  • Recover windows cached domain password

    I have a computer from another small organization that works with our school. It was previously joined to another domain from elsewhere. The organization doesn't have an IT person so they didn't think of what they needed to do about the information on the computer before they moved it to our school. The previous user of the computer is no longer with the organization so no information about the password. The computer has information that needs to be accessed and programs so putting the hard drive on another computer and grabbing the information is a no go as I need the computer itself to be working as well. The computer is running Windows Vista Business Edition and is joined to a domain with a cached profile. The admin accounts are disabled by GPO. I've been asked to see if I could recover the password but running ophcrack gave me no hits on the cached profile. I'm not too familiar with password recovery tools that would work on a cached profile from a domain so I'm looking for answers here. Any other suggestions? Preferably something free as we're a small school and an easy to use liveCD solution like ophcrack would be appreciated.

  • Begin game programming basics

    My 14 year old kid brother wants to learn to program games. He has never programmed but would like to learn programming. His interest lies with games and game programming and he understands that it can be difficult but he wants to do that. So, obviously, I turned to SO folks to know what you feel on how he should go about it. Remember, please suggest on Areas that beginners can choose, how to begin in that area, what to read in the beginning, initial languages in the beginning etc. Once the beginning part is taken care of, you may also suggest the intermediate and advanced stuff but this question is about very beginning level. If there are areas like Web games Vs. console games Vs generic computer games, then please advice on the areas. As I said he has never programmed, he might want to try all the areas and choose the one he likes the best. I hope this is not too much to ask for someone who is in this field but if this question is huge, please advice on how to break it into multiple questions. ~Thanks.

  • Windows 7 BSOD, safe mode working,

    I need help getting my dualboot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 to work, and since I'm not to experienced with computers I've been pretty dumb. Here's what I've done, quite shortend though: First removed a Ubuntu 10.04 partion, and replaced bootloader using EasyBCD Installed Ubuntu 12.04 on same partion as before Decided I need more space so I shrinked my C: partion (Windows partion) using Here, after rebooting my computer, I was stuck a grub rescue, when booting up the computer I fixed that by using SuperGrubDisk Rescatux and then using my Windows Vista install disk to repair the computer (computer is using Windows 7) I know re-installed Ubuntu 12.04 on the linux partion and got the GRUB-bootloader working Then, after using my computer for several hours, I installed beta drivers (version 304.79) for my GeForce GTS 240 and then rebooted my computer. At the first boot (after reboot) my computer just crashed, and here I am When trying to boot Windows 7 now I get a Blue Screen Of Death. I can though boot in to safe mode with everything working. I have uninstalled the beta drivers and installed the same one as before but still the same problem. I have tried all the commands in Bootrec.exe and none is working. I can't neither find an OS when using Bootrec.exe/ScanOs. I have also tried running: sfc/scannow and that comes out clean. Short: My harddrive and files seems to be intact but when booting I get bluescreen. I can though boot in to safemode with everything working. I need help Thanks to anyone who even took the time to read that. //mil0ck

    Hi, I made already a few simple games: enter a level, get up to the end, continue to the next level. But I'm still wondering how "real" game developers create games with a story. Here are a few things what a story game has (and where I'm wondering about how they make it) : A sequence of places the player have to visit and do there that, that and that. The first time you see a guy, he says just hello. After a few hours game progress, he gives you a hint to go to a specific place. The first time you walk over a bridge nothing happens, a second time: the bridge falls and you will enter a new location under the bridge. The first time you enter a new location, you will get a lot of information from e.g. villagers, etc. Next time nothing happens The last points are a bit three times the same. But, I don't think they have a save-file with a lot of booleans and integers for holding things like: Player did the first time .... Player enters the tenth time that location Player talked for the ###th time to that person etc When I talk about story games, I'm thinking to: The Legend of Zelda (all games of the serie) Okami And this are a few examples of level-in-level-out games: Mario Braid Crayon Physics Thanks

  • is it possible that a greasemonkey script can work on one computer but not on another?

The constraints are: Laptop is out of battery and there are no free sockets. You're bored of the book you're reading or you have none with you.   • Pygame's Message-multiple lines?

    I am using pygame and livewires (though I don't think that part is relevant here) to create a game. I've got the game working, but I'm trying to make something akin to a title screen before the game starts. However, it doesn't recognize when I try to make a new line appear. Here is what I have: begin_message=games.Message(value=""" Destroy the Bricks!\n In this game, you control a paddle,\n controlled by your mouse,\n and attempt to destroy all the rows of bricks.\n Careful though, you only have 1 life.\n Don't mess up! The game will start in\n 5 seconds.""", size=30, x=games.screen.width/2, y=games.screen.height/2, lifetime=500, color=color.white, is_collideable=False) games.screen.add(begin_message) The message appears on the screen, but the newline doesn't happen, so I can only read the first part of the message. Is there a way to make this message actually appear, or can I not use the 'Message' for this?

  • Why can't I connect to my home SSH (SFTP) server? What am I doing wrong?

    I am new to this topic of creating a SFTP server on one's computer. I would like to be able to access the folder on my Windows XP computer via SFTP from another computer or a phone. The following is what I have done so far: I have installed SSH Windows and everything is setup correctly because I can access it (the folder on my pc) via WinSCP. I however cannot access it from my phone. It doesn't connect. The phone can be on the same wireless network as the Windows XP computer, but I would prefer to be able to access this when not in the same network. Now, from what I have read and understood, the following is the information needed to connect: 1) Host Name: This would be my computer's ip address which I access by typing ipconfig in a cmd prompt (I access this easily on my computer because I simply put in localhost or 127.0.0.1) 2) Port Number: That would be port 22 (I have also added this to my router in the port forwarding section). 3) Username: This would be my Windows XP username. This however is my full name, including my middle initial followed by a period. I am wondering if this is maybe causing problems in accessing it from my phone, since the name has spaces and punctuation (the period). 4) Password: The password of my Windows XP computer Extra Info: When I say phone, I mean an Android phone and I am using an ftp / sftp app to access my pc via the phone's cellular network (I also tried the wireless, but that didn't work as well). I have tried more than one program. On one program it tells me Connection timed out and on another it tells me "timeout:socket is not established" Also, I know that I can use the site noip, but I prefer to connect this way first. Also, because I am new to this, I would like to look into what exactly noip is doing and if they would be seeing my files as they are transferred from phone to pc.     I have a really crappy VPS, and a really good computer at my office (with a really good internet connection), but behind a NAT. Is it possible to expose my good computer by doing this: 1. The good computer connects to the VPS (and keeps the connection alive) 2. The users connects to the VPS, and sends http(s) requests to the VPS. 3. The VPS just passes that http(s) requests to the good computer (including some identifications, so the servers can distinguish connections) 4. The good computer passes that http(s) response to the VPS 5. In turn, the VPS receives the http(s) response, and passes back to the client. Is it possible to do this? (btw, the VPS and the good computer are located in different countries) And also, is this "reverse proxy"? I heard that reverse proxy is for protecting the internal network by putting a middle server. And will this affect SSL configurations? (or make SSL impossible?) I'm intending to run nginx on the good computer. Thanks in advance : )

    I want to pull from my database records corresponding to parent_id, like this: function getChildren($id, $parent_id) { $q = $this->db->select('id, name, slug, plat'); $q = $this->db->from('games'); $q = $this->db->where('parent_id',$id); $q = $this->db->or_where('id',$parent_id); $q = $this->db->get(); return $q->result_array(); } It - if it's a children game - get parent_id and search for a game with such id and for other games that has parent_id same as this one. If it's the parent game, it only looks for games with parent_id same as it's id. The problem is... it's not always working. I have four games in db: id | parent_id | title 15 | 0 | Abe 19 | 15 | Abe 20 | 0 | RE2 21 | 20 | RE2 DS First two works, last two - only children (id = 21) shows parent.
