    Is there Ruby Version Manager (http://rvm.beginrescueend.com) equivalent for the Java world? I'm looking for tool which allow me to easily download and install a new JVMs and switch between them. For example: jvm install <version> jvm list - will list installed JVMs on my system jvm use jdk1.6 - will switch my env to jdk 1.6 version, etc.

  • Deleting MySQL rows causes lock table error

    I had a couple million rows to delete but they can't be deleted at once without this error ERROR 1206 (HY000): The total number of locks exceeds the lock table size So I wrote a script to delete 100,000 rows 10,000 at a time. It ran once but when I run it a second time I get the error on the first attempt to delete 10,000. The way I'm trying to delete the 10,000 rows is to use a delete statement that refers to all 2 million rows but I use a limit clause to affect only 10,000. I've tried adding an "unlock tables;" statement to the script before the first delete but that doesn't help. I still get the lock table error on the first delete. Any ideas how I can do this? Is there a way I can tell it NOT to lock records? I can make sure nothing else is accessing the table.

  • SQL Server 2008 - Error starting service - model.mdf not found?!

    my SQL server 2008 was running fine. About an hour ago, it suddenly stopped - the MSSQLSERVER service had stopped I right clicked, clicked start, and it said the service had started, and stopped I looked in the event log and saw these two errors: 17207 : udopen: Operating system error 3(error not found) during the creation/opening of physical device C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\data\model.mdf. 17204 : FCB::Open failed: Could not open device C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\data\model.mdf for virtual device number (VDN) 1. The model.mdf db has NEVER been in that location - i specified drive F: to use for data / log during install. I checked the SQL Configuration Manager, to try and set startup params, but SQL Server is not listed as one of the services..... EDIT: I've now moved the db to where it was looking for: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\data\ directory. Now if I start the service, it still does not work - i get this error message in the log: Could not find row in sysindexes for database ID 3, object ID 1, index ID 1. Run DBCC CHECKTABLE on sysindexes. Interestingly, i checked the error log - around the time users reported problems, there is this: 2010-01-08 17:11:26.44 spid51 Configuration option 'show advanced options' changed from 0 to 1.   • How to avoid keyboard hide & show when focus changes from UITextField and UIWebView?

    I have a requirement in which the view contains one native UITextField and one UIWebView. The issue is if I switch the focus from UITextView to UIWebView, the keyboard window flicker(hides and then shows). ie, I got UIKeyboardWillHideNotification and UIKeyboardDidShowNotification But, this is not happening when I switch the other way. ies, I got only UIKeyboardDidShowNotification Is there any way to avoid this flickering effect? Note: I also notices if I have multiple UITextField and UIWebView, this issue is not happening with the same type of views.

    I studied the new MERGE Statement and there is a nice example for importing a flatfile. INSERT <Table> SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET BULK <Import-Flat-File>, <Format-File>... seems to be a good replacment for such a simple job and avoids to build a SSIS-Package. EXEC XP_CMDSHELL bcp <Table or View> out <Flat-File> ... is almost simpler than building an SSIS, isn't it? (I know that the MERGE-Statement doesn't run on a SQL2005)

    Need to dump an MPEG2 file in a loop, either to stdout or a named pipe. This works: $ { while : ; do cat myLoop.mpg; done; } | vlc - This works on a text file containing "1234\n": $ mkfifo myPipe $ cat test.txt > myPipe & < myPipe tee -a myPipe | cat - (it correctly loops, outputting "1234" on every line). Why does the following NOT work? $ cat myLoop.mpg > myPipe & < myPipe tee -a myPipe | vlc myPipe I'm primarily interested in re-writing the first statement to remove the improper "cat myLoop.mpg" statement. Will be inputting into VLC, or into FFMPEG and then piped into VLC.

Is this because of the fact that I don't have a default value defined in the switch? When the SetControlNumbers() method is called, the string on which it operates have already been validated and checked to see that it conforms to the specification and that the various Substring calls in the switch will generate a string containing 4 chars. I'm just curious as to why it says there is 1 untested block. I'm no unit test guru at all, so I'd love some feedback on this. Also, how can I improve on the conversion after the switch to make it safer other than adding a try-catch block and check for FormatExceptions and OverflowExceptions?

I've tried stuff like: cin input; switch (input) { case (1): // do stuff case (2): // ... } but then I've had the problem of sub-menus, and going back to the same menu, etc. The first program I wrote (apart from exercises) that tried to use the switch idea for the menus had goto statements because the alternative was heaps of (at the time) complicated loops.

    I have an authority string defined as such: public final static String AUTHORITY = "dsndata.sds2mobile.jobprovider"; Followed by an edition to the UriMatcher: uriMatcher.addURI(JobMetaData.AUTHORITY, "/JobNames/*", JOBNAME_SINGLE_URI); The uri that gets passed to the switch is: content://dsndata.sds2mobile.jobprovider/JobNames/test This falls through the switch and hits the default (which throws an IllegalArgumentException). Am I missing something? I've searched and can't find anything that would account for the mismatch.

    Simple question. I'm working in Excel 2007, and I want to convert 1000 grams into 1 kilogram when I input 1000g into a particular cell. So I decided to create the if statement below. However there is a problem with this. It's stating that it is a Circular Reference, and leaves me with a 0 value. Is there a simple way to fix this issue in excel?   • my Search method is coming up with all nulls

    Let me give a quick explanation. I took a 5 week course through a company on Java in July. They covered basic stuff, like console app, crud operations, mysql, and n-tier architecture. Since the course ended I didn't use it much because I went back to work, and other medical reasons surfaced....blah blah. I was told by the company to make a simple program to reflect what I learned. Turns out I retained very little. I decided to make a video game starage program. It would be used to stare your video games so you wouldn't have to search your bookcase(or how ever you store your games.) It is a basic console app using the crud operations with MYSQL. I can't get my search function to actually work. I have 2 layers a Presentation layer and a Logic layer.
