• Google Blogger Website CName and/or Text File Issues

  I have a blogger Blog website and I would like to have it show up on my company website. I have read a couple articles out there on how to do it. A hand full of them talk about using FTP which is old and no longer available. However, I am trying to following along with this one: http://www.infinite42.com/small-business/integrate-blogger-blog-website Which seems pretty easy but I am having a problem getting Google to Verify the DNS CName or Text Record that I created on my Windows 2007 Server. Do I need to create this record at the registra level. Right now the domain is setup at the registra to point the www record to my server where on my server I tried the Txt Record and the CName Record with no luck in DNS. Here are the Google instructions for creating a CName file record in DNS: Follow the steps below to create a DNS (Domain Name System) record that proves to Google that you own the domain. Add the CNAME record below to the DNS configuration for abc.com. CNAME Label / Host: CNAME Destination / Target: Click Verify below. When Google finds this DNS record, we'll make you a verified owner of the domain. (Note: DNS changes may take some time. If we don't find the record immediately, we'll check for it periodically.) To stay verified, don't remove the DNS record, even after verification succeeds. • String patterns that can be used to filter and group files

  One of our application filters files in certain directory, extract some data from it and export a document from the extracted data. The algorithm for extracting the data depends on the file, and so far we use regex to select the algorithm to be used, for example .*\.txt will be processed by algorithm A, foo[0-5]\.xml will be processed by algo B, etc. However now we need some files to be processed together. For example, in one case we need two files, foo.*\.xml and bar.*\.xml. Part of the information to be extracted exist in the foo file, and the other part in the bar file. Moreover, we need to make sure the wild card is compatible. For example, if there are 6 files foo1.xml foo23.xml bar1.xml bar9.xml bar23.xml foo4.xml I would expect foo1 and bar1 to be identified as a group, and foo23 and bar23 as another group. bar9 and foo4 has no pair, so they will not be treated. Now, since the filter is configured by user, we need to have a pattern that can express the above requirement. I don't think you can express meaning like above in standard regex. (foo|bar).*\.xml will match all 6 file above and we can't identify which file is paired for a particular file. Is there any standard pattern that can express it? Or any idea how to modify regex to support this, that can be implemented easily?

• Why do people crawl sites without downloading pictures?

  Let me show you what I mean: IP Pages Hits Bandwidth 85.xx.xx.xxx 236 236 735.00 KB 195.xx.xxx.xx 164 164 533.74 KB 95.xxx.xxx.xxx 90 90 293.47 KB It's very clear that these person are crawling my site with bots. There's no way that you could visit my site and use <1MB bandwidth. You might say that there's the possibility that they could be browsing the site using some browser or plug-in that does not download images, js/css files, etc., but the simple fact of the matter is that there are not 90-236 pages that are linked from the home page (outside of WP files), even if you visited every page twice. I could understand if these people were crawling the site for pictures, but once again, the bandwidth indicates that this isn't what is happening. Why, then, would they crawl the site to simply view the HTML/txt/js/etc. files? The only thing that I can come up with is that they are scanning for outdated versions of WordPress, SQL injection vulnerabilities, etc., which makes me inclined to outright ban the IPs, but I'm curious, is it possible that this person is a legitimate user, or at the very least, not intending to be harmful?

• You Can&rsquo;t Upload An Empty File To SharePoint 2007 Or SharePoint 2010

  The title of this post is pretty self explanatory, but I thought it worth mentioning since I had never run across this rule until just recently.  A few weeks ago I was testing out a new workflow attached to a SharePoint 2007 document library.  I uploaded various file types to ensure all were handled properly.  One of the files I happened to test with was an empty .txt file to which I got the following error.      As you can see from the error message you aren’t allowed to upload a file that is empty.  Fast forward to this week when I was doing some research for my upcoming SharePoint 2010 beta exams.  I remembered that error I got a few weeks ago and decided to try out with SharePoint 2010 as well.  No surprises I got a similar error. Conclusion     Next time you are uploading files to a SharePoint 2007 or 2010 document library, make sure the file is not empty.  Coincidentally when I tweeted about this issue a few friends replied that they had also found this error recently.  I don’t know the internal reasoning why this is prevented but I assume it has something to do with how the blob for the file is stored in the database.  I assume that this would still be the case even if you had Remote Blob Storage (RBS) configured for your farm, but don’t have access to such a farm to confirm.  If anyone reading this does have access and wants to confirm that would be appreciated, just leave a comment.         -Frog Out

• Looking for someone to point me in the right direction. I want to learn how to use hosted servers

  TL;DR: I want a Java program to run on a server, I want the server to forward a particular port from external to internal IP, I want store a few files on the server. Guides please. So I made a hack job Java program that acts as a server for my android application. It stores data in text files and HTML files, uploads them via FTP to my webhost, and manages socket connections (using port forwarding) with any phones connected. Right now I'm running it on NetBeans on my home computer. I know that it will probably slow down or crash once about 50 phones are connected at once. Is there any way I can run this program on a server with a high bandwidth? Can someone please find me a guide for that? I'm noob and don't know where to start looking. I seriously don't know anything about renting or using servers - I need a nice guide, and recommendations. My requirements for the server: Can handle about 2k socket connections at once Can run my Java code and store my txt files Can give me a port and an IP address so TCP/IP clients can be connected My budget: $50 CAD per month. Please someone set my ship sailing in the right direction, I really don't know where to look for resources.

I have a PHP file (which consumers a National Weather Service web service via SOAP, if it matters) that I need to run on a scheduled basis. I'm trying to set up a cron job in Webmin. I've never worked with webmin before; most of our hosts' cron control panels allow cron jobs to run PHP files like this with no issue. Is there some trick to getting webmin to read php as actual php?

• Calling a .NET C# class from XSLT

  If you've ever worked with XSLT, you'd know that it's pretty limited when it comes to its programming capabilities. Try writing a for loop in XSLT and you'd know what I mean. XSLT is not designed to be a programming language so you should never put too much programming logic in your XSLT. That code can be a pain to write and maintain and so it should be avoided at all costs. Keep your xslt simple and put any complex logic that your xslt transformation requires in a class. Here is how you can create a helper class and call that from your xslt.   I sold my old laptop to neighbours and it was stolen from them. Well i think i have found thief so i want to check his computer id and compare it to my old Launchpad bugs id. How in Launchpad i can find from my bugs: Motherboard HDD Somthing else that can help identify it Maybe how to recover or find some overwritten files (couse now there is windows) I found in Launchpad one my bugs has LSPCI autogenerated from bug 682846 https://launchpadlibrarian.net/70611231/Lspci.txt but i dont see any id that can be used to identify specificly my comp. This can be used to identify many same models. Or i missed something in there? And what commands should i use to get all identification on that comp in one go fast? Just lspci? How to get same lspci as it is in that Launchpad link? Now testing laspci on my computer i dont get so much info. Also im now doing a search in my external hdd where i have many backups and maybe i have there result from lspci. So what containing keywords would help doing search with for small lspci and full reports ive done? I might have done sudo lshw somefilename

• Construction Paper, Legos, and Architectural Modeling

  I can remember as a kid playing with construction paper and Legos to explore my imagination. Through my exploration I was able to build airplanes, footballs, guns, and more, out of paper. Additionally I could create entire cities, robots, or anything else I could image out of Legos.  These toys, I now realize were in fact tools that gave me an opportunity to explore my ideas in the physical world through the use of modeling.  My imagination was allowed to run wild as I, unknowingly at the time, made design decisions that directly affected the models I was building from the raw materials.  To prove my point further, I can remember building a paper airplane that seemed to go nowhere when I tried to throw it. So I decided to attach a paper clip to the plane before I decided to throw it the next time to test my concept that by adding more weight to the plane that it would fly better and for longer distances. The paper airplane allowed me to model my design decision through the use of creating an artifact in that I created a paper airplane that was carrying extra weight through the incorporation of the paper clip in to the design. Also, I remember using Legos to build all sorts of creations, and these creations became artifacts of my imagination. As I further and further defined my Lego creations through the process of playing I was able to create elaborate artifacts of my imagination. These artifacts represented design decision I had made in the evolution of my creation through my child like design process. In some form or fashion the artifacts I created as a kid are very similar to the artifacts that I create when I model a software architectural concept or a software design in that the process of making decisions is directly translated in to a tangible model in the form of an architectural model. Architectural models have been defined as artifacts that depict design decisions of a system’s architecture.  The act of creating architectural models is the act of architectural modeling. Furthermore, architectural modeling is the process of creating a physical model based architectural concepts and documenting these design decisions. In the process of creating models, the standard notation used is Architectural modeling notation. This notation is the primary method of capturing the essence of design decisions regarding architecture.  Modeling notations can vary based on the need and intent of a project; typically they range from natural language to a diagram based notation. Currently, Unified Markup Language (UML) is the industry standard in terms of architectural modeling notation  because allows for architectures to be defined through a series of boxes, lines, arrows and other basic symbols that encapsulate design designs in to virtual components, connectors, configurations and interfaces.  Furthermore UML allows for additional break down of models through the use of natural language as to explain each section of the model in plain English. One of the major factors in architectural modeling is to define what is to be modeled. As a basic rule of thumb, I tend to model architecture based on the complexity of systems or sub sub-systems of architecture. Another key factor is the level of detail that is actually needed for a model. For example if I am modeling a system for a CEO to view then the low level details will be omitted. In comparison, if I was modeling a system for another engineer to actually implement I would include as much detailed information as I could to help the engineer implement my design.

I have installed Windows, and with Windows 7 installed, all audio hardware works properly, so this isn't a hardware fault. I've looked at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HdaIntelSoundHowto and have been unable to find my card in http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt . I have tried adding almost every conceivable model in the line "options snd-hda-intel model=MODEL" line I added to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. Update 2011-11-09 2:31 PM PST: I've gone to Control Center - Sound Preferences to attempt settings that make sound work. The "Hardware" tab shows one device: "Internal Audio 1 Output / 1 Input Analog Stereo Duplex." There are two output profiles listed in the selection box at the bottom of the tag: Analog Stereo Duplex and Analog Stereo Output. Neither cause sound to emit from the speakers. I've also run alsamixer on the command-line and ensured that everything is set to maximum and nothing is muted. Update 2011-11-09 5:15 PM PST: I've replicated the exact same symptoms in 11.10. • nautilus crash when merging/overwriting files

  On my Ubuntu 10.10, whenever I want to copy some files/folders over some other files/folders, or when I try to empty the trash, nautilus crashes! Example: I have a folder with some files. Now I want to overwrite this folder with a folder with the same name, same files, but some additional files, the merge window comes up, I choose merge and nautilus crashes (does not respond, when I press the close button I can force close it). Some times it even does the copying/emptying (trash), but it always crashes! This happens when copying to the same partition/ntfs partition/netshares, but not when I make a new folder and copy the files/folders into that (without overwriting anything). On a netshare, it's even possible to merge these files afterwards with another computer! dmesg/syslog/messages does not show any entry related to that problem. Does anyone have a solution for this very annoying problem? EDIT: dpkg -l nautilus* (see output in pastebin) EDIT2: I found out, nautilus already crashes before clicking replace/merge (as soon as the question appeares. In the video it's not entirely clear, that i click the cross before the force-close dialog appeares. • Parsing mathematical experssions with two values that have parenthesis and minus signs

  I'm trying to parse equations like these which only has two values or the square root of a certain value from a text file: 100+100 -100-100 -(100)+(-100) sqrt(100) by the minues signs, parenthesis and the operator symbol in the middle and the square root, and I have no idea how to start off... • Scripting language for filling out web form

  I have a job as an intern at a technology company, I was given the unfortunate job of performing some data entry into our web management system. The information entered into the web form is stored in a MySQL DB. Upon receiving the data I realized I would have to submit this online form about 1000 different times all consisting of about 10 different text fields / check boxes per form. (So in other words, would be completely mind numbing and be a ridiculous waste of time and resources, or so I thought...) Having used databases a good bit prior to this, my immediate reaction was to just write a short MySQL script to bulk import all of the data, especially since it was already presented to me in an excel spreadsheet ready to go. Thought it may have been some sort of a test since it seemed too obvious. I wrote the script which consisted of about 10 lines of code but was then informed I couldn't be trusted with MySQL Admin privileges to run said script. So my next thought would be to write a script to just enter the information through the web form (Which will take ten times longer but it's what I have to) Being unfamiliar with scripting of this nature (seems like I would need something similar to a bot, but the good kind) I was unsure of how to proceed to do this. Is there a preferred language to use to enter the data i have into the web form I do have access to? I'm not particularly looking for this to be done for me by any means just a nice point in the right direction as far as what scripting language to use and how to pair that with the data I have that needs to be entered. Thanks for the help/ valuable input! EDIT: Is there a way to perform this using perl without having access to place any files on the server? Would I be able to run some Javascript loops to pull the data out of .csv or just a .txt format with line delimiters and insert it into the web form?

• Double entries in the gnome 3 task bar

  I am running Ubuntu 12.04 with Gnome 3. All was working well except that graphics were slow and even moving a window on the screen seemed slow. I installed the fglrx ati driver. Which seems to have improved matters. But on first login I had all gnome items duplicated. That is my task bar has the ubuntu sign, then says Applications, then places then the ubuntu sign then Aplications and then places. Any application I run produces two icons at the bottom of the screen. This was after a reboot. I rebooted again. Now I have 3!! On the right each set of icons such as printer is also trippled!! • Who should have full visibility of all (non-data) requirements information?

  I work at a smallish mid-size company where requirements are sometimes nothing more than an email or brief meeting with a subject matter manager requiring some new feature. Should a programmer working on a feature reasonably expect to have access to such "request emails" and other requirements information? Is it more appropriate for a "program manager" (PGM) to rewrite all requirements before sharing with programmers? The company is not technology-centric and has between 50 and 250 employees. (fewer than 10 programmers in sum) Our project management "software" consists of a "TODO.txt" checked into source control in "/doc/". Note: This is nothing to do with "sensitive data access". Unless a particular subject matter manager's style of email correspondence is top secret. Given the suggested duplicate, perhaps this could be a turf war, as the PGM would like to specify HOW. Whereas WHY is absent and WHAT is muddled by the time it gets through to the programmer(s)... Basically. Should specification be transparent to programmers? Perhaps a history of requirements might exist. Shouldn't a programmer be able to see that history of reqs if/when they can tell something is hinky in the spec? This isn't a question about organizing requirements. It is a question about WHO should have full VISIBILITY of requirements. I'd propose it should be ALL STAKEHOLDERS. Please point out where I'm wrong here.
