  Wrote a java code to search for users from Active Directory server. We get the user list but dont know the domain to which each user belongs. How can the domain of the user be found from Active Directory programatically. One method thought of is : 1)Get the distinguished name of user from Active Directory. 2)Parse the distinguished name. 3)Get the substring that starts the first instance of "DC=". 4)Strip off the "DC=" at the beginning. 5)Replace all instances of ",DC=" with a "." 6)What is left is the DNS domain name of the user. Is this reliable. Please suggest some other solution.

  I'm trying to create a function to parse out all values in a multidimensional Array with all but one dimension given. The details are not relevant, but for this function I need to return an one-dimensional Array containing values of the same type the original multidimensional Array has. To pass any Array with any dimension to my function, I declared the type of this parameter as Array. However, how would I create a new Array of that specific type (e.g. Integer)? Currently I have the following code: Function GetRow(ByVal arr As Array) As Array Dim result As (...) 'This should be Integer() if arr contains Integers, etc. Return result End Function How do I declare the type of result to make it having the same type of values as arr? New Array is not possible as it is declared MustInherit. Thanks a lot.

• Help with dates in Android

  Hi guys, Looking for a bit of help with taking a dat from a DatePicker Widget and storing it in an sqlite database within the app. I have the following code: java.util.Date utilDate = null; String y = Integer.toString(date.getDayOfMonth()) + "/" + (date.getMonth()+1) + "/" + Integer.toString(date.getYear()); SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyy"); utilDate = formatter.parse(y); java.sql.Date z = new java.sql.Date(utilDate.getDate()); x = z.toString(); Log.v("The date: ", x); } Where date is the DatePicker widget. If I output the utilDate variable (i.e. the Java version of date) using logCat it seems to work fine and gives me a format like: Tue Jan 04 00:00:00 GMT 2011 which I am expecting but using the code above to get the sql version of the date, it always gives me the date 1970-01-01. I'm pretty sure the solution is very simple but I just can't see it.

  I'm sure there is a quick and easy way to calculate the sum of a column of values on Unix systems (using something like awk or xargs perhaps), but writing a shell script to parse the rows line by line is the only thing that comes to mind at the moment. • WPF TextBox value doesn't change on OnPropertyChanged

  I have a TextBox whose Value is binded to a ViewModel property: <TextBox Name="txtRunAfter" Grid.Column="4" Text="{Binding Mode=TwoWay, Path=RunAfter}" Style="{StaticResource TestStepTextBox}"/> The set and get were working fine until I tried to add some validation when the Value is set: private int _runAfter = 0; public string RunAfter { get { return _runAfter.ToString(); } set { int val = int.Parse(value); if (_runAfter != val) { if (val < _order) _runAfter = val; else { _runAfter = 0; OnPropertyChanged("RunAfter"); } } } } Although the OnPropertyChanged is reached (I have dubugged that), the View is not changed.   Hi all, I know Android cannot handle PDFs natively. However, the Nexus One (and possibly other phones) come pre-installed with QuickOffice Viewer. How would I determine whether the user has a PDF viewer installed? Currently, the code to start the PDF download looks pretty simple: Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW); intent.setData(Uri.parse(url)); startActivity(intent); After download, the user clicks on the downloaded file to invoke the viewer. However, if there is no PDF viewer, Android reports "Cannot download. The content is not supported on the phone." I want to determine if the user will get this message, and if so, direct them to PDF apps in the Android Market. Thanks!

Thanks :) Its also defiantly at least connecting to the website as my firewall asked me if the Terminal was aloud to access it. At the moment not only is it displaying no errors its actually letting anything through and saving it.

  Hi, I'm looking for a way to automatically start the android Package Installer , after the browser finishes downloading an apk file . Any ideas on this ? Currently after the download is over the list of downloaded files is displayed and clicking on the downloaded apk launches the Package installer . • How to create a bash function with variable parameters/arguments to grep several keywords/tags

  I'm using the :!grep "tag1" filename | grep "tag2" filename | grep -n "tag3 or more" filename command in vim to search for my code snippets based on their tags (a simple comment at the top of a snippet) in one big file. I use snippets to remember tricky things. This is painful to write out each time. I'd like to make an alias, or function to do something like this: :!greptag tag1 tag2 ... tag39 And it should search the current doc and return the lines with all the tags on them. Vim is set to interactive shell mode so that it can parse my bashrc for aliases/functions. set shellcmdflag=-ic How can I construct a function that allows for variable arguments like this in bash?

• Generate MySQL data dump in SQL from PHP

  I'm writing a PHP script to generate SQL dumps from my database for version control purposes. It already dumps the data structure by means of running the appropriate SHOW CREATE .... query. Now I want to dump data itself but I'm unsure about the best method. My requirements are: I need a record per row Rows must be sorted by primary key SQL must be valid and exact no matter the data type (integers, strings, binary data...) Dumps should be identical when data has not changed I can detect and run mysqldump as external command but that adds an extra system requirement and I need to parse the output in order to remove headers and footers with dump information I don't need (such as server version or dump date). I'd love to keep my script as simple as I can so it can be hold in an standalone file. What are my alternatives?

• Problems opening large csv file

  I have a csv file that is 100mb in size. I need to parse some data out of it into a new format. I tried PHP, but keep running into memory issues. After around the first 150 "rows" or so, the script poops out. This is even on the localhost, and doing everything I can to tune the PHP settings, including max_memory and script_execution_time. Now before I continue, I'd like to know if Python will poop out on me too. Or if I will have to use C++. Can someone name good csv libraries for for these programmin langueage? The file is quoted csv. I mean scheiza I can't even open this text file in OpenOffice without it dying on me. (then again, Java sux as bad as PHP)

  Im trying to parse an xml feed that looks something like this: <item> <title>item title</title> <link>item link</link> <description>item description</description> </item> I'm trying to find an xpath expression that will retrieve all the details of each item so that each item in the feed is contained within its own array or grouped in some way. I tried using //item/* but the tags are not grouped, although they are correctly ordered. What do I need to do to get it ready for zshell? Note: I realize the answer could be "go learn zsh syntax," but I was hoping for a quick hand with this if it's not too difficult.

• What's the deal with char.GetNumericValue?

  I was working on Project Euler 40, and was a bit bothered that there was no int.Parse(char). Not a big deal, but I did some asking around and someone suggested char.GetNumericValue. GetNumericValue seems like a very odd method to me: Takes in a char as a parameter and returns...a double? Returns -1.0 if the char is not '0' through '9' So what's the reasoning behind this method, and what purpose does returning a double serve? I even fired up Reflector and looked at InternalGetNumericValue, but it's just like watching Lost: every answer just leads to another question.

• C++ Multithreaded server help

  Hello all, I'm working on a multithreaded server in c++ using boost-asio. Currently a design problem I'm running into deals with erasing a connection. I have a single server instance which holds a vector of connection objects. These connections receive commands which I parse. One command in particular deals with sending data to ALL connections in my vector. Now when a connection disconnects I'm currently erasing this connection from the vector and calling the destructor. It seems like I'm going to run into problems when someone 'SendAll' at the same time someone 'Disconnect'. Could anyone recommend a better design or just point me in the right direction? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

• Data format for content heavy iPhone app - Plist or XML?

  Hello, I'm building an iPhone app that is essentially a book, it will be bundled with a lot of text-heavy content. I considered bundling the data as XML and load it when the application starts but the XML would contain a lot of nested structures and be a bit of a pain to parse. Would it be better to use a plist? I'm concerned about memory usage and plists are loaded entirely into memory - can they be parsed in chunks? Is there a maximum size to a plist and how efficient are they? I'm not sure how big the bundled content is going to be yet but I should imagine it could be anywhere from 500k to 4MB. Thanks in advance.

Adobe says: "Selecting the currently selected date in the control deselects it, sets the selectedDate property to null", so when user selects other date the selectedDate = null. I changed it to a custom serializable dictionary, but I get the following error when I try to access the setting-property (I set it to a serialized representation of the default value). The property 'Setting' could not be created from it's default value. Error message: There is an error in XML document (1, 41). Any ideas will be appreciated.
