• faking a filesystem / virtual filesystem

  I have a web service to which users upload python scripts that are run on a server. Those scripts process files that are on the server and I want them to be able to see only a certain hierarchy of the server's filesystem (best: a temporary folder on which I copy the files I want processed and the scripts). The server will ultimately be a linux based one but if a solution is also possible on Windows it would be nice to know how. What I though of is creating a user with restricted access to folders of the FS - ultimately only the folder containing the scripts and files - and launch the python interpreter using this user. Can someone give me a better alternative? as relying only on this makes me feel insecure, I would like a real sandboxing or virtual FS feature where I could run safely untrusted code.

• How do you install Castle Windsor IOC?

  I'm currently reading Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework by Sanderson. In the book he recommends setting up IoC using Castle Windsor, and he points out that the download automatically installs it and registers the Castle DLLs in the GAC. Well, at this point in time (5/4/2010), the Castle Project no longer has a downloadable installer that sets this up. Its all broken out into their individual subprojects with the raw files contained in zipped folders. Sadly there's no installation documentation that I can find about how to set it up. Being the noob that I am, I'm stuck and now forced to ask #1 where should castle windsor live on my hard drive? #2 how do I manually register the dlls properly? • Using RegEx to replace invalid characters

  Hello I have a directory with lots of folders, subfolder and all with files in them. The idea of my project is to recurse through the entire directory, gather up all the names of the files and replace invalid characters (invalid for a SharePoint migration). However, i'm completely unfamiliar with Regular Expressions. The characters i need to get rid in filenames are: ~, #, %, &, *, { } , \, /, :, <, ?, -, | and "" I want to replace these characters with a blank space. I was hoping to use a string.replace() method to look through all these file names and do the replacement. So far, the only code i've gotten to is the recursion. I was thinking of the recursion scanning the drive, fetching the names of these files and putting them in a List. Can anybody help me with how to find/replace invalid chars with RegEx with those specific characters?

• Redirect folder to different server

  I know you can redirect subdomains to a different server, but can you do the same with folders? Say I have example.com. I can redirect mysubdomain.example.com to a different server, but can I redirect example.com/mysubdomain to a different server? I'd like to host a rails app in that folder on a site that runs php while still maintaining good search engines ratings (by not creating a sub domain which in my experience in recognized as a different site).   I am writing a C# code to find all of our SharePoint Sites that have emails contained in the Email List page. It appears that some of our email messages are SPListItem.ContentType.Name = "Message" and some of our email messages are SPListItem.ContentType.Name = "Discussion" Aside from the confusion, this is forcing my to cycle through mylist.Folders and mylist.Items in two separate loops, so that I don't miss any of the emails. Is this normal? Any idea why this could be happening? There are threads that contains messages of both types.

• VS2010 - Add template to New Project window

  I am trying to add a new project template for an often used pattern. Starting from the class library template I have done the following (it still does not show up in the new project window): opened the .vstemplate file changed name and description to 'hard coded' values (my template). The values in there pulled from the csharpui.dll resources. changed the TemplateID, DefaultName, and ProjectItems included. saved these to the ProjectemplatesCache folder and as a zip in the ProjectTemplates folder. restarted VS2010 and checked the new project location which should have shown my new template. specifically, the folders I saved to were.. C:\program files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplatesCache\CSharp\Windows\1033\HostComm.zip (the zip is the folder name, not a zip file) and C:\program files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Windows\1033 (this folder has a HostComm.zip file in it) Has anyone else done this? Can it be done? If it can then what did I miss?

  I'm testing my site with Google PageSpeed and YSlow and the bundles that i've created with MVC4 bundles aren't getting Gzipped (Compressing resources with gzip or deflate can reduce the number of bytes sent over the network) and there is no Vary: Accept-Encoding header (Instructs proxy servers to cache two versions of the resource: one compressed, and one uncompressed. This helps avoid issues with public proxies that do not detect the presence of a Content-Encoding header properly.) And also how can i add encoding header for the whole scripts folder on the ISS. I know there is HTTP Response Headers, then Add Custom HTTP Response Header, but will this work on the whole scripts folders and subfolders and what to put in the Name and Value fields. • Change present working directory of a calling shell from a ruby script

  I'm writing a simple ruby sandbox command-line utility to copy and unzip directories from a remote filesystem to a local scratch directory in order to unzip them and let users edit the files. I'm using Dir.mktmpdir as the default scratch directory, which gives a really ugly path (for example: /var/folders/zz/zzzivhrRnAmviuee+++1vE+++yo/-Tmp-/d20100311-70034-abz5zj) I'd like the last action of the copy-and-unzip script to cd the calling shell into the new scratch directory so people can access it easily, but I can't figure out how to change the PWD of the calling shell. One possibility is to have the utility print out the new path to stdout and then run the script as part of a subshell (i.e. cd $(sandbox my_dir) ), but I want to print out progress on the copy-and-unzipping since it can take up to 10 minutes, so this won't work. Should I just have it go to a pre-determined, easy-to-find scratch directory? Does anyone have a better suggestion? Thanks in advance for your help. -Erik

I wanted to keep the views folder inside other folders, When I try to do so i am getting following errors The view 'Index' or its master was not found. Will I get any problems If I change the default Views folder location.   We have a large number of documents and metadata (xml files) associated with these documents. What is the best way to organize them? Currently we put them into a series of nested folders: /repository/category/date(when they were loaded into our db)/document_number.pdf and .xml We use the path as a unique identifier for the document in our system. This is more versatile than putting them all in a single flat folder. also it is independent from our database/application, so we can reload them in case of failure. Yet, it introduces some limitations. for example we can't move the files once they've been placed in this structure, also it takes work to put them this way. What is the best practice? How websites such as Scribd deal with this problem?

  today I tried to install and run the SublimeJava Plugin for Sublime Text 2. Here is basically what i've done. Cloning the git Repository https://github.com/quarnster/SublimeJava.git into ~/Library/Application Support/Sublime Text 2/Packages. Created a ProjectFile to test the Plugin. { "folders": [ { // The class files are in the same directory "path": "~/src/path_to_project/" } ], "settings": [ { "sublimejava_classpath": [ "~/src/path_to_project/", "/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Libraries/" ], "sublimejava_enabled":true } ] } Now whenever I type something that should trigger the code-completion, nothing happens. • Trouble setting a default controller in MVC 2 RC Area

  This should be simple, but alas... I've set up an Admin area within my MVC 2 project (single project areas). I've created a couple controllers and their respective view folders. In the AreaRegistration.RegisterArea method, I've specified that I want the default controller to be "Dashboard": public override void RegisterArea(AreaRegistrationContext context) { context.MapRoute( "Admin_default", "Admin/{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Dashboard", action = "Index", id = "" }, new string[] { "Admin" } ); } If I navigate to url/Admin/Dashboard, the index comes up just fine. What I want, though, is to allow the user to go to url/Admin/ and see the same thing. When I do this, however, I get "The resource cannot be found". I'm just getting my feet wet with MVC 2's Area implementation, and I don't think I'm doing anything overly complicated... Anyone had the same problem? Do I need to specify a separate route, perhaps at the root, non-area level?

I have used it before for a single application and works well but was wondering if it technically possible to use this architecture for a SaaS? Once code base but custom plugins for each customer using some form of custom folders to organize the plugins? Idea would be to use one main code base instead of having to maintain code for N number of clients. Ideas? Thoughts? Experience either way?

As a start I am a bit confused, IntelliJ has created two folders for my GRails project: these reside in 1) C:\Documents and Settings\me\.grails\1.2.1\projects and 2) C:\Documents and Settings\me\IdeaProjects\ The 1) contains a plugins folder which contains directories and files of plugins I am using inside my project.   in a J2EE app if user explicitly takes out the the ending page name then what is the best way to not show the directory structure? Example: /mycoolapp/somefolder/test.jsp /mycoolapp/somefolder/ -- this will show all the files under 'somefolder' What is the best way to redirect or show the user a page saying 'not where you belong'. I want to avoid providing index.jsp in all the folders/subfolders of my application. Appserver being used is GlassFish. • WinSCP equivalent for Linux/Ubuntu

  I'm shifting most of my projects to a Linux machine, and one of the things that I miss is WinSCP. I've found other answers saying that nautilus, FileZilla etc. can be used for SFTP, but something that I loved about WinSCP was that it has two panes (FileZilla's got that) and I could start synchronization from any directory. Unison or Rsync could work, but I'd have to create a folder pair every time I want to sync two folders. Is there an SFTP client for Linux that has a two-paned view and allows ad-hoc synchronization? • Updating a Cuda 4.0 project to Cuda 4.2

  I have a VS2010 project that was tested with CUDA 4.0, today I installed CUDA 4.2 and I want to update this project, the problem is that when I try to run the project it asks me for cudart32_40_17.dll, but since this is CUDA 4.2 I only have on my folders (C:\Program Files\NVIDIA GPU Computing Toolkit\CUDA\v4.2\bin) cudart32_42_9.dll. I already set the Build Customizations to Cuda 4.2 and it compiles without any problem, the only problem is when I try to run it, the app asks me for the previous version of the dll. Is there a way to especify that the project must use cudart32_42_9.dll?

• VB.NET localization

  In my winform app in VB.NET I want to use the localization option. But i have a few questions/problems. I'm using a menu strip to select an other language. But it seems that is doesn't change my menustip text to my selected language. It does change my labels, buttons, and textboxes but menu strips don't seem to change when I choose another language. Also is it possible to get those resx files such as MyForm.fr-FR.resx compiled so it isn't an external file outside my app? Or to get those files in an Language folder at the same location of my app, so i don't have all those fr-FR, nl-Nl folders in the same location as my program?

• How to resume repo sync

  Can anyone please mention how to resume the sync command? I followed the following steps: $ repo init -u git://git.omapzoom.org/platform/omapmanifest.git -b eclair $ repo sync The sync took more than 6 hours and I had to terminate the sync myself due to shortgae of bandwidth. Is there any way I can resume the sync from the previous session? I can see that the following folders are created: bionic.git bootable build.git cts.git and many more.... I have access to free bandwidth only for 6 hours in a day, and I have to do the sync within this time. Any help is really appreciated.

• TortoiseSVN 1.6.8 missing repository browser in Branch/Tag "To URL" dialog?

  It seems that in TortoiseSVN 1.6.8 (on Windows), when you click the "To URL..." button in the Branch/Tag dialog, it now pops up a generic "browse for folders" dialog. It used to pop up a Repository Browser. Displaying a regular folder browser isn't much use, since you can't navigate to any of the tags/branches via the file system. Does anyone know if this is a regression or a deliberate change? Any possible workarounds (other than reverting to 1.6.7, which works fine)? Notes: I am running a repository on the local file system, which may yield different results to one going across a network. I'm definitely using an FSFS repository, so changes to BDB access via file:/// shouldn't apply. • .htaccess Subfolder Redirect

  Hey Guys & Gals, I recently moved my WordPress website to a subfolder. I want to add a redirect in the .htaccess file so that the links to images I've uploaded originally to ~/wp-content/uploads/ will pass to ~/blog/wp-content/uploads. The .htaccess file must remain in the root folder for WordPress to read it properly. This is what I tried Redirect /wp-content/uploads/ /blog/wp-content/uploads That worked great, except I host other domains on this account, and all of the other domain's upload folders were being redirected in a similar manner. Is there a way to restrict this redirect to just one domain? So that example.com/wp-content/uploads redirects to example.com/blog/wp-content/uploads, but another.com/wp-content/uploads does not?
