Is their any simple way in windows media player to move to a specific second in a song/video without playing around with the slide?
(Like "Go To Line..." in text editors?)
I have a hdd with windows 7 installed on it. I would like to move (or clone) the whole system to another (in this case smaller) hdd. What is the best and easiest way to do it? Basically I would need some kind of copy operation which would handle the differenct hdd sizes and copy everything including the boot loader. What method do you recommend?
My users are running on windows XP 32bit. normally WSUS automatically download and notify them to select which update want to install in the past they were in local administrator rights, now I reduce them to user rights so now they can't see the yellow notification said updated are available.
Is there a way to give users permission to see the yellow notification and they can select updates by hand without local admin rights or power users?
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks
Webcams and headphones from Microsoft (like for example the LifeChat ZX-6000, in my case) have a button which can be used only with Windows Live Messenger, to answer a call.
There is no option provided to configure it so that it would launch a program, or work in another communicator, in the given drivers.
Is there a way to make it work with Skype, so that I can answer a call by pressing this button? Maybe there are other drivers?
If a Windows server (2k3/2k8) is set to "download but not install" updates, is there a way to check from the command line.. perhaps a log file or something I can check with powershell, to see if there are any updates actually waiting to be installed? I'm trying to prevent having to manually log on to each server to check, even though they want the "trigger" pulled manually. We have an automation system in place I can use (CA Autosys) - just not sure what to have it look for.
Title says it all. I've got Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) installed on my machine, with one hard drive and nothing but the default partition. What is the safest way to now install Ubuntu Server 10.04 so that they coexist peacefully?

I'm developing an ADHD management system for myself. Without going into detail (and as silly as it may sound for a grown man to need something like this), I need to build a me-proof service to run on my Windows 7 Ultra laptop. I still need fairly complete access to the system, though.
How can I set things up so that I'm unable to "easily" (ie. within 3-5 mins without rebooting) stop the service or prevent it from running?
For some reason I can ping all servers in my network except for the mail server and the mail server can ping all servers except the windows server 2008 R2. The firewall has been disabled and still it doesn't respond. The weird part is that every once in a while it will all of a sudden start allowing pings and then just as suddenly stop allowing pings. I've made sure there's no type-o's in the ip address or subnet mask or gateway. Any other ideas?
How to change Windows default language temporarily? for example English to Russian.
but for some time and without loosing anything. I will revert back to English.
I want to change Language settings everywhere. In programs, Keyboard input, browsers etc.
Is there a way to perform some action (start a vbs, batch file, or an exe, etc) upon the successful upload of a file using Windows Server 2008 R2 built-in IIS FTP server/service?
I have just set up a VM for Windows Server 2008 R2 and want to install Microsoft CRM 2011 to play around with it. CRM 2011 seems to require Active Directory to be configured and running on the server.
I've never gotten involved with Active Directory and I know that I need to install it and get it going for the CRM 2011 to continue. Does anyone have any quick pointers and/or resources for someone with no Active Directory experience, so that I can get CRM 2011 installed?
I know this is easy to do these days with Linux, is there any way to do it with Windows 7? I don't mean install it from a thumb drive, but run it from one.
Is there anyway in windows 7 to change the behavior of control-tab so that it acts like it did in XP?
What I want is for it to show the icon of the program, not a thumbnail of the window. Most of the thumbnails look alike and its really hard to instantly tell which is which like I could on XP.
I have my phone set up so that when it takes photos, it sends them to file on my desktop. I would like to have a task run once a day that checks the folder and then
Creates a folder on the external drive with the day embedded (e.g. Photos-2012-10-08)
Move all the files from desktop folder to the newly created folder
How do you go about creating a script that the Windows Task Scheduler can use to accomplish that goal?

I am running a windows 2008 server and trying to manage its power such that the system drive should stop if not used for 10 min. My all of other power settings including on my backup drive work except this one and same is behavior on my Win 7 workstation.
Is it something blocked by the OS or I am doing some mistake?
A new icon has appeared in my tray in Windows 7 recently - a black square with a white A in it:
It doesn't have any tooltip or right-click context menu so I haven't been able to identify which process it belongs to. I tried using the "Find Window's Process" tool in Process Explorer but that won't identify individual tray icons.
Short of killing processes until it disappears, is there a good way to identify which process this icon belongs to?
Using Windows XP. File Explorer stops deleting files when it hits a file which is use. Is there a way to make it skip all files which are in use and just delete the others?
If you will recommend a file explorer alternative, please mention the free one(s).

When I lock my Windows 7 machine with dual monitors, the "Ctrl+Alt+Del" screen is only on the main display, with the other display just showing a black screen. Is there any way to show either the desktop or other graphic on the secondary monitor while the computer is locked?
When using the “Remote Server Administration Tools” on Windows 7 (or Vista), is there a way to make the tools (such as DHCP or DNS) remember servers that I work with on a regular basis?
