    I'm writing a page that does very simple search queries, resulting in something like: SELECT * FROM my_table WHERE A in (a1, a2, a3) AND B in (b1, b2) AND C in (c1, c2, c3, c4) AND And so on for a variable number of columns, usually ~5. If I create a separate index for each column (one for A, one for B, one for C, not (A,B,C)), will all of them be used in the above query?

  • Sqlite3 and PDO problem with ORDER BY

    Hi, I try to use the SQL statement SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY column via an PDO-Object in PHP. Problem is, that I always get an error (Call to a member function fetchall() on a non-object - that means, the query did not return a PDO-object) when using the names of all columnname EXCEPT for ID. When I query SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY ID it works. ID is the PRIMARY INTEGER KEY, all other columns are TEXT or NUMERIC, neither of them would works with the ORDER BY clause. Any ideas?

    Suppose, I want to record say poll choices by users everyday. In this case, i have a table named vote which has columns poll , choice and user-id . So how can i out the constraint (maybe in the django models or wherever possible) that poll and user-id both should not be the same for any entry but like the same user can vote for various different polls once and obviously various users can vote for the same poll.     Here are the relevant models: User Product Order A User can sell or buy products An order has a buyer, a seller and one product I know that I can do this with a HABTM relationship between orders and user, but is seems to me like it would be simpler to put in the Order table the following columns: :seller_id :buyer_id and manage those relationships manually as orders are only created once and never edited. However, this doesn't seem very Rails-like and I am wondering if I am missing something conceptually at the HABTM relationship.

    I have a DataGridView which is filling from Table in SQL Server Database. One of it's columns is "price". Type of column in DGV is automatically sets as Decimal. In some cases I need to write in cells of this column text like "none", instead of price. How can I do it? DGV.Item("price", 0).Value = "none" doesn't work, because of decimal type of a cell.

The table has got millions of rows in it, and I want to run a query: SELECT col1, COUNT(col2) WHERE col1 NOT IN (<couple of exclusions>) GROUP BY col1 Unfortunately, this is resulting in a full table scan of the table, which takes upwards of a minute. Is there any way of getting oracle to use the index on the columns to return the results much faster?

    Take for the following for example: <GridSplitter Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="1" Background="Yellow" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" Width="Auto" Height="Auto" Grid.RowSpan="3" ResizeDirection="Columns etc etc This will create a GridSplitter across the 3 rows that I have in my grid. However, it's conceivable that I might add another row to my grid at a later stage, and I don't really want to go back and have all of my rowspans. My first guess was Grid.RowSpan="*", but that doesn't compile. Does anyone know the answer to this off hand?

The syntax should be the column name between double quotes incase of two words, like this: SELECT p_Name "Product Name" from items So I'm trying to do it in C# code like this: string sqlqry1 = "SELECT p_Name \"Prodcut Name\" from items"; But I get an error: Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'p_Name "Prodcut Name"'. It seems am having somthing wrong with the quotes, but I can't figure out.

    After upgrade to PHP 5.3 my application is returning DB2 columns with Timestamp type as "2010-12-15-10.23.22.716000". This is causing problem for PHP DateTime function, as it fails with Failed to parse time string (2010-12-15-10.23.22.716000) at position 25 (0): Unexpected character It seems its having a problem with too much accuracy in DB2 timestamp. Can I somehow force connection to change timestamp format with it is fetching data into?

    At my job, we have pseudo-standard of creating one table to hold the "standard" information for an entity, and a second table, named like 'TableNameDetails', which holds optional data elements. On average, for every row in the main table will have about 8-10 detail rows in it. My question is: What kind of performance impacts does this have over adding these details as additional nullable columns on the main table?
