  I have bash script which has lots of echo statements and also I aliased echo to echo -e both in .bash_profile and .bashrc, so that new lines are printed properly for a statement like echo 'Hello\nWorld' the output should be Hello World but the output I am getting is Hello\nWorld I even tried using shopt -s expand_aliases in the script, it doesn't help I am running my script as bash /scripts/scriptnm.sh; if I run it as . /scripts/scriptnm.sh I am getting the desired output...

• simple apache2 reverse proxy setup not working

  I know what proxy is (very high level), it's just I have never set up one, and it feels like I might be missing some big fat point here. My setup: client server (static IP), runs apache on port 80 proxy (has 2 network cards, one is on the clients network, the other one with a static IP on the server network), runs apache on port 80 I am trying to configure these three machines so that when client requests: http://proxy/machine1 It gets served server's pages at server root URL, i.e. http://server/ I can access client pages just fine. However, when I try accessing a page from the client machine, it simply gets redirected to server's IP address, which it clearly can't access since they are not on the same network: ... <meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0;url=http://server/machine1"></meta> <title>Redirect</title> ... • IIS URl Rewrite working inconsistently?

  I'm having some oddness with the URL rewriting in IIS 7. Here's my Web.config (below). You'll see "imported rule 3," which grabs attempts to access /sitemap.xml and redirects them to /sitemap/index. That rule works great. Right below it is imported rule 4, which grabs attempts to access /wlwmanifest.xml and redirects them to /mwapi/wlwmanifest. That rule does NOT work. (BTW, I do know it's "rewriting" not "redirecting" - that's what I want). So... why would two identically-configured rules not work the same way? Order makes no different; Imported Rule 4 doesn't work even if it's in the first position. Thanks for any advice! • keepass not working with wine

  I installed Keepass 1.16 in my thumbdrive, which reportedly works with wine (as per Keepass homepage), but after entering the master password it just hangs and shows the "The program keepass has encountered a serious problem and needs to close" screen. I got this error msg among the stack trace on the terminal: wine: Call from 0x7b844633 to unimplemented function bcrypt.dll.BCryptOpenAlgorithmProvider, aborting On windows, everything runs fine. I'm using wine-1.1.27 on ubuntu 9.04 Any thoughts?

• Minimum power requirement for VGA vs. its working

  Got a new XFX GTX260^2 video card. The only problem is the "Minimum power" is 500W on the box. I've got a Chieftec 450AA PSU with just a minimal number of attached stuff (1hdd, WD green; 6gb (4module) ram; dvd writer). Bought a cable for the 6pin power input on the card. Got picture, works in every aspect. Still. Should I get a new PSU (like a Corsair or Antec 600W)? Will the card perform slower with this PSU? (Yeah the last part is a particular question but in I'm also asking in generic. I was wondering about this so many times and I hope we'll put and end for this question for once and for all.)

• DVD ROM is not working

I have a DVD RW drive that is well listed in the bios, and if no CD is in, it is also present in the "My Computer" of my Fedora 16. But when I put a disc on it, the icon disapear from "My Computer", and I can not do anything with this ! (Like erasing a RW disc). I'd like to boot a Fedora 17 Live CD image. I burned it on an other computer but when I try to run it in bios, nothing is done and I'm redirected to Grub of my HD.   I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 with pure-ftpd version 1.0.35-1. I don't use database for the only user I have (ftpuser1 - localuser), but I want to lock him into his home directory. /ftp/ftpuser1 is the home dir of ftpuser1. /etc/pure-ftpd/conf/ChrootEveryone has the yes string and in /etc/default/pure-ftpd-common VIRTUALCHROOT is set to false, but ftpuser1 can freely walk around. My startup line for pure-ftpd looks like this : /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd -l pam -A -8 UTF-8 -O clf:/var/log/pure-ftpd/transfer.log -u 1000 -E -B So there is the "-A" in it for the ChrootEveryone.

• Integrated Windows Authentication not working in IE only

  In my site I have one folder that does not allow anonymous access. It is set up to use Integrated Windows Authentication as it is on an AD domain. The login works fine in Firefox, Chrome, even Safari, but not IE8. Has anyone encountered this before? I can't seem to find anyone else with a similar issue, except for where the login fails in all browsers of course.

• Metro Apps on Win 8 aren't working with static ip behind auth proxy

  In Windows 8 Professional, Metro Apps and Windows Update do not work on static IP settings behind authenticated proxy server. They work on DHCP on the same proxy settings. (We have DHCP for wifi and static IP for LAN, both using the same proxy server). IE, Chrome and other desktop apps work nicely on both. Metro apps worked on an auth proxy (DHCP only), when I changed their proxy settings from the 'edit group policy' option. (StartSettingsEdit Group PolicyComputer ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesNetwork IsolationInternet Proxy for Apps) Can this be fixed?

  I am going to schedule a job by using at command. Here I tried the following command: $ at now + 1 minute echo 'Test at command' <EOD> I saw the job is scheduled by using at -l. However, I saw no echo out. I guess that I may need to add user to at.allow file. I cannot find at.allow in my Mac (Snow Leopard). Not sure what I need to do to test this at command?

• Not working WEP key in Ubuntu

  This time I've got some problem with connection to the internet from my old laptop with ubuntu, I already had some problems with setting up the radio on my network card but I think it works now since it finds some wireless networks. The problem is that I can't connect to my router via wi-fi even if I'm hundred-percently sure the wepkey I punch there is correct, it works via LAN though. Also, I'm not able to ping myself with 127.0.0.1. I'm sorry to say it but I don't think I can stand this shitness for much longer. Although it's much much faster than Windows it's useless since i can't download any libraries for development. If anyone has any experience with this, even indirect, please leave your answer or comment thx

• nginx error page and internal directives not working as expected

  I'd like to setup my nginx server to return a specific error page on HTTP 50x status codes, and I'd like this page to be unavailable by a direct request from users (e.g., http//mysite/internalerror). For that, I'm using nginx's internal directive, but I must be missing something, as when I put that directive on my /internalerror location, nginx returns a custom 404 error (which isn't even my own 404 error page) when a page crashes.   Hi, I keep getting a 404 Page Not Found whenever I try to access CodeIgniter's Scaffolding page in my browser, like so: localhost/codeignitor/index.php/blog/scaffolding/mysecretword I can access localhost/codeignitor/index.php/blog just fine. I followed CodeIgnitor's instructions in their "Create a blog in 20 minutes" by storing my database settings in the database.php file; and automatically connecting to the database by inserting "database" in the core array of the autoload.php; and I've added both parent::Controller(); and $this-load-scaffolding('myTableName') to blog's constructor. It still gives me this 404. Any suggestions?

• SATA 3 PCIe Controller working with decreased performance (slower than SATA 2)

  After reading this question about maxing out an SSD I decided to do so myself. My mobo only supports SATA 2 and has two PCIe 2.0 x1 connectors (which promiss up to 500 mb/s). So after some searching I decided to go with this controller from amazon. My Samsung magician benchmark before upgrade (running SATA 2): Now after installing the controller all of the benchmark scores are lower (even though the Samsung Magician app confirms its connected to a SATA 3 port): What can I do to remedy this? • Flash not working in Safari on OS X 10.5

  About 2 weeks ago my browsers started bothering me to upgrade flash. Eventually, I did, and now I have no flash at all in Safari. I downloaded and installed the newest flash installer from Adobe. Firefox works fine. Safari does not, I just get the blue lego and a 'No handler for this content type' message. Other plugins, such as 1Password, seem fine. I have tried: Reinstalling flash umpteen times Deleting /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt Deleting ~/Library/Application Data/Safari I'm not sure what else to do.

• certificate working on IP but not on URL

  I asked this question on stackoverflow, and I've been suggested to repost it here. I have a problem accessing my site (on https) with IEMobile 9 (WP 7.5). It says it's got problem with the certificate, as if it wasn't valid. Everything works on any other browser or platform I tested (android (several phones and a galaxy tab with stock browser, firefox, opera, dolphin), iOS (iphone and ipad with safari and chrome), an old nokia with symbian, windows 7, linux and mac). To try to solve this I saved the certificate (.cer) on the server and accessed it from the phone browser. It always complained except when I accessed it through the server IP (192.168.xx.xx). At that point it (said it) installed correctly the certificate. If then I try to access the index.html still using the IP all works fine and it doesn't complain about the certificate. If, though, I try to access the index using the actual URL (blah.myblah.com), it complains again about the certificate, as if it wasn't installed! It isn't a problem of DNS, cause that's up and serving the right ip, and the phone is correctly setup to use it. The certificate is signed by geotrust/rapidssl for *.myblah.com.

• Redmine + Backlogs not working on Turnkey Linux (Ubuntu)

  I'm trying to get Redmine + Backlogs work, so for starters I took a virtual appliance with Redmine from Turnkey Linux (http://www.turnkeylinux.org/redmine) and installed Backlogs on top of it, following the installation instructions (http://www.redminebacklogs.net/en/installation/ - used method #2). It seems to have installed ok, but when I go to the "Backlogs" tab and attempt to create some stories, this is what I get - first shows some kind of error/warning icon, others continue to display "in progress" icon indefinitely (can't post a screenshot, unfortunately, but you can take a look at it here: http://www.redmine.org/attachments/5329/Backlogs.jpg). None of the stories get actually created - leaving this tab and returning back to it shows empty backlogs. So.. what am I doing wrong, and how to fix this?
