', 'Jones' ); create table schema_b_values ( emp_id number(8,0), the_key varchar2(5), the_value varchar2(200) ); I thought an elegant solution would most likely involve a lookup table to determine what value to insert for each key, and doesn't involve effectively hardcoding dozens of similar statements like.... insert into schema_b_values ( 1, 'A123', v_firstname ); insert into schema_b_values ( 1, 'B123', v_surname ); What I'd like to be able to do is have a local lookup table in Schema A that lists all the keys from Schema B, along with a column that gives the name of the column in the table in Schema A that should be used to populate, e.g. key "A123" in Schema B should be populated with the value of the column "firstname" in Schema A, e.g. create table schema_a_lookup ( the_key varchar2(5), the_local_field_name varchar2(50) ); insert into schema_a_lookup values ( 'A123', 'firstname' ); insert into schema_a_lookup values ( 'B123', 'surname' ); But I'm not sure how I could dynamically use values from the lookup table to tell Oracle which columns to use. So my question is, is there an elegant solution to populate schema_b_values table with the data from schema_a_employees without hardcoding for every possible key (i.e. A123, B123, etc)? Cheers.

    console.log takes a string and replaces tokens with values, for example: console.log("My name is %s, and I like %", 'Dave', 'Javascript') would print: My name is Dave, and I like Javascript I'd like to wrap this inside a method like so: function log(msg, values) { if(config.log == true){ console.log(msg, values); } } The 'values' arg might be a single value or several optional args. How can I accomplish this? If I call it like so: log("My name is %s, and I like %s", "Dave", "Javascript"); I get this (it doesn't recognize "Javascript" as a 3rd argument): My name is Dave, and I like %s If I call this: log("My name is %s, and I like %s", ["Dave", "Javascript"]); then it treats the second arg as an array (it doesn't expand to multiple args). What trick am I missing to get it to expand the optional args?
