• .NET Regular Expression to split multiple words or phrases

  I'm using the code below to take a string and split it up into an array. It will take: Disney Land and make it two separate elements. If the string contains "Disney Land" then it is one element in the array. Works great, however it adds some empty elements to the array each time. So I just iterate over the elements and remove them if they are empty. Is there a tweak to the code below that will prevent those empty elements from occurring? • Error including image in Latex

  I am getting the following error while compiling my Latex File : ! LaTeX Error: Cannot determine size of graphic in tree.jpg (no BoundingBox). Why do I get this error ? What has this to do with an .eps file ? Infact, I could compile it fine with MacTex on my machine. But when I submit it online to a scientific journal for publication, it compiles it on the server and sends me the resultant PDF which as all these error that prevent it from compiling. I am using the following syntax for including the images : \begin{figure}[!h] \begin{center} \scalebox{0.45}{ \includegraphics{tree.jpg}} \end{center} \caption{\small A sample} \label{tree} \end{figure} What should I do ? Could it be that their server is using an old compiler ? UPDATE : It finally worked. I converted the first image to PDF and the compilation happened perfectly. I guess it used the bounding box value from that PDF and applied it to all images.

  I have a Git repository with a branch that hardly ever changes (nobody else is contributing to it). It is basically the master branch with some code and files stripped out. Having this branch around makes it easy for me to package up a leaner version of my project without having to strip out the code and files manually every time. I have been using git rebase to keep this branch up to date with the master but I always get this warning when I try to push the branch after rebasing: To prevent you from losing history, non-fast-forward updates were rejected Merge the remote changes before pushing again. See the 'Note about fast-forwards' section of 'git push --help' for details. I then use git push --force and it works but I feel like this is probably bad practice. I want to keep this branch "in sync" with the master quickly and easily. Is there a better way of handling this task?

• Consuming all touchEvents not preventing scrolling on the blackberry storm

  Hello, I am trying to make a custom control for the BlackBerry Storm using SDK v5.0. This control needs to disable scrolling while the user is dragging elements within a field. The problem is that even if I my control consumes every single touch event send to it, when the user lifts their finger off the screen it still flings up or down as if its finishing a scroll action. Does anyone know of a way to prevent this from happening or what I might be doing wrong ? Thank you.

I've seen from previous questions and the jQuery website that .stopPropagation prevents bubbling upwards, but how do I prevent a bubble downwards (isn't that what's necessary here?).

  Hi everyone... i have a webservice that i want to test by typing the url in the address bar in the web browser localhost:1981/myProject/admin/autocomplete.asmx and when i do this it gives this compilation error CS0234: The type or namespace name 'Oledb' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Data' (are you missing an assembly reference?) i know this is because we added this in our web.config <add namespace="System.Data.Oledb"/> <add namespace ="System.Data"/> in the namespaces section..... when i call this web service through ajax it works but if i try to test it it gives this error. Is there any way to prevent this?

This works, but the problem I have is that, for longer pages, the page is briefly visible with the wrong styles before the javascript kicks in and transforms the page. • SVN Path Based Authorization: Granting listing access but not read access

  Hello, We're using path-based-authorization module for Apache SVN. It all works fine, except that when users try to check out code they have access to, their SVN clients get confused if they don't have at least read access to the parent directories - all the way up to root. It works, but some clients just get confused sometimes. Because SVN path-based-authorization is recursively applied, we don't want to give all users read access to root, because that would give them access to all source code in the repository. It would, however, be acceptable if users could get directory listings (just not actual lines of code) for the entire repository. This would prevent the svn clients from getting confused. Does any one know how to grant permissions to get directory listings without granting permissions to the actual contents of the files? Thanks!

  The question is simple: what is lifetime of that functor object that is automatically generated for me by the C++ compiler when I write a lambda-expression? I did a quick search, but couldn't find a satisfactory answer. In particular, if I pass the lambda somewhere, and it gets remembered there, and then I go out of scope, what's going to happen once my lambda is called later and tries to access my stack-allocated, but no longer alive, captured variables? Or does the compiler prevent such situation in some way? Or what?

  I am looking to allow HTML emails (and other HTML uploads) without letting in scripts and stuff. I plan to have a white list of safe tags and attributes as well as a whitelist of CSS tags and value regexes (to prevent automatic return receipt). I asked a question: Parse a badly formatted XML document (like an HTML file) I found there are many many ways to do this. Some systems have built in sanitizers (which I don't care so much about). I will post some answers and say Community Wiki. Please post any other options you like and say Community Wiki so they can be voted on. Also any comments or wiki edits on what part of a certain product is better and what is not would be greatly appreciated.   I have an object (a UIViewController) which may or may not conform to a protocol I've defined. I know I can determine if the object conforms to the protocol, then safely call the method: if([self.myViewController conformsToProtocol:@protocol(MyProtocol)]) { [self.myViewController protocolMethod]; // <-- warning here } However, XCode shows a warning: warning 'UIViewController' may not respond to '-protocolMethod' What's the right way to prevent this warning? • What *collaborative* wireframing / UI mockup tools are out there?

  I'm looking for something that applies the collaboration focus (one location/URL, always up-to-date, multi-person online read/write access anywhere) of google docs / google spreadsheets to wireframing. Bonus points if, like Google Docs, it needs only a browser yet also works offline. More bonus points if it supports automatic revisions. Even more bonus points if you can hand out login-less 'invitation' URLs like Flickr does, instead of forcing people into signing up for accounts or using their home accounts. To start off, there's one called iPlotz, but it didn't enchant me -- ironically, mostly because of its akward UI, which can't hold a candle to omnigraffle (don't let that prevent you from giving it a try though). And no, paper prototyping, wonderful as it is, does not qualify: it does not combine being instantly globally shareable & editable very well :-)

I want to simulate click on "add another item" using jquery. which is like $('#edit-field-supp-quan-field-supp-quan-add-more').trigger('click'); but it causes whole content form to submit instead of adding extra multi value cck field. Manuall clicks are working perfectly.   I am using wamp and creating a Joomla template with changeable parameters. initially the message is The parameter file \templates\ssc_2010\params.ini is writable! once I make changes everything works as expected, except now i get the message: The parameter file \templates\ssc_2010\params.ini is unwritable! One solution is to brows to the directory, right click the file, select properties, and uncheck read-only. Again the file is writable but once I modify the parameters again it becomes read only again. I'm quite lazy and would like to prevent this from happening again, I've notice this happening in past projects, but now I have to work a lot with parameters so it becomes quite boring doing manual labor like that :P

• IE6 HTML control wrapping

  Is there any way to prevent wrapping across controls in IE6? For example, I have a label and a single select box. The select box width is dynamic (depending on the content). I want the label to always be to the left of the select box. Right now the problem I am having is the select box drops below the label. I have tried using the <nobr> tag as well as CSS word-wrap rules, but because this isn't text the wrapping rules do not apply. The only way I have found for sure to make it work is to place them in a two-column table, but I do not like this solution. Is there any other way?

  I'm trying to use <canvas> in iPhone Safari, and if I place the element in the body, there are unused pixels to the left and top of the element. I tried specifying margin:0;padding:0 with CSS to no avail. • Java threadpool functionality

  Hi stackoverflow, I need to make a program with a limited amount of threads (currently using newFixedThreadPool) but I have the problem that all threads get created from start, filling up memory at alarming rate. I wish to prevent this. Threads should only be created shortly before they are executed. e.g.: I call the program and instruct it to use 2 threads in the pool. The program should create & launch the first 2 Threads immediately (obviously), create the next 2 to wait for the previous 2, and at that point wait until one or both of the first 2 ended executing. I thought about extending executor or FixedThreadPool or such. However I have no clue on how to start there and doubt it is the best solution. Easiest would have my main Thread sleeping on intervals, which is not really good either... Thanks in advance!

• Is the javaScript not part of the DOM?

  Why is it that scripts can still function even after the code used to create them is removed from the DOM? I ran into a situation where I wanted to prevent a broken script from running (@see my post). In my attempt to come up with a solution I wrote an extension with the following line (just to see what would happen). //doc is passed here because this script is running as a firefox extension outside //of the document context. $('script', doc).remove(); I assumed that this would remove all the scripts from the DOM, which it did, and that therefore no scripts would run on the page, which is not the case. I would love to know more about what's behind this behavior.

• Java and gstreamer-java initialisation error

  I am building a small app which will play streaming audio from the internet in java (mainly internet radio stations). I have decided to use the gstreamer-java library for the sound, which uses JNA. I would like to include a check in the code, to see whether the gstreamer library has been initialised. When I have left the "Gst.init()" code out (to mimic when the library has not been initialised correctly), the application throws out the following messages: (process:21888): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.22.3/gobject/gtype.c:2458: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function (process:21888): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed The app calls the gstreamer-java library. The error messages appear but the thread continues to run, hogging the CPU. Is there any way to catch the error or to add a check to prevent it from happening? An alternative would be to put the "Gst.init()" in the main class, but I am not sure if this would always guarantee the gstreamer library is initialised.

Is there a way to cancel user registration, when a new user submits the registration web form with the default Robot value? (i.e. only Male and Female values are allowed). I've looked at the core Trigger module, but don't see anything suitable there. I've looked at the hook_user_presave and hook_user_insert API docs, but don't see a way there to cancel an ongoing user registration. (I was expecting to do that by returning a special value from those methods...) Thank you! Alex

• Filtering custom fields on wordpress admin page

  I'm currently working on a wordpress 2.9.2 plugin (my first) that creates additional custom fields that will later be read from the template. The plugin adds an additional meta box to the "Edit Post" screen which is responsible for manipulating these values. My problem is that the custom fields generated by the plugin also show up in the "Custom Fields" box. Ideally I would like for the custom fields generated by the plugin to be managed separately from any other custom fields for that same post/page. Is there a way that I can filter fields specific to my plugin to prevent them from being displayed in the "Custom Fields" box? I have yet to locate any action or filter that will let me capture and manipulate those values before they are rendered on "Edit Post".
