• Relative Paths, etc. on an Apache server

  I'm really stuck here. I have 2 issues at once: First, my site is stored (both on local development and on live server), in a subdirectory.. as I'm working on multiple sites. i.e. /Sites/www.mysite.com/(site files here) When I'm referring to files in my web pages, I want to refer to, say, my /images directory without hard-coding every occurrence as /www.mysite.com/images/myfile.jpg Is there a way to simply redefine how the leading "/" gets interpreted by the server? Question two, concerning PHP mod_rewrite I have this set of rewrite rules. The objective is to turn www.mysite.com/faq into www.mysite.com/index.php?page="faq" RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !mysite.com RewriteRule (.*) mysite.com/$1 RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_-]+)$ /mysite.com/index.php?site=$1 RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_-]+)/$ /mysite.com/index.php?site=$1 I don't have a problem when a url gets passed in the 2nd-to-last format (as the example above). However, if the trailing "/" is added: www.mysite.com/faq/, my external script references break: (such as src=js/script.js)...

• How to catch specific exception without error number?

  I need to catch the following specific exception: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException was caught ErrorCode=-2147467259 Message="The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again." Source="Microsoft JET Database Engine" I'm not sure what ErrorCode is but it looks unreliable. Can I rely on Message being identical across platforms? Is the only solution to do a text search of Message for words like duplicate and primary key? Note: see my question here for why I need to catch this exception.

I was thinking of editing filter function to something like: $('total').filter(function(index) { var matches = ( ($("#price").slider("values", 0)) <= $(this).text() <= ($("#price").slider("values", 1))); return matches; }.myFunction(matches){ //do some stuff here with matched elements } This is not correct, your help is greatly appreciated.

  I have some grunt tasks to compile files and would like to "recicle" them inside different tasks. I am trying to modify the destination directory without success... My idea is something like: grunt.registerTask('bower', ['compile:index', 'compile:core'], function(){ this.options({dest: 'dist/*.js'}); }); The compile:index task runs good by itself (i.e. when called alone) and has dest: 'index.js, other tasks have other filenames. I would like to change these inside the bowertask, adding a new directory but keeping the filename defined in the original task. Is this possible?

• Why is doing a top(1) on an indexed column in SQL Server slow?

  I'm puzzled by the following. I have a DB with around 10 million rows, and (among other indices) on 1 column (campaignid_int) is an index. Now I have 700k rows where the campaignid is indeed 3835 For all these rows, the connectionid is the same. I just want to find out this connectionid. use messaging_db; SELECT TOP (1) connectionid FROM outgoing_messages WITH (NOLOCK) WHERE (campaignid_int = 3835) Now this query takes approx 30 seconds to perform! I (with my small db knowledge) would expect that it would take any of the rows, and return me that connectionid If I test this same query for a campaign which only has 1 entry, it goes really fast. So the index works. How would I tackle this and why does this not work? edit: estimated execution plan: select (0%) - top (0%) - clustered index scan (100%)

• Jquery Ajax loading Problem

  I have a function to load a html part into a element in main index page kinda like this $(".ajax").click(function() { //load a page into a element }); This works But the HTML part which i have just loaded also have links that need to trigger same function above, but it does not. Until I save that function in a separate .js file and load in the main index file as well as all other files from where I need to trigger that function even though these internal files are going to loaded into the the first main file . Is there any way for a function in the index file to run from the html document that is loaded inside a element.

• Rewrite rules doesn't work apache 1.3

  I'm using a couple of rewrite directives that always works before on apache2 but now i'm uploaded to a shared hosting and the rewrite rules do not seem to get applied. I've reduced the my .htaccess files to the following essential rules: RewriteEngine On Rewritebase /demo/ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L] As you can see, i want to rewrite every request to my index.php file in the demo folder from root. So everything like http://www.example.com/demo/albums/show/1 should be processed by http://www.example.com/demo/index.php for a standard MVC setup. (I'm using CodeIgniter btw) The directives above results in a 500 error, so i thought maybe because of some possible syntax differences between 1.3 and 2.x. After some trail and error editing, i've found the rewrite rule itself to be at fault but i really don't understand why. Any ideas to why my rewrite rule doesn't work? it did before on lots of different servers. Suggestions how to fix it? Note: mod_rewrite does work, i've written a small test to be sure.

• Get positions for NAs only in the "middle" of a matrix column

  I want to obtain an index that refers to the positions of NA values in a matrix where the index is true if a given cell is NA and there is at least one non-NA value before and after it in the column. For example, given the following matrix [,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [1,] NA 1 NA 1 [2,] 1 NA NA 2 [3,] NA 2 NA 3 the only value of the index that comes back TRUE should be [2,2]. Is there a compact expression for what I want to do? If I had to I could loop through columns and use something like min(which(!is.na(x[,i]))) to find the first non-NA value in each column, and then set all values before that to FALSE (and the same for all values after the max). This way I would not select leading and trailing NA values. But this seems a bit messy, so I'm wondering if there is a cleaner expression that does this without loops.

• How do i style a JSON feed in my view?

  My rails app gets the following JSON feed from mixcloud and sticks the results into my index page At the moment when I do this, the entire contents of my feed are displayed unformatted in one big blob of scary looking text (without the curly JSON brackets) I only want to display specific values from the feed in the view. From the feed in question lets say for simplicity that I just wanted to display all values with a key of "url" In case I'm doing something wrong here's my code: # podcast controller def index # I'm using a class method to get the feed @feed = Podcast.feed end # podcast model def self.feed feed = JSON.parse(open("http://api.mixcloud.com/alivefrommaryhill/feed").read) end # index.html.haml .feed = @feed I can't figure out how to style the results and display only certain items from the feed. • No route matches error with application_controller spec

  I have an application_controller spec that is failing since I removed the controller/action route from routes.rb. I get the following error: No route matches {:controller=>"application", :action=>"index"} I had many tests fail in the same way, but was able to fix them by including the correct parameters in the get call. So for instance, if I wanted to get the standard show route for posts in my spec, I had to change get :show to get :show, :id => '1' Unfortunately, I'm not sure now what to pass along for the application controller specs. When you press on the link it goes to the page2.php, but i want it to display inside the < div "content". In page2 i have Hello this is a test, in a echo.. I dont want to use frames.. should i split up my design on index.php, and then on page2.php include top & footer? or is there another way

  Trying to connect to 4D Database. PHPINFO says PDO is installed etc etc... Testing on localhost MAMP system.   I'm trying to "faux-fork" a process (an email being sent via SMTP) in my web application, and the application is built on Kohana. $command = 'test/email'; exec('php index.php '.$command.' > /dev/null/ &', $errors, $response); I'm getting an error -- Notice: Undefined index: SERVER_NAME When I look into Kohana's index.php file, I see that it is looking for a variable named SERVER_NAME, but I guess it is coming up NULL because Kohana couldn't detect this value and set it prior to run. Any ideas how to get Kohana to run via command line?

• Sphinx + tokyo Tyrant + mysql

  I'm looking at creating a full text search engine for one of my projects. We have a Mysql, Tokyo Tyrant and file documents that need to be indexed. I'm looking at Sphinx right now but I can't figured out if I can use it to index every document. I know it's possible to let Sphinx to use Mysql but I'm looking at a way to let Sphinx index and query Tokyo Tyrant as well as index file documents. It could be Sphinx or Xapian or another one but no JAVA (Lucene is out) but something that can be used with PHP and run on Linux. Any idea of a search engine that can accept more that Mysql as the source? Thanks

• UISegemnted COntrol - selecting 3rd segment activates second segment

  I have a segmented control with 3 defined segments. i am looking to capture the segment index so I can use it in an if statement to update variables accordingly as such: -(IBAction)numPlayers:(id)sender; { numPlayersSegment = [(UISegmentedControl *)sender retain]; if (numPlayersSegment.selectedSegmentIndex == 0) { numOfPlayers = 2; } else if (numPlayersSegment.selectedSegmentIndex = 1) { numOfPlayers = 3; } else if (numPlayersSegment.selectedSegmentIndex = 2) { numOfPlayers = 4; } else if (numPlayersSegment.selectedSegmentIndex = -1) { numOfPlayers = 0; } NSLog(@"Players selected = %d", numPlayersSegment.selectedSegmentIndex); However whenever I press the third segment (index 2) it returns the value of the second segment (index 1) and also highlights the 2nd segment. I can see nothing untoward in IB. Has anybody seen this and have any suggestions. I am using xcode 3.2.1 on snow leopard thanks

  Hello, I have a index.php file that will include several external files: "content/templates/id1/template.php" "content/templates/id2/template.php" "content/templates/id3/template.php" etc. All these files are loaded dynamically into index.php (it reads all folders inside "templates" directory and then includes every "template.php" file). I want to make "template.php" to have the same code in all the "id1,id2,id3" folders, BUT to load values from index.php depending in which folder it stays.. How can I do that? Thank You!

  hello there. building a site which has content for each section. urls range from; /work/ /work/print/ /work/print/folders etc. however, at any point a user can click on an article so; /work/article/1066 /work/print/article/1066 /work/print/folders/article/1066 using .htaccess i need to detect when there is 'article' in the url and set some different variables. RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/$ sets index.php?level1=$1&level2=$2&level3=$3&level4=$4 but if 'article/([0-9-]+)' is in the url, say /work/print/article/1066 return index.php?level1=$1&level2=$2&articleID=1066 basically the amount of levels will always be different but i'd like to return those as needed. another example would /work/print/folder/archive/article/1066 return index.php?level1=$1&level2=$2&level3=$3&level4=$4&articleID=1066 any help appreciated!   Hello, this is a silly questions but I don't understand, why rails isn't evaluating my string as expected. Here is my problem: I want to redirect to an url in the form ~/:controller/index/#_76 redirect_to :action => "index", :id => '#_76' But I'm getting the url in the form: ~/:controller/index/%25_76 and so my anchor for linking to a certain place in the website isn't working. Can someone please explain me, why rails makes this rendering? I think this hase something to do with url encoding. Again thanks for your help, I'm learning every day a little bit more about rails :).

• Rendering another Action without changing URL?

  I have this code in my Rails 3 controller: def index now = Time.now.utc.strftime("%m%d") redirect_to :action => "show", :id => now end def show begin @date = Time.parse("12#{params[:id]}") dbdate = params[:id] rescue ArgumentError @date = Time.now.utc dbdate = @date.strftime("%m%d") end @date = @date.strftime("%B %d") @events = Event.events_for_date(dbdate) end So basically index is just a specialized version of show, hence I want it to execute show, render the show.html.erb view - but I do not want to change the URL like redirect_to does. I have tried this approach: def index now = Time.now.utc.strftime("%m%d") params[:id] = now show render :action => "show" end Now, this works, but it just smells badly. I'm new to Ruby and Rails, so I just wonder if there is something fundamentally wrong or if there is a better way to do this?

• Slow query with unexpected scan

  Hello I have this query: SELECT * FROM SAMPLE SAMPLE INNER JOIN TEST TEST ON SAMPLE.SAMPLE_NUMBER = TEST.SAMPLE_NUMBER INNER JOIN RESULT RESULT ON TEST.TEST_NUMBER = RESULT . TEST_NUMBER WHERE SAMPLED_DATE BETWEEN '2010-03-17 09:00' AND '2010-03-17 12:00' the biggest table here is RESULT, contains 11.1M records. The left 2 tables about 1M. this query works slowly (more than 10 minutes) and returns about 800 records. executing plan shows clustered index scan over all 11M records. RESULT.TEST_NUMBER is a clustered primary key. if I change 2010-03-17 09:00 to 2010-03-17 10:00 - i get about 40 records. it executes for 300ms. and plan shows clustered index seek if i replace * in SELECT clause to RESULT.TEST_NUMBER (covered with index) - then all become fast in first case too. this points to hdd io issues, but doesn't clarifies changing plan. so, any ideas?

• mod_rewrite: Different rules on different domains, same www-root

  I have 8 domainnames that point to the same www-root. If the main domain is accessed, you are pointed to index.php, and from there on, the URL's are like: index.php?p=contact etc. If, however, you access one of the other 7 domains, that point to different units, you are initially pointed to: index_local.php, and from there on it goes like: index_local.php?p=contact etc. As you may see these URL's are very ugly, can I use mod_rewrite in this scenario to make it so that index.php AND index_local.php never show up in URL? Is there any better way to do this than the way I'm pointing the user now with multiple domains in the same www-root?
