• Send all traffic over VPN connection not working Windows VPN host

  I am trying to get a mac (10.8) to connect to thru vpn to a server running Windows Server 2008 R2 pass all requests from the mac to the server. The VPN is setup and I can connect and access the server thru a web browser, but for all other sites, the DNS lookup fails. I have tried adding a DNS server to the VPN Host. ex. Lets say the the VPN server also hosts a website example.com. I connect to the VPN with my mac and point a browser to example.com and everything works fine. but when I point the browser to google.com it just sits there and will eventually come back with a DNS lookup failed message. HOWEVER: I tried running the command dig @myServersIpHere www.google.com. on the mac and it comes back with correct IP addresses. I really dont know what to do from here. How can I route all requests from my mac, thru my windows server via VPN?

It uses a TDatabase component with several paradox (.db) tables. Is it simple to rejig the TDatabase settings to use a database on a shared machine so that several of us can access it together across the network? If so, what would be the steps needed please?

  Is it possible to allocate locally-scoped memory in assembly? For example, consider the following (completely contrived) situation: I have two macros, one of which is dependent on the other. The first is: minimum MACRO dest, num1, num2 ; Finds the minimum of two unsigned numbers, stores the result in dest And the second is: tripMin MACRO dest, num1, num2, num3 ; Finds the minimum of three unsigned numbers, stores the result in dest minimum firstMin, num1, num2 minimum secondMin, num2, num3 minimum dest, firstMin, secondMin (I know that this isn't a realistic example for a variety of reasons, but bear with me.) Assuming that all the registers are otherwise occupied, is there any way to declare firstMin and secondMin locally within the macro? Or am I just better off freeing a register by pushing its value onto the stack and popping it back when I'm done?

• Gvim on Windows 7: ALT codes not working

  I would like to be able to enter ALT codes in Gvim on Windows 7 as documented on the following site: Alt Codes On Windows (Windows 7 in my case), to generate a character via an ALT code you make sure that the NumLock key on your keypad is toggled on, hold down the ALT key, enter the keycode on the numeric keypad, and then release the ALT key. However this does not work in Gvim on Windows (which ignores the fact that I am pressing the ALT key and just prints to entered keypad key directly onto the screen). How can I get these keystroke combinations to work in Gvim as well? Thanks. EDIT: As the answer below points out, the way to insert non-ASCII characters for which you do not have entries on your keyboard without changing the keyboard layout is as follows: Make sure you are in insert mode, and then type CTRL-V followed by the Unicode character code of interest, for instance: CTRL-V u00E0 (generates à) CTRL-V u00C8 (generates È) CTRL-V u00E8 (generates è) CTRL-V u00E9 (generates é) CTRL-V u00EC (generates ì) CTRL-V u00F2 (generates ò) etc... • Using diff and patch to force one local code base to look like another

  I've noticed this strange behavior of diff and patch when I've used them to force one code base to be identical to another. Let's say I want to update update_me to look identical to leave_unchanged. I go to update_me. I run a diff from leave_unchanged to update_me. Then I patch the diff into update_me. If there are new files in leave_unchanged, patch asks me if my patch was reversed! If I answer yes, it deletes the new files in leave_unchanged. Then, if I simply re-run the patch, it correctly patches update_me. Why does patch try to modify both leave_unchanged and update_me? What's the proper way to do this? I found a hacky way which is to replace all +++ lines with nonsense paths so patch can't find leave_unchanged. Then it works fine. • Rsyslog is not working properly, it does not log anything

  I'm running a Debian server and a couple of days ago my rsyslog started to behave very weird, the daemon is running but it doesn't seem to do anything. Many people use the system but I'm the only one with (legal) root access. I'm using the default rsyslogd configuration (if you think is relevant I'll attach it, but it's the one that comes with the package). • Get OWA and ActiveSync working on server using HTTP redirect in IIS 7

  We have two servers on our LAN. One is a Windows 2003 Server domain controller running Exchange 2003. The other is a stand-alone Windows 2008 server running IIS 7. Our company website runs on the IIS 7 (2008) server, so the firewall forwards port 80 to this. How can I get OWA and ActiveSync to work with this setup? And without using SSL. I have tried setting up a website on the IIS 7 box (mail.ourdomain.com) and using HTTP redirect to point to http://mailserver/exchange, but this doesn't work. Do we have to purchase an SSL certificate for this to work?

• How to set permissions or alter a git commit process when using local repositories

  I have a server that contains a central git repository and one of my co-worker's development environment. My co-worker's repository's origin is the central git repository and he pushes there when he has some code to share. Likewise, I develop locally and push to the central git repository when I have some code to share, so my repository's origin is also the central git repository. The issue is that I have the central git repository under a "git" user's home directory. So when I push I am actually SSH'ing into the the server as the "git" user. To be even more clear, my config has these lines: $ more .git/config [remote "origin"] fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/* url = [email protected]:fsg [branch "master"] remote = origin merge = refs/heads/master When I push, git handles this SSH + push seamlessly with I am guessing some sort of git shell. The issue is that when my coworker pushes, he is logged in as himself for a user and gets a bunch of crazy permission errors. Is there a typical way to solve this problem without opening up git's directories to a group? I think this will be problematic when I push and therefore overwrite the the repository and those permissions are reset. Thanks!

• Excel 'recently used list' not showing on start menu, but working within excel

  In windows 7 when you pin Excel 2007 to the start menu, it usually has a small arrow which shows your recently opened documents. Mine only shows permanently pinned documents. It used to work until I tried Office 2010 and then uninstalled it. If I open Excel and click on the file menu, I can see all the recently opened documents so they are being recorded somewhere... Any idea on how to restore it so I can view them on the start menu - Which I always used before?

• Using Flex to keep local SQLite database in sync with live server database

  I want to create a Flex 3 application running in Adobe Air that accesses an SQLite database and I need to keep this database in sync with an SQL server 2005 database running a website. Is this something that Flex supports or is it going to be a custom script? Also, has anybody done anything like this? Edit: The synchronisation can be done on a daily basis rather than real time. The data will be read only from a front end perspective with a CMS to do updates on the website.

• Office 2010 Trusted Locations not working after restart

  In Excel 2010, on Windows XP, I am unable to open files - through the open dialog box - from a network drive. The sever has already been added to the Trusted Locations and now most security settings turned down or off. Excel will show "Downloading ..." on that status bar and a progress bar which doesn't progress. We have left Excel sitting in this state for 30+ minutes and no change. A similar problem occurs when saving files to network shares. If we use explorer to navigate to the files and double click them they open flawlessly. No add-ins are active. We also have this problem in Word 2010, but the server was not initially in the Trusted Locations. I added it and it worked until the PC was reset, it now exhibits the same issues as Excel where the server is in the Trusted locations but will not open files. I have tried removing the server from the Trusted Location in both applications, restarting the PC and re-adding them (testing before, after and in-between) and had no luck.

  I have a Maintenance Plan that is suppose to go through the BACKUP folder and remove all .bak older than 5 days. When I run the job, it gives me a success message but older .bak files are still present. I've tried the step at the following question: SQL Maintenance Cleanup Task 'Success' But not deleting files Result is column IsDamaged = 0 I've verified with the following question and this is not my issue: Maintenance Cleanup Task(s) running 'successfully' but not deleting back up files. I've also tried deleting the Job and Maintenance Plan and recreating, but to no avail. Any ideas?

We have a bunch of PDF files, I'm the CA and each one should send me a signed PDF for me to be verified. I've told them to do the following (and tried to do it by myself) Request and obtain a certificate (I'll skip this part) Create a MIME message with the PDF file in it makemime -c "text/pdf" -a "Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=”Elaborato.pdf" Elaborato.pdf > Elaborato.pdf.msg Sign with openSSL openssl smime -sign -in Elaborato.pdf.msg -out Elaborato.pdf.p7m -certfile ca.pem -certfile nomegruppo.crt -inkey nomegruppo.key -signer nomegruppo.crt Verify with openssl smime -verify -in Elaborato.pdf.p7m -out Elaborato-verified.msg -CAfile ca.pem -signer nomegruppo.crt Extract attachment with munpack Elaborato-verified.msg View with Acrobat Reader The problem is that even if I get a file that (from its binary content) resembles a PDF file my current Ubuntu PDF viewer doesn't read it. The XXXElaborato.pdf extracted by munpack is a little bit smaller than the original. What's the problem with this procedure? In theory, they should send me the signed S/MIME message and I should be able to read the PDF within it. Why can't I restore the original content of the PDF file?

• WinPE, Startnet.CMD and passing variables to second batch file not working

  I don't know scripting or PowerShell (yes I need to learn something). I'm not an expert batch file maker either. I have a WinPE flash drive which I used to deploy OS images. I have the WIM, drivers and anything needed else outside the WinPE environment to ensure that Updates, changes are easier for me to make. I use the "STARTNET.CMD" batch file which is part of the WinPE. The reason to go through the letter drives is that the WinPE always gets the X letter drive assigned. The flash drive itself can receive a random letter which always changes. My deployment menu is located on the flash drive it self and not inside the WinPE. This is so that if I need to make a change I don't have to re-do the WinPE. I am able to locate the "menu.bat" batch file and launch it. I use a variable to capture the letter drive. I call the second batch file named "menu.bat" and pass the variable to it. When the second batch file loads, I believe that I am calling the variable correctly. If I break out of the batch file I can echo the variable and see the expected reply. The issue is that I can't use the variable to work with anything on the second batch file. In my test, I can get this to work over and over. When it runs from the real USB flash drive it does not work. I removed comments from the second batch file to make it smaller. My issue is that files below all get a message stating that the system cannot find the path specified. • Num Lock of laptop working strangely [Dell Vostro 1710]

  My laptop model is Dell Vostro 17" and it has numeric keypad. The problem is that its Num Lock key works very strange. Sometimes when I press it the information led of Num Lock activates, but sometimes when I try to activate numeric keypad it refuses and this led doesn't activate and therefore numeric keypad doesn't work at all. Does it mean that I need to change my keyboard at all? In addition Esc key doesn't work for a long time. I think the main reason for that is my son (2year old) who started playing with my laptop from his 1st year. If I need to change the keyboard where can I buy it for a good price, because in Dell I think when I called them 2-3 months ago they offered me keyboard for about more then 50Euros. Currently I live in Spain. Thanks.

• Subdomains not working with virtual hosts on apache2 ubuntu

  I'm trying to set up a subdomain on my ec2 account but can't figure out what's going on. • Windows 7 Homegroups not working?

  I've got a homegroup set up, and only the accounts/machines where the user and password is identical can see/share files. I thought the setting to let homegroup control the accounts would make that requirement unnecessary....am I missing something? To be clear: I can see the other machines/user accounts in my homegroup listing, but I can't see any of the files in their shared libraries.

• APC File Cache not working but user cache is fine

  I have just got a VPS (with cPanel/WHM) to test what gains i could get in my application with using apc file cache AND user cache. So firstly I got the PHP 5.3 compiled in as a DSO (apache module). Then installed APC via PECL through SSH. (First I tried with WHM Module installer, it also had the same problem, so I tried it via ssh) All seemed fine and phpinfo showed apc loaded and enabled. Then I checked with apc.php. All seemed OK But as I started testing my php application, the stats in apc for File Cache Information state: Cached Files 0 ( 0.0 Bytes) Hits 1 Misses 0 Request Rate (hits, misses) 0.00 cache requests/second Hit Rate 0.00 cache requests/second Miss Rate 0.00 cache requests/second Insert Rate 0.00 cache requests/second Cache full count 0 Which meant no PHP files were being cached, even though I had browsed through over 10 PHP files having multiple includes. So there must have been some Cached Files. But the user cache is functioning fine. User Cache Information Cached Variables 0 ( 0.0 Bytes) Hits 1000 Misses 1000 Request Rate (hits, misses) 0.84 cache requests/second Hit Rate 0.42 cache requests/second Miss Rate 0.42 cache requests/second Insert Rate 0.84 cache requests/second Cache full count 0 Its actually from an APC caching test script which tries to retrieve and store 1000 entries and gives me the times. A sort of simple benchmark. Can anyone help me here. Even though apc.cache_by_default = 1, no php files are being cached. • Mouse receiver stopped working after pairing mouse to an unifying receiver

  I bought this mouse, logitech m510, which came with a nano receiver (no-unifying). Yes I know, the mouse is supposed to come with a unifying receiver but I bought it knowing that it won't come on it's original package and it will come with a no-unifying receiver. When I received it, everything worked ok but, after connecting the mouse to another computer using an unifying receiver (that also worked ok, btw), then, when I tried to connect back the mouse to my computer using the no-unifying receiver, I couldn't connect it. I tried everything from removing the batteries and reinstalling the drivers to restarting the computer and trying in different computers, but I couldn't connect them. What I think it happened, is that in fact if you check the documentation of the logitech m510 it says that it works with unifying receivers only, and even more, there is the following article explaining it: http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/18001/~/using-my-m510-with-a-different-usb-receiver So my theory is that the problem was connecting it to a unifying receiver, and now, isn't recognize by another receiver. The receiver (the no-unifying one) itself is recognized by windows, and if I connect the mouse using a unifying receiver, it works. I would like to know if there is any know solution for this or if I can try something else to see if I can solve this.

• Internal Website links only working for some users

  We are having a very hard time trying to figure out this problem or the root cause. Our website www. countrymusicislove .com is only correctly displaying the homepage for some users. Anytime they click on a post, about me, etc, a 404 error page is displayed. Everything worked fine before we moved over to a new hosting company 2 weeks ago. I am looking for any ideas and even willing to pay someone to troubleshoot and fix this issue as no one seems to have an answer. The entire website is done in the latest version of wordpress. The old website address for the website is http://siteground243.com/~countr10/ And the domain name was registered through google for enom.com Everything is now going through Arvixe.com On my work computer, I am able to get the 404 error to appear on other pages by turning on friendly error messages. When I turn off friendly error messages, everything seems to work. I have tried this several times and it doesn't seem like a coincidence.

• What is the easiest way to get MySQL's Archive Storage Engine working on CentOS 5.4

  The Archive Storage Engine is not enabled by the default build of MySQL in CentOS/RHEL. I would like to enable it on our CentOS 5.4 server. My initial reaction was to modify the SPEC file for the SRPMS file, but this indicates that this might not be that easy. There's always the option to build from MySQL source, but I would prefer if possible to stay within the RPMS/Yum world. Does anybody have a successful approach to this by using RPMS/SRPMS/Yum? Some patches which makes this work flawless with SRPMS?

• PPTP VPN Not Working - Peer failed CHAP authentication, PTY read or GRE write failed

  Brand-new install of CentOS 6.3. Followed this guide: http://www.members.optushome.com.au/~wskwok/poptop_ads_howto_1.htm And I got PPTPd running [v1.3.4]. I got the VPN to authenticate users against our Active Directory using winbind, smb, etc. All my tests to see if I'm still authenticated to the AD server pass ["kinit -V [email protected]", "smbclient", "wbinfo -t"]. VPN users were able to connect for like . . . an hour. I tried connecting from my Android phone using domain credentials and saw that I got an IP allocated for internal VPN users [which I've since changed the range, but even setting it back to the initial doesn't work]. Then, I have full "Any IP / Any Protocol" open traffic rules between DMZ<--Untrust Zone, and DMZ<--Trust Zone. I'll limit this later to just the authenticating traffic it needs, but for now I think we can rule out the firewall blocking anything.
