  • Rotation, further I go from 0:0, the further the object positions around the origin while rotating

    For some reason I am having the issue where the following code: global.spriteBatch.Draw(obj.sprite, obj.getPosition(), null, Color.White, obj.rotation, obj.center, 2f, SpriteEffects.None, 1); causes the object to rotate around the origin in such a way, as though there is an offset to the position relative to its location. The calculation for the center it correct and this happens even if I set the pivot to be the location of the object. The further I get from 0:0 the larger the radius or rotation. I am not sure what is going on here because given the following tutorial http://www.riemers.net/eng/Tutorials/XNA/Csharp/Series2D/Rotation.php I have done the code setup correctly. Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Here the controller mechanism is a basic procedural script. How then do you make controllers classes instead of procedural scripts? Must the controller class always be tied to the routing mechanism?

    the installation process of MySQL on windows are very simple as other software you need just configure them and they works. but somebody after migrating their mysql server to 5.5.8 confuse that their old database is now gone but it’s not  you need to do something to get back go to C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\data the programdata folder commonly hidden in any version of windows. you find their some folder cut them all you want to recover. note that don’t copy the file mainly in data folder just like err pid or log because they are configuration file and the configuration of mysql 5.1 and 5.8 both are different after copy the folder  go to C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\data paste here the folder restart mysql and all database is now in your hands.

  • Getting started with object detection - Image segmentation algorithm

    Just getting started on a hobby object-detection project. My aim is to understand the underlying algorithms and to this end the overall accuracy of the results is (currently) more important than actual run-time. I'm starting with trying to find a good image segmentation algorithm that provide a good jump-off point for the object detection phase. The target images would be "real-world" scenes. I found two techniques which mirrored my thoughts on how to go about this: Graph-based Image Segmentation: http://www.cs.cornell.edu/~dph/papers/seg-ijcv.pdf Contour and Texture Analysis for Image Segmentation: http://www.eng.utah.edu/~bresee/compvision/files/MalikBLS.pdf The first one was really intuitive to understand and seems simple enough to implement, while the second was closer to my initial thoughts on how to go about this (combine color/intensity and texture information to find regions). But it's an order of magnitude more complex (at least for me). My question is - are there any other algorithms I should be looking at that provide the kind of results that these two, specific papers have arrived at. Are there updated versions of these techniques already floating around. Like I mentioned earlier, the goal is relative accuracy of image segmentation (with an eventual aim to achieve a degree of accuracy of object detection) over runtime, with the algorithm being able to segment an image into "naturally" or perceptually important components, as these two algorithms do (each to varying extents). Thanks! P.S.1: I found these two papers after a couple of days of refining my search terms and learning new ones relevant to the exact kind of techniques I was looking for. :) I have just about reached the end of my personal Google creativity, which is why I am finally here!   • phpMyAdmin logs out when selecting database

    I'm having an issue with pma whereby after logging in (as root or the database owner), and trying to switch to a certain database, I am automatically logged out. I cannot do any actions on the database and in the page that loads immediately before I'm logged out I note that I can't see any tables in the database. The database is accessible by the cli mysql program and all records are still present. To clarify: Literally login works fine, I can browse ALL databases except the one of my projects. Trying to use that database causes the phpMyAdmin session to end. Thanks!

    I have been working with Database Development and the aspects that come with it, the pain and the joy of moving from Dev to QA and then on to Production.  Source Control has a place in Dev, and that is where the baselines should be established. Where am I going with this? I have been working with Redgate’s Source Control 3.0, and I am seeing some features that are great for the process of moving from Dev to … well something that allows for quite a level of control.  We are not only talking about scripting the structure of a database, but creating a baseline, working with migration scripts, and integrated with Redgate’s Schema Compare.  There is a detailed paper that will be posted here in the next day or so to provide step by step information of the process to define your baseline in Dev and then take it to the desired destination.     I code a lot both in C and C++ but did not expect C to be the second popular language, slightly behind Java! http://www.tiobe.com/index.php/content/paperinfo/tpci/index.html I'm curious as why, in this age of OOP, C is still all that popular? Note that 4 out of top 5 popular languages are all "modern" object-oriented capable languages. Now I agree that you can do OOP in C to some extend, but that's sort of painful and not quite elegant! (well at least compared to C++ I guess) So what makes C this popular? efficiency? being low-level? or the vast majority of libraries that already exist? ... or something else?

    The standard method of implementing get and set accessors in C# and VB.NET is to use a public property to set and retrieve the value of a corresponding private variable. Am I right in saying that this has no effect of different instances of a variable? By this I mean, if there are different instantiations of an object, then those instances and their properties are completely independent right? So I think my understanding is correct that setting a private variable is just a construct to be able to implement the get and set pattern? Never been 100% sure about this.

  • What are the memory-management capabilities of MySQL + JDBC (in light of autonomic computing)?

    I'm interested in implementing some kind of autonomic-computing functionality using MySQL. By autonomic-computing I mean roughly some failsafe abilities, whereby the application appears to be at least slightly "intelligent" For reference, the main parts of autonomic computing we'd like are the "self-configuring" and "self-healing" features (the other two - "self-optimizing" and "self-protecting", are too abstract/futuristic for us, at this time). Sofor example, if we have a sample Java application that utilizes a MySQL database, we might want to automatically restart the MySQL database if we take up too much memory. Or maybe we want to have the ability to dynamiccally adjust the database memory as needed. So for example, when we start the application the database begins with a 56 Megabyte buffer; but then as we insert so many rows we want to have it automatically jump up to 512 MB, then to 1024, until a max of 4096 MB. Does all of the above suggest that MySQL is too "weak" for the task? Do you suggest using Oracle database? My professor believes that by using Java we can basically make up for any memory-management deficiencies that MySQL has in relation to Oracle DB. I'm new to MySQL , but have experience with Oracle. If all of the above sounds wishy-washy, it is because I'm still fleshing it out. thanks

    We have a production database that is made up entirely of MyISAM tables. We are considering converting them to InnoDB to gain better concurrency & reliability. Can I just alter the myISAM tables to InnoDB without shutting down MySQL? What are the recommend procedures here? How long will such a conversion take? All the tables have a total size of about 700MB There are quite a large number of tables. Is there any way to apply ALTER TABLE to all the MyISAM tables at once instead of doing it one by one? Originally, I had a static method named getActiveEntries() that retrieved an array of all GuestbookEntry objects. Each row in the guestbook table was an object that was added to that array. Then while learning how to properly design PHP classes, I learned some things: Static methods are not desirable. Separation of Concerns Single Responsibility Principle If the GuestbookEntry class should only be responsible for managing single guestbook entries then where should this getActiveEntries() method most properly go? Update: I am looking for an answer that complies with the SOLID acronym principles and allows for test-ability. That's why I want to stay away from static calls/standard functions. DAO, repository, ...? Please explain as though your explanation will be part of "Where to Locate FOR DUMMIES"... :-)
