• Why my VPN doesn't work anymore?

  I have openvpn server running on debian lenny. There is only one client - and it is running Windows 7 64-bit. This has worked for few months without any problems. And now, let's say for the last 7 days, it doesn't work at all. I connect successfully from client to the server, but I can't access anything through VPN. I have set it up so that all internet traffic is routed through VPN, and now when I connect with the client, the client can't do anything on the net (open any webpage, ping google, anything ...). Can you help me to figure out what's wrong ? I don't know where to start. I've also tried to connect to another openvpn server (I've installed and configured openvpn on another server, and when I try to connect to it result is the same). So I think there's something wrong with client ... • DNS works only with ip but does not work with NS CentOS + Bind9

  I am having a headache with DNS. Lets say my public IP is 1.2.3.4, my local IP is 192.168.0.10 and my domain is example.com I am running CentOS on a virtual machine (Parallels Desktop for Mac) with a LAN card reserved for it, so it gets Ip directly from the router. I have ports 80,443,53 forwarded to 192.168.0.10. Both Mac OS and CentOs firewalls are Off. • UpdatePanel + ToolkitScriptManager work in FF but blows up in IE 6+

  I just upgraded my ASP.NET application from AjaxToolkit version 1.0 to version 3.5. The only code that I had to change as a result of the upgrade was to replace instances of ScriptManager with ToolKitScriptManager. UpdatePanels that used to work flawlessly in both FF and IE6+ now only work in FF. The specific problem in IE is twofold: PostBackTriggers don't perform any PostBack at all (i.e button clicks do nothing) AsyncPostBackTriggers do perform an async PostBack, but outside of a single hidden field (created by the ToolKitScriptManager itself) no ViewState is being sent back to the server for any controls. Needless to say, controls tend to fail in rather spectacular fashion when they can't access their ViewState during a PostBack. :) The only thing I can think of that would account for this only failing in IE6+, is that there is some malformed JavaScript getting piped down that FF is able to work around/ignore but that causes IE to self-destruct Downgrading to the 1.0 version of AjaxToolkit would probably fix this issue, but there are several key features in the 3.5 I need to leverage so this would be painful.   I'm trying to spot-test an Oracle backed database with hsqldb and dbunit, but I've run into a snag. The problem is with the following EJB-QL (simplified a bit): SELECT o FROM Offer o WHERE :nowTime BETWEEN o.startDate AND o.startDate + 7 This seems to only work in Oracle's version of SQL. What's the easiest way for me to convert this to work in both hsqldb and oracle? Assume that changing the two between arguments to named parameters is a very difficult refactor, so I'm going to favor answers that provides a more standardized analog to o.startdate + 7 EDIT: After doing some more research, it looks like Oracle converts the above snippet to o.startdate + INTERVAL '7' DAY which is apparently more standard, but doesn't work in HSQLDB.

• Storing date and time as epoch vs native datetime format in the database

  For most of my tasks I find it much easier to work with date and time in the epoch format: it's trivial to calculate timespan or determine if some event happened before or after another, I don't have to deal with time-zone issues if the data comes from different geographical sources, in case of scripting languages what I usually get from database when I request a datetime-typed column is a string that I need to parse in order to work with it. This list can go on, but for me in order to keep my code portable that's enough to ditch database's native datetime format and store date and time as integer. What do you guys think?

"B-tree" concept here refers to a "tree of storage units" that hold the contents of an individual directory. What I don't understand is where on the disk is this tree stored? Its surely not created every-time we reboot...that would take lots of time. and since its a tree(dynamic Data structure) unlike arrays it will grow. so space needs to be allocated every-time it grows. so how is this "dynamic meta-data" stored ?

  I have got around 800 files of maximum 55KB-100KB each where the data is in this format Date/Time/Float1/Float2/Float3/Float4/Integer Date is in DD/MM/YYYY format and Time is in the format of HH:MM Here the date ranges from say 1st May to 1June and each day, the Time varies from 09:00 to 15:30. I want to run a program so that, for each file, it extracts the data pertaining to a particular given date and writes to a file. I will not face any problem in writing into directory operations. I am trying to get around, to form a to do a search and extract operation. I dont know, how to do it, would like to have some idea. Thanks Soham

• swf file upload control not filtering the files for the second time

  iam using swf file upload control in my application developed in asp.net & c#.net. i am having a dropdown box with file types like jpeg,.xls ,.txt etc. so when i select particular file type in the dropdown and clicking on the button would open a filedialog showing only the files of the type selected in the dropdown. The problem is that when i select "jpeg" for the first time file dialog shows only jpeg files. when i select ".xls" next time it shows again the prevoiusly selected jpeg files and not currently selected ".xls". but while debugging it was found the file type definition in the swf code has been changed to .xls . can any one guide why the file upload control not mapping the selected file for the second time

  I'm starting a project which I think will be particularly suited to MongoDB due to the speed and scalability it affords. The module I'm currently interested in is to do with real-time chat. If I was to do this in a traditional RDBMS I'd split it out into: Channel (A channel has many users) User (A user has one channel but many messages) Message (A message has a user) The the purpose of this use case, I'd like to assume that there will be typically 5 channels active at one time, each handling at most 5 messages per second. Specific queries that need to be fast: Fetch new messages (based on an bookmark, time stamp maybe, or an incrementing counter?) Post a message to a channel Verify that a user can post in a channel Bearing in mind that the document limit with MongoDB is 4mb, how would you go about designing the schema? What would yours look like? Are there any gotchas I should watch out for?

  Hi, I have 2 tables in the database with the following attributes: Booking ======= booking_id booking_start booking_end resource_booked =============== booking_id resource_id The second table is an associative entity between "Booking" and "Resource" (i.e., 1 booking can contain many resources). Attributes booking_start and booking_end are timestamps with date and time in it. May I know how I might be able to find out for each resource_id (resource_booked) if the date/time overlaps or clashes with other bookings of similar resource_id? I was doodling the answer on paper, pictorially, to see if it might help me visualize how I could solve this and I got this: Joining the 2 tables (Booking, Booked_resource) into one table with the 4 attributes needed.   I'm using Twitter4j and the Android Facebook SDK to fetch status messages. With Twitter4J I get real-time notifications whenever a new status has been added to the stream via StatusListener (Twitter4J). In the Facebook SDK I cannot find a similar way, I can only fetch entire streams over and over again in a fixed time interval using RequestListener (Facebook SDK) as far as I see it. Is there any way to get notified of new statuses in realtime with the Facebook SDK in a similar way as with Twitter4J? • Does NInject work in medium trust hosting?

  I'm doing shared hosting with GoDaddy and I developed a sample ASP.NET MVC app using Castle Windsor and unfortunately, it didn't work in a medium trust setting. Specifically, I got this error: "[SecurityException: That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers"... etc. GoDaddy is sadly not flexible in their trust policy. I'm not tied to Windsor and would like to try another one that will work under Medium Trust. I'd actually like to use NInject, but I've read people having mixed success. The only one I've read that works with no problem is Microsoft's Unity. My question is, does NInject work in medium trust? If not, what are my options?

• Changing timezone without changing time in Java

  Hi! I'm receiving a datetime from a SOAP webservice without timzone information. Hence, the Axis deserializer assumes UTC. However, the datetime really is in Sydney time. I've solved the problem by substracting the timezone offset: Calendar trade_date = trade.getTradeDateTime(); TimeZone est_tz = TimeZone.getTimeZone("Australia/Sydney"); long millis = trade_date.getTimeInMillis() - est_tz.getRawOffset(); trade_date.setTimeZone( est_tz ); trade_date.setTimeInMillis( millis ); However, I'm not sure if this solution also takes daylight saving into account. I think it should, because all operations are on UTC time. Any experiences with manipulating time in Java? Better ideas on how to solve this problem?
